Great to meet and have a chat Tuesday morning, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, they were very helpful and were taken on board for when we finally get a van early in the new year. Some lovely vans here and looking forward to the next video and seeing the transporters. 👌👍

😂 What you see on this videos, especially the conversation videos, is me 😀 It was great meeting people. I really enjoyed the show. Would love to go for the week, but I have a day job
Cracking review. Loving the Crafters. The challenge I have is spending £140k + on a van. I’ve just bought my eldest her first house for £300k so I struggle with the perspective of value. Having said that they do look high quality and offer an alternative for people. Almost tempted but property doesn’t devalue but then life experiences maybe shouldn’t have a price. Nice job 👍
Thank you. It’s a large sum of money to spend on a van and arguably you can spend much less and have the same experiences (the outdoor lifestyle aspect) You would of course have much better features, components, comfort etc by buying a more modern fully kitted out van. You only live once, enjoy it and do it which ever way you feel is best for you. For £140k you could equate it to a small house you can drive around 😀 Albeit a depreciating asset 👍🏼
Brilliant!!! Im looking forward to the transporter vid as I pick mine up soon. Not converted but looking forward to seeing more of your videos on that. thank you very much for the hard work in putting these together.

Glad to see you are going over to see them and look forward to the video. Think your close to us in Paignton if you want a look at the van as think you will like it having heard all your thoughts on vans. Take care. Paul

Great vid and I loved the VW Crafter but at £180k I would not want to leave it parked anywhere. I think I will just be happy sticking to my old 4x4 transit self build.
Really good video. A lot of ideas for updating existing vans without the expense of buying a new vehicle 👍 live the idea of removable storage bags. Amazon time 😂
Don’t forget Ford have not yet provided converters with the L1 H2 (high top) roof which some people may prefer which is one reason why some campervan converters have not attended the show.
Most converters who normally attend where present. It is still early days yet, we will see more camper donor vans soon too, but still I believe a lot will convert from the panel van
We went yesterday ( Thursday ) I would have liked to have been there during your visits and to have said hello. I don’t know how you manage to put so much effort into your videos and get them up so timely. Initially I had purchased the show tickets intending to place an order but instead purchasing a camper elsewhere in the meantime. So yesterday was more about buying those extras for our van. Unfortunately we left more or less empty handed with our wallet still in tact. I was hoping to see more in the way of accessories. Is the February show better for this?
Thank you very much. I always plan, as best I can so I know what I’m doing. For instance, I knew there was going to be lots of Ford’s and crafters so made that a theme. I’m likely the be there the first 2 days in Feb also. The Feb show is smaller and you should see more accessories. It’s “camping” also which naturally brings more outdoors accessories with it. Good luck on your adventures
The crafter you was looking at with orange seats. Beautiful interior. And you mentioned its good price. I think what you didn't notice. Was it was the base model. The cab had the old fashioned radio & small screen. Better models have the big screen with many functions. In effect it's a laptop About 36 minutes in Looking forward to tomorrow's video I think lots of manufacturers are going over to transit from transporter. Love the new transit
Hi David, yes the base van hugely affects the starting price. It’s the same with the base spec Transit from the same converter. BUT the base spec of the conversion still includes the good components. The Transits are nice. If I had the money, I have no idea what I would buy, there are so many good vans
Great vlog, recommend a look at the Landseer Transit, the finish has to be one of the best no horrible plastic on show around the pop-top, even had hot & cold water 👍
Thank you. It has the SCA roof, which will be seen frequently. The trim is seen but body coloured. The hot water is becoming standard in some conversions, like the Bespoke. I mention that in my next video. It’s great to have as many people want hot water 😀
Went last year before deciding on what to camper to buy, enjoyed the show. This year was very disappointed with the trade accessories side as we now have a van. Some stands were extremely dull. Portable compressor coolers were our main target, Dometic had stock that is being discontinued with new versions available here next year, Europe & USA have them ! Outwell Artic Chill, nothing. Total Cool and Mestic yes. This show is not as big as it thinks it is, maybe the February one is a lot better ? Checked out UA-cam vids of the big shows in Germany, trade stands full of goodies !
The German show is much bigger. Huge. The Feb show, should have more accessories. It would be far better for all related stands to be in the same place, but some are in random places and can be missed.
So many Transits but such a shame that no manufacturers make a high top; sadly the AS Topaz ceased a long time ago, and now the Westfalia Club Joker is ceasing. I can’t be the only one wanting a LWB Transporter or Transit, high top and self contained (wash room) ?😏. Pop tops are not the way forward for year round use in the UK.
One of the most economic vans to drive is actually Peugeot/Citroen, for a small camper van. I wonder why so many converters use Ford and VW? The VW image is misguided "snob" value, going back to the splitty surf van. There is another point, try to get a night in a "Surf Van" on either of the UK Club Sites, who insist on totally converted vans, even curtains! Needs thinking about.
@@bindatek8801 converters build what people want to buy. At present the only reason for the the Ford conversions increasing in number is that the Transporter is not yet available new (this show is meant to be brand new vans) When VW release the New Transporter, many of these conversions will move to that platform instead, as they will sell better (expectedly and price dependant) The VW carries much better residual values than any of those other brands because people want it. Rules regarding conversions are tightening for a number of reasons. I spoke about that in a recent video
Maybe it was just me, but I was really underwhelmed by the show, mainly what was on show for the smaller vans (T6 / Transit). Just felt like it was the same stuff that's been on show for the last few years (but with more LED lights..). One of the converters listed above was talking to someone about residuals on the new Ford vs. new VW, he said in 5 years time the residuals will be far higher on the VW vs the Ford (which isn't a surprise, but good that they were being honest). The only smaller van I thought was interesting (and I have been waiting to see) was the new 2025 Westfalia Kelsey, some stuff on that van that no one has done - like the electric folding downstairs bed. But yeah, seemed to be the same stuff around, but being built on the Ford platform and cheaper than the T6 base vans (although quite a few of the prices were for the Ford base van with the 138bhp engine). Good vid mate!
@@saywellhq A lot have been working hard on the new Transit to get it right for the show. You will have noticed several where prototypes, as they are not yet finalised. The base vans also varied. Many going forward will be the camper donor vehicle as opposed to the Transit panel van. With van prices increasing so much, it’s understandable that converters want to show a good spec camper at the lowest price point they can. The only way they can do that is the cheaper base van, yet they still include good spec bed, poptop, electrics, hot water, etc. But that’s where people need to know that stuff to understand why 1 van maybe £60k, but another looks the same but is £75k. Some of these Ford conversions will be prep for the VW platform when it’s released. The price point will have a big effect on that. I’m really disappointed I didn’t see that, I was meant to, but despite being there for 2 days I didn’t get to see it all (too busy talking 😀) Thank you 👍🏼
"in 5 years time the residuals will be far higher on the VW vs the Ford" -- maybe? That would be true if the T7 was a pure VW, but if the T7 and the new Transit are basically the same van with some different cosmetic panels, why will the VW value be so much higher? Yeah ok, a bit higher cos of the badge, but surely not the kind of difference we've seen with previous models.
The New Transporter does have quite a few body differences, but underneath it will be Ford engines, drivetrain etc Although built at the same location, one will be built by Ford staff and the other VW. Even though many will look at them as the same van, many won’t, many won’t even know. A different residual value is still expected, like other brand partnerships have resulted in over the years. So many people are now priced out of buying a new van, myself currently included, but there is still a market (albeit contracted presently). I know of a few vans that were sold on the first day
New ford/vw has the Ford wet belt its only good for 50000 miles or Five years then you have a £1500 bill to replace it Ford moved the goal posts because they know they fitted an inferior product. Look up the reviews. Hope this isn’t the downfall of VW
Do you think people will be snapping up the last of the T6.1 van stock left in the UK? I stopoed in to a local VW van centre today and got the opinion there was still quite alot of van stock left. Not sure if the current T6.1 is a better deal over the new Transporter physically with the price being a consideration aswell.
Yes, well I have anyway. I bought a California. There are some incentives to be had. I looked at the New Ford and love the outside looks. I looked at the upcoming T7 before making my final choice.
Next time you speak to a converter, please ask them, have they considered building a 'non luxury' van?.... Like basic plywood,(I can paint them) netted shelves instead of cupboards, undersink water (not tanks) etc.. Like a home build, but not everyone has the skills of wants to. And, build a van for a single traveller...plus motorbike. Just wondering if they would & importantly, would it be any cheaper? Cheers
There would be numerous converters who would beable to do that. Speak to a reputable converter near you. There are also companies like The Ply Guys, Van Furniture etc who produce items like that. Add a kitchen pod and portable power station and you’re good to go 👍🏼
I have thought that since they were announced, it would perhaps be the one I would consider. There is a big price difference though. About £14k increase I saw one conversion from the diesel to the hybrid.
i can't help thinking that camper vans are just getting too fancy and expensive. Yes i could afford a £100K van but do I want to spend a £100 on a transporter with £7000 wheels, underfloor heating, the latest marine electrics, but no shower and no toilet. NO. I bought a Nissan NV 400 because they have been making it for years and have no known faults Good spec and I got it converted the way we wanted £26K for the van and £20 to convert. OK it's maybe not the same standard as the £100K van but is is good It's 5.5m and H2 roof rear lounge with shower and toilet. It's the cost of the base vans that has become so expensive. Your video of the show was great though. I did want to go but just too far from Bathgate.
Thank you. It is indeed the basevans that are the main cause of these price hikes. I always say it’s irrelevant what anyone has. It’s about using what you have and getting out and enjoying the lifestyle. Some like the tech and creature comforts, others don’t.👍🏼
I don’t suffer that problem 🤣 They aren’t for everyone. Maybe a bigger vehicle is needed, but you could lose the daily drivability. Have you tried one?
@@StaycationLifestyle We have had a few T4s on hire and it was a bit of a nightmare, but had bigger ones on hire, but then you lose that daily drivability element to it. Its all about decisions and choices. Thanks for the reply.
On that basis the next video sponsored by VW 🤣 Neither even know I exist 🤷🏻♂️ The video was showing how this show it’s changed as most converters are bringing the Transit to the table (probably in prep for the new VW 👀)
Have you heard of any reliability issues of the new one? Genuine question, as some say it’s changed and I’ve not heard of any problems yet. I actually quite like the look of the new one, think it’s improved. £80k is big money though, but the base vans themselves aren’t cheap anymore
So the future of small campers is… exactly the same as the past (but perhaps on a different base vehicle? Disappointingly samey - every Transit custom and Transporter has the same old layout with rock and roll bed, poxy side kitchen, pop-top and no real storage? Where’s the innovation that might make me think there is actually something of the future to see?
The point was moving from the Transporter. However there is a lot of variety, the reason you don’t see it as much, is because people keep buying the layout you describe. Why? Because it suits them. Bodans, Bilbo’s, Westfalia all build different layouts. Ecowagon are often sliding beds. Bespoke have hot showers and innovative products (not yet featured) There really is a lot of variety, but most converters manufacture what people frequently buy. The rear kitchen layout with large wardrobe is great, but people seemingly want the “disappointingly same”
@@StaycationLifestyle Have you ever tried to get any kind of work done by a Ford dealer? they are the absolute worst, they make VW look like saints in comparison. Not to mention Ford vans have a whiff of a certain part of society that most people would not want to be associated with.

No Thanks
i can't help thinking that camper vans are just getting too fancy and expensive.
Depreciation on these will be scary !!
I just want a 2 seater van with a real bed and Poptop, sleeps 2 only.Does no one make one?
The Vanworx van for that money is crazy ,no shower or toilet ,not for me thanks but somebody will pay it .
One was ordered whilst I was there I believe.
Goes back to what I say a lot. We are all different, with different tastes, requirements and budgets
The transits are lovely, but I am 6ft 2 and spending any amount of time in that van, for me, is a no no.
Can you buy tickets on the door or is it sold out?
It’s not sold out. I think you have to buy tickets before. The website is www.mcshow.co.uk
Don't believe it. The next one at £186.000 base vehicle again. Last one on video
That one is a very high spec van
If I was looking to buy a camper van it would have to be a Mercedes’
They are now starting to be more popular. More converters building on the platform.
First 20 minutes sponsored by Ford 🤦🏻♂️🤣
On that basis the next video sponsored by VW 🤣 Neither even know I exist 🤷🏻♂️
The video was showing how this show it’s changed as most converters are bringing the Transit to the table (probably in prep for the new VW 👀)
@@StaycationLifestyle was in jest obviously 😉🤣👌🏽
If it ain’t electric, it ain’t the future. Turn on your TV or come to London!
@@johnstraw6138 The short term future. The vehicles people could be replacing their VW Transporters with.
Who’s buying a Ford for 80 grand , must be mad , ugly unreliable rubbish 🤣
Have you heard of any reliability issues of the new one? Genuine question, as some say it’s changed and I’ve not heard of any problems yet.
I actually quite like the look of the new one, think it’s improved.
£80k is big money though, but the base vans themselves aren’t cheap anymore
Exactly right!
If they still have the wet belt stay clear .
What a muppet
Got the vw engine now .. worth the extra £20 k , not to have a wet belt engine ..
Bespoke have hot showers and innovative products (not yet featured)
There really is a lot of variety, but most converters manufacture what people frequently buy.
The rear kitchen layout with large wardrobe is great, but people seemingly want the “disappointingly same”
Those Ford’s are 🤮
Snap up a 6.1 while you still can. 👍🏻😎
I would like too 😀
Too be honest, I’m actually quite like the look of the new Transit 🤦🏼♂️
@@StaycationLifestyle Have you ever tried to get any kind of work done by a Ford dealer? they are the absolute worst, they make VW look like saints in comparison.
Not to mention Ford vans have a whiff of a certain part of society that most people would not want to be associated with.
Our local one used to be decent to be fair. That was a good 10 years ago though
Hi .
Are you Mike Bassett (English managers) Son or relative?
Thanks 👍🏼
So you think I look like him 🤣
80k Ford lol
