Many thanks

    Thanks for the video and enjoyed the show ourselves on Friday. The Eriba van looked nice and suspect the wheels are what we will see on the new Sven as standard. One thing which would really concern me is the carpet material on the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. With all the care in the world you will surely end up with mold? Fibrous cloth material is that last thing I would use in any bathroom never mind a van which over the period of use will have more moisture thah a house. I guess time will tell for those who purchase.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому

      I suppose it depends what the material actually is as it could be nylon or recycled plastic fibres that wouldn't hold moisture. Needs further investigation.

    Interested to see the comments on the Eriba Car. I’d been looking at this on the Eriba website and using the configurator and struck by the value for money. Agree that it’ll sell like hot cakes, looks and design way better than the Grand California and will challenge the pricing of the other German competition.

      Actually for the first time we have been going to the NEC shows, YES! The Westfalia Columbus 540d on the Wandahome stand is a brand new model including the new ducato base van and it had £5k off list. Last time at the show Wandahome were giving away a tracker and alarm... so yes, better discounts!

    I love seeing all the innovation (slide out, custom shower trays, polystyrene interiors, fancy skylights etc etc) but to justify these prices these vans need to have 25 year life spans so good luck trying to find parts for these vans in 20 years! My Vantage might be built like a 1990s caravan but the worse I'm facing in another 10 years is veneers that don't quite match.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому +1

      I must admit the more custom electronic stuff I see in the vans the more I worry about longevity too. I like in the westfalias that they have moved to the dometic control panel rather than their own OEM panel, as this might be more serviceable in the future etc.

      Depends what bits you’re after. If it’s bits to build a van then it’s not great. If it’s awnings, camping stuff like bbqs, chairs, crockery, tvs etc etc then pretty good!

  • @chrislongstaff9016
    @chrislongstaff9016 3 місяці тому

    Great video, thanks. Am I correct in thinking that the Bailey B65 is fairly similar to the Swift Trekker X ? I do like the look of the Trekker X, but the diesel heating and clever bathroom door of the Bailey are tempting.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому

      The B65 is a rear lounge layout like the Trekker XL (not the X, that's a rear bed). The diesel heating is a big plus - we wouldn't fancy a van with gas heating if we could help it but if you are on a lot of sites with electric hookup it would be ok. Gas systems do use quite a bit of gas if you're heating the van a lot. I remember Andrew Ditton did a video where he used a 13kg bottle in 6 days whilst using a Truma Combi gas heating system. Remember also the Bailey has a pop top and the Trekker XL doesn't, so that is where some of the price difference comes from.

    • @chrislongstaff9016
      @chrislongstaff9016 3 місяці тому

      @@CampervanTime I was thinking of the original Trekker X and the new B65, both rear transverse fold away beds.. I guess the XL is closer to the B62. And to complete the picture to me the B63 looks similar to a B64 without a pop up roof, and slightly different front lounge layout. Interesting stats on Gas usage, thanks for that.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому

      Didn't really see any there but that isn't to say there weren't - we obviously were looking at certain types of van but there was certainly a trend at this show towards bigger vans rather than smaller. Micro caravans yes though.

  • @philiprussell9656
    @philiprussell9656 3 місяці тому

    Great video BTW. We love the Sven and intend the buy a 2025 model. However, your enthusiasm for the Eriba has questioned our decision. There is a significant price difference although comparing the two isn't straight-forward. Putting aside the underfloor heating in the Sven and cosmetic design differences they both use the same chassis, engine, and electronic aids. It is the same van but configurable and probably £10K+ cheaper. The Eriba in a van format is however unproven. So our question is what does the Sven have to justify its additional £ and not remain your best buy for 2025?

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому

      Very good question and we've just had a chat about that. It would be a close call I think in 2025 if we didn't have a van and we were trying to chose between them. We think we'd probably still go for the Sven - main benefits being: heating system not being blown air (+underfloor obviously), bench seat that reclines/is adjustable for comfort, no cupboards in the garage under the bed meaning easier to store different things (2x bromptons, boxes, long chairs etc etc) and the pop out as we're not overly keen on the flares that have to be added to sleep transverse in a TGE/Crafter. That said, there is a big saving (over a Sven) to be had with the EribaCar...

    Hi, love the review and you’re my “go to” reviewers! I’m blaming you for hours of internet camper watching…..
    Were you disappointed with the 2025 Sven? I think one of the upgrades on the 2025 was the electric hook up option for the heating and I remember from one of your previous videos comments it was something you’d like to have.
    Do you also know if the alloys that are supplied on the 2025 are the Deltas? The Westfalia info I’ve seen is very vague and they don’t look like them in the small pic in the catalogue.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому +1

      We weren't disappointed with the new edition of the Sven, it's just a bit different. We'd still have ordered one even now if we didn't have ours. The electric heating option would be nice but the diesel heater is economical so not a big issue for us. The alloys on the 2025 are the MAN 17" alloy option - Lismore is what they are called on the Crafter (in black, from the factory).

    I went to the Isle of Skye in 2022 for a first campervan trip in a Ford Rental. It was noticable to see many Germans in Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 vans, it was new to see these vehicles to me. Now in 2024 it seems they are being pushed as high end vans to sell to Brits, trying to push up peoples spending with this trend.

    The new Columbus looks like a step back from the previous one. No more drying rack in the washroom, no more skylight in the washroom too so steam gets trapped. Less drawer space in the kitchen and blander interior. In the top cupboards, they've moved the locking mechanism bang in the middle of the storage surface, how stupid.

    • @CampervanTime
      @CampervanTime  3 місяці тому +1

      The new design certainly is different. We were surprised on the Sven they have done away with the two drawer custom fridge but I can understand why when you look at the new dometic control panel they're using etc.
