- Fleetwood Mac performs live The Chain on Tango in the Night tour in 198 with two new guitarists Billy Burnette and Rick Vito. That´s the best version of The Chain I´ve ever heard!! Enjoy!
Christine was just gorgeous in this concert video ! ---------And her voice as always was perfect. -----------------------WolfSky9
I still believe that this line-up was ----------- by far---------THE best FM of all-time. Both Vito & Burnette were total pros who did a fantastic job, coming in at such a late time, to help make this tour the best ever. ------------and, they could seriously wail on those guitars ! -------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Always love Billy's voice and Rick guitar solo (His solo music also my favorite too 🙂)
Agree 100%
This my favourite FM line up. I really like Lyndsey but really like the sound Rick and Billy bring.
I saw them on the Tango in the night tour in Edinburgh, Scotland, they were AMAZING !!!!!!!
Rick Vitto great job!
For some reason, this is the best verson / rendition of the song. I guess these comments explain why.
Fleetwood Mac... The best of the best tours...all times...by far.... The best team
I really love this line up. Both guitarists are great.
Billy was really great with Fleetwood Mac.
I saw this tour(first time I ever saw FM). They were great! Amazed I could see the rest of the members over Stevie's Big 80s hair!!!!!!!!!!!
Joseph Caranant
My first time too. 11-7-87 Tampa SunDome. I've seen them numerous times since...and even last month with Neil and Mike. All versions of FM great. It's about the music and the talent and the memories!
Stevie and Christine both look really fantastically beautiful in this vid..
Superb guitar playing in this version i like different versions of songs great!
saw this lineup at the cow palace great show
Once of the best live versions of The Chain. Thanks for the upload
Billy Burnette was a fantastic guitarist, & Rick Vito complimented him perfectly------much like Phil Collen & Steve Clark of Def Leppard. BOTH were outstanding --each playing parts that worked together with John's Bass guitar. --------------Wolfsky9
With apology : Rick Vito was THE guitarist par-excellence. ---------Billy Burnette -----Dorsey's son----played like the pro he is, & sang wonderfully. ------As I stated : for me, LB was not missed at all. Good Riddance. ------------WolfSky9
Yeah!! I saw them on the Tango in the night tour - This version of Fleetwood Mac put on a great show. Happy memories...
the crazy eyes are the best part of the video
even without LINDSEY, they still pulled this concert off beautifully! I think Rick and Billy did a wonderful show! and this was a very exciting concert especially Mick doing his solo act with the body drums! loved the whole show!!!!!💝💞💟🌠🌟🎸🎸🎶🎵🎵🎼🎤
C'mon man, That's Rick Vito!!
Always nice to see Patrick Swayze on guitar.
This incarnation of Fleetwood Mac doesn't get the respect it deserves. I found this group more listenable than the current Neil Finn/Mike Campbell concoction. Billy Burnette and Rick Vito breathed some new life into the band.
There are many magnificent guitarists and singers in the world. It goes and comes!
Each time I relive this concert----------I was there, at the old Cow Palace-------I still say Vito & Burnett were sterling additions . Both added so mcu to the music. RIP to my Favorite, Christine . Miss you darling. --------------MJL< 76 y/o
Best version of the chain, awesome.
THE very best FM line-up of all-time! I saw them 2 times that year, & they never ---ever--sounded better. LB was not missed, for even one second. ----------------WolfSky9
Wolfsky9 + Really? Ill bet you even dressed like those guitar players! Lindsey is Fleetwood Mac!
Wow, brilliant Fleetwood nail it every time. Such talent
Let's keep this in perspective people. It was Lindsey Buckingham who announced (at the eleventh hour) that he was quitting the band and not participating on the "Tango In The Night" tour. To say it left the band in a VERY awkward position is an understatement
On extremely short notice, the group hired two newbies who were drafted into the Mac immediately. Given the circumstances, they did a fine job. Granted, neither were Lindsey Buckingham but they were good. So ease up on the hate folks!.....
I was there. Rip Christie 💔😞
Hey, you think Billy and Rick can't play. I've been a pro rock guitar man since my first gig in 59. I've met em, I've hear em and they true hot rods. Why do you think they got the call? Truth is they are well known and highly regarded in the industry. They got the gig cause they can cut it. Besides, who would turn down an offer like that.
Mscott ashley well said!
Some people are such friggin idiots...always complaining and comparing. It's like STFU and listen. They are all talented in their own rights!!
100% agree mate
They are nothing but a cover band without Lindsey. I saw them twice without him and wished that I had blown my money at the track instead.
@@difranma Totally agree! I feel bad for Neil Finn and Mike Campbell from their latest incarnation of the group. Buckingham has such a presence, personality, distinctive voice, and style of guitar playing that no one Mick Fleetwood has lined up to fill in for or replace him has even come close. I mean no disrespect to the talented musicians including those mentioned who were brought on board but none of them were really the right fit and the group was incredible ordinary and rather dull with Buckingham. Christine McVie R.I.P.
Lindsey once commented after he left the band in 1987, that he though it was funny that the band had to bring in two guitarist to replace him, but i think the new members did a very good job in this clip.
And history repeats itself in 2018. Not the same two guys replacing him but still..... Glad I saw the "Rumours" Line up in 2015....
this is the best LIVE incarnation of the band, with Rick Vito on gtr--(that's Rick with the Tele on your right). he's the best gtr-player who ever played in this band, no doubt.
Stevie is so beautiful
Rick❤️🎸
Love this song, thanks for uploading!
Did anyone else notice the two Demons??
1. A Red One in the beginning
2. A Black One when the drums start the melody beat??
i accept that it's a matter of taste, but technically ( as a life-long player myself ) Rick is by far a much better player, with a much broader range of styles and capabilities. he can shred, swing, rockabilly, slide ( 'running on empty', 'like a rock' ) country, jazz...you name it, rick Vito is 'the Kand'...you just gotta get to know his playing! he's incredible.
Press F to pay respect to the greatest version of FM.
that's what I was thinking :)
dudes eyes bout to pop
He always has that look when he plays...
Lindsey left the band when Tango In The Night was selling great...he left the band when they needed him. Luckily these two very talented musicians stepped in and added something to the band. I saw this tour and it was great!
Damn straight this was a great tour !!
muy buena. Power.
Those are some wild eyes there Mr. Drummer. However, he was always the one to seem to have the most fun on stage.
i think the new two guitarists did a great job of picking up buckinghams slack.
I like this lineup better than the one with Lindsey. He's missed here on this song...especially the intro. I've never liked Buckingham's singing on these songs live onstage.
Rick Vito is a great guitarist...to step in on this tour and to do what he did...amazing. Amazing
He actually seemed to understand the stage sound and the balance better. When his leads were done, he blended in...unlike Buckingham.
gordy hanson I agree
Because he had the luxury of a second guitar player. If your saying Lindsey couldn't do what these guys could, you are crazy! If you play guitar you know sometimes its hard to get back to ultra clean after ripping on a lead.
La mejor presentación de este tema fue en la gira The Dance ❤
Oh no!! And she says do not break the chain!
wow
NOOO....FRANCISCO ! THIS IS ONE OF OUR BEST !
u gotta remeber by this tour everyone was "burnt out" they admit it on the behind the music speical. I think this tour they tried something diff which is nice to see i dont think its a bad performance but not there best
Fleetwood Mac had two guitarists or as many as three durring the late 1960's and early 1970's blues era.
it's one of the best. i'm not saying that these guys are better then Lindsey. They did well with these guys.
get off the guitar players Lindsey 11hours before the show I think they did a damn good job considering!!!! So blow off unappreciated people for real get a damn life!!!!!
Of course you can't ever replace Mr. Buckingham but it's still awesome the way they extend the final solo out for a bit longer than usual. Nothing will top Lindsay's Mirage '82 solo though, agreed.
OMG, why you Lindsey´s lovers can´t understand that this is another kind of performance of The Chain. And if one is different to other it´s clear that somebody would like that better and the other one that second like. It´s really difficult to understand that? Yes, Lindsey is legendary guitarist, but that these two guys plays this song different and that doesn´t mean automaticaly that this is worse. And someone (like me) rellay like Tango late 80s style, where is not important who plays guitar.
I'm here for John's bassline
The best version?!?!
He left in 1987 and rejoined in '97. These 2 guys replaced him.
great track LOLS AT 0:55
the music of formula one nothing else will do
actualy the best live version of this song is from the 97 dance tour... go watch it it's arround here somewhere... and all u haters.. lindsey may not be great solo but with this band he's got chemistry and his guitar skills are far superior to these guys.. just watch the dance version of this song u will see...
Wow. So this is who Bone Thugs N Harmony sampled from? Kool!!
I totally agree with you...how could his intellect convince anybody..since he obviously has none.
picky - picky - picky
its great music
no matter what
Actually they did a great job on this song...shows that the show could go on without Mr. B.
este parcito de guitarristas o suman ni medio Lindsay !!!!
drummers out of control
Two guys that do not make a fucking half of Lindsay!!
Most of these comments are ignorant!!! Don't have a clue of real talent. Too bad for u. Listen to those keyboards machines. Wake up!!!!
well, at least you've shut off the foul language.i'm a pro musician--make my living by playing--and this opinion of Vito's excellence is not limited to just me...Rick's versatile, creative, and a superior player.
last time i saw them, they used ghost players offstage ( common in rock shows ) carrying the piece so Lindsey could strut w/out actually playing...sorry, but truth...i know the guy who was the ghost.
is it a Fleetwood Mac concert or an ad against cocaine?
It is the thing that should not be.
first, what is up with some of the looks mick is giving? at 1:57 is one. really bizarre.
what i wanted to say is: this is a great song but it's missing buckingham. john mcvies base is really rocking in this.
What's with Fleetwood's eyes? WOW!
Is it drugs?
IMHO, Buckingham is the most replaceable of the five Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac members. I've seen lots of comments about how people won't see FM because Lindsey's not in it. I wonder if they saw FM live when Christine was out. Buckingham has always struck me as being a "my way or the highway" type of guy and not easy to get along with. I've only gotten to see FM once, and it was the third show with the Campbell/Finn duo (they played four pre-1975 songs!)
Fleetwood mac without Lindsey Buckingham is so bad. Really miss his voice and guitar here.
@1776vtgmb
yeah, he was a coke addict for over 20 years. that amount of drugs is gonna mess with your brain a bit.
FWM the chain without Lindsay do me a faver i seen this line up it in Dublin loved it then but i was a young mac fan seen all tours since except Dave mason Rebecca bramlett line up thank fuck it was Mick darkest days he said not me.anyway billy singing any of Lindsey songs sorry but no
To RPMc'murphy : Sir, please! Do yourself the favor of learning English grammar & spelling, so you avoid embarrassing your self with this meaning bunch of sheer gibberish. ------Maybe you don't KNOW OR CARE, but sir--you really should; otherwise, just avoid entries here on YT, please. -----------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
wth is that at 0.27???!!!
He doesn't have Lindseys voice ,but the guitar work is awesome ,and if you were at the show it would have sucked NOT to hear Lindseys songs ,I saw he show and loved it .
keith jones agree great guitar though
Absolutely great lead work!! Gay clothes though!
Actually this is a great performance...Lindsey was easily replaced..he is a great guitarist but these two did a great job replacing him..and vocally..they are much better...Lindsey is not a good vocalist..that is why his solo material bombs.
we all know where Nick blew his money, up his nose
Andrew Lawson who the fuck is Nick?!
i think its gonna take more than 2 guitarists to replace lindsey. hes one of a kind
Can anyone explain the frankly scary looks Mick gives at 1:54 & 2:12???
he does that because he's Mick and he can :)
Suprahampton cocaine
you mean without Lindsey.
its actually kind of creepy...her at 4:39
it's not unusual to know a lot of people when you live in Nashville. you can't shake a cat without whacking 50 guitarists, and it's not difficult to know a LOT of people...not someone's cousin, knucklehead.
ghost players are fairly common...if you knew anything, you'd know that.
Rick and a few ex-Mac players are planning something new...be watching. evidently THEY think as highly of him as a lot of nashville does...
I agree with all of the poast I've seen them live in 2009 and I like Lindsey Better
I feel like the band has no passion on this version. And I mean, BAND, not Vito and Burnett. I feel like they just can't be bothered.
Lindsay Buckingham is what stifled the bands success due to his bitter attitude toward Stevie.
davidzilldz + Stevie was a hoe unfortunately.
haha mick is wicked fucked up
BY THIS TIME STEVIE NICKS DIDN'T EVEN LOOK LIKE THE SAME PERSON FROM '81 --------THE DRUGS WERE TAKING A TERRIBLE TOLL ON HER & HER FACE SHOWED IT.
the first time they replaced lindsey buckingham with 2 members.
They don't sound like woman. This is a LIVEperformance, so it sounds different.
When LB quit prior to this tour, they had to hire TWO people to replace him.
I think that says it all.
AdamG1983 + Totally agree!
They didn't "have" to: it was a choice they made to create the sound they sought.
It's amazing two guitar players to equal Lindsey lol
There is no passion in this version. It sounds like a good cover band.
Lindsey may not be as "technical" as Vito, but I assure you he does not need a ghost. If that is the case then who was Vito's ghost. I guess there is a ghost on the live acoustic versions of Big Love, Go Insane, or I'm So Afraid. If I was a ghost for FM when Lindsey plays with them, I would lie and say I played his parts as well, because many people are jealous of those who are great.
Well...I don't smoke weed and Lindsey cannot sing well...sorry...that is why his solo material bombs....he sucks without Fleetwood Mac.
Probably makeup. :P
Are you serious...whether you like it or not he was a member of Fleetwood Mac and did a great job...vocally he is even better than Lindsey and with the guitar he is equal to Mr. B. Lindsey had a terrible attitude like yours and he couldn't be a team player and that is why he left. His solo material sucks and does not sell so he came crawling back..he knows which side his bread is buttered on...he should be thankful they took him back.
Yeah long time ago but still. this could be one of the stupidest comments ever.
But it’s not fleetwood mac!
Lindsay was crap these two are much better 🎸
