    Great shave. The Fat Boy looks great. Grow the goatee back sometime and let it get some length so see how you look. I have my Daddy's Fat Boy, 1959, 4th qtr. I pulled it out a couple years ago, ultrasonic cleaned it, lubricated it, polished, and repainted the numbers. It looks like brand new now. To date myself, I first learned to shave with Daddy's Super Speed Flair Tip, then moved on to his Fat Boy. Whenever I shave with either of those razors it brings back memories of peach fuzz and Old Spice or Barbasol!!
    Have a great and safe weekend!!!

    it would be cool to give it away, but watching someone else enjoy it, as in you, is also very cool. I love to shave these days because of wet shaving, and since I cant shave every day I watch you guys on youtube. so the razor is cool to give away or keep in my opinion. im just happy to be a part of this hobby.

    Sterling truly give the best bang for your buck, Barbershop is my favorite scent. There must be something different in the scent of the pre-shave oil and the soap. Love the soap! I've only tried MIA and Barbershop, I need to try these scent you've used. Awesome video💈And I vote John Lennon mustache. Like so many others, it boggles my mind of what other works, he would have done.

I just bought a *E3 1959 Fatboy listed as: Excellent condition, fully functional* but… as my first vintage Gillette adjustable I don’t have anything to reference to it’s working condition. • @JMac.
      @JMac. 3 роки тому +1

      @@greg6162 congrats on the win!! And hmmm that’s a tough one, as I don’t know any videos off hand that go through a Gillette Fatboy in detail…. I could do one and upload it Wednesday, but other than that I can try to talk you through it. Biggest thing to look for, does the 1-9 adjustment dial work through all settings and “click” on each number. Make sure the razor is loosened up a bit before doing this. Also, does the TTO knob work freely and clearly, and does it have the 1/4 turn…. So when you tighten the TTO knob… it should turn another little bit and that helps lock the blade in. If Both of those things I mentioned are working, then you are pretty much good to go.

    • @SinatraLennon

    Just got my first Stirling soap yesterday. It is Pearberry, and smells to me just like sour apple candy haha. Will be trying it out tonight when I shave. I think that the polishing cloth was a hint 🤔 How long did it take to get that back from Razor Emporium? Although I have a Rockwell 6S, I would like to eventually find a Fat Boy razor for nostalgic reasons. Is ebay a good source or are other vendors a better bet?

    • @classiccarbuff
      @classiccarbuff 3 роки тому

      It's not, they even include it with safety razors that have been completely revamped. It took a couple of weeks for me to get my razor back from Razor Emporium and it was in far worse condition than SinatraLennon's 1960 Gillette Fatboy. All I'm going to mention is that good vendors aren't a better bet to buy a Fatboy.

    I've got a question, maybe someone here can be of help, but I don't know where else to ask. I made a shaving soap, I put some into 8oz tins and some into tubes(like a travel shave soap). I notice rubbing the stick soap onto my skin and then lathering with the brush gives a better lather than loading lather into the brush from the tin, what am I doing wrong? Does the brush need more water? My technique is obviously not very good with the tin.

    • @SinatraLennon
      @SinatraLennon  5 років тому +1

      I sometimes have trouble lathering with certain kinds of brushes. Is your brush a natural bristle or synthetic? The amount of water to soap ratio can also be a cause for either a good lather or a weak one. Keep trying with different amounts of water on the brush. Don't put too much or else it will make a very thin lather. Let me know how you do!

    • @MelanieH1422
      @MelanieH1422 5 років тому

      Thanks for the reply! I ended up, after posting my comment, finding another video about lathering, and I figured out I had actually been leaving my brush too dry when loading from the tin. I have a synthetic, a Razorock synthetic plisoft barber brush. What's the difference between natural and synthetic bristles in terms of lathering?

    Makes me wonder if you could use the hard soaps, like that one, the way you used Arko. Maybe soften it slightly by dunking in the water if it is too hard, then rub it on your face, then brush?
    Or maybe in general, soften and squish a soap into a plastic/cardboard tube, wait for it to harden, then try to get it out? wrap in foil and use like Arko?

    • @SinatraLennon

      Just curious if Arko has anything special to make it "Face usable" or if any soap can potentially be used that way and it's just a shape thing. Curious.. I'll see if I can try someday with some cheap relatively soft soap/cream.

    In my, humble(yes it is,,,no arguments! :P ), opinion after going to all the trouble of acquiring the Fatboy and then having it tuned up; I would keep it. Perhaps, as a display, conversation or museum piece, while "Grungy" does the heavy lifting of actual shaving.
    How many Fatboys does anyone need? I supposed from the standpoint of pure functional practicality and/or necessity, one only "NEEDS" one razor of any sort. But speaking from an enthusiast's and/or collector's perspective; One Fatboy, One Slim Adjustable, One Black Diamond Adjustable(commonly known as Black Beauty)and for the hardcore completest- One Black Diamond Adjustable with the Long Handle and Plastic Base Plate. Then One has one of each Generation/Decade and Evolution. Probably, collectors of the Gillette Super Speed Flair Tips of the various colored handle tips can relate.

      If I decide to give it away, you’ll be one of the first to know! Do you have any mayonnaise based dipping sauce for those pomme frites?!

    • @kimheymans6662
      @kimheymans6662 5 років тому

      SinatraLennon off course! Mayo is the number 1 sauce to go with the fries over here! But obviously it has to be the real deal, not the crappy sweet one from Holland 😂
      Just mustard, an egg, a bit of vinegar and seasoning, start mixing while carefully dripping oil into the mixture until it reaches the right consistency :)
      Add to the fries baked twice in ossewit (don't know translation but it's a white sort of beef fat as you should never fry in oil!).
      Eat this once and you'll never want to eat any other fries again 🤤
      If you'd ever visit Belgium, let me know, I'll trade you some for a Fatboy 🤣

      You’re making me hungry! Love of fries and various dipping sauces is my downfall. I don’t have a sweet tooth so much as a fat tooth. Fries for a FatBoy! If I ever get over to your neck of the woods, you’re on!

    I’ve never shaved with a double edge safety razor (normally just use cartridge razors) so put my name in the hat if your giving away the Fat Boy razor. I would love to try a double edge safety razor. One day you should try a Hulk Hogan type horseshoe mustache.

    The recipe for the beard oil is most likely a carrier oil + a few drops essential oils. Green color could be avocado oil. Essential oils have to be diluted hence the “carrier” oil 😀 Passing muster downstairs!!! 🥴😉 LMAO
