Just picked up my slant again a week ago, found out I love it now. I've been researching new razors for the last two days and then this drops. Can't believe the timing, love it!
29 viewing from Texas. Recently found your channel and never knew I'd enjoy watching someone shave so much. But between the James bond decor and the great collection of equipment I'm hooked. I've learned a lot, i remember watching my grandfather lather up with a badger in his scuttle and shave with a straight razor. I've been very unhappy with modern razors and yesterday i made the switch. I ordered a starter kit from PAA in the sangre de drago ck-6 formula. I'm very excited as dragons blood is a smell I've enjoyed for decades as an incense. I'd love to see some videos about where you shop for blades and vintage collectibles alike. After watching several of your videos i have my eye on a vintage 60s model schick injector adjustable. The look just called to me. Thank you for the great videos and positive vibes all around. I didn't know i needed it as much as i have.
Hi Ken. Greetings from Torrington Connecticut where I'm expecting 10- 20 inches of snow. I enjoyed watching your video and I think I'm going to get a Slant razor in the near future. TAKE CARE AND SHAVE ON BROTHER!!
Thank you for all your videos. I live in China so I'm limited to which brands are easy to find but I'm starting with the generic plastic Feather razor but I'm excited to see how it goes. It should arrive today and if I like it it seems like there are so many ways I can go after that. I've found a few nice ones I can get online (like the Merkur 37C razor and Proraso has an online shop) but they are a much larger financial investment and I need to see if my face will even like it or not. Thanks for the tips!
Hey Ken great comparison shave. I can't get over the gap of that razor. I was nervous for you too...lol. I'm also a huge fan of the PA soaps and also the aftershave. Take care.
Hey Ken! I just had my darn water heater die too I’m doing a side by slant video tomorrow! I saw your video thumbnail and was afraid you beat me to it Great shave!
Great slant razor comparison, haven't tried one yet and don't think I'd start with that PAA lol. I have Black Droid on the way, my first PAA CK-6 soap and really looking forward to trying it after seeing you and others shave with it. Hope your hot water heater install goes smoothly!
I only have two, but I love slant razors. I have the Merkur 39C and Parker Semi Slant. The Parker is my favorite, I have the graphite color one I bought it from Shave Nation for $30.
Great shave. The head of the DS Cosmetic slant to me resembles the Maggards Slant head that I have in my den. I like the Maggards Slant as it works very well with my coarse hair, but I only use it on some occasions, not all the time due to its moderate aggressiveness. I’m actually thinking about going back to the Maggards Slant razor in one of my upcoming shaves, so I shall see how this will do this time. Have a good one!
Hi Ken, love all of your shave reviews very informative, have seen you use loads of DE razors and shavetts but i don't think i have seen you shave and review the razorine shavette would love to get your views on that.... maybe a future video? Stay well Ken regards Kevin!!!!
Have yet to get a slant added to my razor collection, but I did recently pick up a revamped Gillette Slim Adjustable from 3rd Quarter 1965. Shaves perfectly and smoothly in 2-3 passes. I am looking at the Merkur 37C and 39C as potential candidates for me.
Hi Sam. I also collect vintage Gillettes, it's a deep rabbit hole (!) as they are still tops imo. Their adjustables look cool and are really accommodating. You might also try the NEW open comb, in either short or long comb version - smooth & efficient with minimal blade feel. Recently I've acquired a Tech. Delivered the best shave I've had in decades. No wonder it once carries a boatload of patents and was offered to G.I.'s from WW2 through Vietnam. Honestly, I've yet to use a vintage Gillette that didn't perform flawlessly. Also like my Merkur 37C.
@@nicetna2010 I will definitely look into the classic look Gillette open comb razor down the line as well as a Tech. I do own a Merkur 15C, and I believe the open comb will be a little similar to it. I also own the Muhle R41. That one is one of the most aggressive razors I have to this date. You definitely feel the razor when you use that one. I started out in double edge safety razor shaving with the Van Der Hagen safety razor from Target and got the King C Gillette safety razor from Walgreens. From there, the collection grew.
For those cowboys looking for an "aggressive" razor: Yaqi double open comb SLANT; that is #1. Or if you want an efficient : Merkur Futur or Progressive
I find the Platinum Strangelets work best in my Merkur 34, which is odd because I started using them in the PAA Symmetry Straight Bar that became my go-to and they just left too many weepers on my face. After using them in my Merkur 34, really no nicking.
Hey Ken! I re-watched some of your older videos since I was planning to buy a soap that you already reviewed. Now I wonder... how is Monty the Dog doing and do you still own your '65 Mustang? Have a great week and stay safe mate.
I have a 37c. It is OK but feels cheap. Agree that slants are comfortable and efficient. DSC sounds a little over-priced. Other slants that you would recommend ? I am in an apartment now. No more home owner headaches. Happy trails.
Great shave Ken. The slant is really good for curves. Is Floid trying to put themselves out of business? Other than Floid Blue, Floid black was their second best selling fragrance. They couldn't make it fast enough at one. That really sucks about the hot water.
I got the Yaqi slant razor. The handle I put it on cost more than the cheap Yaqi head, but the shave is impressive! Buy the Yaqi Slant - if you like it, you can always buy a spendier slant - it won't shave any better than the Yaqi.
Great video, Ken. I know the video was about the razor, but I was more looking at the brush. I have big hands so, I perk up and take notes when I see a longer handled brush. Maybe I'll order some knots and turn some experimental handles on my wood lathe. Oh, and great wrist check... love the Seamaster. Mine's 2005, what year is yours? Cheers fr Nova Scotia
Nice one Ken💈💈 Well it's all in the forward exposure Ken, if a blade is neutral in exposure, the gap has less to do with the feel... Of course all this is a moot point as everything in shaving is so subjective. Too bad about Floid Black, but nice PAA made a homage to it. Water heaters are an antiquated piece of technology...bummer. Looked like a good shave to me, and the "slant" of the DSC was way more pronounced than the Merkur. Great video, thanks. Enjoy!
Hey Ken, thank you for the videos. They are a nice change of pace from the other videos I watch on UA-cam. I would like you advice on something: I want to get a new scent but can only pick one. I’m torn between Doppelgänger Black and Droid Black. Do you have a favorite between the two?
hi there Ken, I am planning on doing one. the T3 i dropped it cracked the handle replacing the handle with Shave Rite 210 handle thanks for your reply hugs wheelchair larry
Ken let me ask you have you ever had a soap get funky on you from puck layering? I go from puck to face as well but some people say you soap can kinda rot from getting wet. You’re take?
Slant razors are my favorites, thanks for making this video Ken. It would be nice if you to rate the razors. Best two piece razors to worst Best three piece razors to worst Best butterflies razors to worst Best bakelite razors worst And so on.
I'm pretty sure that DS Cosmetics slant is a clone of the RazoRock Wunderbar. It looks *extreeeeeemely* similar. That's not necessarily a knock against it, just saying it's most likely not an original creation.
Too many original DE SE or slant razors are insanely expensive. also too me slant razors just look ugly and stupid, great shave on you though and video as well good. Stay safe cheers...Peter
I am not talking anymore. My grandfather passed away last Monday morning around 1:00 am. He passed away because he had several rupture vertebrates on his back and he was in a lot of pain. Last week was the worst week of my life. I don’t want any negativity in my life anymore, I just want to be alone. In fact, this is my last comment I’m ever going to post on this channel. Thanks for your understanding ken.
Had my 37C for many years, love it.

top shave Ken !! have a great weekend

Nice shave Ken! I love the slants for smooth and efficient shaves. Good burn with that PAA aftershave
Nice video Kensurf... thank you...
Huge fan from Czech Republic! Man Im tryin DE on my head and im lovin IT! Im enjoy every second of your videos. Thank you and stay safe!
The Paa Droid soap is a awesome homage to the Floid Black🖤🖤😍😍.Great stuff and great shave👍💈💈😀😀😀
thats quite a run for a water heater! i remember when ours went it did not go quietly…water everywhere…
Ah yes, the joy of home ownership. That DSC slant is a beast because you were lookin' pretty darned gnarly.
Awesome shave Ken, I've never tried a slant! I'm actually watching this video on my work lunch break.
Thank you for all your videos. I live in China so I'm limited to which brands are easy to find but I'm starting with the generic plastic Feather razor but I'm excited to see how it goes. Cracking shave Ken. I had a Razorock 37 slant and didn't like it at all. I hope your water heater is up and running soon 🤙

Try agharta from PAA if you get the chance. It’s great and lasts all day.
The Kensurfs Here.
When it comes to toilets, a flush beats a full house every time! Gotta get my hands on a slant soon!!
Excellent PAA shave, Ken!
I like my Parker slant razor. I believe it is the "Graphite" tint. It's heavy and 3 piece and works brilliantly paired with the MedPrep blade.
I also have the exact same razor work best
Nice shave Ken. Not sure I’m brave enough to try a slanted razor yet.
Have great rest of your day. Hope the water heaters up and running soon.
Ken, that's a beautiful brush and a great shave too. I never considered getting a slant..... until now 👍Love the detailed review
I only have two, but I love slant razors. I have the Merkur 39C and Parker Semi Slant. The Parker is my favorite, I have the graphite color one I bought it from Shave Nation for $30.
Yes if you have hard water, they only last 6 to 10 years, you got your monies worth.
Great shave. The head of the DS Cosmetic slant to me resembles the Maggards Slant head that I have in my den. I like the Maggards Slant as it works very well with my coarse hair, but I only use it on some occasions, not all the time due to its moderate aggressiveness. Congrats to 28000 subscribers Ken 💈 👌🙏
I’ve got the Parker semi. Never got the hang of it. May be time to revisit it. 👍🏻

Great shave Ken! I don't have slants, but I am OK with not having one. Take care.
Big fan, greetings from Serbia!! 💈💈
Great shave ! Beautiful razors. Hope all works out with the water heater. (VLS)
Ken I still haven’t got my Driod Black PAA hope this year will get one..
Heard it’s a great scent tho homage to floid black👍🏼👍🏼

Ken,i saponi Phoenix CK6 sono veramente fantastici.Ottima rasatura!👍☺️
Hey Ken I think PAA's Star Jelly is the greatest of all aftershave's
I have a couple of slants Parker vintage really don't care for but I like your videos
For those cowboys looking for an "aggressive" razor: Yaqi double open comb SLANT; that is #1. Or if you want an efficient : Merkur Futur or Progressive
All of yaqi razors are agressive. I haven't found one yaqi razor without blade feel.
That razor has a big gap, but neutral blade exposure, it seems. Do you still use it?
I find the Platinum Strangelets work best in my Merkur 34, which is odd because I started using them in the PAA Symmetry Straight Bar that became my go-to and they just left too many weepers on my face. After using them in my Merkur 34, really no nicking.
Definitely no credit card test needed on that beard this time Ken.

Hi Ken, how do you break in a boar brush?
Great shave Ken. The slant is really good for curves. Is Floid trying to put themselves out of business? Other than Floid Blue, Floid black was their second best selling fragrance. They couldn't make it fast enough at one. That really sucks about the hot water.
Looks like a RazorRock Wunderbar knock off to me

I want to get a new scent but can only pick one.
I’m torn between Doppelgänger Black and Droid Black.
Do you have a favorite between the two?
I've always been nervous about the huge blade gap with a slant. How do they compare with an R41?
Ken you got your money's worth out of that water heater. Surprised the guy didn't show up while you were shaving.
28K🙌
Looks like that DS is a copycat of the RazoRock Wunderbar, the Wunderbar is a great shaver with a thin blade.
👆 Yeah, that!
Китайская копия пластикового Fine superslant !
What blade was used Sir.
have you ever reknotted ??The ShaveRite 210! shave brush ? huggggs wheelchair larry
Not yet
hi there Ken, I am planning on doing one. the T3 i dropped it cracked the handle replacing the handle with Shave Rite 210 handle thanks for your reply hugs wheelchair larry

Imagine if the r41 was a slanted version💈🤕
Hey Ken, where do you get Skin Bracer novelty decanters (just joking!!!)?
Ken, are tou alright. You havent posted. That's not like you.
Ken, love your clips as always, but do you have early Jaundice?
I'm pretty sure that DS Cosmetics slant is a clone of the RazoRock Wunderbar. It looks *extreeeeeemely* similar. That's not necessarily a knock against it, just saying it's most likely not an original creation.
YES if your toilet gets blocked you're in the shit Ken.

@@OG_Jack I don’t trust UA-cam comments anymore other than Ken. I talked to my counselor about it. That’s it.
