    Good DIY. One thing you can try next time is to wash/clean the plastic before you sand it in case there is any mold release on the part as this would get ground into the part and could cause fisheyes in the final finish, dont ask me how I know this. The part looks great on the car, love the M5.

    Could clear coat be applied?

    If applying clearcoat you can also get satin effect clearcoat

    Looks great! Would you please put the paint color sku in your video description? Thank you.
    When I look for the paint on Amazon the picture of the paint can in your video lists it as a charcoal while the black color spray can on Amazon shows a green label.
    Just trying to figure out the really nice black color that you used.

    Can I do without the Adhesion Promoter I have a Stillen lip and they said it’s optional ?

      My understanding is you risk the paint peeling off with time when you don't use adhesion.

    Hey man, please help a fellow e39 m5 brother out. Where did you get that rear diffuser and how is the fitment? Thanks in advance.

      This is the Slimmbones diffuser, one of the better options out there but a pain to prep and finish. I would go with the CF option if I had to do it again. Fitment is ok but dont expect OEM. statusgruppe.com/product/bmw-e39-m5-97-03-finned-rear-diffuser-by-slimmbones/

      Quality control is non existent with Slimmbones …. Bought a CF one last year and if I line the diffuser up on one side there is a gap of more than an inch on the other!!

      @@mikeyeh7646 You may want to check out this one. I ordered one a while back and have it in the box in my garage, just havent tried to install it yet. It is ABS so the finish is way better and I hear others are very happy with fitment.

      @@NoGaragE30 thanks man 🙏 I have ordered one from Etsy and the retailer is called Lasscar and it’s from Ukraine as well. Hopefully the fit is good. My local CF will use it to create the mould . He does have a 3D scanner but becomes super expensive if he has to do the CF diffuser from scratch. Having the ABS Diffuser cuts down the cost etc. thanks again 🙏🙏

    I have a polyurethane front lip. I didn’t do this prep and didn’t use adhesive promoter and each time I paint it it chips and cracks. If I prep it just like this I should be good? Has the paint cracked at all or anything?

    • @NoGaragE30
      @NoGaragE30  2 роки тому +6

      I have had this on for over year now and it still looks great. Ask anyone in the biz and they will tell you paint is all about the prep work.

    • @droptopp3479
      @droptopp3479 2 роки тому +1

      yess the paint usually chips on poly lips because either you didnt prime it or didnt use adhesion promoter so the paint doesnt have anything to grab on or stick too really nice. When base coat paint dries, it creates a hard layer on the slippery poly lip and will crack and chip over time then flake off. Happened to me many times

      No all aftermarket parts that say primed it's not you have to sand it that stuff that comes on its just to protect the part.Also were rubber painters gloves so you don't get acid s and stuff from your hands and fingertips

    I work at a body shop and this was too much for this small price. A single stage paint and primer would’ve been just fine.

      Primer is never needed, but it is a huge help in getting a better finish part, it sticks better, covers imperfections, evens out.

    All that sanding is unnecessary all you have to do is paint it with paint and primer and a can of clean coat.

      Both sanding and stripping poly of mould residue is required for a long term problem free finish.
