You should also use a plastic adhesion promoter before the primer if you're painting a plastic front lip. It will help the primer and paint to stick to the plastic even more than just scruffing it up with sandpaper.
Like the tutorial. Unlike other guys moving there cameras so much can’t even tell what the process was or I can’t even hear them. Thank you so much. Will be attempting mines soon.
I need to repaint the spoiler on the 16 Mustsng GT I just bought. The previous guy did just a crappy rattle can job; looks horrible on an otherwise beautiful car. This finish is exactly what I want. This video helped with some tips, thanks!
Well, it been over a year since any comments have been made. I am in the process of Modifying and Painting a front splitter on my 67 L71 Corvette Coupe. The color is Marlboro Maroon. Hoping for a color match but because of the underside location of the splitter, I'm not overly concerned. I will follow your steps which are greatly appreciated!
The key is prep the masking if any and sanding is the most important part. It’s also better to apply all the coats in light coats. Wet coats don’t come out that good. I painted an entire car with aerosol cans sanded just like I had a gun and compressor then took it to a guy who owned multiple mechanic shops and has been painting for 6 yrs and he didn’t even know I used aerosol cans until I told him. It was also my first time ever painting a car.
At first when I saw your tweet yesterday(?) I thought you were going to paint it pearl white to match your car and I was like / how the heck?!?! But this makes sense now. Gonna look 💎 in the whip!
I was hoping to get some advice on how to fix my front lip spoiler but I did the exact same as you did. Looked stunning when it was done! Unfortunately the paint started cracking as soon as it first touched the road. It created cracks that went all the way up to the bumper. I'll have to remove the paint and come up with another way to paint this. Everytime that thing scrapes a tiny bit it keeps getting worse 😐
Use a plastic adhesion promoter after the initial plastic scuffing, then you can primer or paint. I recommend "SEM 39863 Plastic adhesion Promoter" (1 light coat and 5 minutes later a wet coat) 5 minutes after that you can prime or paint. Also, make sure your paint has a flex additive so it won't crack due to plastic flexing and temperature changes. Best of luck!
Excellent video! Thanks...now I can muster the courage to paint my spoiler. I bought some clear coat too, I am wavering on whether or not to use it. Any thoughts?
@@teslaownersonline5805 gotcha. So you choose to say it that way even though the correct pronunciation is "prah-sess". Always confused me. Just an fyi there's no A in ostrich but it's pronounced "aw-stritch" not "oh-stritch"
Good day Mr. Trevor Page, I would like to ask you a question please, apparently you know him personally Elon, could you please ask him a question about FSD, why doesn’t he do like Adobe, Photoshop, lease monthly FSD, I’m like you and Canadian it would cost me $10,800 to purchase, I own my model of three long-range dual motor since December 2019, I change vehicles every year, I’m looking to purchase this year and the month of December again the model Y, I’m not going to invest $11,000 for FSD, and do it again this year, in my opinion, it is not the right way, I think personally if he were to lease monthly the FSD, he might have a couple of hundred thousand Tesla owners, would be happy to be able to lease the FSD, thank you for taking the time to read this I appreciate very much your videos on UA-cam, again thank you hoping to hear from you, have a good day bye-bye.

I called Rustoleum and they told me their universal bonding primer was better to use.
Going to be doing this on my front lip and rear spats!! Thank you for such a clean and straight forward video!
I just tried my first project for a trunk spoiler . Following your guide I'll be back in a week . Thanks for the step by step !
It's been 2 years

What grit of sand paper did you use at the beginning?
Like the tutorial. Unlike other guys moving there cameras so much can’t even tell what the process was or I can’t even hear them. Thank you so much. Will be attempting mines soon.
This looks amazing for having done it yourself. I watched this video months ago, then left it sanded. I’m gonna prime it and paint it myself too.
Can you please mention the amount and bottles of paints?

You put the mask on when you actually spray right? This was very helpful to me as I'm prepping a bumper lip for my Miata so thank you for this.

It came out very well, thanks for the video!
I love your DIY videos, your skills are higher than basic, and your work is always impressive. Fun video.
With painting plastic do recommend going with a self etching primer for better adhesion when paint goes on top? Thanks
I'm flashing off while watching this. Thanks!
Bulldog adhesion promoter works well for primer to adhere.
Great video thanks! Is it okay to use 600 grit for sanding primer? (Paint mixer guy told me to use 600) And did you use a clear coat?
Did u clear it ?
Looks Great Man! Thanks For The Tips! Good Video
Great job Trev, I enjoyed watching the process!!
What the heck! I didn’t know you made ✈️. Edit, that actually turned out pretty good!
Hi thanks for this helpful video, can you share the different paints and primers you used? Hoping to try your tutorial out. :)

Wealth of knowledge here! Thanks
After the first coat of black, if you did have to wet sand again, what grit sandpaper would you use?
Great job. Looks factory....
Excellent and informative.
Amazing!!! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while! Awesome video! Is there any way you can put the links of the products you used?

Most excellent Trevor.
What are in your front pockets?
No clear coat?
what sound source do you use for your video clips?
Excellent video! Thanks...now I can muster the courage to paint my spoiler. I bought some clear coat too, I am wavering on whether or not to use it. Any thoughts?
How has it held up?
what is the clear coat that you used? It was not mentioned in either of your videos.
He didn’t use clear
Where were you when you were building and painting airplanes?
How long did it take to fully dry ?
Great video sir appreciate you👊
Is it polyurethane?
Good video
Link for spoiler?
AWESOME!!
if you wanted a satin finish you could have just left it as is without paint haha good tutorial regardless.
Is saying process as " Pro-sess" a Canadian thing? Just curious.
