Navigating a Malt requires a Compass Box?
Ah, good one!😄
When I'm navigating I drink rum like a pirate. Sometimes I end up lost at sea.
Brilliant, I’m the same!
Then you come across a storm! Also the need to fart 💨. 😂
'whisky tasting is better for exercising your brain than all the crosswords and sudoku combined' will go on our next whisky club t-shirt
1000 coming up!
Genuinely excited for you sir.
What a marvelous way you're doing. Thank you for taking us for the ride
You are the Master & Commander of whisky navigation Ralfy - just don't run aground on that bottle of Bells behind you for goodness sake! 😲😲
Since you mentioned cheap drinks Ralfy…. Review 666 with the mixet drinks and your brother is still legendary ❤ ❤we need something similar for 1000
"as useful as a fart in a storm" - I'll have to remember that one.
Watched this after a nice meal at a good hotel and having taken a Loch Lomond 18 from their menu up to my room. It was my first LL18 and I was pleasantly surprised!
Interestingly, the things you pointed out here were all known to me. However, the way you connected them and the connection I could make with the LL18 experience, opened up a whole new navigational dimension which I may stabilize now and then it could become an important stepstone for future Tasting -Navigations.
I hope every distillery is a sub to Ralfy.... They could learn an awful lot from him.
Can you do re review of current blue label ? What have changed in 11 years from your old review ❤
. . . I dread the ordeal, especially the price.
I'm with Ralfy re ABVs over 60%. That's way too hot for my palate at the moment, and yes more alcohol can sometimes mean less flavor since ethanol itself is flavorless. I don't really want a whisky that I have to add 10 ml of water to. So I like to stick between 45-55%. And thanks Ralfy for the education on cask palleting, I knew standing them up were bad but not why.
Not all cocktails are meant for getting "pished". Try an Old Fashionned, a Mint Julep or even a Mai Tai. These are spirit centric cocktails and when done with good quality spirits, they can be enjoyed slow sipping just like a dram of single malt.
Good analysis Ralfy of palletizing casks and its downfalls. An important consideration.
... I had and have great teachers in my life ... and you are one of them ... thank you ... 🤗
Hilly Ho Ralfy! Luv you content, however your vids are a bit long. Time is tight. Please consider cutting them down. You're rambling on a bit too, lad. Also, I just finished getting to an vid your dropped a weeks ago, and you drop a longer vid today. Allow a bloke to catch up. I hit the "Like" button, but after 8 minutes, I tune out.
I wish I could get my neighbor to navigate ! (he's a young bloke) Thanks Ralfy.
Incessantly complaining about "real life" gets more tiresome every video. Has the rest of Wisky nation similarly given up, or are some working to effect change in the producers?
Why not just build the bung on the top barrel head? Problem solved!
I'm not sure about the wood contact theory presented here. I'm sure there's some spirit that's in contact with nothing but air when the casks are lying down on the side too?
Glenfiddich 12 was my first Scotch. I rarely drink it now. Learned to appreciate so many others.
Mine too. I still love it though.
My first was The Balvenie 12 doublewood
I'm just going to point out the malt mentions are getting more and more awkward. In a bad way
Great video! But you’re right from the last video about that blue bottle! It’s annoying! (10:12) It sounded like you lived next to a saw mill at times 😂
Boy oh Boy , Uncle Ralfy knows a thing or 2 because He's seen a thing or 2. Blessings !!!
I hate and even scared of insects and that buzzing bug that was in the bothy with you was freaking me out hahaha
Thank you for the additional information I always love it.
Hello Malty Machiavellian Manipulating Marketeers!
Good vid Ralphy, educational as usual. Had me in stitches at 'fart in a storm' 😂😂😂
Aj dziadzia, dobre extras
Would be interesting to see your navigational skills used in Ben Bracken 19 yo. It's Lidl's mistery malt from Islay, 43%, chill filteren and has some coloring added. But it's very engaging and even more so by the fact that we simply don't know which distillery made it!
I thought he did review at least one of that Islay range, maybe not the 43.
@@EmsThaBreaks441 It was Queen Margot 3 yo blended Scotch, 3 years ago, it was really brilliant one.
I have bought me a bottle of Speyside Distillery Tenné Cask Strength. I know its young whisky and its cask-driven for sure. The port-aromas are fresh, but a little generalized. But I am a little puzzled, its present itself rather than a Grain whisky than a malt whisky and I don't know why.
Could you Ralfy explain why some distilleries are not so flavoursome and why? I know that you said at some point you will never review a Strathmill, but maybe, just maybe, you could show us an example. I know its all about good quality.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loch Lomond 12 may be the bang for the buck champ right now for what you get and R.L. Seale's 10 in rum. Just Sayin, Kid's !!!
Hello marvelous malt master! Here, Alejandro from Argentina. Sorry, I can't find the link to the document
Right-I-O. When I see a whisky finished in rum casks, I get nervous about the quality of that core spirit. Now I have had some good rye whiskey finished in rum casks, but that’s a whole different ballgame.
We Scottish have our own glass that we can call our own now thanks to Raymond Davidson. I see it everywhere now,and rightly so,its the perfect glass for what its needed for.
Would love to see William Grant & Sons bottle some integrity bottlings under that name. Just like "William Grant & Sons' Glenfiddich" and do interesting shit for the whisky nerds :P shouldn't really hurt their other brands
Just recently found your channel and loving it, thank you. I love the idea of a peated scotch but do not like the iodine. Any recommendations you could make of a nice peated scotch under $150 that does not have a strong iodine note would be greatly Appreciated.
Ralfy , what happened to your infinity bottle?, I noticed its empty.
@20:46 - Priceless! 🤣
Pallets and Forklifts do make sense in a warehouse, but why not use a stand mounted on a pallet that holds the barrel sideways?
Great insights. Thanks Ralfy! 😀
I have to say I found this for me to be that I have yet seen guide into the subject!
May I suggest a Kenzie glass for all you bourbon and higher proof drinkers.
I've got some serious crossword puzzles to do
Your right that was really interesting 👍🇬🇧. On a seafaring note you'll have to be a great navigator to get back and forward to the Golden Isle once they've built all the bloody windmills that are planned!
Incrementaly...🤪🤪🤪
