I just don’t understand how you’re not closer to a million subs by now. You definitely deserve it. One of my favorite car channels for sure. Keep it up bro...
Well. I drop in every now and then, I don’t subscribe. I don’t like the way he builds cars, all slammed with that weird drift camber and poke setup on the front. Also the only driving he does is drifting which I’m not into.
People in New Zealand call a non turbo Rb20e and GTE , if you motor swap it we call it a GTS plus T or just a GTST from a guy that’s owned about 15 skylines I’d call it a GTST . Only thing you need to change is that dash cluster.
@@joshhoople6090 the PCV and breather valves vent crank case pressure. I think he's saying you can hear the top end ticking from the valves, that need to be plumbed to an OCC etc
Donald is hilarious. Lacking reliability is true. Briefly drove a grey R33 gts-t my parents bought from my cousin. They got scammed by the way. Ran weird. Had a RB26 block with a RB25 head. Swapped the spark plugs and it ran great. The car would kick out and slide hard when pulling second gear. A great driving experience. Wish I could afford to buy a nice one.
When donny starts talking about the reliability of rbs ...... bro come to New Zealand on a Friday night and see how rbs are treated her and they'll still start the next day
for people saying its hydraulic lifters thats not the noise they make, its more of a ticking then a knock.. they either need to be adjusted or are warn. that knock is from the fly wheel or top end bearings.
Great work.. Some tips from RFBNZ.. Miss fires, always run iridium racing plug's, test coil packs as they break down quick from misfiring. Overheating- bleed coolant system on the steepest angle possible, or pressurize with coolant. Air always gets caught in the heater system. I recommend binning the factory manifold. And go with a quality Plazmaman(au) or Sinco(Nz) manifold. It improves the engines volumetric efficiency. You got the perfect intake for flow. But the exhaust manifold should be stainless steel if you are ocd like me. Then... what's with the tiny turbo? Insert a custom made MSE turbo from NZ... and you will have boost much sooner. Highly recommend the largest cams you can get from Kelford cams 280+(nz) And once you tune for e 85.. You can happily bang the 9k limiter every morning. We have been spoiled here in NZ. But we don't ever treat any RBs with any mechanical sympathy whatsoever... Keep up the great work. stance is on point... Hope 2021 is a great year for you all.
RB25s are only unreliable if you put too much boost through the standard Turbo or HG, which was very common back in the day - as standard they will run pretty much forever. Biggest issue with them really is exhaust manifold cracking and exhaust manifold bolts snapping, but those are usually people running them too hot to frequently after putting to much boost through the standard turbo...
I started replacing the idler stud and tensioner bolt every time I do a timing service. I've seen the bend, back out, and even break from stretching after being reused. They're so cheap, it's easy insurance.
That breaking up is because of slightly over-inflating lifters. Just takes a little time, if everything else fails just get it nice and warm and then let it sit till it's cooled down. Usually fixes it
Had a ceffy rb25det for like 2 years and had so meny random problems, put so much work n money in to it, I gave up got a 335i n56 it's been so good, much more power n reliability
Surreal watching today I’ve just seen Chris Rudnik driving around in a M2 Comp running it in. Then straight into watching Jimmy “iron out faults” by performing a running in shop burn out. 🙌🏼
"it's gonna snow tomorrow" It certainly did, I think it just stopped within the past hour. I'm gonna assume I drove by the shop a few times yesterday during the making of this vid, got a friend in the same complex that Moarfab's old spot was... wishing that anyone on that strip would have an opening sometime soon for shop space. Been trying since November maybe.
After I built my m52 and put it in it was making terrible terrible sounds and just letting it run fixed it up and its the best motor I have had so far.
I like how relatable your content is Jimmy. Just a good ol boy and his friends makin' memories. I just recently got my SR running. Having some issues with head noise / possibly bad VTC gear, but other then that really hyped to get on track again!
Jimmy, Please keep those dope orange rain guards on the doors, but buff and polish them up along with all the lights on this thing. Theyre all dope but looking a little mangy.
Run an extra ground on the igniter harness straight to the head. Misfires on an RB can be a headache. Head tick can be an issue with the timing cover where the can trigger bolts on.
Love the wheels. Keeps me motivated to build my 25det c33 When it makes funny sounds so you beat on it and smash limiter afew timea and it fixes it self🤣 rb life
Perfect timing, just sat down and packed a bowl to start my Super Bowl Sunday right. Also I aspire to have a shop like Tommy’s someday with just mad parts on hand at all times
i use those cheap blue kiddie pools. that way if it leaks anything it will be in one place and i can get sand or cat litter and then scoop and bag it up... but i am also on jack stands in the dirt and not in a shop.
Bruh im so happy that the rb is running fine! They sound way better than the jz in my opinion! I wish this engine would have been more common in Germany.
It doesn't matter how wide the base on the pulley is, if the shaft (bolt/stud) it rides on is bent, it's gonna be shifted out of alignment. The base isn't gonna magically flatten against the block when the nut holding it on and the axis it rides on is fucked off to pennsatucky.
There had to be a spacer missing behind something. I have not watch last video yet. Also when adjusting timing belt tension the proper method for nissans is using a feeler gauge between tensioner and belt. Specs are online.
Right!! Looks so clean! I gotta get my hands on one of those for a personal build. I know I'd struggle with wanting to drift it though, and respecting its pure beauty.
As for DJ and his reliability if looked after the go for a long time I have a 33gtst with 378xxxkms on it and running 16psi and 411rwhp and its daily driven and is probably my most reliable car
that shop burnout after the first start up was the most aussie things youve ever done
Wouldn’t recommend pulling one of those in your shop, too many gems to fuck up there
Slick one, yes. And well deserved.
Maybe Ty does a wheelie in yours, if you ask nicely.
Maybe he’s turning into sammit 😂
Wait is the shop skid not a requirement in the States? Sounds risky, it's the only way to guarantee your car will work when it's done
He needs that fyeah refresh for his 33
Check yesterday’s video about the washer on the crank. Please jimbo
Agreed!...when I saw the comment yesterday I was really hoping he did as well.
YES
LOL it got a toothed gear where that "washer" aka belt build used to sit so don't think that's the issue it's the new 20 year old belt for sure
I know what washer you are talking about, but why should he check his own video again? What do you mean man?
The washer is still pushing the belt forward that little bit though

But forsure ticking or knocking.
Hard to tell the pitch through video.
It's just the lifters. It happens when they are drained of oil and will slowly go away as the oil flows.
