OMG I'm addicted to these stories. Just when we think we're all crazy now, these stories show they were just as crazy then!

She must have been dealing with a malignant narcissist. I stayed with mine far too long (for the kids) The big mistake cost me my kids. Experts say kids always go with the abuser (.with bribes). I don’t blame them because by the time I left I had anxiety, I was pretty nonverbal and depressed. I’m past 35 but I can understand her losing the will to live.

It is such a tragic case and a reminder for people to listen to freinds and family in their advice about choice of partner. We are sorry to hear for you. 😔Recovery from disentanglements can be terribly painful and take a long tme to recover from. Certainly, extreme unhappiness has an impact on all those around a person and the right decision always is to leave a toxic situation or relationship. And breathe. Children sometimes dio not understand this at the moment, but they do with time. Sending light and love from the team. 🙏

Ah! so sorry if the story was not clear! It went on for years - it would be a 5 part series to cover it all - so we only took a slice of it. Lord Russel, who was orphaned at a young age and raised by the ancient grandparents, had the name and title and was OK in terms of money - not fabulously rich rich. Mabel and the all important mother - had a name but no money. It was sort of implied, but not proven, that she married Lord Russell for the money. Three months into the marraige and Lady Russell begins to screech that he is an abusive man, he is hateful, AND she resurrects a rumour that he has had illicit relations in the past with another man. To the UK's shame, this was highly illegal for a long time and imprisonable. So, she moves out, divorce proeceedings follow. She threatens that she has documents that she will make public that proves all her allegations. He does not budge. Says he will take her back (???) but she has to publicly apologise and state that her claims were false. Divorce in Victorian times was a societal death knell and considered a tremendous personal failure. Back and forth they go, it goes to court, their personal letters are read in court and relayed in the papers. The charges against him have been investigated and all are proved unfounded. She therefor has abandonned him. He can divorce her under abandonment / lack of conjugal rights. She will get very little. Oh no! Seeing this, she now decides she will go back to him, she will share a bed with him so that she has held up her side as she sees all financials slipping away from her. He has had enough and does not want her now. In the UK, with the hard to get divorce, there were limited grounds that could be used. Adultery, bigamy, abandonmnet , lack of conjugal rights. He, in the meantime has staretd an affair. They go to the states and divorce and then marry. They return to the UK. BUT, the American divorce is not recognised in the UK, so he is now a bigamist. He did this on purpose to get rid of first wife. He pays her off, divorce on the grounds of bigamy and does we think 3 months prison. After this, she tries again to get more money and publishes the documents supposedly for money from the papers. He sues her for libel and she is guilty and does 8 months. A few years later, she marries a man who is a con artist. She thinks she is marrying into europeen royalty. She is actually marrying a footman, so a servant. He has, whilst they were married, been living a life of luxury, on credit, as pseudo-royalty which is confirmed by his marraige to the former lady Russel. Whew! Busy dramatic lives!

YIKES!! Poor Catherine!! William sounded like a TOTAL reprobate!! Not only did he cheat on his wife and given his wife an STD, he tried to turn his sons into mini reprobates too!! Hopefully, the children turned out better than their VILE father!!
Lord and Lady Russell seemed to enjoy playing emotional ping- pong with each other during their divorce proceedings!! Why they got married to each other in the first place is beyond me!!🤔🤔
BRILLIANT job, Robin and Team!! ❤💞👍💕🤗👏

One of you must be a mathematician, banker, tax officer or an accountant, to give approximations of monetary values from the period into todays equivalent. Taking into account the monthly interest rate, (which rises & falls accordingly ),over the intervening years to present date, so a knowledge of the history of finance, or access of banking recorded accountancy, do tell as is an integral part of your tales, thank you, ss enjoyable as ever. Thank You
