I am a 69 year old, slightly misanthropic, curmudgeon who had been a progressive music fan since 1971. I seldom give out accolades and I am even less likely to praise covers, and even more critical when it comes to covers of my favorite band "YES". Now, with that being said, I have just finished listening to your cover of "Heart Of The Sunrise", which is my favorite "YES" song, and I am amazed. Musically your rendition is spot on. Nice contrast between intensity and serenity which is a key element of progressive music. The gal singing could easily have over sung it and ruined all this fine work but she didn't and her voice and phrasing came across as "angelic and restrained" and a great dynamic compliment to the others. Damn, if I were only 30 years younger. I am now going to look for more of your stuff. I found this by accident but will make an effort to hear the rest of your work. Nice job. Victor Laslo
Hi Victor. Speaking as younger person (I'm 62! :p ) I agree with you 100% I've been a Yes fan since 1972 and like you I'm fairly "picky" about covers of their work. "Band Geek" are exceptional when it comes to playing the Yes catalog. By the way, their "other stuff" is not shabby either :D ! ...All the best , John
This has got to be the first band that I have ever heard that covered Yes music and didn't leave me thinking "This and that and the other was missing"...
@Randy Rinker ....I came here to comment and found I already had thru you. ALL of what you have said here applies to me. I find it both encouraging and uplifting to see/hear the music of my life, as 'old' as it (and I) is/are becoming, being embraced and *mastered* by new generations. BRAVO.
I’m a pretty well spoken guy but I’m almost at a loss for words. I didn’t think was possible. My friend turned me on to you guys and I was immediately blown away. I never had the chance to see Yes live. This is the next best thing. You’ve captured all the nuances that made yes so incredible. Again I didn’t this could be done. You guys are so talented. Thank you so much for recreating these musical masterpieces.
I have been moved by this song all my life, it has all Jon Andersons balance of meaning and mystery, but to hear it so well performed with a female voice is to renew it, big praise to you guys.
For centuries, people have gone to concerts featuring the music Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. because it’s great and timeless music. So is Yes music, performed by such talented musicians.
All i wanted was for someone to yell "TELL THE MOON DOG TELL THE MARCH HARE-" at the end and I cant believe my wish came true. great video and great cover.
Victor L, you worded it beautifully. I'm a 67-year-old aspiring bass player that never could play this, but I'm still trying. This composition is pure genius, the first time that the bass player was the lead instrument,,, Chris, you paved new ground, Rest in Peace. To the band Geeks,, damn great job! You folks nailed it,, Bravo!
Just fucking spot on. Refreshing to see a drummer honor Bruford’s parts...also refreshing to see a drummer honor Wakeman’s parts😳 Really magnificent fellas.
Most basement bands struggle with basic chords and songs. You guys are playing the classical music of rock. This is awesome. This must be what it’s like if Mozart had a basement jam band
These guys are f...ing amazing - they perform with a perfect technique - but also with the right feeling, fun & finesse ... and such a cool easyness - "prog nerds"
10:24. . I listened to the whole thing to this point and SPONTANEOUSLY broke into applause!! It was THAT GOOD! Being a 70-year old fan of "Yes" since. . . . errrrrr. . .. FOREVER. . . . I can say that this is spot-on!
I am completely and totally blown away. One of, if not my favorite Yes classic. Your talent is mind boggling. My God, those bass lines! Chris would be so proud. The keyboards, the guitar, the drums and that Angel on vocals. Thank You Geeks!
I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am with your cover of that song. All the intricacies and nuances of the numerous time changes and complex arrangement were handled so incredibly well by all of you. This might be the best cover song I have heard on UA-cam ever.
i'm an old yes fan from 1972 ,,, you've done the best versions of Yes cover songs i've ever heard anyone do ,far more conviction and energy than the old men currently touring as Yes ...................................
This is a fantastic cover. At the time I'm commenting (1 3/4 years after this video's release), it has 38 downvotes. I can't say for sure what it was that made those 38 people actively dislike this, but my experience with such people is that they fall into two categories; the first is looking for the original. They hear a cover, it's not an exact replica of the original, and they very much dislike that fact. To those people, I say listen to the original. No one's going to tell you not to. The original is unique, and wonderful, and can't be replicated. Cover artists can only come close (to the edge, lol) and that means something. The other group is just jealous of talent when they see it. Pity, that.
Pure genius. It sounds blasphemous but it feels as though I'm hearing this music for the first time again, December of 1971, a little group of lost souls, overwhelmed by beauty and power. I'm in awe.
This song has so many abrupt changes it's hard to make it sound other than a splicing together of random, disparate musical ideas. This version fully convinces. You can tell it's felt and not just playing by the numbers. Even those small departures from the original (tempo, guitar part, keyboards) seem calculated to weld the thing together into a coherent, convincing whole.
To play this song you don’t just play it,you have to play it with all the emotion and all the passion as the great band called YES has done back in the day and you’s guys nailed it, and a good tribute to Chris Squire
When the tune was over, my mind was expecting the reprise of We Have Heaven, and I wasn't disappointed! Great rendition; Ann Marie's voice is wonderful.
Been listening to Yes since I was little. My older brother was a huge fan and ended up making me one, too. These songs are my childhood. Perpetual Change needs to be next.
Squires set up is so unique and you've nailed it. He had mentioned that this was by far his favorite song to perform live. Just a beautiful piece. And the percussion, wow! I thing Bruford left the band just before this tour and White stepped in at the last moment.
Love Richie + Band Geek. Many years a driving force behind BOC staying relevant + alive and kicking. Incredible covers with BG of all time classics! Keep the good times rolling!!!!
Amazing! Ann Marie You have an amazing voice! Love it! WOW!!!!! Who does Yes covers anyways? The answer is no one, because they could never pull it off. You guys completely knocked it out of the park!!! Well done!!!
Love the woman singing lead. She has a wonderful timbre. Her singing fits beautifully in this music. Just finished your Close To The Edge-video which was fantastic, and to top it off before bed now this video. Wow! Also, respect to the drummer, who utilizes a relatively basic-sized drumkit compared to Bill's to the max in this complex music. Lastly, your guitarist, crazy good tone! And your Rickebacker bassist is the icing on the cake; it's almost like hearing the late Chris Squire himself. I am truly impressed and feel fortunate to know there's good people like you carrying on the musical torch.
Oh, yeah. Oh, definitely yeah. Damn, that Mellotron patch is awesome. Once again, I am blown away by Andy G's playing. Better not let Howe hear that. He's a grumpy ol' cuss these days and he'll probably throw his ES-175 at your head. You're ALL great players. Well done from another Yes lover who even has the sheet music. Now, if you REALLY want to turn me into your eternal love slave, take a shot at "To Be Over." I'll melt like an icecream cone in the sun.
I am convinced that the folks who “dislike” the BG covers are simply jealous. Never been a real fan of Yes (just not really my taste). This tune rocks! Excellent job.
SUPERB! As a near-70 year olde geek who has loved Yes from day one, I can close my eyes and see them on the stage when I listen to this one. Just fantastic. On a side note, I had a roommate in college who was an outstanding drummer, and looked EXACTLY like Ray. Keep 'em comin' guys, and THANK YOU!
Band Geeks blow my mind with their versatility, precision, and passion. On some songs the drummer plays keys, the singer plays bass, and the bass player covers Van Halen note-for-note. From Disney, to Michael Jackson, to Yes, it’s astounding!
Hardly unsung. Even before Jon Anderson asked them to be his ‘backing band’ on tour and for an album. Multi instrumentalist keyboard player here (well, there are ALL multi instrumentalists), channels both Bruford AND White on the tour. There are many Yes cover bands and tribute acts out there (just search UA-cam), but very few are anywhere near this good.
Migawd. This is astounding! My friend sent me a link. This was my first exposure to you guys. You can imagine how hard it hit. This is the music of my youth,, cherished and respected and performed oh so well. Much respect.
So the drummer is also a wonderful keyboardist. Who knew. FFS, is there no end to the talent? Anne Marie, sublime. Ricky, channeling his inner Squire. And a drummer that is on beat, every beat. Gorgeous guitar too. Dumbstruck.
This popped up on my YT and I thought this is going to be a train wreck but I was so wrong and very happy I clicked. Almost like sitting in a recording session with Yes back in the day. It also is great to see the parts being played so clearly and with all the complexity and subtleties intact. Bravo Geeks!
Although Yes have played this live many times, when you think that Eddie Offord constructed these tracks from endless 24 track strips, retakes of each section of the piece, until he produced the perfection that is the studio album, you guys seem to have mastered the studio sound in one take, which is incredibly impressive! Bravo!
Only discovered this series of vids today. I'm dumbfounded by the quality of all the elements. The attention to detail and delicate interplay between the players is [above] outstanding. Every instrument [and voice!] sound exquisite. Almost too good to watch...
I’ve just discovered you guys (where the F have I been!) and you are, without doubt the best freakin cover band in the world bar none, end of, Period. I’m 61 years old, first saw Yes at Wembley in 1977, probably before any of you were born and I’m in a cover band myself (not a Yes cover band I should add - I wish) and we don’t reach 1% of your standard. I’ve subscribed. I’m hooked. You guys are the real deal. Thank you thank you thank you.
Recall watching this and being impressed 7 years ago Just learned today it is your band touring with Jon. Congrats and best of luck. Can't imagine what the mood was like when he contacted you
This is amazing, VERY hard to play as well as you guys just did! I'm 63 and grew up with Yes as one of my all time favorite bands. Sharp... Distance... Thank you....
I have much respect for every person in this video. What an amazing performance. One of my favorite songs. I believe I saw them twice (...it was the 70s) . Although I enjoyed every single instrument I must say the vocal was unique and angelic. Each one of you is something special. Thank you for this gift.
Guys, best wishes from Russia! This is the best cover I've ever heard in my life! I've been listening YES since I was 12, now me 45 you're the best after them
Saw YES in concert thrice tween 1971&76, always trippin' to the max... Today, on my 70th b-day -- who knew back then I'd make it to my dotage? -- I am full of breakfast canna-butter, and strolling across the internet; what do I see, but an interview with JonAnderson in which he extolls his new lp, TRUE, and his backing band, TheBandGeeks! So here I am, and glad to provide a sub&like to you.
I’ve played in many cover bands and a few of them attempted to cover Yes songs but it just didn’t come off with the right feel due to the incredible intricacies and technical complexities of those pieces. You folks are by far and away the only group that not only masterfully achieved capturing the essence and the feeling but you have also gave this piece the justice it rightly deserves. I sat silently watching this entire video and when it ended, I literally loudly exclaimed, “BRAVO!!!”
Squire was such a presence in these songs... Him with bruford were on another level. What squire did with the bass sound provided the grit which freed up howe from having to play endless bar chords with tons of distortion. It was a perfect match of styles.
Wish my best friends was still around, we grew up listening to Yes, & ELP, he was classically trained & could play all of that even though the rest of us could not yet on Bass or Guitar, he would love this. He moved to Nashville to go to Belmont College, ending up playing with Country Groups, ended up in Reba McIntyre's band, died in a plane crash in 91, those dreams of one day playing Yes music together gone. He would have a big smile on his face watching this video. Love it.
I'm routinely amazed at how effortlessly y'all play so many different instruments... and then you add your vocal capabilities. Yes is technically ridiculous and you all handle it with ease. Impressive...
I fiddle with the keyboards but that Wakeman stuff is just out there beyond me. Like somebody who takes hikes in the low hills as opposed to somebody climbing K2 in the winter. This guy does an admirable job. Some of the patches are slightly off but his dexterity is amazing. And really, when you consider some of the equipment Rick used to create this in the first place, it's hard to get those sounds digitally. Thanks for keeping this music alive.Sensational bass work as always. Ann Marie is great as always. Makes it her own.
it's so nice to see people covering this music and keeping it alive for a new generation when there is so much mediocre trash out there. you guys (and gal) are awesome! Hearing these songs sends chills up my spine and gives me goosebumps. Have the band members heard you guys? I think you do them proud!
I am 59 yrs old and have see the best band ever YES.......TO many times to count but props all of you spot on.....all I need now is a joint coming down the row......Steve Howe would be proud.
I am a 69 year old, slightly misanthropic, curmudgeon who had been a progressive music fan since 1971. I seldom give out accolades and I am even less likely to praise covers, and even more critical when it comes to covers of my favorite band "YES".

I am now going to look for more of your stuff. I found this by accident but will make an effort to hear the rest of your work. Nice job.
Victor Laslo
nice

Had a 73 4001. Triangular pearl fingerboard inlays but block binding on The bouts. “Rick-O-Sound” baby!
I’m a pretty well spoken guy but I’m almost at a loss for words. I didn’t think was possible. My friend turned me on to you guys and I was immediately blown away. The Rickenbacker bass is key to the song isn't it. RIP Squire.
can only be played properly on a Rick
The fish is swimming in warm clear waters. Christopher Russell Edward Squire.
Brian Barber amen brother! Totally agree.
Rob Keyworth the magic begins with that guttural roar at 0:40 One of my favorite things about Yes was Squires groaning, bottomless bass
Rob Keyworth sure it is. It's sound is unique
I have been moved by this song all my life, it has all Jon Andersons balance of meaning and mystery, but to hear it so well performed with a female voice is to renew it, big praise to you guys.
Yes, it’s above the glass ceiling! A new era has come!
Tears streaming, epic
Well, Anderson was practically an alto to begin with, so it's not surprising that Yes songs would be a good fit with a female vocalist.
For centuries, people have gone to concerts featuring the music Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. because it’s great and timeless music. So is Yes music, performed by such talented musicians.
Love that Rickenbacker sound. Kudos to the drummer, not easy to do a Bruford. Flawless!
Not easy to do ANY of these musicians!
Yes Ricky was DEF ON POINT in this one feck!
Not flawless but great
I have a '78 Rick and while it's naturally punchy it doesn't just "do that".
There's some interesting tweaking there.
You are right,tuff to follow.
All i wanted was for someone to yell "TELL THE MOON DOG TELL THE MARCH HARE-" at the end and I cant believe my wish came true. great video and great cover.
When Anne-Marie started singing, the goosebumps i already had....got their own little goosebumps.
She has great low notes!
You can just see from the expressions on each of their faces that this was a true labor of love.
Hi RBC...just traveling back in time to say hello... and ("Yes") I agree, they look like they're having a heavenly experience covering this classic.
Just fucking spot on. Refreshing to see a drummer honor Bruford’s parts...also refreshing to see a drummer honor Wakeman’s parts😳 Really magnificent fellas.
What do you mean by the drummer honoring Wakeman parts?
@@DWScores Their normal drummer played keys, he stuck to the recorded parts on both.
Honor, but still not recreate…
Singer starts the song standing up. Remembers long intro, sits down. Exceptional cover, top work!
Who knew Boris Johnson was such a good keyboard player?
Alex Dunphy does a pretty good Jon A on vocals too. :-)
mysterywhiteboy72 I did.
Hahahahahahaha!! . . . You are quite right!
WAY better keyboardist than politician!! ;)
+50 points.
Cannot wait to hear and see the Geeks on tour with Jon Anderson. What a dynamic combo.
Typically, I don't care for cover versions of songs, but I really like this girl's voice. The entire band does an excellent job!
Most basement bands struggle with basic chords and songs. You guys are playing the classical music of rock. This is awesome. This must be what it’s like if Mozart had a basement jam band
This is not a basement band...they're all seasoned professionals.
This is by leaps and bounds the best cover of this song I''ve ever heard. That Rick though
I am THOROUGHLY Impressed. This is NOT an easy song to play. VERY VERY VERY well done! ** claps hands **
👏👏and Anderson do, do, do...
Algorithm: You need to watch this for the 50th time.
Me: Absolutely.
I think you might be right - incredible stuff!
AGREED👌
Incredible job! Yes would be proud of that cover ! Her voice is close to Jon Andersons...amazing!
I'm speechless too, ... but just wait until you hear their rendition of Close to The Edge!!
i'm an old yes fan from 1972 ,,, you've done the best versions of Yes cover songs i've ever heard anyone do ,far more conviction and energy than the old men
currently touring as Yes ...................................
This is a fantastic cover. At the time I'm commenting (1 3/4 years after this video's release), it has 38 downvotes. I can't say for sure what it was that made those 38 people actively dislike this, but my experience with such people is that they fall into two categories; the first is looking for the original. Drummer plays keys , guitarist plays drums both play both to a very high level. WoW!
Richie with Andy G and Andy A.....and Ann Marie
Enough said!!!!
Awesome. You guys need to get out of that basement!
hahaha....believe me , they are out of the basement .hahaha
I'm sure they come out of there every now and again...
They did: ua-cam.com/video/wFQ-fa8hxpg/v-deo.html
They have at least 30k worth of gear and equipment. That's called a studio. lol
Unfortunately, EDM is king.
The whole band is awesome, but I especially love how the drummer reminds me of Bill Bruford. Plus major kudos for the beefy bass.
To play this song you don’t just play it,you have to play it with all the emotion and all the passion as the great band called YES has done back in the day and you’s guys nailed it, and a good tribute to Chris Squire
omg! This is outrageously well-done. You guys have talent beyond belief. I am utterly blown-away by this. :)!!!!
Ann Marie does a great job here......doesn't try to over sing it, angelic yet restrained....real nice.
The drummer is absolutely KILLING this tune!! Totally lovin it.
Thanks:)
The writers of this song were mad Men! mad I tell you!!
When the tune was over, my mind was expecting the reprise of We Have Heaven, and I wasn't disappointed! Great rendition; Ann Marie's voice is wonderful.

This chick has an awesome voice!
Not many bands can "do" Yes.....Well done Ritchie and the geeks - pure dead brilliant, as we say here in Scotland.
Love Richie + Band Geek. Many years a driving force behind BOC staying relevant + alive and kicking. Incredible covers with BG of all time classics! Keep the good times rolling!!!!
What an incredibly, incredibly hard song to replicate and you guys & gal were all over it!!! Bravo!
Amazing! Ann Marie You have an amazing voice! Love it! WOW!!!!!
Who does Yes covers anyways? The answer is no one, because they could never pull it off.
You guys completely knocked it out of the park!!! Well done!!!
Delicious! Love the female vocal by Ann Marie, LOVE the Rick bass!

So good

I thought it was a 225? Steve would be jealous.
Can't believe I just heard what I just heard... I've been to shows where Yes didn't play HOTS with such perfection.
The accuracy of the sound, and playing is beyond measure.... I'm certain Yes would most certainly approve of this version !!
I am convinced that the folks who “dislike” the BG covers are simply jealous. Never been a real fan of Yes (just not really my taste). This tune rocks! Excellent job.
64 year old scotsman here who is YES mad......you did good...very good.
Fantastic from a die hard Yes fan!

I listen to this every night. No wonder I can't get to sleep lol. Brilliant
I'm still listening/watching it. and still thinking of chris squire RIP
Still listening and still brilliant
still watching this.. never fails to impress me
So great !!! I see why Jon was impressed!!! And her voice is perfect for it!! Big YES fan since 1976.
This popped up on my YT and I thought this is going to be a train wreck but I was so wrong and very happy I clicked. Almost like sitting in a recording session with Yes back in the day. It also is great to see the parts being played so clearly and with all the complexity and subtleties intact. Bravo Geeks!
Really frickin' excellent folks EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 63yrs.
This made my eyes water a little and reminded me how much i love this song.

I love Richie and his band of musical misfits. This is just wonderful.
Richie, you rocked that Ric starting at 00:39...Another monster piece you guy nailed...:)
I’ve just discovered you guys (where the F have I been!) and you are, without doubt the best freakin cover band in the world bar none, end of, Period. My favorite Yes song. Richie great as ever on the bass. Really impressed by Ray on the drums.
I hope you had half as much fun playing that is I did listening to it! That song is a true classic. Thanks a great way to start my Friday.
Drummer !!!!!!!!!!!! Frickin' GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whoa! Blow my mind! Best cover of a yes song ever! Boy howdy😁😁😁😁
You should see them do Close to the Edge
Recall watching this and being impressed 7 years ago
Just learned today it is your band touring with Jon.
Congrats and best of luck. Can't imagine what the mood was like when he contacted you
This is amazing, VERY hard to play as well as you guys just did! I'm 63 and grew up with Yes as one of my all time favorite bands. Sharp... Distance... Thank you....
Man..seeing these guys play this live makes me appreciate this great song even more
Phenomenal musicianship aside, what a great job recreating those tones! I enjoy this as much as the original.
And now you have your own album out with Jon A. Holy dream come true.
I have much respect for every person in this video. What an amazing performance. One of my favorite songs. I believe I saw them twice (...it was the 70s) . Although I enjoyed every single instrument I must say the vocal was unique and angelic. Each one of you is something special. Thank you for this gift.
I cannot believe that this is even possible, but here you are...never stop doing this. It's awesome. You are all awesome. I can't even...
First album I ever bought ! Wore out the tracks on that vinyl.
Thanks for the memories.
Daniel Stenning yep me too, drove my parents crazy
I’ve played in many cover bands and a few of them attempted to cover Yes songs but it just didn’t come off with the right feel due to the incredible intricacies and technical complexities of those pieces.
You folks are by far and away the only group that not only masterfully achieved capturing the essence and the feeling but you have also gave this piece the justice it rightly deserves.
I sat silently watching this entire video and when it ended, I literally loudly exclaimed, “BRAVO!!!”
This cover brought tears to my eyes you made Chris proud and me a happy man so wonderful to hear such great covers of my all-time favorite band 💟💟💙💙💓💓
Her voice sounds so fantastic on this. The whole thing is amazing.
Squire was such a presence in these songs... Him with bruford were on another level. What squire did with the bass sound provided the grit which freed up howe from having to play endless bar chords with tons of distortion. It was a perfect match of styles.
Agree wholeheartedly! Alan White was fine, but Bruford stood out from the crowd.
Love it.
This just deserves a watch and a listen from time to time. Only folks who are uber Yes fans could perform a cover such as this so well.
I'm routinely amazed at how effortlessly y'all play so many different instruments... and then you add your vocal capabilities. Yes is technically ridiculous and you all handle it with ease. Impressive...
You all are some fantastic musicians.
Guys, just wow! For many years, I didn't know anyone listened to Yes. Growing up in Sweden without Internet and only CDs on sale.
And now, some King Crimson and Gentle Giant tunes please!
onurb59 would dearly love to hear this bunch tackle Matte Kudasai or Starless.
in the court of crimson king and 21st century schizoid man
Experience!

Superior from a guy who listens, admires YES since the beginning...keep up the good work
it's so nice to see people covering this music and keeping it alive for a new generation when there is so much mediocre trash out there. you guys (and gal) are awesome!
Hearing these songs sends chills up my spine and gives me goosebumps.
Have the band members heard you guys? I think you do them proud!
Tell the moondog, tell the March hare...lol Kudos!!
Lol. I always thought it said "tell the moon don't tell the marcher"
Haha - “tell the moon don’t tell the March Hare” for me : )
