  • Join me as I metal detect and recover artifacts from a late 1800's / early 1900's Ranch site & Stagecoach stop. I found some amazing artifacts that were witnesses to the WILD WEST!
    I hope you enjoy!

    If you can locate the old ranch & stagecoach stop privy/privies sites & excavate em before the housing development goes up, there’s a good chance of possibly finding & saving a load of antique & potentially valuable pre 1900 bottles.

      Your absolutely right! I’m always looking for the old out house locations because they are literally a treasure chest.

    That 'mystery item' looks very similar to something from when I was a kid in the 1950s. Part of a nutcracker set, we had several 'picks' like that used to pick the nutmeat out of walnut shells after cracking them with the nutcracker. They had the tooled rings at the back end of the handle and a curved pointed tool at the working end.

      Thank for the info! I was puzzled by them and not sure what to think of them. But I’m glad to know what they are now. Thanks for the help! 👍

      Yep; that R what it is; a nut meat pick; I'm very familiar with that tool 😊 The U shaped 'nails' are fence staples; used to attach barbed wire to wood fence posts... 😉 ...

    I’m glad I’m not the only one sifting through all the junk-especially the barbed wire nail. I find a shit ton of them. I’ve also found spoons and knives that look very similar. I guess you have to sift through a lot of straw to get to the wheat.

  • @captainfragger6295
    @captainfragger6295 Рік тому

    Yeah that pointy thing that is your mystery item is a pick used to get the meat out of the nut like pecans or walnuts or what have you. My parents had one in a nutcracker set and that's exactly what it looked like. That other piece of metal you had just before that looked like the outer edge of a plate.
    I have a house here in Oklahoma that used to be my grandparents. And there is a hill on the far side of their yard because we have 10 acres, that used to be where they dump their trash after they burned it and they said people had been dumping their trash there since at least the 1920s. I know there was all kinds of crap there and they didn't really want me playing in it when I was a kid. I believe there was even those old spin washing machines and other major junk. I thought about looking through some of it for the bottles there are a lot of intact types of bottles. Assuming it's not completely overgrown now I pay the taxes but I don't mess around there very much as I live in another city
