Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Great finds today, no gold coins, but maybe next time. I really liked your campfire live streams from a few weeks ago, can't wait for other ones.
We found our greatest treasure on Thanksgiving! Hubby remembered a road he wanted to explore on an old map. The road was named for a ranch. I had just put the turkey in the oven, and it needed to cook for a few hours, so we loaded into the truck and headed off on adventure. We were looking to buy a piece of property where we could plant some apple trees!. We found the ranch, down a long dirt road. Vacant and abandoned, apparently for many years. It had a beautiful pond, outbuildings, a house and outbuildings, and a magnificent apple orchard with huge old trees, loaded with apples! I tracked down the absentee owners and we spent the next two years talking the owners into selling it to us. In May, we will celebrate 25 years of owning the ranch! So I know what the burning question is…yes, the turkey was too dry. But we choked it down anyway! And the ranch? Stetson Creek Ranch, in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California! The apple orchard was planted in 1912, and those magnificent trees still produce huge amounts of heirloom apples. We open the orchard for you-pick apples every year that we have a crop, or like this year, we were evacuated for a fire. We still honor the history of the family that homesteaded the property and planted the orchard. And those trees are a still living legacy to them.
