I’ve had one for several years. I actually like the waist belt as it takes any weight off of your shoulders, especially if you bag something. The bag is a newer thing. I paid $149 when they were a lower, in height, set up. When I called Mr. Waldrop with a question, he asked how old my chair was and proceeded to sent me a modification kit to raise my chair up as he felt it was a better height. I agree. He’s old school and aims to please. Btw. His ph# is on the sticker on your seat. He’s a pleasure to talk with. Robert, the tennis balls are on mine at all times…soft ground in Missouri is all throughout. Best of luck!

The PacSeat is pretty awesome. I add a ghillie suit. One afternoon when I was deer hunting, I had a squirrel run across my shoulders, a racoon sniff my boots, and a black bear brush up against my ghillie suit. Talk about code brown! Can't wait to see your adventures on the ground. Also, the pac-out with one of these is actually quite pleasant. I've attached two deer to mine one time and packed them off hill country about 1.25 miles. The hip belt helps a ton. Some padding for the shoulder straps are a huge help, as well.

Looks great Robert, get yourself a couple of rolls of hockey tape and wrap all the tubing you can. That's a old trick I learned in western Canada. Good luck

I spent a good week with mine getting rid of Klink..klank and their brother klick..so all the buckles, all the pins and and the waist strap are history..then I wrapped the entire frame in tennis racket tape. And lastly chopped 2-1\2 inches off the back leg so as it don't need to be folded into the upright position to just lean against a tree now she' sweet!

Also try the Millennium Tree Seat. Attaches to the tree itself and is super comfortable. Weighs only 4 lbs and is like sitting in a recliner in the woods. Perfect for any type of ground hunting. I’ve had one for the last three hunting seasons and I’m about to buy a second one.

I had been thinking about taking two inches off the front legs and finally did it today. At 5’10” it fits me much better, gives me a better angle of the back, and the front bar on the seat isn’t digging into the back of my legs. It was a good move for me.

I've had mine for many years. I wish I could remember how long. I think over 15 years. Mine does not have the stand alone option. I plan to contact David and see if mine can be modified. I'll probably get another one so my wife can sit in a blind with me. I really like the versatility without the work of hanging stands. I still use stands, but 90% of the time I end up on the ground due to wind or no trees where I need to be. David Waldrop is one of the most down to earth and honest guys I've ever met.

I've been a ground hunter from the start (afraid of heights). Your new commitment to ground hunting has been a blessing to our household. My husband has tried everything to get me in a tree, but I get about 12' and just can't. I've harvested my biggest dear leaning up against a tree. My popup blind has been okay, but can't beat a good cushion and big tree. : )
Best wishes for an abundant harvest!

Love my Waldrop. A bag like the Alps Little Bear or Big Bear for example can sit on the shelf in carry mode and be held on by the waist strap buckled around the chair. You can unclip the Alps shoulder harness all together as you dont't need that. When I get to where I'm going I take the Waldrop off my back, pop the packs waist buckle and sit it next to me on the ground. It's a wonderful system. There are a host of other bags with this configuration that will work the same way.

I’ve had one for a season and a half. I have been in a tree twice in the last 1.5 seasons (I think). Killed 3 so far this season off of the ground and don’t plan to go back to being in a tree. Very light, comfortable, quiet, and as mobile as anything you’ll find. For anyone looking, it’s well worth the money.

I just got my invoice email yesterday and saw where Waldrop is in Columbus Ga just across the river from me I called and spoke to Tim to see if I could just come and pick up my chair. He said that they had just shipped it out by FedEx and that I should receive by next day which I did get it today. I am ready to hunt now but I want a ghillie suit to complete my gear. Thanks Robert

It looks like it will bang into the back of your calves on the walk in, but I've never heard someone mention it so I guess it rides fine. Due to two recent hip replacements and developing a touch of vertigo, I've been in either a blind or hunting the ground in a tree saddle. I really like using a saddle on the ground. It puts you right against the base of the tree, completely breaking up your outline. I've had bucks look right at me from 12 yards and pay no attention. You can sit or lean and move slow and smoothly around the tree as a deer comes in. The tree also helps hide your drawing the bow movement. I bought a used Guido's Web and JX3 off eBay but haven't tried them yet except in the backyard. They are so comfortable it would be easy to sit all day. Plus they allow you to sit without having your knees against the tree. Best seat in the woods. I'm surprised that I haven't heard of anyone else doing it, though I'm sure some must be. The Guido's and JX3 also serve as a pack for hauling game or gear out. The JX3 is expensive, though so are stands these days, but if you keep an eye out you can score a Guido's off eBay on occasion.

    • @robertcarte95

It does not hit your calves. It packs comfy. I actually like to pack it over my pack.
I like being able to get up and move quickly . If some hogs are working by I can go to them.

I'm sure it is a comfortable seat but one thing I like about the pacseat is no tree required. I want to be able to set up where I need to be rather than where a tree is. I hunt in some swampy places. Thanks. Several people have mentioned the tree seat so I'm sure it is comfy.

I’m a ground hunter also. I’ve looked at that seat and considered getting one. But I was concerned about how low it hung down when packing. Does it hit the back of your legs and catch on brush when walking? I’d be interested in your thoughts on that. Keep up the good videos.

I've compound bow hunted on the ground and trees but have lost interest over all the high priced bow. I bought a one legged stool 5 years ago borrowed a long bow from a friend and I'm back having more fun then I've had bow hunting in years.
