Dude what are you talking about??? Breaking has been around for 2-3 decades already. And every body knows about break dancing all the Step Up movies..
Your Bgal Broken Gun was not in the highest level nor near an average skills. So stop the bullshit she core ZERO in any criteria the included ORIGINALITY. So thanks to her nobody will take break dancing seriously nor I will not take you seriously. SO stop the BS now Break dancing will now be just a street activity back to square one where it started. So what blessing she brought?

This is why POWERMOVES ARE NECESSARY… without it anyone can just wiggle any funky way they want and call it “Originality” or “style” or “dance”…. You can’t just randomly do an air flare or halo on accident 😂😅 it takes dedication and practice and sacrificing your body to harm to perform those moves. You can’t get injured from the Kangaroo top rock

The point you made at the beginning - showing breaking of the highest level, high speed power moves - that's what was missing from Raygun. She'd mentioned in pre-olympic interviews that she didn't really have the physicality to beat the other B-girls so she'd be focussing on creativity and originality for the Olympics.
That's why it's blown up so much, because her performance has created a dissonance in the audience and judges expectations - that those that compete at the Olympics level (the highest level) should show (and have the physicality) expected from someone of that level.
Breaking is subjective since it's a form of art, when it's in the Olympics though, doesn't that also make it a form of judging physical fitness? She didn't show that in her moves in comparison to the other competitors. Audiences new to breaking wouldn't know the criteria but they could make the easy visual comparison too.

She qualified and did the work. How is this her fault

    • @Ann_Fred
      @Ann_Fred 26 днів тому

@@CoachSambo I never mentioned it was her fault, only what people were expecting. I wonder about her mental health after all the negativity and can't help but think that if she scored a point or two she wouldn't have to deal with as much harshness from the media and online. She genuinely seemed like she gave it her all, so the question is how did she reach the point where she scored 0 across the board from the Olympic judges? I question how her qualifiers were judged. Since technique and execution seems to be such a large component of physicality, fair enough, that still leaves three other criteria where she could've scored that are more subjective.
Art is subjective, hence there's also critique. So I wonder what critique she received during training, and had she shown others what she was going to do on the Olympic stage? Was she given any suggestions or ways to help her improve the narrative or her reactions to her competitor? How big is the range for scoring between what the judges are looking for from the qualifiers to the Olympics, especially since there were no points given at all for the latter? 🤷‍♀️

What you're saying is wrong though. So many of the greatest innovations of all times come from adversity. Creativity doesn't simply get limited because of negativity, and if people being negative to you is a enough to stifle your creativity then that's ON YOU. Someone who is truly creative would see this as a growth opportunity. She chose to put herself out there and she failed. Of course, excluding the uncalled for personal attacks , people making stuff up, and harassing her, that's not okay.
Nobody is making fun of her for simply "thinking outside of the box." They're making fun of her because she gave a bad laughable performance. Plenty of other bgirls thought outside the box and were praised for it. But if you do a bad job at something, we should be able to say it was bad. If you do a good job, we say good job. How you take that feedback is up to you. But, Otherwise, our words don't' really mean anything. You are effectively saying "Positivity and Neutrality only" but this is called toxic positivity. Remember, all emotional states and feelings are valid and we need them all. It's okay to express all of them in HEALTHY ways, and it is in fact GOOD for you to experience all of these emotions when you feel them.

Yup. Any talented b-girl could execute her routine and make it passable in a way she couldn't. She's no Einstein. The comparison was the low point of the video. He's right about the publicity , but NOT because she's an innovator us mere mortals can't comprehend. She's just bad. That's it.

She lacks the proper movement in all areas. her speed does NOT match the sequence of movements she's trying to execute, when she stops/pauses, her body is ALWAYS unstable, and the mix of it all is just wrong to the point of being funny to 99% of people. She has absolutely NO control of her body above an average untrained person's level. She went to the olympics, NO ONE going to compete at the olympics should have been at such a low level. "She JUST wasn´t at their level" is the most unreal coping excuse you could've come up with. Don't try to minimize the issue as if she was a 9 next to 10s when her note was a CLEAR ZERO. All the criticism is very well deserved. If you can't understand or see it because you lack the basic knowledge to do so doesn't change reality. *ILLOGICAL*
Argument #1: She’s creative and thinking outside the box
*False Dilemma Fallacy* you can be both creative and not stink in dancing. So you’re saying the other BGirls out there the Gold Medalist Ami wasn’t thinking outside the box? You don’t have to stink to be “creative”.
Argument #2: Her controversy is helping popularize breaking
*Red Herring Fallacy* this helping popularize breaking doesn’t change the fact that she is awful and doesn’t justify you supporting her disrespect of the Olympic Competition which athletes worked their entire lives to upheld. Now, “Olympian” isn’t a big deal anymore because of her.
    Argument #3: You’re a BBoy Pro
*Appeal to Authority Fallacy* what’s illogical is illogical, it doesn’t change even if you’re an expert in the topic. Einstein can’t say 1+1=4. Credential is only valid if the topic needs deep understanding but everyone knows what a lousy dance looks like. You go into a concert and the girl group dance badly, you don’t have to be a dancer to recognize that and the girl group can’t say you’re not a dancer.
    Argument #4: You’re not a BBoy
*Appeal to Authority Fallacy again* with that logic people can’t criticize Donald Trump or Joe Biden, “The only valid action you can take is to run for President yourself.”
    ARGUMENTS REFUTED AND DESTROYED
Maybe go study Logic 101, because you did too much BBoying, you don’t know how to be logical.

If I don't agree with an opinion you call subjective, I have only one action to take... which I can't take because I'm a dude. We are allowed to react however we want. The chastising goes against the rest of your message, which is actually a great message. And a lot of people are confused about what subjective means. Subjective doesn't mean less concrete or definitive than objective. It simply means the experience of something, which there are many objective facts about all parts of subjectivity. The objective is simply outside of consciousness and we are inferring the objective through communication or measurement.

The Local governmental body can even disconnect this Union from the Olympic committee and send the athletes without couching. There were countries that have qualified but have no connection with the committee. To qualify an athlete, you need to set up a registration system, where each dancer must pay their submission to the federation. This does not include those who answer emails, organize meetings to educate the community, and get sponsors. Each country had to repeat the zoom calls Storm made to explain the judging system. In China they had a reality show where the powerheads were differentiated by not doing well in battles to the general public. Something that Australia urgently needs if it wants to improve its scene.

@@jessicamaro4254The breaking community sticks together, no one will say a bad word about another!
You could ask Holy Molly, her opponent in the final for the qualification, but she won't say anything negative about it, just on principle.
For me it looks like this:
(Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong)
The Olympics have commissioned a ballroom dance organization to set up the qualification for breaking.
But they don’t have the necessary contacts, so they outsourced it to associations in the respective countries.
And it looks like Raygun and her husband are in exactly that position, in a managerial position.
They, in turn, did not make a big deal about it.
      No big tender or anything.
That's why dancers in other parts of the country didn't hear about it, and almost no one showed up.
The qualification was only available in one city, and for many Australians that would have been out of reach.
So they held the qualification in a small group, more or less among their own friend group.
Even then, others would have been better and more athletic, but in this context, where everyone knew them, it is quite clear that Raygun and her husband had an influence.
The two have been in the scene longer than some of their opponents are old, and they still know each other.
It was clear that this would influence the result.
It also seems to be common practice in the breaking scene not to criticize others, but to always affirm them. This apparently led to Raygun overestimating her own skills, because she won battles, of course she thought she was good. You can see where this can lead if you always affirm others instead of saying your true opinion. But the breaking scene really took the cake here! Not only did she win battles for over 10 years, not even when she was preparing for the Olympics did anyone have the balls to tell her that she wasn't as good as she thought, and certainly didn't belong in the elite!?
If someone had brought her back down to earth, not only could this waste of taxpayers' money have been stopped, but Raygun would have been spared this embarrassment! But that's just how it is. The breaking community was too nice to tell her the truth, and so they threw this woman to the wolves of the world.

@@CoachSambo I implied that you have hidden my comments. A slick way to hide comments that you don't want others to read or view. Like I said, I sign in my comments are visible to me. I sign out and my comment is no longer visible to me which infers that my comment is not being seen by anyone else who visits your channel. All the best.

@@IceManLikeGervin - I can't speak for two days ago when you commented, but I can see your comments now, obviously. Of course it's possible that Sambo unhid your comments since then, but here's the thing... Since this video went up, most of the comments have been disagreeing and/or saying that he's full of shit, and he hasn't hidden those, so one has to wonder why he would single you out.
Also, "suggests" or "implies" is the word in that context, not "infers". Hope that helps. =]

I agree with what was said but the thing is they should have been checked as well. Raygun’s husband was a judge when she won the Oceanic Qualifier and ended up being the coach. Apparently a lot of breakers in Australia didn’t even know about the qualifier but don’t know how true that is. Regardless I know she was doing her thing and we shouldn’t bash her but sometimes you have to call them out on their stuff especially if it’s wack. Obviously, it could be done in a professional manger but, unfortunately this day and age it’s hard to not get canceled speaking the truth. I mean there is no shame in telling someone that their approach in something should be looked over. Constructive criticism wouldn’t hurt here and there. I would want someone to tell me my stuff is wack but also guide me in the right direction. I just feel that Rayguns execution could have been better. The concept was there just needed a little more flow and maybe some power and stronger freezes

Her husband was not a judge when she won the Oceanic Qualifier. Google "wdsf oceania breaking championships judges", do you see Samuel Free? of course not.

this is false, her husband was not a judge or any type of official for the event, its misinformation being spread by people trying to frame raygun as a scam artist out to destroy breaking. yes hes her coach but he wasnt on the panel, in fact there wasn't even a single australian on the judging panel, and even then its not like there was 1 judge, there were 10, 9 judges and 1 head judge. the event wasn't known to everyone but thats more so because the breaking scene in aus is crazy small compare to other countries and you have to be actively following one of the groups either organising or promoting the event to have even known about it. And i agree, constructive criticism is necessary especially for Raygun if she wants to grow and get better, however the death threats being sent to her and her family, the mockery of her name being thrown across all media both professional and personal and the widespread harassment that ranges from people saying she is ret*rded to other breakers from within the scene saying she is bringing hip hop a bad name is not constructive criticism. im not directing this at you just trying to spread more info about the situation as a whole and your comment stood out because you are being respectful and have a genuine opinion not just "ive been watching the olympics for 20 years and my kid can do better so she fucking sucks argh!"

@@BboyCherryT0504 Thanks for the clarification and your comment. I should have said that there was a possibility that her husband was judge because that’s what the rumor was about. Because that’s how I saw it even though I said her husband was in the panel. I knew I should have waited before I talked about that because the truth eventually comes out which it did and I apologize that I spread misinformation I’ll do better next time!
But yeah I agree that her getting death threats and all that is too much. All there is to do is be better next time in all areas if Breaking gets to be apart of the Olympics.
I mean I know for a fact that a lot of people are getting into breaking now because of the Olympics and Raygun had something to do with that. It’s okay to be wack just get better is all I got to say now
