Dino, where have you been all my life? You’ve combined my two most enduring loves: travel and horticulture. ❤️ (Not counting my husband and my son, of course). 😳
Dino is a natural at making quality content. His succinct and clear instructions made this a comprehensive and easy to follow video. I’m looking forward to his post on his Ministry of Botany channel.
Excellent video! I've saved it to my favourites for reference. One question, how did you know which pseudobulb was the oldest, and which was newest? Size? I have a Sharry Baby oncidium and there are so many pseudobulbs that I can't tell...it may be a silly question or obvious but my plant has me stumped :) Thank you
Barb Murphy the largest bulb is usually the oldest. And the smallest being the oldest. Also, the newer bulbs usually have leaves that grow from the base of the bulb and go along the sides of the bulb. The leaves on the sides or older bulbs will have gone yellow and fell off in most cases. This is based on growth state of such bulb. The bulb that blooms, is usually the newest mature bulb. Look at the bulbs on the oncidium in this vid. The newer bulb looks different to the others. Good luck! Wish I could see your plant to help more. Happy growing. ( if you still can’t figure it out, wait until you see a new bulb forming.)
Barb Murphy another quick note: if you have many bulbs, you may have an old plant, or two plants together. In which case, you may have many new bulbs and many new growths.
Hi Barb. I agree with what Kaitlyn says here. However, the newest bulb should be the largest if a plant is grown successfully. If it is grown badly then the newest will be smaller. But I think Kaitlyn has made a typo in the first line of her reply to you below as she seems to know what she is talking about.
dear rachel many thanks for your reply , i know how hard vandas are to grow as i am on my 6th one and although it has very small green tips on the shoots i do not hold out much hope , as for the rhynochostylis type they are doing realy well in a controlled temp and humidity tent , give one a try , all the best david
I have better grow orchid bark but the wood is very chunky. I wish it was not that chunky. I have tiny cutting of oncidium and I am having hard time to keep it without moving in this bark

😊
Very nice...thnx for sharing..
I purchased two rescue oncidium yesterday and one has black spots.on the leaves. is this a problem? What should I do ? Love your videos. Thank you
Just watch the spots on the leaves. If they increase you have a problem but if not you should be okay.
@dino What do you think of orchid culture in water that has become pretty popular lately?
I'm afraid Dino won't see your comment!
Really enjoyed this video
Thank you for sharing

Gardening at Douentza yes! I should have included that sickly plants, or plants that suffer a stress produce smaller growths. Good add on!
Barb Murphy a good video to help you is on this channel. It’s amateur care versus experience care. Will help!
rachel i have 4 rhynchostylis gigantea spots, have you any of these orchids and if so ca you give me some advice
I do not have one and don't do great with vanda-types, I'm afraid.

It is a new channel. Hopefully later today there will be.
Does Dino have any content on his channel?
Not yet. Coming later today, hopefully!

Smaller bark is ideal for seedlings and small plants. It can be hard to source :/
Hey, you are quite glamorous, false description, I want my money back!
Strange Dinos channel has 22 subs so far but no content!
Haha. Dino's channel is brand new. Content is coming very soon.
Your light is really bad !
