Much better than the previous race tier list, still over and under valuing some races and features in my opinion. My personal race tier list is as follows: God-tier: Lightfoot Halfling S-tier: Strongheart Halfling, Deep Gnome and Duergar A-tier: Wood Elf, Wood Half-elf, Rock Gnome* and Forest Gnome* B-tier: Half-High elf, Half-drow and Githyanki C-tier: Half-Orc**, Human, High Elf, Drow and Shield dwarf D-tier: Gold Dwarf and all the Tieflings E-tier: Dragonborn Trash-tier: Green dragonborn * Gnome Cunning alone is so good that it lands these lads here, however if your planning to go Gnome then you really should go Deep Gnome. ** Savage attacks is hugely overrated, it only effect melee weapon crits so, for most classes it's pretty useless. It's at it's best on a paladin as for some reason, when you smite it effects both the weapon damage and smite damage, therefore have Gale or someone pop a hold person on a guy you don't like and then go enjoy your guaranteed giant crit.
Gith also get the hidden buff of being pretty relevant in the plot and easy to insert as a non dark urge character. A good gith that free orpheus and romances lazael makes for a pretty solid character arc and storyline with decent motivations. Humans are special to a clepto like me because of extra carry weight 😂
Love the content. Do wish you'd edit the video a bit more. You can easily edit out some of these stutters you have throughout the video. I see some other UA-camrs just go back a line and start over. If you do this the video comes out much cleaner.
I did my honor mode as Duergar Throwbarb. And oh boy was it good. Short legs dont matter much when you can just keep throwing stuff at enemies. And that invisibility made some very VERY easy sneaking sections, as a Barbarian. Duergars also have plenty of dialogue options.
I love zariel's tiefling, its too underrated, infernal resistance is too useful because of the fire damage being so common and taumaturgy just makes it impossible to fail intimidation checks, unless you are dealing with some serious shit like a 20 check
@@JasonDunna in my opinion tieflings and elfs are the best for the tav experience and are very suitable for the game But gnomes having advantage in saving throws are just too good, its a shame that I'm so superficial😂
I tried playing as a half-orc but I hated the running animation so much I didn’t even make it off the nautiloid ship. My favorite race I’ve played so far was duergar (gloomstalker)
A tier for the drows is probably fair, free darkness is however insanely strong, particularly in honor mode. Some enemies are completely countered by darkness, which can obviously always be cast by someone else with a scroll or by leveling up one of the classes that learn it, but it can really be completely fight breaking. A single cast of darkness for example changes the fight against Ansur from possibly very difficult to one where he literally is unable to do anything, well he can charge up and do his scripted AOE thing, but that is not particularly scary. It shuts down all his damage and you can just set up camp with your martial characters and wail on him.
I was thinking S tier for them but they’re between S and A tier, the darkness is awesome. They also get a lot of unique dialogue so they’re fun to play as
Shield Dwarf on my sorcerer is amazing. I can have medium armor if I want. Also, they get the benefit of being the hairiest everywhere and I love that. All the cut scenes with him running around wearing only Astarion’s dyed underwear and his fuzzy muscular self is too good. Come act 3 I’ll switch it out when I can go shopping. I have a tactician solo Duergar shadow monk and lighted his skin a little bit revealing they are plenty hairy too and warhammer is now a dex based monk weapon giving dex ability drain once per round due to illithid powers. Dwarves are short, but too big to fit through small holes, so you loose that. I think they are higher than you put them. Picking a dwarven paladin or fighter? Well maybe only for the aesthetics, or Duergar invisibility. Gnomes get gloves that give +2 dex to gnomes, but +1 to halflings and dwarves. My first gnome bard easily had 24 dex by the end. That seems pretty powerful on its own, considering 20 is the max for ability improvement and some other items.
Benefit of being the hairiest was so funny to read hahahaha. Great point on the gnome gloves that’s really useful. I probably should’ve moved dwarves higher but the Duergar is just too good
1 thing about elves is they get perception and some weapon protifiencies (most notably the longbow) that half elves don't. so they are better than half elves for fighter/paladin, and for the bard its a hard choice since you want both longbow and shield proficiency
Can you pls do a ranking of races for a Dark Urge play through?? I dont do many plays and wanna get the most outta my first dark urge! 😇 thx for the tips!
Dragonborn Draconic Sorcerors look awesome! I had a Black dragonborn as a Red Draconic Sorceror who looked perfect for an evil run, and a White Dragonborn with Gold Draconic Sorcerer who would fit in perfectly as a regal noble Paladin multiclass... Sadly, they are one of the weakest combos to use. The breath goes obsolete ao early in the storyline because it never scales (pun intended) with level. The only true benefit is the elemental resistance which you can get most of time being a ranger or just drinking a resistance potion. Acid resistance is the only tricky resistance it solves. Otherwise its a gimmick race until Larian adds something to it.
Hahaha the scales pun was genius but I agree. Such a cool looking race but it just doesn’t have many features to make it worthwhile. Dragon breath isn’t even thaaat good
Here i am planning to go default durge for honor mode and play a dragonborn. Oh well. When i win, the glory shall be all the sweater. Time to seek adversity.
@@JasonDunna lol I once made a female wood elf who looked a lot like an ex. Took me a while to realize it, must have done it subconsciously. I was all the way into late act 2, and quickly deleted it! lol
The gnomes only really get the gloves that increase dexterity by 2. The advantage on saving throws is nice but not enough to balance the reduced movement speed
High elves a B, depends on preferences i guess. My lore college bards are always high elves and they talk enemies into committing suicide best :D Drow played half a year ago and was disappointed. In act 1, arrived at goblin camp, everyone is scared by just hearing a drow is coming. Act 2 i could swear, the Harpers looked at my drow a while longer before letting her pass. Act 3 and no one cares. Maybe it’s indeed better as a dark urge m because you get more special dialogues in act 3 so it may not feel so empty

A-tier: Wood Elf, Wood Half-elf, Rock Gnome* and Forest Gnome*
B-tier: Half-High elf, Half-drow and Githyanki
C-tier: Half-Orc**, Human, High Elf, Drow and Shield dwarf
D-tier: Gold Dwarf and all the Tieflings
E-tier: Dragonborn
Trash-tier: Green dragonborn
* Gnome Cunning alone is so good that it lands these lads here, however if your planning to go Gnome then you really should go Deep Gnome.
Yeah Gith are tied to the plot heavily so they make for a good choice!
Yeah I’m glad I played my first playthrough as a human
Looking forward to your Patch 7 coverage, once it drops this week (it's already Monday here).
I’m going to put up a video tomorrow talking about it in anticipation, really looking forward to it!
Love the content. Do wish you'd edit the video a bit more. You can easily edit out some of these stutters you have throughout the video. I see some other UA-camrs just go back a line and start over. If you do this the video comes out much cleaner.
Thank you for the feedback
I did my honor mode as Duergar Throwbarb. And oh boy was it good. Short legs dont matter much when you can just keep throwing stuff at enemies. And that invisibility made some very VERY easy sneaking sections, as a Barbarian. Duergars also have plenty of dialogue options.
I love zariel's tiefling, its too underrated, infernal resistance is too useful because of the fire damage being so common and taumaturgy just makes it impossible to fail intimidation checks, unless you are dealing with some serious shit like a 20 check
Yeah that’s true! Zariel’s tieflings are the best I think
@@JasonDunna in my opinion tieflings and elfs are the best for the tav experience and are very suitable for the game
But gnomes having advantage in saving throws are just too good, its a shame that I'm so superficial😂
I tried playing as a half-orc but I hated the running animation so much I didn’t even make it off the nautiloid ship. My favorite race I’ve played so far was duergar (gloomstalker)
Hahahaha yeah im not a fan of the orc animations either. I mostly stick to elves but duergar is a fun one
I probably should’ve moved dwarves higher but the Duergar is just too good
Elves be it high or wood are in S tier for me because of the perception proficiency , same goes for drow
Yeah perception is solid to get! I think the shield proficiency from half elves is really good too though, especially on a caster
@@JasonDunna I just use the bracers of defence on elf casters which is better than nothing i guess
That’s fair, takes up a glove slot but you can go dual wielder with two stat sticks
Hello~ thanks for you make this video, so Gith is also top one race in the hardcore or honour mode?
Don’t forget wood elves also gain stealth proficiency 👍
That is true!
The best race is Canadian. They are 1/4 woodelf. And have great smiles. They are proficient in Persuation and great abs.
Yeah I think you’re right on that one!!
Having the ability to secrete maple syrup at will is a pretty awesome race perk too.
@@idrisnobody little known fact: I’m able to stay lean because my body converts calories into maple syrup and expels it
@@idrisnobodyLMFAO
1 thing about elves is they get perception and some weapon protifiencies (most notably the longbow) that half elves don't. so they are better than half elves for fighter/paladin, and for the bard its a hard choice since you want both longbow and shield proficiency
Yeah it’s a tricky choice, shield proficiency is usually very worthwhile on casters and even bards, but the perception proficiency is nice too
It is worth noting that Wood elevs Also get proficiancy in stealth inherantly which can be really useful even for nonestealthy classes
Yeah very true! Stealth is one of the most useful skills in the game
Can you pls do a ranking of races for a Dark Urge play through?? I dont do many plays and wanna get the most outta my first dark urge! 😇 thx for the tips!
That’s a solid idea, I’ll do something like that sometime soon!
Dragon breath isn’t even thaaat good
A tier list title that, without context, would not go over very well.
Context is important!! This is ranking the features / tooltips and dialogue availability that each gets, nothing else!!
Here i am planning to go default durge for honor mode and play a dragonborn. Oh well. When i win, the glory shall be all the sweater. Time to seek adversity.
Yea exactly, not saying it’s terrible to play as, but you’ll have more benefit from others. Can still be a lot of fun obviously!
Now a tier list for who’s hot versus who’s not! I jest of course.
I did a smash or pass

@@JasonDunna lol I once made a female wood elf who looked a lot like an ex. Took me a while to realize it, must have done it subconsciously. I was all the way into late act 2, and quickly deleted it! lol
@@tonymartos2922 Well that must just be your preference, youll find someone else!
@@JasonDunna haha yeah I typically go Drow, Gnome, Duergar and Gith now lol
I think the gold dwarf paladin is a solid choice with huge health bonuses. A tier for me.
Deep gnome doesn’t have speak with animals 😂😂
Forest gnome *** I might’ve butchered that bouncing between sub races
Would be kinda useful tho deep gnomes need some more features
The gnomes only really get the gloves that increase dexterity by 2. The advantage on saving throws is nice but not enough to balance the reduced movement speed
High elves a B, depends on preferences i guess. My lore college bards are always high elves and they talk enemies into committing suicide best :D
Drow played half a year ago and was disappointed.
OOOo i nice re-do!! All Elves win the aesthetic tier list. GNOMES! I love gnomes but i hate playing them so I always make my dream visitor one.
Dragonborn still low tiers 😭
Elves are my favorite personally! Half wood/high or drow elf being the top of the list for shield proficiency!
Yeah I messed up with halflings I had to give them their flowers
@@JasonDunna halflings are cool, but they're so short the movement speed just sets me off 🥺
@@MulderHiggins as a wood elf enjoyer I have a hard time having less than 9m movement speed. I like my drow half elf too because darkness 😎
@@JasonDunna That drow dark urge has been through so many class changes she probably is having an identity crisis
Dragonborn is my favs! BUT Vanilla/ PlayerHandBook 2014 Dragonborn is utter garbago, the BG3 version slightly better. BUT theres a solution! THESE mods from NEXUS, truly bring justice to Dragonborns. An absolute must. HOPE the awesome modeers behind these transfer them to the future built in Larian mod tools for PC and console!
Im at the moment enjoy being a Topaz dragonborn Sorcerer with Amethyst dragon ancestry Draconic Bloodline.
There are a few missings, NO purple Draconic Bloodline markings, use Red 3, its the closest
Also Topaz for me are ORANGE, not yellow as set ( yes Im aware topaz as a gemstone come in other colors than orange, but its mostly that )

I'm really liking the racist Jay arc. Anyway time to see duergar, gith and wood elf/half elf in S. Hoping to see some deep gnome love too
@@e-duh3529 heyyy!!! I’m basing these off the features they bring! And I think you’ll like my rankings
With get the most unique dialog by a mile
Gith and Drow both get a ton!
@@JasonDunna yea with is first then lolth sworn drow, then deep gnome and seladrine drow
Githyanki are not the only race that can get medium armor proficiency. Shield dwarves have it as well
Yeah I forgot about that when I said it hahaha but being real, not many play as Shield dwarf
@@JasonDunna Or githyanki. Let’s be real, the extra proficiencies was the least they could do for them. 🤣
I think the dragonborns should be rated as their subclasses too bro, for example:
Red Dragonborn = C tier due to their good fire resistance
Acid Dragonborn = D tier cause you’ll rarely need Acid resistance
I suppose so, but even just getting fire resistance isn’t as good as some of the others in C tier 😅 maybe Patch 7 they will give some more benefits to them!! They haven’t revealed all the updates yet
Unlikely to roll two 1's in a row? I had Astarion picklock a chest and got FOUR 1's in a row, and due to she sheer amount of bonuses he had it was the only number he could fail with.
I rolled many 1's that day, not a great time
Hahahaha that sounds awful. I had 3 in a row before but 4 is statistically much less likely. The halflings luck does make it muuuch less likely
Also it may he bugged but the high elf free cantrip had been scaling off of your primary casting stat...itll say Intel but the math shows your casting stat
I always find it misses hahaha
githyanki easily the best because they lay eggs
@@jhealey48 BAHAHAHAHA great point. That’s why they’re S tier

I'm actually confused because I'm a drow and she is proficient in light and medium armor, but at 08:30 he says that's only a githyanki's thing? Anyone else experience that?
Classes add armor proficiency too, what class are you playing?
@JasonDunna ohh ok, Cleric 😇

Gith is at the bottom of that easily lol
6:30 "Humans... if you wanna play as yourself, this is the best choice."
Clearly being extra-terrestrianfobic and not inclusive.
Hahahaha you’re right I should’ve been more inclusive of the tieflings and half-orcs out there
Not being able to be put to sleep by spells is pretty good. Also its pretty funny if you try to fall for Gut's trap. She gets po'd at you, but seriously she thought that was going to work against elves.
Hahahaha yeah I fell for the trap as a human oof
Selarine Drow can choose any deity as a Cleric except for Lolth. Superior darkvision is pretty good.
