I’m an owner operator of a small construction company just like yours. I work 60/70 hours a week and guess what I do in my free time? Watch you guys build the same things I do all day lol. Love the channel.... greetings from Williamsport Pennsylvania!
I have a friend I hire to help with work like that. He is from Mexico and he can do the work of two men twice as fast. Work his weight in gold. This country complains about immigrants too much but I often find so many hard working guys from Mexico willing to go above and beyond to learn, earn a dollar and improve their life. They are inspiring and help keep me from being too lazy working next to them.
So glad I found this channel! I hate watching commercial TV so to get to see a series like this is fantastic. One observation for an old guy who occasionally had Jason's job. He is great! It doesn't look like he is really good by just seeing him do various tasks but he is really "the Man." The way he uses his body and keeps the job going with mud mix and keeping it on the mud board to his block prep and placement shows he really knows his job. Way to go Jason!
I really appreciate the friendly not competitive atmospere! This is a team I could work for free with, having fun out in the nature creating beautiful buildings.
Love that you guys do all phases of Construction. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota Subs and not many companies do it your way. I miss those days. Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your videos.
You guys do realize you are the ONLY builders that actually show and teach how things are built without trying to “profit” off people who want stuff built😃
Tony is the GOAT👊🏻! The Man, the Myth, the Legend! I’m pretty sure I heard Jamie’s joke come out of Ray’s mouth, “PAT”ent that🤣😂🤣. Great job to all, team work between you all is awesome,

Hello! I just found your channel and WOW, I see my Dad, my older brother and me - long time ago! We did everything! My Dad was a builder when we were growing up. He gave us a “spec house” to build, from start to finish. That was invaluable. My Dad is already passed away but my brother and our boys are still building. I love you watch the videos. Keep up the good work. Have faith and you will succeed. From Charleston South Carolina, sincerely, Philip Floyd

Hey brother Last time ray was spray marking where the vertical rebars are. ..it was a great tip And loved the tip with the blocks leveling. .it's make it way more easy to level it. I've seen a couple of videos from you with block laying tips and this one is a new one. Thanks Noam from Israel
I like the way you’ve done the last few videos. Especially, if this makes it easier to keep this content up. This platform and format could be a great tool for aspiring tradesmen and home builders. Love what you’re doing.
I am sympathetic with you back pain ..I was just sitting here giving up on a basement for a build as I would need a hardy crew and they would need hardy coins. I may have to go with a shed but educating myself on your video is very helpful.
Love that yall do the block portion of the job I will say being a mason for 17 years that you are laying the bond beam upside down the rebar should be laying in the slot after you lay it putting it in the middle of the core. Not on the bottom. Not sure if yall knew that. Great job none the less.
I mentioned that to them long time ago. Stone Mason (and all other Masonry trades) 40+ years in GEORGIA and you are correct‼️ Eric mentioned why they do it that way in older video. I don’t recall his explanation‼️ 🏴Sla’inte Mhath’🏴
Came here to say that. I don't see the usefulness of laying the rebar on top of the course below. Pretty much negates the whole use of a bond beam, does it not? The horizontal reinforcement is now in plane with the grout line.
I appreciate how you’re educating your audience at every step within the process. It’s refreshing to see you guys seeming to have so much fun while at work, without compromising the quality and safety. Btw, returning the Torpedo back to the box ever so gently, was classic! 🤣😄🤣😂🤣 ✊🏾
Friend of mine went to the Dr and said "Its strange, sometimes my shoulder hurts, other days maybe the knee" and so on. The doctor lean back in the seat, looked at my friend real serious and said "If you are over 40 and it does not hurt some where....your dead" 😁 since then it has been a saying in my town. So welcome to the 40s Perkins. 😁
I'm a female and suddenly have realised that i have the love of a contraction work. You guys make it look so easy to do lol. (New subscriber) Love u guys from South Africa. Keep up the good work
What you guys call a mud board in the UK we call it a mortar board, your two trowel sizes the block and brick are completly different. We have the brick one which are your block ones and pointers which are your brick ones, then we have gaggers which got your perp and bed joints nice and curved
Heard granddadsay, "Strong back and weak mind". And " corn is in rows, brick and block are like fine meals served in courses." Millions of times. Love that you are calling them courses.
I just realized my wife’s uncle lives really close to this (Franklin)! I went white water rafting in nantahala….small world, was wet as hell everyday can’t believe you’ve got dry dirt…nice build
A back belt that can be purchased at any pharmacy will prevent any and all lower back pain as you install the lower courses. I’d recommend it for all of you guys. they make a world of difference. and while I’m at it, this mom suggests some gloves while doing this sort of work.😉😉😉
Hey Eric, sharing a "pro tip". Tie a 6-8 string onto that level w/ a 8" wide piece of scrape 1x 1 on the other end. Hell even a used chop stick. This will always catch it as a "t" brace, before falling to the deep pit of doom of that insane wall. !! Think of it like an anchor. Some of that used mason line and a chop stick work great!
Very hard work 😓 guys, you should use those lower back support belts, they really make a difference, and I can tell that by experience cause i have done some hard work myself. Great video guys. Thank you for sharing and can’t wait for the next one.
can add more planks on the scaffold set mud board on the planks not on the wall than mud the blocks all the way down than set set set. Sometimes I turn the knock out course facing up seems easier to me that way. The hardest part for me is to keep the mud board wet in the summer heat. Can set 700 blocks a day straight run cut joints and clean.
I'm glad they can enjoy their job that much,I worked in masonry in Florida for many years and some of that was brutal blazing hot or frozen solid, block frozen to the ground etc. Ahhh good times!
I’m about a day away from crossing into Maine from New Hampshire on the Appalachian Trail. I hiked through that area back in February when I started. The trail actually goes straight through the NOC. The crosswalk and bridge by the General Store is the trail.
W. Rose-Professional Masons Trowel of Record‼️ #14 for block and stone for me. I always Love these block videos‼️ Remember, I have over 5k+ blocks when YALL need them‼️ Good system: One man mudding bed joints-another buttering ears- and THE MASON picking them up and laying to the line‼️ 1000/day makes the BANK HAPPY and Your BACK SAD‼️ GREAT WORK‼️ 🏴Sla’inte🏴
Thank you Arlow ( i bet that's bad spelling ) , always good to have at least professional on the job site that knows what there doing.. I would take tips & tricks for you any time.
Two pieces of pipe with an ID big enough for your rebar works well for bending. Slide the pipes on at either side of your mark. Step on one of the pipes and pull up on the other.
Eric, to keep your torpedo level from falling in the block walls, use an old Army trick to keep important gear like a compass from being lost, and tie a string line from the level to your belt. If you drop it, you can just pull it back.
I’m an owner operator of a small construction company just like yours. I work 60/70 hours a week and guess what I do in my free time? Watch you guys build the same things I do all day lol. Love the channel.... greetings from Williamsport Pennsylvania!
About to build a basement. Significant difference in your opinion in concrete block or poured walls? I’ll be in the middle Tn area
You should start your own channel
Wow. That’s showing mad respect and admiration!

The toughest job laying block, is being the mud man. Keep it up Jason.
I really appreciate the friendly not competitive atmospere! This is a team I could work for free with, having fun out in the nature creating beautiful buildings.
Don't say that too loud they may take you up on it!
this is gonna be a great summer for this channel and the RAYJAY channel tooo
11:15, getting a lesson on "buttering". 11:30, LMAO. You guys have too much fun.
Love that you guys do all phases of Construction. I live in Minneapolis Minnesota Subs and not many companies do it your way. I miss those days. Keep up the great work. I always look forward to your videos.
Ahhhh soothing peace, hearing "NOC" coming for a few months.... was missing that previous "sky resort"
You guys do realize you are the ONLY builders that actually show and teach how things are built without trying to “profit” off people who want stuff built😃
Profit is how businesses operate. Just because everyone wants everything for free, doesn't mean you'll get it that way!
So much info in one video, I like this every 3-4 days format. Little longer videos too!
Great to see you enjoy yourself.

Glad to see this area is thriving. My wife and I used to raft on the Nantahala and Chattooga back in the 80's. Fun times.
Jeez, I hope Tony gets a bonus for having the nastiest job and working alone.
The banter between yinz is awesome
Ha....must be from PA!
U guys are "Jack's of All Trades".... great fun and info
Great skill,, can be imitated, hopefully smooth and successful always, greetings from the Aceh builder,, yuk
Loving the length and pace of these “episodes” vs. the day to day posts. Keep em coming!
Be there done that. Respect Tony!!
I can't believe the amazing unspoilt locations that you can build in the states.
The US has TONS and TONS of land... but everyone wants to live near the cities thus you have these remote "vacation" homes.
Here we are again another delightful build. I am here following along on this amazing project.

At 12:58 you lap the rebar two feet minimum we go is at forty times the diameter of rebar being used great information to know guys
Hats off to you Tony

Great work, great ppl, great series.
Arlo is the guy every builder wishes they could work under, for even one job, to pick up every technique he drops from his sleeve.
Hey Perkins, you are using the lintel blocks up side down!!! The knock out centers are for the rebar to rest on, not on the block below.
Yes, it looked odd, but the result should be the same.
Ray its garbage can, not garbage cannot. U got it man lol
Where was Tony at lunch time ? Tony and Arlo are priceless !! Blessings 🙌

a retractable keychain on that level is a life saver! Love Nantahala, I am from GA and drive that route 3-4 times a year going to asheville
Great educational video.

Excellent video. How many total blocks are going in this job? What is it 5 or 6 men working on the blocks?
