Dr Dray you must start your own line. I would purchase everything you sell. I love and appreciate your advice . Thankyou
:)
🤭 YES PLEASE!
She would only sell 3 products. And maybe a terry-cloth-free towel for the hair. I actually want that.
I agree! The line would be short and sweet, and I believe it could be called "Simple Beauty" with Totoro art work!
I would call it Simply Done :)
I would love to see you have your own “seal” like the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. Anything with the Dr Dray seal would be a purchase option for me!
I agree!
You have such a great sense of humor. You've become my new go to person regarding skin care. Thank you for your candidness.
Thank you so much!
You are doing a great thing for us all, teaching us what products are best for the skin. Thank you for caring for us all!
Thanks!
I’d love to see you review Paula’s choice and Curology!
Wow... You're the first dermatologist I have heard who said no to those "too expensive" vit c serums .. I bought it once ..it's too heavy on pocket when combined with a good cleanser , moisturizer , sunscreen etc . Thank you so much Dr.
Dr Dray you are so amazing.I really really appreciate that you are not one of the people who recomend your audience one those $100 skincare products which says it has some antioxidant and all those overadvertised ingredients.
I just love your minimalist skincare.
Kudos
I love learning all the marketing tricks from you!!! It's amazing how companies mess with our heads, isn't it?? I bought the Austrian Gold but haven't tried it yet.
Lori Weinrib thanks so much! Hope you are having a great day
Lori, let me know how it worked for you, please. I still have my eye on that one. did order the EltaMD form Amazon was 24 bucks with free shipping.
The Australin Gold sunscreen is horrible unless you're pasty white. It leaves a purple-ish white cast (even the tinted version does that) and it does not work too well in my opinion. (still got tanned while wearing it)
I use the Australian Gold tinted and it works great for me- but my natural skin color could charitably be called "fish underbelly!" I have never found a tinted that matches the skin, I use the tinted because it is easier for my foundation or powder to cover that the white caste. The AG is so much better for me than the Exuviance tinted- which had such a grey cast even after applying makeup I still had a zombie look. The Cerave stings my eyes if I got sweaty or rubbed. It also feels like it lasts. It is one of the few sunscreens that lasts because I am a horrible face toucher and I rub most sunscreens off. I can't use chemical sunscreens at all without MASSIVE peeling!!
knitnpaint Reading this now...and I just bought it on amazon for $30, free shipping.🙄🤑
I also like the LaRoche Posay tinted mineral SPF 50 sunscreen. It is not at all greasy ans feels really good on the face. They make an un-tinted version but I like the tinted one better. Cheers!
Just tried cotz. Its fantastic! Thanks dr. Dray
Hi Dr. Dray thanks again for the great advice. Saw some comments about Vanicream and just wanted to let anyone in Canada know that Vanicream is sold under the name Cliniderm up here. I really like their products. Have a lovely day.
Thank you so much for sharing this Ms Belinda! I absolutely love vanicream, and it is so good to know these allergy-free products are available in Canada too!
Thank you Belinda. I will be. Checking that out. I love Dr Dray's review of Vanicream!
Leslie
Belinda Parker thank you so much for that information.
Belinda Parker plastic surgeon friend says as good as his rx products ;-)
Where can I find cliniderm in canada?
These videos are really great. Ingredients in skincare are so confusing. It's very overwhelming at times. Thank you so much ! I love that you outed products at Ulta. That video was awesome. I always felt like I was missing out on good skincare because I couldn't afford the luxury products. What a huge relief to know most of them aren't worth it . I wear sunscreen everyday but have realized I probably don't reapply as often as I should. Thanks again for all you do :)
Thanks!
I absolutely love (most) Japanese sunscreens, particularly from Biore and Nivea. They have hands down the most wearable textures, very high spf protection and are very affordable. However, many do contain a high content of alcohol, but that doesn't seem to irritate or dry me out. So I'm willing to trade that off.
Love your recommendations, keep up the good work!
Thanks so so much!! I can't wait to try the biore and nivea ones out in the future. Where do you get yours? Amazonian?
Yes, do try them. Amazon or ebay, they're pretty easy to track down.
I can't read the ingredients...but I am guessing they have UV filters (like cinnamates perhaps?) as I am not sure they would be able to formulate the water based ones w/ zn or titanium dioxde.
Rctctfvv Fcfchfgcg I love my Biore and Sunkiller too but I just wish they made them in bigger bottles because I go through one in like 2 weeks! No, my face is not tremendously large ...
Yes most do. While there are a variety of sunscreens under each brand most seem to feature ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate among others, but many also include Tinosorb S, which you mentioned was good in your previous video. Yes its rare to find just a ZnO/TiO2 based sunscreen, however they are often included among the sunscreen ingredients. For instance, the ever popular 'Biore UV Water Essence' includes TiO2.
Dear Dr Dray. I cannot believe how fortunate we all are that such a professional person like you can spend so much time to teach us and share your knowledge. We all love you in South Africa
thanks for watching
Thanks again. I canceled my order for the Australian sunscreen after watching your review and purchased the EltaMD at Dermstore for 20 % off and it shipped today. Woohoo!
Hope you like it as much as I do! I think the AG one is fine as far as sunprotection, but i think maybe the plum fruit was not a good ingredient for me.
Pattyann I did not care for the Australian Gold, as I broke out from it but it went on nicely. Elta is next on my want list😁
I like Mychelle's Sun Shield (unscented) SPF 28. I wear it daily under makeup. I've used the Paula's Choice tinted sunscreen too, and I liked it. I may've dodged moisturizer for most of my life but I never neglected sunscreen on my face once I hit my 20s.
The Neutrogena Beach Defense liquid sunscreen is my favorite. It's moisturizing and doesn't leave much of a white cast. It also makes your skin look better, much like a CC cream would.
I like a sunscreen with colored moisturizer. I like to use other skin products as well. I love beauty facials, as well as well as massages!
OK, it's time to up my sunscreen game... Definitely going to check out the vanicream lip sunblock. Never considered the cancer & aging risk to this part of the face. As always, I find your videos informative & enjoyable to watch!
Thanks!! I am enjoying the vanicream lip sunblock. I also noticed cotz has one too that looks really good.
I just purchased the Coolibar cardigan that you love so much and I am so stoked because it was on sale on the Coolibar site and I also had a discount code making my entire purchase (with free shipping) only 50.00! WooHoo!
So awesome to hear! Hope you are enjoying the weekend :)
Elta MD is currently 20% off at dermstore.com they are also an authorized dealer. I stopped buying skincare on Amazon because you just don't really know what you're getting.
Great deal!
I agree with you kcs2the93 with regards on amazon unfortunately dermstore online are not shipping producta internationaly, so sad.
I loveeeee the Austrian gold tinted facial sunscreen, I haven’t had any irritations with it. It’s actually my go to sunscreen but I wouldn’t mind trying the Elta MD sunscreen it sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing 😊
I like the Australian Gold also! Dries down really well and provides a little coverage
it's what I was using for awhile but for some reason the last bottle the tint was looking orange on me. I wonder if I can mix a little with another sunscreen to lighten the color or something
spopparty I would ask a professional
Coming back a year later after starting watching Dr. Drat to happily report that regular application of sunscreen is part of my habit!!! It's totally like brushing your teeth as Dr. Dray says :) becomes second nature and you don't even think about it, not a hassle at all (which I thought it would be when I first started).
How would you recommend using sunscreen throughout the day when you wear makeup? Doesn't it have to be the base layer to be effective?
Ditch the makeup
I put my physical sunscreen then my primer etc. I work in an office with no windows
I buy a sunscreen spray or a suncreen powder to touch up
Dr. Dray, I have been watching some of your older vlogs, (just recently found you on here). And I must say that it is so reassuring to know what you approve and don’t approve of. I’m finding as I see other you tube videos that I am saying to myself, “well let’s just see if Dr. Dray approves of that”. I actually find it very reassuring that I have one source that I can trust. Thank you! 💜
Thanks!
CeraVe has a new formula (2019). Do you recommend the new version as well?
That's the cutest Neutrogena Sheer Zinc sunscreen I've ever seen
Did u use it
Doc!!!! Please do a video on excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) which I have suffered for all my life. I have suffered from seborrea, cystic acne, eczema, seboreic dermatitis; u name it... could all this be related?
There’s a precipitation called Drysol and it’s the only thing that’s saved me.
Adriana Rodriguez god i love drysol
Hi Eric! just curious, were you able to find relief or treatment of you issues? My hear went out to you and I am so hoping you are doing well!
You can also get botox in your sweat receptors.
The main issue I have with wearing sunscreen is that , given the temperature and the humidity in the country I live ( high 20's to mid 30's Celsius & 80% + humidity year around) , whenever I wear sunscreen to go outside ( or anywhere that is not air conditioned) the sunscreen starts dripping down my face and body in a sweaty oily mess which is extremely uncomfortable to tolerate ( not to mention aggravates my acne - acne I developed in my early to mid twenties). Does anyone have any recommendations for sunscreens that would work for tropical climate & high humidity levels ?
I live in a tropical country and neutrogena breakout free spf 55 which she mentioned above works really well btw i have acne prone sensitive skin and it didn't broke me out
Check out Badger Sport Unscented Sunscreen Cream SPF 35. :)
The Eucerin spf 30 face lotion keeps my oily skin matte. It's a terrible sunscreen for reapplication though as it really pills so for reapplication you may need a different one.
you'd probably do better with a mineral sunscreen, it doesn't burn your eyes as much as chemical and there are mineral sunscreen for people with dark skin if the white cast is a concern.
I love in Florida, the most humid state in America-I find eltaMD UV clear is the most comfortable for every day daytime wear. I also have oily skin. And it honestly makes me need to moisturize more. Lol but it’s not water proof. I use altruist when I’m outdoors and possibly going to be sweating because that’s water proof but not too heavy or white. You have to buy it from AMAZON UK, though.
But I will mention I am not much a sweater, so your mileage may vary.
I love how you did a skin patch test. Wouldn't have done that myself.
Just recently found your channel Andrea, and I must say you have far best content out there. Very informative and engaging! Thank you for making all the skin care Q&As! Changed my entire skincare routine last weekend 😊
Thanks! Glad to hear you are enjoying
What is the best way to remove mineral sunscreen from the face?
Using a cerave facial cleanser alone is not enough. Online I read oil is the best way and then wash face with the cleanser. So what oil cleanser would you recommend to use to help remove the mineral sunscreens?
Thank you so much
All your advice is excellent and extremely useful
i double cleanse with hada labo oil cleanser and the cerave face wash, or another face wash
Great video! I did the layering of sunscreen for the first time. I used the CeraVe as a base with the tinted Elta for the first time this week. Love the combination, works well on my mature skin. Thanks Dr. Dray.
Thanks!
Andrea! VERY useful, to-the-point video that is informative. I know sunscreens are important, but this video helps me to cut through the "fog" of commercial info out there. Just something simple, basic yet effective is all I'm after, and you've helped me to shorten the list of products. A BIG THANKS for this one.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, especially about the antioxidants in the creams. I did pick up a sunscreen with vitamin c in it. I understand that it's unlikely to help my skin. What I want to know is if it will damage my skin by making my sunscreen less effective? Does the vitamin c make me become more exposed to phototoxicity?
vitamin C is unstable in topicals and is further destabilized by uv light
the neutrogena sheer touch is high in fragrance that irritates some people and burns if it gets in the eyes
When you're european and you know only Bioderma, Euserin and Vichy 😂😂😂
Румяна Радева CeraVe as well.
Dr. Dray, I read that zinc oxide offers the best protection against both UVB and UVA, BUT that it has to be in a high concentration of at least 20% zinc oxide; or a combination of at least 15% zinc oxide with at least 7.5% titanium dioxide for mineral sunscreens. Should we be concerned about sunscreens that have very low concentrations (e.g. 4%) of active ingredients despite the claim of having a high broad spectrum (e.g. 50 SPF)? I use prescription retin-A and want to make sure that I'm protecting my face more than adequately. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and expertise! :)
it is is but the concentration is not what refects the spf or pa
Dr. Dray, sunscreen always burns my eyes to the point where it's intolerable. Do you have any advise or recommendations for this?
Don't get it in your eyes... Or use mineral based sunscreens, the chemical ones are more likely to sting your eyes than their iron or zinc oxide counterparts
Hi Dr. Grey! First of all, thank you so much for doing this channel. It was quite fortuitous to stumble up on it. My skin has always been a huge challenge, I'm prone to allergic reactions, have eczema, allergic to chemical sunscreen, my face is very dry albeit oily at the same time and my body skin just horrid. Trying to take care of it has been a minefield that has beaten me into submission and I came to terms with having premature aging, dull and loss in elasticity until I binge watched your channel.
I'm from South Africa located in a very dry climate with a relentless sun. I have been trying to hunt down mineral sunscreen for a while and there really isn't anything available that isn't blasted with fragrance and all kinds of useless extracts, never mind trying to find a vegan brand, they seems to be the worst at this, much to my idealogical dismay. I have finally found one though, it's Uriage's hypoallergenic fragrance free mineral cream, in a 50 ml (1.7 fl. oz.) tube, which isn't very much and is predominantly titanium dioxide based. The obvious solution would be to get a larger quantity however I'm out of luck in that regard, there really isn't any and ordering online becomes a ridiculous expense.
Anyway, to cut a long story, I've noticed that some baby bum rash creams are predominantly zinc oxide based and they're relatively easy to get ahold of and some are fragrance free, do you think this might work as an effective sunscreen? Sorry if this is the silliest thing you have heard from someone but you know... desperate here.
Thanks if you have been reading this whole saga up until now and again thank you for imparting your knowledge so freely, it really is rare to find information that is helpful, resonates and not full of gimmick and nonsense and learn a crapload in between laughs.
I just got my vanicream lip product yesterday and honestly i kind of like the cast it’s almost like a light pink lip gloss when it’s on the lips! Nobody wants wrinkles or sun damage on or around their lips but nobody protects them!
My dermatologist recommended Vanicream products for my sensitive skin. So far, so good! I need to try the sunscreen for my lips!
Love vanicream products to bits! Hope you like the lip balm :)
AG I think broke me out too. I LOVED it for the first couple of days but then realized it wasn't washing off, even with a thorough double cleanse. I will probably use it on my neck and chest and use a washcloth with Albolene to get it off. Not wanting to try it on my face again. Elta MD continues to be my fave.
I was curious whether you would say sunBLOCK is better than sunSCREEN. I was reading that they differ in protection against UVA and UVB rays, that screen absorbs UVA rays. Is that true, and if so, does it make sunblock better at protecting than sunscreen?
Thanks!
My favorite body sunscreen is the H.E.B generic brand fragrance free sport 100. It's a local grocery store available only in Texas and Northern Mexico so if I ever moved out of Texas I'm not sure what I would do! Lol
you should look into biore's water sunscreen (they're so comfortable and sheer and sink right in) I love how light the water-gel like sunscreen just apply. feels like nothing is there. It's because of this why I love the chemical ones.
I do hear good things about this from ya'll. Look forward to trying it out!
The Australian Gold cause an allergic reaction on my skin,.I loved its texture and feel though. I will try the Eltamd next.
What would you recommend for a sunscreen that i can use on my face that won't leave me white, fragrance free, and inexpensive? I love the Elta MD sunscreens but they are out of my price range, so I am looking for an alternative.
While I have enjoyed obtaining the often detailed analyses that you provide, I find it very difficult to hone in on your recommendations for products that would recommend as you have “ really liked” or “loved” so many different products over time that I do not see a real comparative recommendation as to what to actually buy, especially since representative pricing of products is not really provided. Perhaps at some point you could provide maybe three recommendations for each product category to include Sport sunscreens for the face that will not sting the eyes, and full body sunscreens that are relatively inexpensive and have a 0 - 1 cast number, all with at least approximate or price range pricing. Also it is great that you do provide information on products to avoid....Way to go!
Good morning, Dr. Dray! I’ve got another question today: I’m a makeup junkie so I wear makeup pretty often. I use cerave spf 50 before putting makeup on, I apply it twice in a pretty thick layer but what do I do during the day? I can’t apply sunscreen on top of makeup. Do you recommend using the sprays with spf?
Dr Dray, should we also be concerned with IR (infrared radiation) since the wavelengths are much longer than UVA and penetrate much deeper than UVA rays as well?
yeah that is a great question! We think it may play a role, though likely minor, is chronic photodamage of the skin. However, we don't have as much as data in this area as we do with UVB (the rays that burn).
First off, I love you! You’re saving lives one bottle of sunscreen at a time 🙌👏♥️😘. I just got a tube of Coola non-scented bb cream, spf 30, that’s matte and a pack of 3 of their lip balms that are somewhere between a balm and a lipstick...can I just stop and sing their praises?! Holy moly. I’ve been using retin-a and following your journey and just got my 13 year old daughter on it. This Coola bb cream totally evened our skins so there’s no need for foundation. We both have oily skin and live in humid FL...this stuff stayed on great! I’d love to know if you’ve tried it and what you thought. You’re an angel! Thanks for all the advice ♥️♥️♥️
One sunscreen that I used last year and really liked is called Tizo. I used the tinted version on my face, but I did see on Amazon that they also offer an untinted one. I really liked it because it felt fantastic going on, had no scent and didn't upset my skin, because it was a physical sunscreen. I got it where I go to get botox occasionally, and I got my Colorscience brush on there too. It's great! I use it in my t'zone where I can get a bit shiny after lunch. Good stuff, thank you!
Im ordering the elta md! The AZ sun is brutal! Love what she said about antioxidants in skincare--makes total sense
i like it
Since this video was done 6 years ago, hopefully someone will see this & respond. I tried the Elta MD UV Sport SPF 50. LOVE it. Goes on white, and some people say you are supposed to not rub it in, just let it sit until it goes "non" white on its own. I rub it in--hope I'm not taking away the efficacy of it by doing that. My problem is using 1/4 tspn on just my face, and even just doing that 1x a day (cuz I have other sunscreens I switch off to)--I have gone through 1/2 of a 3oz. tube in 6 weeks. WOW??? Gonna end up being ultra expensive.
I have been waiting for this! Off-topic question, but I was reading the rave reviews of the Hydroboost Gel Cream from Neutrogena, so I think I'm going to give it a whirl. Should I apply the Hydraboost instead of my normal Cerave moisturizer, or should I apply the Hydraboost and then the regular moisturizer on top of it?
I apply hydroboost first to wet face, followed by moisturizer and IMO this is how works best. I tried it in the beginning just as a plain moisturizer and thought it sucked. It serves to "boost" the moisturizer" by holding on to some water on to the surface of the skin...then the moisturizer can seal it in. Or at least that is how I think it works. Given that it is a non-drug cosmetic though, who knows for sure.
Dr Dray - I followed this verbatim!! it really worked for me doc. thanks for showing us how to use hydroboost in the earlier videos.
I took my Hydroboost back to Costco and thought it sucked. i used it plain like a moisturizer and thought it was just a bunch of Silicones and did not like it. So you have to use it differently ? Is it much different than the Ordinary Hylauraunic acid or Buffet? I have those 2 and use them the way you describe the use of the hydroboost.
Dr Dray ....... thank you so much..i never put it on a moist face and that really really works ... love it!!!! Thank you Dr Dray,🤗
Thanks for this, I live in FL, and choosing a good sunscreen can be overwhelming.
I like Beach Defense lotion formula for the all over body. And it does smell good. I think the stick is good for reapplying when you can't wash your hands afterwards. Can be great for back of the hands as hands are one of the first ones to show signs of aging.
Thank you for this video and for mentioning how important lip protection is! I can't wait to add the Vanicream to my lip SPF arsenal!
Thanks so much! I love that one. I also see cotz has one that looks promising. Hope you are having a great night!
I love how the Cerave goes on and it doesn't make me greasy. What I hate (and I suspect Consumer Reports did too) was the tiny 2 oz tube. It IS nice for a purse tube for re-application, but I would need about one tube a week if I applied it properly. (even though one tube doesn't seen too expensive, it doesn't last long. In the summer I use my face stuff on the upper chest and back. I try to brainstorm why people don't use sunscreen properly, I think cost could one.
Interesting - I have a tube of Australian Gold - Botanical Sunscreen , SPF 50; the non-tinted form of what you showed, and it DOES have fragrance (along with the plum extract :( ) I've been using it since the fall for my face (here in the north that is ALL that is exposed until about now .. however, I'm now cognizant of windows and re-applying so might not last this long now). Despite it's naughty ingredients, I LOVE it. In fact, it was the first time I've religiously worn sunscreen because it has a beautiful matte finish that does not look like an oil slick in an hour. I've found nothing comparable, so I'm going to keep using until I develop a sensitivity to the fruit juice :) :) Of course, it is also very inexpensive, and you know I'm all about that :) . In the meantime, I plan to write the company and ask them to take the fruit and fragrance out and they would have my perfect product :) (I'm sure they will listen.
**Simply anecdotal, but the Australian Gold seems to do a better job as a sunscreen for me.. maybe b/c it is thicker? For example, today I used the Cerave, lubed up well b/4 walking the dog (about an hour), on a cloudy, overcast day. I had some freckles when got home (I am very fair with tendency to freckle). Yesterday I used by usual AG for 2 hour long dog walks in full sun, and no freckles or noticeable changes. I don't have anything against freckles, just that I know they are my skin's first response to sun exposure. And of course, I should also have a hat on :) . Anyway, I will try it again, maybe put on a thicker later. Just my experience, for whatever it's worth :)
I've always wondered an effective way to apply sunscreen to the scalp. I wear a nike cap when outside, but certainly will not be rocking that on my wedding day. Thanks for the tip, and great video as always.
hey i bet you could a veil put on a nike cap?? lol! JK. Congrats btw!!
Have you heard of Heliocare oral capsules? They contain ‘Fernblock’ that derives from a species of fern with powerful antioxidants that are supposed to boost the skin’s ability to tolerate and recover from sun exposure. Dr Dray, I would love to hear your opinion of these as a dermatologist! heliocare.com.sg/product/heliocare-oral/
Oh Dr Dray I did not listen to you and bought the Australian Gold for the body for a Maui vacation. Really liked the product but after a few days developed a mild case of contact dermatitis from the back of my hands up to my shoulders. Switched to Aveno Baby for now. On a positive note, no sunburn after being here 11 days.
i am sorry to hear that happened
Still running a year plus behind your current videos. I just want to say that I've used the Cere Ve baby formula on my face, eyes, neck, and ears and love the silky ease of application. I don't have kids, but I can imagine that this sunblock in particular would be easy (easier) to quickly apply to a squirming youngster eager to escape back to more entertaining activities.
it is a great choice!
Dr. Dray, I started using sunscreen everyday on my face. I started using Neutrogena and after seeing break-outs, I switched to the Australian one that you showed in this video. I still have break -outs but there are less with the Australian sunscreen. Is there any sunscree in particular that won't cause me break outs?
I bought Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion Redness Relief (tinted, mineral sunscreen) yesterday. I've tried both the Badger mineral tinted sunscreen as well as Elta MD clear mineral sunscreen (tinted), and for me, this formula wins hands down. I'm replacing my foundation with this ($40+ in exchange for not quite $20). Thanks to implementing some of your cleanser, moisturizer, Adapalene suggestions, I don't feel the need for foundation any more. Thanks for all the great info :-)
glad to hear you like it! i think it is a good one
In France, Avène is a drugstore brand, but they do feel good! I like the feel of Bioderma and Avene more than LRP, and their tinted sunscreens that utilize physical blockers, and are NC30-friendly. The sunscreens convert to $8-10 USD. I finish a 50mL in two months, so I load up my suitcase when I travel with my husband to his yearly hometown visit and store them in my cold dark furniture storage hehe
Hi Dr Dray! thank you for your informative video. I just wanted to know if you approve of "Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Facial Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 70"?? Like the one you recommended, it's also part of the "Neutrogena Ultra Sheer" line. Your advice is greatly appreciated
Just discovered you Dr Dray and I love your vlogs. You are very very knowledgeable about all things skin care. I have already run out and purchased some of the line from CeraVe. Thank you!
I love when you can read our minds! 😊
:)
Excelent video. I use now EltaMD but the one SPS 46 clear and also the neutrogena "Clear Face" SPF 55, both fantastics, thanks for share and for your suggestion. No more oily face :)
I love those!
OOps I also wanted to say that the Australian Gold burnt my skin and I had to put ice packs on my face. Wish I had seen this video before I purchased it. You were right again!
sorry to hear that happened to you too Ms maria
The Kacado Plum is the culprit that caused me to develop irritant contact dermatitis. I bought a new night cream from Glow Lab and the first time I ever used it it got so bad and my neck flared right up. I had to go to the chemist for a hydrocortisone cream and used it with just Sudo Cream(Zinc oxide) which made it clear up amazingly almost overnight!
Now I have done a complete cull of everything I own and anything containing essential oils, fragrance, perfume and SLS is gone! All that's left is alot of Simple and Neutrogena products!
BTW I am sensitive skinned, freckles and very fair and burns very easily so that's the reason I am so sensitive to products.
I love that Botanical 50, been trying it for a week. I really wears well under makeup without messing up the foundation. But next I want to try your favorite here, the Elta.
I love Australian Gold tinted and no bad reaction on me. It does not leave any residue and blends super nice. I am Mexican so i have tan color skin.
Aveeno positively radiant sunscreen almost made me BLIND !! It gave me eye pain and headache. Just be aware of this product. I do have psoriasis. But still. I never had a sunscreen that bothered my eyes SO MUCH !
Good to know about the fruit extract in the Australian Gold. I thought about getting it along with my usual Cotz in their buy one get one at 50% off sale. I'll just get two of the Cotz instead! Happy Saturday! 🤗
I saw cotz has a great looking sunscreen lip balm too! Have you tried it? I want to give a whirl.
Thank you for your recommendations, I live in France so I bought French pharmacy sunscreens : Daylong extreme w/ bisoctizole (nano) and SVR mineral tinted w/niacinamide, I love them. I also bought the 2%BHA cleanser by Neutrogena and it has been clearing my pores really well.
Thank you so much for sharing the name of these sunscreens! I need to find them and try them out. Glad to hear the sal acid face wash is also working out well for you. Hope you are having a great day :)
The copper tone water babies pure and simple is the best, most cost efficient mineral sunscreen option I’ve been able to find!
i want to try it
Dr Dray the cheapest I’ve been able to find it is at Walmart
I love the Australian Gold tinted face sunscreen from the same line and use it everyday but I also could not make that body version work either!
I love your channel. I trust ALL your information and recommendations. Thank u so much.
thank you so much for sharing unselfishly your knowledge with us.this means a lot for some of us that care about this kinda stuff. I am still struggling finding a sunscreen that would not turn me into a grease ball but each day I am closer :)
thanks! don't give up :)
The Australian gold sunscreen irritated my skin too. I was upset because so many people recommended and it wears nicely with makeup over. I could not understand why until I saw this video. Thank you
i have tried it several times again since this video, and always the same
I was watching one of my makeup UA-camrs her name is tati yesterday and she used the coolest thing it's probably pretty pricey but it's foam sunscreen I don't know how to send a link or anything for you to check it out but I thought I'd share........ as always sending out Good Vibes and positive energy to everyone
yeah i see a bananna boat sunscreen foam out in the stores too. Not sure how reliable they are, but i think they might be okay and if tolerated well maybe a good adjunct to a base layer. Let me know if you try it out and how it goes
Just sharing, babo botanicals has a great lip balm sunscreen spf15 which I use daily, and works well under any lipsticks I use!
thanks!
Julie Fraioli what's the active sunscreen ingredient?
hammypie titanium dioxide
Thank you for your excellent videos. I will recommend your videos to all of my patients!
I know this video was from a year ago, but if it's in your orbit, could you do an updated one with reef-safe ones? Or your favourite cruelty free ones? If not, that's totally cool too, I found your videos today and they're very fun and informative.
Australian gold botannical tinted sunscreen spf 50 is reef-safe and cruelty free! She mentions it in this video. Something in it bothered her but I have sensitive skin too and it worked great for me! It's like $11 on Amazon so could be worth a shot
Dr. Dray: Thanks as always...LoVE YoUr HeLPfuL Knowledge! But...I'm confused on all these layers of things that go on the face. Now...if you wear foundation, and moisturizer.....when do you put on your sunscreen? Also there is a powder sunscreen that a friend was mentioning. Do you know anything about these powder sunscreens? Thanks so much! Cheers..Lisa
That is so sad that you got contact dermatitis from the Australian Gold ☹️ you are such a saint, thank you for everything you do for us, the audience ❤️
I also love the Japanese Biore watery sunscreen!! I will wear it without hesitation because it never causes trouble with my cosmetics. Thanks!!
:)
Plz recommend sunscreen for hyperpigmented acne prone sensitive sweaty n combination skin. Currently i m using aqua gel
Would love to try the Elta products; however, in Canada they would both be over $50 with the shipping. I have tried the CeraVe but it produced small white blisters all over my face. Aveeno makes a mineral sunscreen but that gave me several milia. I was using a combo sunscreeen, Kiss my Face Face Factor 30 (not the one with the oat or the spf 50 one - these are not good for my skin) and liked it. I did need to use a moisturizer with it. After running out, purchased the Ombrelle Ultra light 60 mineral. This was the worst sunscreen I have ever purchased. Red welts appeared within hours and it felt like Crisco on the skin. I also had a very hard time removing it. Currently, I am using the Avene Mineral (no tint) and like it. I have Rosacea and severely allergic skin.
wendy dye glad to hear you found one that works
Hi Dr. Dray, would it be advisable to use 2 sunscreens together? Chemical and physical?
Neil Carlson Tan Sy I’d like to know this as well! I wonder if she’s mentioned it in one of her videos before
@@stg12t3 It really depends on the ingredients of the sunscreen. Typically ZnO and TiO2 with Avobenzone makes the avobenzone degrade faster.
I really like the MD Solar Sciences sunscreen , they do have tinted but it feels a little heavy on the silicones.
I want to try the Cotz regular sunscreen but their tinted was just awful for me. felt so full of cones and that icky feeling like it just sat on my face. It was not as smooth as the MD tinted.
Also Lavanila makes a good physical screen! claims waterproof too.
I tried a small sample of the MD solar sciences one awhile back and I do recall a sticky sensation. Good to know that the non-tinted one is more tolerable. Will have to check out lavanila...never heard of that one before. Thanks for sharing and I hope you are having a nice Sunday Ms Brooke :)
You are adorable Dr. dray!
Aww thank you so much for your sweet comment. Have a fantastic weekend :)
Dr Dray enjoy your weekend also. I ordered samples of the EltaMD tinted and Pure spf 47. Look forward to testing them out.
Rafa Fan, where can one order samples of these?
Skinmedix.com
Rafa Fan Thanks!
I use the Babo Botanicals SPF 40 Face for Sensitive Skin works amazingly under makeup. Also, the Clinique Pep Start SPF 50 Mineral sunscreen, works well under makeup too!
thanks for sharing this ms april!
Hi Dr Dray, loved the video as usual! I'm using the Murad City Skin Defense suncream at the moment and it's the first suncream to not break me out, but recently read that it has relatively low percentages of zinc oxide and so is not a great sun protectant. Is this true? My main priority is having the best sun protection. I will look into your recommendations if that is the case. I live in Ireland so find it hard to find some products. Thank you for brilliant content!
thank you so much for your time Andrea - love your vlogs and your funny little snort that you sometimes do when you laugh ;-)
so helpful! i am asian but i dun like jaonese and korea sunscreens because i could never read the ingredients and their active ingredients are not clearly listed. I used to use them since they are truly lighter on the skin but overtime i have grown so many freckles that i feel like i cant trust these brands anymore.
Thanks for sharing this here in the comments. Hope you are having a great day :)
To get the crutley free they have to no testing in China. Here in the UK we can easily get Simple which I hear you can get in the USA. Its owned by UNILEVER. You have to take some of its claims as fairy stories, but my skin seem to like it and behave itself. I have sensitive skin and red patches on my checks and nose. Which can get itchy and sore. So I have learnt to use a sun screen on my face this year in sunny UK. Have a great week end and see you on Monday
Good to know Ms Kristina! Thanks for sharing this and yes we can get the Simple line here as well. Hope you are having a great day!
they cant be sold in China because they test on animals.....cruelty free means no testing on animals.
Any tips on removing Sunscreen at the end of the day?
Your channel is extremely informative and honest. I appreciate how you are realistic about $ on cosmetics.
i find the double cleanse method using an oil based cleanser first helps
Very helpful video as always Dr! I have a question in regards to boil's appearing on the face; is there anyway of speeding the healing treatment of those? I've heard they're not caused by the same mechanism of typical acne therefore don't require the same form of treatment? Do you have any tips on healing them?
