Interesting sidenote: In German the book isn't called "the lightening thief", it's called "thieves in the olymp", so maybe that's why Zeus is so prominent on the cover to make up for that missing information.
THAT would make a whole lot of sense
The flying shoe one is the original UK cover. The real thing is a lot darker than the image looks though. I was given it for my 10th birthday, and thought it looked like it was for older teens. I didn't end up reading it until I was 17. At some point they replaced it with the blue Spanish design. My copies of Titan's Curse, Battle of the Labyrinth, and the Last Olympian look like that. The current version is like the French cover, but darker blue with different text. They updated all of Rick Riordan's UK book covers in 2018.

I’ve seen the newer book covers for the Percy Jackson books. They’re pretty but they don’t speak to me. I am treating myself to the set like the one that you have on your shelf as a birthday present to myself. (Even though I have the first set of the books with the cover illustrations done by John Rocco.) but the covers for that set look amazing!

I hope you’ll continue doing these! I’ve started collecting Rick Riordan books in the languages of the countries I’ve traveled to. The first was TLT in Greek, followed by TSOM in Slovak and TTC in German. I just find it very interesting how different the covers look in different countries! The Slovak covers really are something else and I hope you’ll feature them in the next video 😂

I’m German and I really like the covers. I’ve found a really old German cover (that one in the bottom left corner on the video cover) and I think it’s funny but I’m glad they changed it.

My school has a copy of the original cover and it’s actually super shiny and holographic, I think it’s alright but I enjoy the newer ones a lot more :). It’s also falling apart because it’s so old and I really question why they have that one but the box set for the rest of the books.

The best cover we have in Italy belongs to an edition that contains all five books of the saga together, an edition that was also made for the other Riordanverse sagas. But if we take the covers of individual books... yes, we weren't very lucky.

18:18 An extremely similar version of that cover is also sold in Australia. The only difference is the yellow writing, obviously it’s in English, not French, and the publishing company.
Personally I really love the Dutch covers for Rick’s books!
I just looked them up and they're pretty cool! It's kinda weird that books 2 & 3 look almost the same as the american covers, but the other three are completely different hahaha

I really prefer the few covers where there isn’t any clue of who is Percy’s dad, I am from Ecuador and the cover showed Percy with that much lightning I thought that Percy was a son of Zeus and was gladly surprised by the clues inside the book of who was his father.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I think Percy’s face looks good and like his age in the older Battle of the Labyrinth cover.
You should check the covers by khadijah katib they are amazing (they are the redesigned cover for indian subcontinent) they put percy in a way that makes it natural
youre missing one the cover of the penguin book publishing. i dont know when they are release but they are by far the coolest with the neon accents and 3d like effects.

Huh, The Lightning Thief has more cover variants than I thought. And they're not even done pumping new covers out yet, since we're getting ANOTHER one in November for the Disney+ series.
I'd have to say my favorites are the first John Rocco cover and the 2014 cover tbh? I don't have any of the OG covers, but I've been tempted to track them down. Though if I were to do that, I'd end up owning three copies of TLT since I (unfortunately) also own the movie-tie in lmaoo. One positive thing I'll say about the movies is that they got me into the books 💀

Have you read the skulduggery pleasant book series it follows the heroes journey structure like Percy Jackson and Harry potter and it's really good I'm only on the first book though but I think you'll like it

The Italian cover lowkey gives me the last Olympian vibes,, if that was a cover for the fifth book(and you ignore the lightning bolt) I'd be okay with that

The Australian covers, the ones I have, look like the French ones and I despise them. It's a pretty cool font but Percy looks like movie Percy.

The Spanish cover looks like the UK edition but I never liked it. I liked the ones that form the NYC skyline and I just need to get books1 & 2 to complete my set because my copy of Percy Jackson 1 is the first film adaptation. And it has a special meaning to me because it got me into reading. 😅 I also like the new covers for Percy Jackson & the Olympians.
the first edition you read is always very special (which is why I want to steal my sisters books hahaha)

12:31 idk if it's the font and it's placement or what, but that gives me the vibes of all those books at the 2nd hand store I'd find that have sorta compelling summaries, so I bring them home, but they're never enough for me to actually read them, like, they always give off a bad vibe despite the story sounding like it could be decent,, so they waste away on my bookshelf,,, also sorta gives maximum ride, which I read a few of,, hut those covers were really a miss

went and got the mural cover box set from a bookshop that's farther away from my local one (it's my favourite personally because of how everything links up, also the box set poster is neat) and second hand copies of the og covers (idk about other places but they're out of print here and shipping is expensive rip)

Hey do yk why the last edition you rank, the last olymipan version of that, has a snake around fire? Also i have the British cover and def don't like it when you compare it to the American cover but it's just grown on me ig? it looks pretty much like the second last cover and ig it gives off nostalgia for me.
