- Hello, and welcome to another video! I asked you guys to send me Unpopular BOOKISH opinions, so of course, about 50% of them were Percy Jackson related...
And so in this video I will try to tell you if your unpopular opinion in right or wrong! Completely based on my own opinions and biases of couse.
Disclaimer: this video is a joke, these are my opinions and they're valid, your opinions are valid too, opinions are subjective (specially bookish opinions) so there's really no right or wrong...

I think that was just a marketing strategy for someone who hasn't read the book. Yeah Annabeth is amazing and the whole quest was about her and SHE DESERVES to be on the cover I think the, um, designers (??) made it because the last two books were about Percy and Jason, and they haven't met each other yet, and they are supposedly the Roman/Greek version of the other, so the cover was designed in such a way to make the reader believe that Jason and Percy would fight because of this.
Idk I always thought that the designers made the cover so that it could trigger the curiosity in mind of the reader and force us to pick up the book in an instant.

I don't blame percy for either of those. I recently re read the both series and I can clarify that percy did point his sword to Nico's throat when he came to visit percy in the chamber. And it was ok because even though Nico did not know Hades would capture percy, he did lie to percy because he was in the end going to hand percy over to Hades.
And in the second part, Percy had FREAKING AMNESIA! he didn't know who he was, he was unaware of his past. OBVIOUSLY he would be mad at Nico for not telling him.
YES Nico couldn't interfere with Heras plan BUT Percy didn't know that. So the fault is not Nico's, not Percy's but Heras because I hate her 😃✌️
ALSO DONT GET ME WRONG I ABSOLUTELY LOVE NICO I WAS JUST BACKING PERCY UP and also feeling the desire to trash on Hera ✨

the whole perachel thing happened before Percy and Annabeth got together and a lot of people hate Rachel because of it but no one hates Reyna, Reyna and Percy were in a similar(kinda) situation in the SoN but Percy and Annabeth were already together by that point. The situations are different in a few ways but they have similar in the fact that another girl other than Annabeth is in a sort of romantic situation with Percy. The Rachel haters realistically should hate Reyna as well. Not suggesting people should hate Reyna but showing that the whole reason people hate Rachel is pretty dumb.
I don't hate Rachel and actually started to like her in ToA. However, she kissed Percy without his consent and that is not ok in any case (independently of if he was with Annabeth or not). I think even Percy said (because we still first-person narration at that point) that he was so so confused by what had happened. Kissing someone without their consent is never ok.

I have never hated Rachel. She is underrated. She is a plastic blue hairbrush ninja. I kind of hope she comes along in the Solagolo book. I also think Thalia and Hazel feel less powerful than the boys. Idk why they just do.

I completely agree with u on the rivalry between the PJO and HP fandoms part. Being a part of both of them (and loving them to death) and then seeing people fighting over which one is better makes me so annoyed. Like stop with the hate already

I love them both a lot, even my parents know about my craziness with blue food and hogwarts wand and stuff like that. Both the universes are unique and awesome and brilliant, I can't compare both. And I'm a Ravenclaw daughter of Apollo pleasure to make your acquantance.

I think people forget it wasn’t Leo’s fault he couldn’t tell his friends he was alive before getting Calypso.
Leo didn’t want to stress out his friends, knowing he’d die and by the time he actually came back and woke up, Festus had flown himself the majority of the way to Ogygia (idk if I spelled that right). Leo didn’t choose to go straight to Ogygia, Festus did.
I’d bet finding his friends would’ve been one of the first things Leo would’ve thought about if Festus hadn’t already started flying toward Ogygia.
Nope. Festus had to fly to Ogygia immediately because Leo had to be dead to get there. "No living person finds Ogygia twice" or something was the spell.

8:42 Even though I would like Thalia to also be aro/ace, I simply can't forget her comment about Apollo being "so hot" (I know platonic attraction is a thing, though) and the fact that she didn't join the Hunters because of personal preference, but in order not to age so she would'nt be the demigod of the prophecy.

Again, I just think we don't have enough information to theorize about Thalia's orientation. In fact, it is not that part what makes me say so, but the second one (her true reason to join the Hunters).

Yeah, the first time she reject them was cuz of Luke. Meaning it could be cuz she have a crush on him aka romantic feeling. Zoe say he gonna let her down. Then she mention Apollo is hot. Given the time the book was written, Rick didn't want to push LGBT community on his book yet, she would have been written as a straight character. There was even hint of LGBT with Selena and Clarisse but nothing with Thaila. So we don't have much to go on like you say. However, base on how most book of that time era was written (all the main were white and straight) and the settle hints, I would say she is straight or bi at least.
I personally think she joined the hunters because she knew that there was no hope for Luke left. She ran across the hunters in the early days, when she was on the run with Luke and Annabeth, but refused to join because of Luke.

The only major character missing from the end of BoO was Thalia! Everyone was there but her. I'm still waiting for a time when Thalia, Percy and Nico all fight together! How epic would that be!?

I think the prophecy should have been about a group of 5 demigods. That would have been much easier to write, because there are less characters and relationships between those said characters to focus on. I mean look at Hazel and Frank: They're completly forgotten after SoN as well as their relationships with the other Seven. So in terms of usefullness I would throw out Hazel and Frank, of likeability it would be Jason and Piper and if I had written HoO I wouldn't have included Percy and Annabeth, just because they already had their own series and their relationship is pretty much developed.
One thing about the Nico -- Percy thing is that he was actually forbidden by his dad, god of the Underworld, to tell anyone (Blood of Olympus) and do you really expect a thirteen/fourteen year old to disobey his big three godly parent for something that trivial? But Percy didn't know that, so I guess it's okay.
One issue I have with the fandom, though, is that it always seems to focus on how Percy lost his memories, and how Percy had to get them back, meanwhile, Nico is also beginning to find stuff out through regaining memory of his first ten years, probably remembering family and friends who are most likely dead now. That's Hazel and Percy/Jason's situations mashed up into one.
Also, Reyna and Nico did help as much. It's a lot bigger than any of the seven's mini-quests, the three of them having to fight monsters literally every day for weeks which is basically just what the seven do on their mini-quests, and a lot more taxing, particularly on Nico.
Also, one thing about delivering the Athena Parthenos a lot of people do not realize is that before then, because of the conflict between their Greek and Roman sides, the gods COULD NOT HELP the seven. If they hadn't gotten that statue to Camp Half-Blood, the seven wouldn't have been able to kill the giants, the seven would squashed, and Gaia would have taken over the world. So yeah. They kinda did help.
And with the Theyna thing, I think what they were trying to say is Thalia is aro and Reyna is ace, and therefore very incompatible.

I think the Octavian hate comes from him being annoying and not really having good motives (which is ok) but Luke had motives making him a more likable character

Complete agree with your opinion on luke..He was a great character but a bad person..The things he did throughout the series are unforgivable.

There were a lot of characters who had trauma. Leo killed his mom by accident because he couldn't control his powers. Percy had an abusive step dad and Annabeth's family pretty much rejected her. Frank probably had the least trauma because everyone had a pretty traumatic experience at some point.
Are you forgetting the fact that his mom and grandma died and nearly sacrificed himself several times with the firewood
@@turquoiselemon4363 I guess I did forget that. Whoops, my bad! I guess they did all have about the same amount of trauma. I'd honestly like to see a video exploring those experiences. It's just interesting to see how even fictional characters battle through life changing events.
The mark of Athena and the house of Hades were such a mental rollercoaster so Rick decided to give us a less exciting finale

my opinion on this is that in the Battle of the labyrinth i honestly just dislike the way annabeth treated rachel just cause she liked percy- like ik shes jelly and all (yes im a percabeth shipper dont @ me i ship it i really do) but i just dislike the way she treated rachel-

I’m 50/50 on most of these comments. Especially about Luke being a hero. After reading TLO I wasn't sure what to think of him. Sure he made the right decision in the end, but he was still bad in the other books. I can also see him being manipulated into it but I’m just really I'm the fence with this one,
Luke did make the right decision, but sometimes I think it was just to save him own skin from the punishments he would've faced from the gods and CHB.
@@clairetomlinson7043 I don't think Lukes death was at all admirable he died because he was afraid of Kronus and literally committed suic*de and people think of him as a great example of a villain turn hero we shouldn't be encouraging suic*de (sorry that is kind of dark but I thought it needed to be said)

@@meganbell5587 I agree with you 100%. The action is what they needed to win the war, but that doesn't make them right. I don't think that Luke was a hero, but I think that Uncle Rick wanted to show that it was just kids fighting this war, and all they wanted from the beginning to be not disregarded or not to feel unwanted. I think that's why he made everyone think of him as a hero.
I genuinely believe percy loss some brain cells when he thought that. I could almost see the author typing out "One last twist." But it was dumb, like the rachel being the prohecy woman, I hated that. Her character felt like Thalia, brought in for no or almost a good reason, brought out in the dumbest way.

I think my really unpopular opinion would be that I don't like the hunters of artemis as a group. From what I remember of the books if you analyze them critically they have some cult like behaviors and some pretty toxic traits. Same with the amazons I find them somewhat problematic. I like the concept of both groups but I'm not that much of a fan of the execution
16:33 I really agree with that comment, but recently I saw a post that gave me another perspective and wow, just made sense. It showed how both Jason and Reyna were so pressured by Camp Jupiter that he left as soon as he had the chance and she did just a year after. Camp Jupiter, unlike CHB, doesn't necessarily felt like a home for them (the demigods in general), but a place of constant pressure and competition. I feel that Reyna just wanted a place where she was part of something.
And yeah, I feel like Rick automatically groups all the girls that don't want relationship in the "I hate all men" team (i.e. The Hunters, The Amazons or Circe's island). I kinda get the historical (?) background of that, but just ... no.

Octavian just wanted power, he was mean to Percy, kept saying that The Greeks were going to betray the Romans and was pretty much the reason for that whole war between the camps before Gaia shows up. So, you can see why he wouldn't be my most favourite character. 😂
Rachel is one of my favorite characters actually, I absolutely hate when people hate on her
Unpopular Opinion: The di Angelo kids deserved better
Reyna only did one and flew across the ocean in a day, but Nico on the other hand, went to Tartarus by himself, got trapped in a bronze jar, got turned into corn, was outed by Eros for the staff, shadow travelled the Athena Parthenos halfway across the globe, even though it would cause him to almost fade into shadows, killed the guy that tried to kill Reyna, almost making it impossible to prevent the Greek vs. Roman war, and did not let anyone stop Octavian(Octopus) from dying. All of that for the prophecy of 7 to happen, 8 quests for Nico, pretty much or just as many quests as the 7! ( as you can tell i have a VERY strong opinion on this)
Honestly, I think SoM was my favorite because of my MASSIVE biased towards Clarisse and Tyson
I actually agree with the person who said that they think Sea of Monsters is underrated. I actually LOVE sea of monsters! It’s personally my favorite book out of the five from the original series. I have several reasons for why I love it but it mostly boils down to a large focus on character development. For starters, Clarisse went from a character I didn’t like in the first book to one of my favorite characters. I think she got a lot of character focus in this book and it really helped me understand her character better a build respect for her. I also love the development with Percbeth because I feel this was the book where we really got to see their relationship begin to blossom. And I love Tyson as well as his dynamic with Percy. I understand what you’re talking about how all the monsters they fight we already know have been defeated before but honestly that wasn’t a big problem for me because I never read stuff like the Odyssey before. And even if I had, the character dynamics in this book in particular were more than enough to keep me interested. So personally I think Sea of Monsters is the best book in the series (although that is just my opinion.)

I feel like Piper is a really underrated character, her charmspeak is pretty powerful. I wish Rick did more with her character tho, especially with her relationship with the rest of the 7.

Did you read trials of Apollo? If so you should know more about Will. If you havent read them, please do. It's very important with MAJOR events with many characters.

Magnus Chase is my fav series 100% and i dont think people hate it i think its just less people read it because its still relatively new compared to Percy Jackson and ofc Percy will always be more popular than Magnus (they are equally awesome in my eyes but i like Alex better than both of them)
Even Frank and Leo had a sad past, like they lost their moms. I didn't know much about Greek mythology so, I liked sea of monsters. I get your reasoning though. 😊

I think people like Annabeth more than Rachel because she’s been around for all of the books, while as Rachel is only in the last 3 of PJO.
I don’t think Percy would have lost to Jason. He was trained by Daedlues, (Who said he was good at fighting) He was also trained by Chiron who trained Hercules then by a dude who almost took over the world.
The rivalry between pjo and hp is really annoying when you are apart of both fandoms or you like both of the series around the same
i can’t see how anyone can call Luke a hero. like yes, he had a point, but he did awful things trying to achieve his goals.
I actually love Bianca di Angelo. Idk if that’s unpopular but I’ve heard people talk shit about her before (completely uncalled for)
The sad thing is that Bianca didn’t get enough screen time for anyone to love or hate her, and her people still do :(
@@saturn6563 I love what she did for her brother, and that she took responsibility for her choices and went inside the giant mechanical prototype. People give her a lot of hate for joining the hunters and leaving Nico, but they completely disregard that she is only twelve, and has had to take care of him her whole life (that she can remember anyway)! Also, she only joined once she was sure that Nico would be looked after by Percy at CHB

Actually, Luke did die a hero, the prophesy literally referred to him as the Hero.
Personally Annabeth and Percy are my favorite characters Percy is just and overall good guy to his friends, and anyone that he knows deserves it.
as much as I would like to have Aro or ace representation, it is never mentioned that Thalia is either of them. she did have a crush on Apollo, although it is possible she became Aro or Ace later. you dont necessarily have to be either of them to join the hunters in my opinion.
also, about the whole Perachel think wasnt it rachel who, in a way rejected percy before he could? since she believed that she was meant to be the oracle (pls correct me if I'm wrong, I read the book a couple months ago so I may not remember what exactly happened)

I do agree that Thalia didn’t really ever mention anything about her being aro/ace but she didn’t have a crush on Apollo, she just called him hot (which doesn’t necessarily mean that she didn’t have a crush on him, but I’m pretty sure it was meant to come off as a comment about his appearance, not his personality). Also, yes Rachel kinda did reject Percy, but it was pretty clear that Percy was going to choose Annabeth from the beginning (and in my opinion, even if Rachel hadn’t become the oracle). Just my opinion though I’m not tryna be rude:)

Ok I have my own little opinion. I think Hazel was the worst of the seven and I dont like her at all. Also, Jason was the best character in HoO, I don’t understand why nobody likes him, please explain that to me.
Another thing, Nico is not overrated. I love that he was the first LGBTQ+ character in Rick’s books. He is really really powerful, there is like no fighting about that. He jumped himself, Reyna, and Hedge around the world multiple times and managed to not die. He literally summons zombies and all this other dead stuff and can control it
Here is one of my thoughts i think that Sally ate blue food to not only stand up for Gabe but to also show respect to Poseidon Percy's dad
The only thing I really have a comment on is the "Hazel being as strong or stronger then percy" don't get me wrong I love hazels character and I think she is strong but not percy strong at least not yet hazel is still young and has room to grow before she reaches her full potential but at the moment in a 1v1 against Percy I don't see her winning.
As for the number of powers (confirmed powers not potential ones) Percy far outstrips Hazel in number of powers.
Hazel has geokinesis (Earth Control), control of precious metals, and mist form.
Percy has Hydrokinesis (Water Control), Limited Geokinesis (Earthquakes), Limited Atmokinesis (can create storms and hurricanes), can be healed and empowered by water, can breath underwater and survive crushing depths, doesn't get wet unless he wills it, can control ships and has perfect bearings at sea, can talk to horses and sea creatures, can telepathically speak to children of Poseidon if underwater (Tyson in book 2), can control poison, can control blood, can control underworld rivers (they are not water)
And those are just off the top of my head odds are I've forgotten some
I don't know if this is popular or not but I in my opinion I think Piper and Leo should have had a better friendship, they were friends from the beginning and Piper, Leo and Jason as friends were fake memories (I still think they could be friends, just not from fake memories). I also don't think Leo should be with Calypso because he needs to learn how to love himself before a girl, and I don't think Piper and Jason should be together, (No hate against Jason) because their whole relationship is based off of something fake and it shouldn't be. I also can't ship Theyna simply because that's not how the Hunters of Artemis pledge works. They're not lesbians, they are aro-ace and/or celibate. If they had relationships with one another, Artemis would be a bitch about it. She doesn't like any romance at all, as we come to learn from what she did to Jo and Emmy. If they weren't the Hunters of Artemis, then I'd understand, but between their lack of romantic attraction to anyone and their living situation, I can't ship them.
No, Octavian is not overhated. He is the absolute worst. He cares about no one but himself. He is arrogant, predjudiced, murderous, unreasonable, creepy, unlikable, and slaughters stuffed animals. I know it's more appropriate than live sacrifices, but he's been doing it so long that he probably does it for fun now. Completely untrustworthy. He deserved what he got.
Pipabeth is unnecessary because Piper does find a different girl in Trials of Apollo, so we already know that she's bi and has found someone who makes her happy, so that's all we need. I don't mind the fact that the new main trio of Jason, Piper, and Leo from The Lost Hero came up so big. It brought this new series full circle, and besides, everyone else in the 7 helped out in big ways that contributed to them even being ABLE to stop Gaea. Besides, the prophecy said "Seven half-bloods shall answer the call," which is a cryptic line that doesn't specify every single duty of every member of the 7. Besides, they did it so well, too.

Magnus Chase is my favorite character, his series is my favorite out of Rick Riordan's, I'm not a big fan of Alex Fierro, I like Rachel more than Annabeth, and Octavian is actually pretty interesting.
Will is badass and deserves a lot more pagetime without Nico. That's not unpopular, but yeah. Thalia was the worst character in The Titan's Curse, and Nico was good in every book. Calypso and Leo are both better single and should have just been friends. And like you said, self love.
Hazel and Frank's amount of time together before dating isn't too bad, since they spent an eternity together in Hazel's blackout. Mark of Athena's cover sucks. I actually love the Procrustes scene from The Lightning Thief.
The Valkyries are better than the Hunters and Amazons combined. I don't mind inaccurate portrayals of gods because Rick had the right to make them his own characters.

idk man i’ve always disliked Octavian. dude is just annoying and doesn’t have the same kind of development that Luke had. also i used to prefer HOO to PJO but that’s changed. i’m currently revisiting the series as an adult, and i think i’ve been able to appreciate PJO a whole lot more!
