    Thank you! This is the only thing I found about the yellow tool! I don't own any knitting machine, but I got that tool from somewhere, and now I finally found what it is for. Thank you!
    I hope I find someone who heeds this tool, because I do not have room for a complete knitting machine set... :D

      I'm glad I could help you identify the yellow tool by watching this video. If you're looking to find someone who could use the tool, you might want to consider creating a post in the Passap Facebook group. It's a wonderful community of knitting enthusiasts who might be interested in the tool and could give it a new home. Here's the link to the group: facebook.com/groups/779223535578115 . I hope this helps, and I'm sure someone will appreciate your gesture!

    Thanks so much for your videos. I haven't used my machine for 30 years but have kept it well packaged for when I retire. I lent it to a friend for awhile who promised to return it before she moved house. Not only did she move with my machine, she had borrowed another so moved house with 2 machines. I was scared i would be missing something critical. She has died and the other machine has been sold. I have just finished cleaning it and setting it up. Some things are different, so the machines certainly got mixed up. Hopefully it still works. I am excited, so watching your beginner movies is bringing back memories, thank you so much for them. I am missing the odd tool but can manage with what i have.

      I am sorry to hear about what happened to your friend, but it's great that you still have the desire to use this machine after so many years.
      Which tool is missing? If you are talking about the double-eye needle, it is one of the most frequently used tools, but you can find somewhere to buy another one.
      Happy knitting!

    Thank you! Great beginner video. I’m working my way through the manual and didn’t really understand what the pushers were for.

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  2 роки тому

      Hi Lena, I will explain you about the pushers.
      The pushers are used when you want to make different stitch patterns than plain knitting. The pushers combined with the different settings on the stitch selector dial tell the machine which needles to knit, which to tuck, and which to slip. If you check the small stitch pattern book, you will find plenty of diagrams with different pusher arrangements. It's a kind of automation. You set the pushers then move the lock to knit in the pattern.
      For example:
      When the lock is set to N/N - the machine will ignore the pushers. The N setting is only for plain knitting. When the lever is set to N the machine will ignore the stitch selector dial as well.
      If you set the lock to AX/AX, you have to raise pushers under the needles in working position. The needles with a pusher in working position will knit, and the other needles (these with a pusher in resting position) will tuck (they will catch the stitch into the hook, but won't knit it off).
      If you set the lock to BX/BX, the needles with a pusher in working position will knit, and the other needles (these with a pusher in resting position) will slip (they won't knit).
      CX/CX is for tubular knitting, the machine will ignore the pushers.
      DX/DX is for tubular tuck stitch (similar to AX)/AX, but tubular (when you move the lock to the left - the machine will knit only on the front bed, and when you move the lock to the right - the machine will knit only on the back bed). The needles with a pusher in working position will knit, and the needles with a pusher in resting position will tuck.
      EX/EX is for Fisherman's Rib, the machine will ignore the pushers.
      FX/FX is for selective Fisherman's Rib, you have to use pushers. (I still haven't used this setting.)
      GX/GX is a free pass of the lock, the machine won't knit.
      HX/HX is for tubular slip stitch, you have to use pushers. The machine will knit tubular, but only where there is a pusher in working position.
      When you arrange the pushers, you may need to press one or both arrow keys on the lock (depending on the pattern). The arrow keys will tell the machine in which direction to knit, tuck, or slip. Also when there is an arrow pressed it will change the position of the pushers (working/resting), when you knit (in the direction of the arrow).

    Great introduction. I've got exactly the same machine and worked my way through the manual. Your video is a much quicker way to learn. My compliments. Now I'm going to explore the color changer (is this how it's called?), this doesn't work smoothly on my machine.

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  Рік тому

      I don't have such a video because I have never run into this problem. In case of a jam, set the lock to GX, and carefully remove the strippers and the yarn eyelet (if possible). Also, make sure the arrow keys are disengaged. Then try to move the lock. If the lock is stuck without yarn I don't know what to do. Maybe make a short video and ask in the Passap Facebook group. There are people with more experience there.

      Do you mean slip rows, and knitting short rows?
      If so, this is the video of what the pushers do: ua-cam.com/video/LP_p1D_2Q1Q/v-deo.html
      To put some needles in hold, you must set the lock to BX and put pushers for the needles that will knit in working position, and pushers in resting position for the needles in hold.
      This is a video for knitting a doily, so you can see how the short rows are done: ua-cam.com/video/fyz6iX_INwY/v-deo.html

    Hii, I'm trying to knit tricot stich single bed, but this is not working. (Yarn gets on the needles but not pulled through the previous stich). I can't find this issue being addressed anywhere.

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  Рік тому

      There may be many reasons for that. Your yarn may not be suitable, your stitch size may be not set correctly, check if the black strippers are inserted, you need to tap on the feet of the needles after knitting the first few rows to tighten the yarn in the needles, also make sure you are not moving the lock too fast.

    Hi, can we knit partial knit on a single bed with this machine ? please !

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can.
      You need to set the back lock to GX (Free pass), so it won't knit. Then you have to raise pushers on the front bed and set the front lock to BX. The front lock will knit only where there is a pusher in working position and will slip where there are pushers in resting or out of working position.
      I have several videos on the channel where I am short rowing only on the front bed.
      For example, you can see this video, where I am knitting a single bed beret hat: ua-cam.com/video/BDStnOEqXC8/v-deo.html , or some video of the doilies, that are uploaded on the channel.

    Hi there again, my friend...I want to get good at short-rowing on the Passap, even if it kills me, it just might. When shortrowing on the Passap, should I always move the edge springs to the new position, as I short-row in and out? Should I put the edge spring on the needle after the wrapped needle or on the wrapped needle? I think on the needle after the wrapped needle, is that right?

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, hello! 👋
      I need to do more research to be able to answer this question correctly.
      I knitted a pair of wrist warmers, and when I did the increases, I moved the edge springs every time, but in the video, when I did the decreases in the toe section of the socks, I knitted without using the edge springs. (Also, for the heel section, I did not move the edge springs. ) Maybe there will be no problem if there are weights attached to the knitting. So at the moment, I am not sure. It would be best if you could do a test with the yarn you use.

    • @knit1924
      @knit1924 2 роки тому

      hi again, thank you for the advice. I tried every which way, I know that without the edge springs, I get a "loop over" and the needle next to the one that is wrapped, doesn't knit. Someone in the Facebook group suggested this method: "Take a length of contrast yarn and starting on the needle next to the needles to be kept in work, knit each needle to be held with the contrast yarn and take them down out of work. Each needle will have a long loop on it. You must make sure that they are right down in the out of work position. You must work on the opposite side to where the main yarn is attached.
      No pushers needed under the knitting needles unless they are needed for the pattern.
      Knit carefully watching that the non-knitting needles stay in the out of work position." In your opinion, is this method too much trouble? How do I work with those needles that are in waste yarn? I am new at this, so forgive me...

    • @ArtOfClay
      @ArtOfClay  2 роки тому

      I've read it several times, but I can't imagine what this method looks like. Maybe, after removing the knitting from the machine, you need to finish/sew the stitches from the needles on the waste yarn by hand. I have no idea... I don't have enough experience to help, I'm also a beginner. If I find something that can help, I will let you know. What are you knitting?

    • @knit1924
      @knit1924 2 роки тому

      @@ArtOfClay hi, when I don't use the edge springs, the yarn skips over and makes a loop, so I think I have it right now, to avoid the loop, I put the edge spring on the needle that come after the wrapped needle. So nice talking to you.
