it's crazy people acting like these boss fights aren't just insane. i get it you have to explore to get the buffs but some of these bosses are literally just shitty...
Aside from the last boss, they are all fair. As an example, people like to complain about Messmer but all of his attacks are dodgeable with even average reaction speed and he leaves himself open enough that I can attack him with my slow colossal sword.

Only jackasses who want to sound like they are above other people over a damn video game claim "OH it's a perfect game, its easy, I beat it in 5 hours, I had a blind fold on and I was using a DDR pad on a Old Box TV, I"m SOOO good at this game, I am soo proud of myself. Because I am good at a video game I am automatically the highest on the food chain, the peek of human potential even higher than Captain America." (these people are like 39+ years old, bragging like they are in elementary school and it had some value) If you are a grown ass adult bragging about beating DLC of a 2 year old game... damn I feel bad for you... well not really.

Many players feel that this DLC lacks depth and substance, making it a disappointment compared to the base game's expansive and immersive world. The encounter design often relies on cheap tactics, like placing enemies in unexpected spots solely to frustrate players. This approach feels less like a challenge and more like a gimmick.
Furthermore, the DLC's item and enemy scaling are inconsistent, making the experience confusing and unbalanced. High-level players face trivial challenges while encountering outdated items that serve no purpose at their level ( Smithing stones ) .
The story progression in the DLC is underwhelming. After extensive buildup around Miquella, the player finally encounters him only to be forced into a fight with little explanation or narrative payoff. This abrupt encounter, coupled with the lack of significant choices or consequences, reduces what could have been a profound moment into a mere checkbox on the player’s to-do list.
The ending of the DLC offers no closure or reward, leaving many players feeling as though their time and effort were wasted. Unlike other FromSoftware games, where DLCs add depth and conclude the story meaningfully, Shadow of the Erdtree leaves players with a sense of anticlimax. There is no significant change to the game world or a deeper understanding of its lore-just an 8-hour extension of the base game's grinding and combat.
In summary, Shadow of the Erdtree fails to meet the high expectations set by Elden Ring. The DLC’s plot feels disconnected and superficial, lacking the intricate and rewarding narrative elements that made the base game so compelling. The final boss fight and the handling of Miquella’s story are particularly disappointing, undermining what could have been a significant expansion of the game’s world and lore.

I at first thought Radhan was dumb, and it Should've been Godwyn, but some lore people made a damn good story about it and I really like it now. So idk, it was still fun. They Should've given us bell bearings for ancient stones, that way we could level up all our new weapons to max without tons of grinding.

i don't think the dlc is 10/10 fantastic. the boss fights are not well balanced. dps is overtuned. some spells on certain stairways are designed to drive you crazy. enemies have infinite poise, even if you hit almost all their life out of them. they just look at you and you are animation locked. except for the combat, everything is a straight 10/10. but the combat is the most important aspect.
The rest is not 10/10. The map sucks after the first two areas half of it is just empty space. Like tf is the abyssal woods or jagged peak
@@user-bg1ls5cd1h honestly, i think that the map is an 8 to 9. though i don't put as much weight into it. i think it is negligible. but also i think a dlc closer to a dark souls like structured level design would have done a better job at a lot of things.

@@xxdemestrosxx As someone that hasn’t even played any other Souls titles, I’m not even trying to argue whether they are going backward or forward. I’m criticizing Elden Ring as a standalone title, in a niche subgenre ,that was brand new to me. The loot gripe is objective, as players have to beat most of the game to even access the DLC, most of the player base uses guides to get all of the smithing stone and glovewart bell bearings and the majority of players that even played the DLC were probably already lvl 200+. The majority of loot is objectively awful, regardless of how you or I personally feel about it, because it is completely obsolete at that point in the game.
We got a challenging game, for sure, but a lot of that challenge is artificial and half-baked. As a gamer that’s played tons of Openworld RPG’s (as that is my favorite genre), Elden Ring really does some stuff badly. I agree, we should be critical of Elden Ring and stop glazing it, just for clout, or emotional reasons.

Shadow doesn’t take place in the past or future. Miyazaki said in an interview himself that it takes place in the same timeline as the base game.

I realized that the only people praising the game are the ones who beat it in less than 2 days of release. Still think it's pretty hard since everyone forgot how to play after 2 years, but I will listen to all this people that beat it and keep trying the first 2 bosses till I can finally advance, dont wanna let my money go to waste
People are rushing through the main story of the DLC. I've found that doing all the NPC quest is where the DLC really shines. So much more exploring and cool map designs are found that way.

Honestly I could tell from the fact that the world is still ruined that it's not in the past....but even if it was it wouldn't be out of character for a souls game that the worlds are forever ruined no matter the time period

I’ve played new game plus 70 times and then another 90 times just in case. I did that on the Xbox 1, PS4, PS5, Xbox series X and S. Individually, Then I made 6 alternate accounts to repeat the process.

The amount of one-shots just isn’t for me, feels very forced difficulty wise. I’m on a higher NG+ so I already expected high damage, but when every enemy one shots me it gets tiring, the blessing also doesn’t affect my character at all.

Tons of UA-camrs got the DLC weeks ahead of launch. Plus, the “main story” portions of the DLC only take like 20 hours or so to complete. The KindaFunny crew have almost completed the main section of the DLC in just 2 long streams. It aint all that brother.

I think you're smoking crack if you think From Software was trying to not make this frustrating. This is more frustrating than anything they've ever developed before. Gaius and the final boss Consort Radahn are some of the shittiest, worst designed bosses they've ever designed. They are definitely going to nerf these bosses. They are horrendous.
Also, the end boss itself was just incredibly disappointing even outside of it being a shitty boss fight. The lore/story had all this setup and then it was just Radahn. Incredibly boring. A twist no one asked for or wanted.

Dlc was not disappointing really at all. The frustration only came if you tried to do it all without collecting or trying to innovate.
As for Radahn, you could’ve learned about him if you did any amount of side quest material in the shadow keep, they literally explain the plot there.
I mean, I’m sure a new person playing elden ring would be surprised going against any boss without going through side quest material.

I'm on NG+ plus Level 212 and it took me and my wife all weekend to beat the Blackgaol Knight, carian knight, the Dancing Lion and Rellana
And was it fun?
Only thing I didn't like were the bosses, they felt far to overtuned even with taking advantage of the Scadurtree fragment system. beyond that I liked it but the bosses definitely were a low point, nice ideas but terribly executed and I got tired quickly of bosses actual one shot kill grabs and combos. Everything else was amazing but god these bosses need toned down significantly to be enjoyable like 30K plus HP shouldn't be a standard boss, like 15K at most is good and final boss should be 20-25K HP

I just beat it and I teully wish I waited till seemless or months of balance patches came out because my first playthrough of it left me even more sour than elden beast. It just was not fun to play no matter what way I played it, cheese build, ailment build, magics builds. Going to the Reddit for advice to be met with the same brain dead “Get gud” doesn’t help either it’s like fromsoft is so stuck in this masochistic gameplay loop that honestly I didn’t set up for. I had way more fun playing bloodborne level 1…why because even still I had a chance to have fun by overcoming meaning full and realistic lot difficult fights.
The one thing i absolutely disagree with is its 10x more vetical than the main game, its the exact same verticality of the maingame haha. Ive played through the dlc twice and the main game around 15 times there is no difference with verticality. Has everyone just forgotten stuff like the elavator in the woods that takes you down a 2 minute ride to the depths of the earth? The big tower in caelid where its like a 5 minute parkour course downwards. The whole maliketh area is loads of jumping and height. The whole area around the lucaria academy, its a low down lake area but with two massive cliffs around it that are way higher up. Caves everywhere to go underground, like the dlc doesnt even have the underground map that the main game has where you can press a button to show the miles of underground areas.
The dlc very vertical but its nothing new.
I agree with the majority of your other points though the dlc is decent and i love the new weapon types, i just wish there were more its so sad that the new weapons only have like 2-3 of each with some only having 1. it felt more like they were testing new weapon types rather than adding new types.
i'm confused. You say there are only like a handful of dungeons. Then you say there are many. And then you also refer back to original elden ring having a countable amount when from what I've seen and heard there are hidden dungeons all over the world. Some with meaningless treasure and some with worthwhile treasure.

Just got Elden Ring and this DLC on PC laptop. Playing it at 720p high texture setting and 35-55 fps. Surprisingly playable and my first From game.
Hardware issue or they need to patch the game for pc?

Did you finish the DLC? Personally, I feel like the DLC is way too difficult for players who don't min-max everything. Don't get me wrong the content is gorgeous, but it seems like they overcooked with difficulty and how much space there is compared to rewarding the player.

This DLC was basically a Boss Fighting Simulator with a lazy writing. Studio could've came up with a whole new story line like The Witcher did with Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine but they decided to recycle the main story. Pretty disappointed

A little late but the developers of Elden Ring clearly stated that the leveling is separate in the realm of shadows as to the lands between, the levels you’ve accumulated in the lands between bought with the rune fragments of the Elden Ring have no significance in the Realm of Shadows. In other words the Scadutree fragments and Ashes you can pick up to upgrade yourself are necessary, most definitely necessary
Okay so the game is hard yes but I hate how the dlc kinda forces summons unless you wanna be on the same boss for 4hours plus, with bosses like messmur it's hard and really spammy first phase gives almost no relief to attacks and he just doesn't let you heal in some points. I like the dlc I prefer the base game because so far all the bosses seen to just spam and if you struggle it's either continue for hours or summon and make it too easy there's not really a good middle ground

Did you preorder? This might be a dumb question, but are you sure it is installed? I was having the same problem, and I ended up having to go to the product page and manually installing the dlc before restarting my PS5.

I've been thinking for a LONG TIME now how unfathomably AWESOME it would be if Hidetaka Myazaki and From Software made an actual BERSERK game - where you play all the arcs so far...man, I bet this would be just SO FRICKIN GREAT!!! And it would definitely draw more people towards the best Manga EVER, which sadly only got pretty mediocre or even horrible Anime adaptations - except for the 90's Golden Age Arc series perhaps....and a game could present this greatest of all japanese stories in an interactive, heartwrenching way...man, that'd be SO GREAT!!!!😭😭😭

The bad. If you started a ng+ like I did and quit then you have to do all that over just to get to the dlc
Just did this, it isn’t too bad the second time around, took me about 3 days “speedrunning” it
If you know where to go you can get these done in about 2 hours 😊
You can get to Mohg in a few hours in ng+ if you do the NPC quest at the start of the game. ✌️

To me he is correct. The map vaguely points you to what you are to do, along with the NPCs at the vestige. You review the map it has like 3 of those points or whatever they are called. When I looked at it, my first thought was wtf am I going to do with this. It vaguely points me to the right direction. Then I just proceeded to look at the larger map and walk to a point of interest. He is correct in that statement.
DLC has made me wary of future From Software projects. Its not an enjoyable experience for me. I'm tired of the anime moves, tired of the non stop spamming attacks that make stamina useles. This DLC has way to much spin tonwin bosses. I honestly feel like From Software wants to put bloodborne and sekiro into Souls style game play and forget the player can't perform the same movement that your character can in bloodeborne or sekiro. I'll struggle bus through so I didn't waste my $40 but I don't see myself coming back.

I have elden ring as disk on ps5 , i update the game and purchase premium bundle and download it , but the game doesn't recognize the shadow of the erdtree , above the game patch number there is no dlc trade mark , i delete the game completely and reinstall it , download the dlc again , but nothing happend. I even restore my licensees completely 2 or 3 times. Pleaaaase help me , what should i do?
You need to defeat Radahn and Mohg Lord of Blood in the main game in order to have access to the DLC dude

I'm sitting around 125 to 150. This was the first souls game I've completed. It took that long. Also multiple playthroughs.

I spent 90+ hours beating the game the first time. Then it took me about 4 hours to beat new game+, then 3-4 the next time to see a few endings. Once you know exactly what to do and where to go it's kinda a cake walk. Especially if you're overpowered

@@ArielCleirighmy second and third playthroughs were easy. Especially if you're just hitting the points that move the story along with a New+ character. You just annihilate everything lol.
I've beated it even more times ( if I remember well like 12-13) but after the first one I've basically done always a sort of boss rush and you can make it very fast
