YT Music wins, specially for people who has diverse music taste and likes to listen to vast genre of music. Many of those songs are not available in other platforms. I tried Apple Music, Tidal and Spotify but none could compete with UA-cam music. UA-cam and YT Music has this amazing AI algorithm, their suggestions are just unbeatable.
perfectly put. i have an iphone and airpods tried apple music 3-4 time's the library, ui and ai in yt music beats it every time and i can't tell difference in quality
yt music is actually trying to implement quantity over quality, but if you have good gears, like a hi-res earphones, using the YT music would be a waste of good gears
@@prisonmike2616... thats because airpods dont support high resolution streaming, which tidal, apple music, qobuz support, but not yt music. so if you use iPhones or Airpods, yeah, im sure you wouldnt tell the difference, since its not that big

Actually there is one main reason that why I use YT Music is UA-cam Premium subscription. When you purchase UA-cam Premium (which I like a lot) it comes with a music service UA-cam Music so it will not be economical for me to ignore YT Music and buy a seperate music service (with similar price like Spotify, which only does one job.) Plus I am a student so I pay a little less. When I first started to use YTM to be honest I didn't like very much but later I got used to and now I'm familiar with it.
Exactly why I chose YT Music. I have YT Premium and I love the ad-free video experience and what YT music offers is sufficient for me. Sure Apple Music is so much more mature and feature rich, but that's not nearly enough to justify ignoring such a huge part of YT Premium.
Getting Apple Music free for 6 months with the AirPods Pro was my way gateway to ad-free streaming, and it was worth it for the most part. My individual use case, though, was just to listen to albums that I hadn't bought as CDs or digital downloads in CD quality, so I can't say that I took full advantage of the discoverability, the hi-res lossless, and the Dolby Atmos features (which I still think is a gimmick). How I really ended up using it was for friends to take control and just play whatever they wanted on it, especially when I'm driving them around. UA-cam Premium and UA-cam Music, however, is a better deal for me. I wasn't expecting the user experience of UA-cam Music to be better than Apple Music - I still don't think it is - but being able to play "Spaghetti Again" by Tim and Eric and 30 minutes of the Yakuza 0 substory guitar riff in the car certainly made up for it. No complaints from my friends either while I drive them around. That being said, nowadays if I wanted to listen to my own music, I'll use VLC to listen to the music I bought - including some that aren't available on streaming services. Track availability in streaming services in general is something that I'm a bit iffy about, because streaming services can pull down tracks on a whim; one year it's there, the next it isn't, and then it's back for only one month before it's gone for good. At least there's some level of permanence with digital downloads and CDs. TL;DR Apple Music has better UX. YT Music is a better deal and can play meme music. I still prefer CDs because of better track permanence.
The fact that I can listen to anime and video game OSTs, along with live performances from my favorite artists, is what makes UA-cam Music the one for me.
I started with Google Play Music and YTM's interface took a bit to get used to, but it keeps getting better and better. He mentioned adding your own CDs to the Apple Music library as an advantage, but you can also upload your CD into YTM... it might not be quite as seamless as using iTunes, but is still an option. Music quality isn't a huge concern for me and I'm sure YTM will get there eventually, just as video has progressed from SD->HD->4K->8K. On the playlist side, I wish there was a way to change the order of songs like there used to be with the old Google Play Music interface and the shuffle algorithm seems to always play the same songs and sometimes in the same order.
I just want you to know that I absolutely enjoy your content, the way you describe your experiences with various products or services has been a huge help in deciding whether or not to invest into those things, keep up the good work!:)
I don't mind Apple Music as a service and use it primarily, but the app is just so frustrating on both Mac and iOS. On the Mac, on so many occasions when pausing an album or playlist to grab something from another room, I come back to find that the app has kicked me out of whatever I was listening to. This can actually even happen just stopping something I was listening to and navigating away from the Apple Music app for a while. If it's an album, for example, it may not even be open anymore and I'll have to go back into the album and then have to select or (worse) figure out whatever song was last playing. In iOS, that history/upcoming screen of songs you've listened to that appears even if you selected and were listening to an album just seems so pointless, and it forces you to swipe it away and navigate back to the album if that's what you'd really rather see. I also can't count the number of times I've downloaded an album to listen to offline, especially while traveling, only to find that some or all of the downloads disappear whenever I lose an Internet connection. It's pretty annoying that an app that's been around for as long as it has is such a mess.
I have tried both. Apple Music for the superior sound. UA-cam Music for everything else, especially discovery. Every time I traveled through 'samples', I was saving the music recommended as it was exactly what I wanted. I was incredulous. Far-superior.
I determined about a year and a half ago that UA-cam music was for me. Before that I was paying for UA-cam premium and Apple Music but then I was like “wait UA-cam music exists” and I haven’t gone back since. So many of the songs on my playlist are remixes of the original songs that aren’t on other platforms and that’s the second thing that sold me the first being it’s apart of UA-cam premium. I love UA-cam music and unless they separate UA-cam premium and UA-cam music I’ll never go back to Apple Music.
I am currently using both UA-cam Music and Apple Music, and from my experience, while UA-cam Music's discovery algorithm is much better than Apple's, I simply love the UI of Apple Music - especially the smooth lyrics animation/Apple Music Sing and the dynamic album covers - and its superior audio quality in the form of Dolby Atmos. Thus, Apple Music is still a little bit superior to me, but UA-cam Music is also a great option considering that as a student, you even get UA-cam Premium AND UA-cam Music for just 5.49$.
I can’t believe people actually pick YT music over literally anything that’s originally made for music. I’ve heard the quality difference and it’s a very big difference if you are a hardcore music listener.
Just an FYI, majority of you folks will not notice a difference in audio quality unless you're using extremely new high end headphones or if your car supports better codecs.
I have several 3 high end audio systems without a high quality external dac and I cannot hear a difference. When I do hear music with a good dac, the difference is nominal to me so its hard to justify the price of an external dac. I love YTM. Nonetheless, it would be nice to offer hi rez to stay competitive…however, Spotify has yet to do it either.
if yt music can give us shareplay, and higher music quality and equalizer that will be a complete music app IMO, i've been using it since 4 years and it has only gotten better. the offline mixtape is the best thing, the music library is just unmatched and i can download even the live shows music rather than the original. Apple music Audio quality doesn't matter if the songs aren't even there. If i like a video song on youtube it auto adds it into liked playlist on yt music and then i auto adds that to offline mixtape , nothing matches this advantage.
Totally agree with you! UA-cam’s algorithm is much better, but quality is worse. I also don’t like when UA-cam delete a song and after that you don’t know what song was it 😅
It's actually fun fact. If you have that song saved in a library and or downloaded when you go to that playlist, you'll see it grayed out so you can still search it up if somebody else has uploaded it

Mentioned in the end that you can buy youtube premium and you'll get both. Also if you get yt premium family plan it's extremely cheap compared to any other platform
Well it’s 10.99 for UA-cam Music, Apple Music, and Spotify. But for 2 bucks more at 12.99 you can get UA-cam premium on top of UA-cam music. The extra 2 dollars for UA-cam premium is a killer deal. Especially if you watch a lot of UA-cam on phones/tablets. The amount of niche, unofficially remixes, and underground music are unmatched on UA-cam music. Edit: UA-cam music is great for some unofficial songs as well, and there have been times music has been removed from all streaming services due to copyright, buts it’s still been on UA-cam music because the song was uploaded to UA-cam eg. The Spiteful Chant by Kendrick lamar
Apple Music seems to be a vestigial part of Apple's empire anymore. They rarely even talk about it at all and most of us have moved on to other services.
nice comparison, I actually have the 2 of them I got YT Music in a family plan and my brother got Apple music as well in a family plan. It's more or less like you said, if I really want to lay in bed and only hear high quality music I use apple music (I Imported my playlists) but to be honest I end up using UA-cam Music most of the time, the algorithm is really good in finding music that you might like so much that most of the time I use auto generated playlists; not only that, if you are into that stuff the track selection is insanely big thanks to youtube , here's an example, I love Oasis, I got vinyl's and records, you name it, I have got in my TYM library full live concerts, live presentations, remixes, Demo songs, unreleased songs, alternative version of songs that were never released officially and therefore are not in any other music streaming service, for that reason alone I end up using YTM more. Say, for example, the other day I found a girl covering one song that I really like from Oasis with superb quality, I have the ability to add that track to my playlist. As for the inconvenience of liking and subscribing at the same time, what I did from the very beggining was having 2 different youtube accounts, 1 is for YTM, and the other one is regular youtube, and there, problem solved, I can switch from and to those accounts inside the very same account and it doesn't take a family member sopot.
Apples sound isn't better. At the bitrate of YTMs AAC it's transparent, which means that it's indistinguishable from any lossless audio. Needless to say that even if there was an audible difference noone with a below 2000$ grade electrostatic headphone would be able to hear it.
John…I recently tested Qobuz vs. YTM on my 3 high end systems without an external dac and could not hear a difference so I cancelled it. Another friend told me I either needed a high end dac or cans. No thanks. I think it all boils down to the quality of the file, of which there is great variability out there. Listening to a play list in shuffle mode as I do for variety makes it very clear. I wonder if YTM will ever offed hi rez files just to stay competitive, albeit a placebo effect for the most part?
I love UA-cam Music. The audio quality is barely noticable with earphones that allow you to change the EQ. I use iTunes to purchase music every now and again. Ever since I got onto UA-cam Music over AM I never manually created a playlist for myself. The recommendations YTM provides is superb and the Offline Mixtape has saved my life on plane rides, car trips, etc. It's strange bc there is some music I bought on iTunes several years back that I cannot find anywhere else, so I like to use the Music App on my iPhone for older songs I cant seem to find anywhere else, and YTM is my daily driver for fresh, new ways to explore and discover music.

Instead of three pairwise comparisons, much prefer one 3-way battle for less information redundancy, and viewers don't have to choose which two to compare.
I use both, one big problem I'm having with Spotify is uploading music from my local files, some tracks can't play, or missing album art, or the album art is not displaying properly.
Very informative video I just bought a pair of Apple AirPods headphones and was curious if the sound quality would be better on Apple Music. Honestly I feel the music quality of UA-cam Music is better but that’s just my opinion.
After having used iTunes/Apple Music for almost 10 years, I just quit today. Reasons: the UI of Apple Music sucks big time. The App on the desktop is always slow. Somehow it feels that you have to press the keys stronger to make it work jajaja. Also every time that they do an update, my collections gets all messed up (because for some years I used iTunes buying stuff, still some tracks appear as separate albums (from the same album) out of nowhere) and getting them together is super annoying. The fact that you have access to the YT videos is game changer, not only for music but also 10 hour versions of X thing to go to sleep, all old vinyl electronic music, drum solos etc. Today I did the transfer and from thousands of Apple Music albums there are only a few things I didn't find (and I will upload them myself). But YTM has more on average and if it's not there, it's uploaded as video+tracklist. Quality is the same, forget about formats. Go do blind tests with (not yet deaf) musicians/technicians and have fun.
I have both but biggest drawback of apple music is it never playes related songs after stopping a song and another is when you play 1 song from album which have only one song it stops playing so I have to open the app and play another song
I completely agree about how good UA-cam Music is at figuring out music you’d like. It’s almost creepy. But while I use Apple Music most of the time, the Apple Music Interface I feel is anything but slick.
Comparing an “Apple” to an ORANGE! UA-cam goes beyond and brings the artist directly to you with podcasts, live recordings, covers, shows…all essential to getting to know the artists and listening to them in natural environments…worth the money!❤
I have both apps and I like both on UA-cam music you can find music that Apple Music doesn’t have and for Apple Music they have a wider variety of music
Not just you at all. I came over to Apple Music from Spotify due to price at first. Then I really started to appreciate Apple's cleaner interface. I tried UA-cam Music with a free trial. It annoyed me in the same way as Spotify does in terms of clutter and it not having a clean intuitive interface either.
I been debating on paying for either youtube premium or apple music. I have a andriod phone, does it matter? I heard apple music has better sound quality then UA-cam. I'm trying to jus get the best quality coming through my speakers and subwoofers
Surprised you didn't mention Apple's Discovery Station through Apple Music. Newer "station," and I've gotta say that 95% of the time, I find music that I love. It's great for content discovery, but I do wish I could go back and see what I listened to in the past on it (especially if I listen when driving).
YT music wins just because of music track availability. There are millions of songs that are just on youtube and cannot be found on other music services. That's the point. If I cannot find songs I like anywhere else, what would I use anywhere else than YT music?
Same here. I keep getting tempted to drop Spotify Family in favour of Apple One to consolidate a few Apple things plus get more. The spatial audio on AirPods Pro is nice too even if not essential. I’ve had a few trials of Apple Music over time but never made the switch. I hate how the platforms hold your playlists to ransom, no way to export that data as far as I know.

My problem is even though I have a free trial to Apple Music I always end up opening Spotify and ignoring Apple Music during the trial and then cancel just before I’m charged
I disagree but agree with you because you can do your library search. It would just be in the normal search. You would just have to swipe over to your library and it would filter and show you if it's in your library. In terms of offline, I kind of agree with you for the albums. However, again, if you're offline, it does show up in search
Does Apple Music have the feature “Radio”? Where you play a song hit radio and it plays music similar to it. Also I can find rare not release music on UA-cam music that isn’t on Apple Music.
I really love using YT Music because I cannot live without UA-cam Premium because of the ads in my videos, and YT music is already in the package. But I am struggling to download songs in it because it takes longer to download and sometimes get stuck in download status (I am using an iPhone), does anyone have any workaround on this? That's my main concern with it solely but other than that, everything is great. Downloading on Spotify or AM doesn't seem to have any problem and is downloading very quickly. Sound quality is definitely better on AM and Apple Music Sing is one of their best features also. But I can live with YT Music because I don't notice much difference when I'm playing it on my car or speaker, maybe noticeable on headphones but not much. The downloading is just a bit annoying on my end on YT Music.
UA-cam Ads have been pissing me off so much that I finally gave in and signed up to premium, I also have Apple Music but can't justify paying for both so unfortunately it's bye bye Apple Music, I do love the Apple Music UI though and sound quality but not sure I'll notice the drop in quality too much. With UA-cam music: i can leave comments, have customized way of listening to music. With Apple music: higher quality music, exclusive Apple music content and both services are great.

Hey Josh, so I subscribe to both but gravitate to Apple Music after using UA-cam Music for a long time due to having Galaxy Buds/Buds2 Pro and Air Pods Pro so I can take advantage of Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio when listening on my phone or Galaxy Book laptop (side note: did you know that the Apple Music Windows 11 App only supports AirPlay (and probably the only time you’ll see it on Windows) but not Chromecast or Miracast). I also like that I can still purchase music from an artist that I follow closely since he recently went back to being independent and have better control over my library by having access to the files (even the songs from Apple Music if you dig through windows file explorer). If Google can get higher quality audio and the native desktop uploader app that they had during the Google Play Music days (because I hate Google insistence of making everyone dependent on their browser) I might switch back. ~BMcK
The fact that Apple Music does not have a like/dislike button directly on the face of all players on all devices (mac, watch etc) astounds me. Why do they need to hide making a song a favorite behind a sub menu. UA-cam has it everywhere. Thumbs up and down everywhere the same way. The sound quality difference is there for those who know that they are looking for. Most would fail a blind comparison test. YT algorithms and auto playlists are excellent. YT music works well on all Apple devices and has not left me wanting. Also works on windows which is bonus for us techie folks who use both. I only tried it because I got premier. I wish there was a tier without music and arcade. They got you no matter what.
I've been using Apple Music and enjoying it. But now I've paying for UA-cam premium, it just doesn't make sense to keep Apple Music. I've started building my own music library and paying £4.50 a month for Vox Player. Streaming and downloading flax files 👌
My only complaint about YTM is it's shuffle algorithm. I have long playlists and it seems to always play the same songs. Sometimes it even starts repeating after like 20 songs. Nice comparison.
I listen both of them on my iPhone 15 Plus with EarPods. I prefer UA-cam Music sound quality. It's more clear in the same volume level and more vibrant in every range for the same track. But I love Apple Music interface beautiful and easy to use.
While Apple does have a large "classical" (meaning _serious_ ) music collection, and one can buy for download, I find I use UA-cam Music because UA-cam has such a large selection of performances of esoteric and rare music. It can't be beat for that.
Summary: (For algorithmic music recommendations, UA-cam Music is preferable.) (For higher quality, Dolby Atmos support, and better library management, Apple Music is superior.)
Atmos is extremely overrated at least with airpods pro 2. Might be different with airpods max or other headphones. With earbuds , it is a total gimmick imo
Didn't knew about the Elton John station. That's huge, the guy is an Everest of music knowledge. But I still will stay with YT Music because the alternative music versions are superior to any other service. About this, as you ask for us to tell, I like a VERY old band (Witness Inc) and I only find it though "music videos" on UA-cam
Apple music for Sound Quality and ease of use when using Siri. UA-cam Music for AI algorithm - they always know which song to recommend to you, like 7 out of 10 songs you will be familiar to.
Splitting Apple One Premier with 5 friends, paying ~£6 and getting Music, Arcade, News, Fitness, TV and more is always worth much more for your money than getting UA-cam premium for music and Ad-less content
While I have UA-cam Premium with UA-cam Music, I still use Apple Music for one big reason - the ability sort albums in my library by artist. You cannot do this in UA-cam Music. It only sorts albums by album name without the ability to sort by artist name.
Apple product equates to dig deeper beyond the app's initial co$t (pun intended) no matter what. Movies, music, plastic gadgetry. UA-cam at least gives tutorials on just about everything aside from the audio only to plenty of awesome music videos. Take Tom Petty for one example. Nuff said.
I keep reading how Apple Music and Spotify have better sound quality then youtube music, can anyone actually hear a difference? I started out with Spotify for years and loved it but I started paying for youtube premium and obviously tried youtube music, its the closest thing to spotify and in some areas better. When I'm at home, 95% of the time I am watching youtube so I feel like premium is the only service I get my moneys worth with the combo of youtube and youtube music. I'm an iphone user but for some reason I never enjoyed using apple music. I am curious what others think?
Thought I’d miss YT premium after I tried Apple Music for a trial run … but nope. Apple Music is really good. Surprisingly I don’t miss YT music or the premium part of it either. Unless I go back to Android, I’m staying with Apple Music.
just got rid of Apple Music due to being poor at suggesting music no matter how many times I dislike a track apple will carry on playing it - the playlists are rubbish the ui is rubbish what's the point of the browser page its full of hip hop its ok if you like that but not for me so I never looked at the browser page - the radio stations are rubbish - have subscribed to you tube music its the best it knows what I like it has a great radio tool where you pick the artist and the mood ie chill, upbeat and so on - great videos which can't be found on Apple Music - remixes which can't be found on Apple Music - YT music is way better than Apple Music - also the sound quality is good for me its the same as Apple Music at 256kbps which is the same as Apple Music non lossless.

I wasn't expecting the user experience of UA-cam Music to be better than Apple Music - I still don't think it is - but being able to play "Spaghetti Again" by Tim and Eric and 30 minutes of the Yakuza 0 substory guitar riff in the car certainly made up for it. No complaints from my friends either while I drive them around.
That being said, nowadays if I wanted to listen to my own music, I'll use VLC to listen to the music I bought - including some that aren't available on streaming services. Track availability in streaming services in general is something that I'm a bit iffy about, because streaming services can pull down tracks on a whim; one year it's there, the next it isn't, and then it's back for only one month before it's gone for good. At least there's some level of permanence with digital downloads and CDs.
TL;DR Apple Music has better UX. YT Music is a better deal and can play meme music. I still prefer CDs because of better track permanence.

The fact that I can listen to anime and video game OSTs, along with live performances from my favorite artists, is what makes UA-cam Music the one for me.
I started with Google Play Music and YTM's interface took a bit to get used to, but it keeps getting better and better. He mentioned adding your own CDs to the Apple Music library as an advantage, but you can also upload your CD into YTM... it might not be quite as seamless as using iTunes, but is still an option. Music quality isn't a huge concern for me and I'm sure YTM will get there eventually, just as video has progressed from SD->HD->4K->8K. On the playlist side, I wish there was a way to change the order of songs like there used to be with the old Google Play Music interface and the shuffle algorithm seems to always play the same songs and sometimes in the same order.

I don't mind Apple Music as a service and use it primarily, but the app is just so frustrating on both Mac and iOS. On the Mac, on so many occasions when pausing an album or playlist to grab something from another room, I come back to find that the app has kicked me out of whatever I was listening to. This can actually even happen just stopping something I was listening to and navigating away from the Apple Music app for a while. If it's an album, for example, it may not even be open anymore and I'll have to go back into the album and then have to select or (worse) figure out whatever song was last playing.
In iOS, that history/upcoming screen of songs you've listened to that appears even if you selected and were listening to an album just seems so pointless, and it forces you to swipe it away and navigate back to the album if that's what you'd really rather see. I also can't count the number of times I've downloaded an album to listen to offline, especially while traveling, only to find that some or all of the downloads disappear whenever I lose an Internet connection. It's pretty annoying that an app that's been around for as long as it has is such a mess.
I have tried both. Apple Music for the superior sound. UA-cam Music for everything else, especially discovery. Every time I traveled through 'samples', I was saving the music recommended as it was exactly what I wanted. I was incredulous. Far-superior.
But why? Why pay for apple Music when the quality is worse than Spotify? And Spotify has so much more context too

I determined about a year and a half ago that UA-cam music was for me. Before that I was paying for UA-cam premium and Apple Music but then I was like “wait UA-cam music exists” and I haven’t gone back since. So many of the songs on my playlist are remixes of the original songs that aren’t on other platforms and that’s the second thing that sold me the first being it’s apart of UA-cam premium. I love UA-cam music and unless they separate UA-cam premium and UA-cam music I’ll never go back to Apple Music.
I am currently using both UA-cam Music and Apple Music, and from my experience, while UA-cam Music's discovery algorithm is much better than Apple's, I simply love the UI of Apple Music - especially the smooth lyrics animation/Apple Music Sing and the dynamic album covers - and its superior audio quality in the form of Dolby Atmos. Thus, Apple Music is still a little bit superior to me, but UA-cam Music is also a great option considering that as a student, you even get UA-cam Premium AND UA-cam Music for just 5.49$.

I can’t believe people actually pick YT music over literally anything that’s originally made for music.
I’ve heard the quality difference and it’s a very big difference if you are a hardcore music listener.
Just an FYI, majority of you folks will not notice a difference in audio quality unless you're using extremely new high end headphones or if your car supports better codecs.
I have several 3 high end audio systems without a high quality external dac and I cannot hear a difference. When I do hear music with a good dac, the difference is nominal to me so its hard to justify the price of an external dac. I love YTM. Nonetheless, it would be nice to offer hi rez to stay competitive…however, Spotify has yet to do it either.
I just have gen1 AirPods I can hear the difference but I go with yt music cuz it has more music
if yt music can give us shareplay, and higher music quality and equalizer that will be a complete music app IMO, i've been using it since 4 years and it has only gotten better. the offline mixtape is the best thing, the music library is just unmatched and i can download even the live shows music rather than the original. Apple music Audio quality doesn't matter if the songs aren't even there. If i like a video song on youtube it auto adds it into liked playlist on yt music and then i auto adds that to offline mixtape , nothing matches this advantage.
Totally agree with you! UA-cam’s algorithm is much better, but quality is worse. I also don’t like when UA-cam delete a song and after that you don’t know what song was it 😅
It's actually fun fact. If you have that song saved in a library and or downloaded when you go to that playlist, you'll see it grayed out so you can still search it up if somebody else has uploaded it

Well it’s 10.99 for UA-cam Music, Apple Music, and Spotify. But for 2 bucks more at 12.99 you can get UA-cam premium on top of UA-cam music. The extra 2 dollars for UA-cam premium is a killer deal. Especially if you watch a lot of UA-cam on phones/tablets. The amount of niche, unofficially remixes, and underground music are unmatched on UA-cam music.
Edit: UA-cam music is great for some unofficial songs as well, and there have been times music has been removed from all streaming services due to copyright, buts it’s still been on UA-cam music because the song was uploaded to UA-cam eg. The Spiteful Chant by Kendrick lamar

Apple Music seems to be a vestigial part of Apple's empire anymore. They rarely even talk about it at all and most of us have moved on to other services.
nice comparison, I actually have the 2 of them I got YT Music in a family plan and my brother got Apple music as well in a family plan. It's more or less like you said, if I really want to lay in bed and only hear high quality music I use apple music (I Imported my playlists) but to be honest I end up using UA-cam Music most of the time, the algorithm is really good in finding music that you might like so much that most of the time I use auto generated playlists; not only that, if you are into that stuff the track selection is insanely big thanks to youtube , here's an example, I love Oasis, I got vinyl's and records, you name it, I have got in my TYM library full live concerts, live presentations, remixes, Demo songs, unreleased songs, alternative version of songs that were never released officially and therefore are not in any other music streaming service, for that reason alone I end up using YTM more. Say, for example, the other day I found a girl covering one song that I really like from Oasis with superb quality, I have the ability to add that track to my playlist. As for the inconvenience of liking and subscribing at the same time, what I did from the very beggining was having 2 different youtube accounts, 1 is for YTM, and the other one is regular youtube, and there, problem solved, I can switch from and to those accounts inside the very same account and it doesn't take a family member sopot.

John…I recently tested Qobuz vs. YTM on my 3 high end systems without an external dac and could not hear a difference so I cancelled it.
Another friend told me I either needed a high end dac or cans. No thanks. I think it all boils down to the quality of the file, of which there is great variability out there. Listening to a play list in shuffle mode as I do for variety makes it very clear.
I wonder if YTM will ever offed hi rez files just to stay competitive, albeit a placebo effect for the most part?
I love UA-cam Music. The audio quality is barely noticable with earphones that allow you to change the EQ. I use iTunes to purchase music every now and again.
Ever since I got onto UA-cam Music over AM I never manually created a playlist for myself. The recommendations YTM provides is superb and the Offline Mixtape has saved my life on plane rides, car trips, etc.
It's strange bc there is some music I bought on iTunes several years back that I cannot find anywhere else, so I like to use the Music App on my iPhone for older songs I cant seem to find anywhere else, and YTM is my daily driver for fresh, new ways to explore and discover music.

Very informative video I just bought a pair of Apple AirPods headphones and was curious if the sound quality would be better on Apple Music. Honestly I feel the music quality of UA-cam Music is better but that’s just my opinion.
After having used iTunes/Apple Music for almost 10 years, I just quit today. Reasons: the UI of Apple Music sucks big time. The App on the desktop is always slow. Somehow it feels that you have to press the keys stronger to make it work jajaja. Also every time that they do an update, my collections gets all messed up (because for some years I used iTunes buying stuff, still some tracks appear as separate albums (from the same album) out of nowhere) and getting them together is super annoying. The fact that you have access to the YT videos is game changer, not only for music but also 10 hour versions of X thing to go to sleep, all old vinyl electronic music, drum solos etc. Today I did the transfer and from thousands of Apple Music albums there are only a few things I didn't find (and I will upload them myself). But YTM has more on average and if it's not there, it's uploaded as video+tracklist. Quality is the same, forget about formats. Go do blind tests with (not yet deaf) musicians/technicians and have fun.
I have both but biggest drawback of apple music is it never playes related songs after stopping a song and another is when you play 1 song from album which have only one song it stops playing so I have to open the app and play another song
I completely agree about how good UA-cam Music is at figuring out music you’d like. It’s almost creepy. But while I use Apple Music most of the time, the Apple Music Interface I feel is anything but slick.
Comparing an “Apple” to an ORANGE! UA-cam goes beyond and brings the artist directly to you with podcasts, live recordings, covers, shows…all essential to getting to know the artists and listening to them in natural environments…worth the money!❤

Not just you at all. I came over to Apple Music from Spotify due to price at first. Then I really started to appreciate Apple's cleaner interface. I tried UA-cam Music with a free trial. It annoyed me in the same way as Spotify does in terms of clutter and it not having a clean intuitive interface either.

Surprised you didn't mention Apple's Discovery Station through Apple Music. Newer "station," and I've gotta say that 95% of the time, I find music that I love. It's great for content discovery, but I do wish I could go back and see what I listened to in the past on it (especially if I listen when driving).

YT music wins just because of music track availability. There are millions of songs that are just on youtube and cannot be found on other music services. That's the point. If I cannot find songs I like anywhere else, what would I use anywhere else than YT music?

I’ve had a few trials of Apple Music over time but never made the switch. I hate how the platforms hold your playlists to ransom, no way to export that data as far as I know.

You would just have to swipe over to your library and it would filter and show you if it's in your library. In terms of offline, I kind of agree with you for the albums. However, again, if you're offline, it does show up in search

Does Apple Music have the feature “Radio”? Where you play a song hit radio and it plays music similar to it. Also I can find rare not release music on UA-cam music that isn’t on Apple Music.

I really love using YT Music because I cannot live without UA-cam Premium because of the ads in my videos, and YT music is already in the package. But I am struggling to download songs in it because it takes longer to download and sometimes get stuck in download status (I am using an iPhone), does anyone have any workaround on this? That's my main concern with it solely but other than that, everything is great.
Downloading on Spotify or AM doesn't seem to have any problem and is downloading very quickly. Sound quality is definitely better on AM and Apple Music Sing is one of their best features also. But I can live with YT Music because I don't notice much difference when I'm playing it on my car or speaker, maybe noticeable on headphones but not much. The downloading is just a bit annoying on my end on YT Music.
UA-cam Ads have been pissing me off so much that I finally gave in and signed up to premium, I also have Apple Music but can't justify paying for both so unfortunately it's bye bye Apple Music, I do love the Apple Music UI though and sound quality but not sure I'll notice the drop in quality too much. The AAC from YTM is transparent, as in humans cannot differentiate between the AAC lossy track and a lossless track.

Hey Josh, so I subscribe to both but gravitate to Apple Music after using UA-cam Music for a long time due to having Galaxy Buds/Buds2 Pro and Air Pods Pro so I can take advantage of Dolby Atmos/Spatial Audio when listening on my phone or Galaxy Book laptop (side note: did you know that the Apple Music Windows 11 App only supports AirPlay (and probably the only time you’ll see it on Windows) but not Chromecast or Miracast). I also like that I can still purchase music from an artist that I follow closely since he recently went back to being independent and have better control over my library by having access to the files (even the songs from Apple Music if you dig through windows file explorer). If Google can get higher quality audio and the native desktop uploader app that they had during the Google Play Music days (because I hate Google insistence of making everyone dependent on their browser) I might switch back. ~BMcK
The fact that Apple Music does not have a like/dislike button directly on the face of all players on all devices (mac, watch etc) astounds me. Why do they need to hide making a song a favorite behind a sub menu. UA-cam has it everywhere. Thumbs up and down everywhere the same way.
The sound quality difference is there for those who know that they are looking for. Most would fail a blind comparison test.
YT algorithms and auto playlists are excellent. YT music works well on all Apple devices and has not left me wanting. Also works on windows which is bonus for us techie folks who use both.

If you care about sound quality YT won’t be your primary listening service. Plain and simple. If you don’t care then its great.
I listen both of them on my iPhone 15 Plus with EarPods. I prefer UA-cam Music sound quality. It's more clear in the same volume level and more vibrant in every range for the same track. But I love Apple Music interface beautiful and easy to use.
While Apple does have a large "classical" (meaning _serious_ ) music collection, and one can buy for download, I find I use UA-cam Music because UA-cam has such a large selection of performances of esoteric and rare music. It can't be beat for that.

Yeah, I only find it useful with the Era 300. It can also be decent with AirPods Max, but I’d argue it’s really just for speakers.

While I have UA-cam Premium with UA-cam Music, I still use Apple Music for one big reason - the ability sort albums in my library by artist. You cannot do this in UA-cam Music. It only sorts albums by album name without the ability to sort by artist name.
I believe the offline mixtape thing can be achieved on apple music with a Smart Playlist
Apple product equates to dig deeper beyond the app's initial co$t (pun intended) no matter what. Movies, music, plastic gadgetry. UA-cam at least gives tutorials on just about everything aside from the audio only to plenty of awesome music videos. Take Tom Petty for one example. Nuff said.

just got rid of Apple Music due to being poor at suggesting music no matter how many times I dislike a track apple will carry on playing it - the playlists are rubbish the ui is rubbish what's the point of the browser page its full of hip hop its ok if you like that but not for me so I never looked at the browser page - the radio stations are rubbish - have subscribed to you tube music its the best it knows what I like it has a great radio tool where you pick the artist and the mood ie chill, upbeat and so on - great videos which can't be found on Apple Music - remixes which can't be found on Apple Music - YT music is way better than Apple Music - also the sound quality is good for me its the same as Apple Music at 256kbps which is the same as Apple Music non lossless.
