Great cat - loyal, smart, excellent hunter, quite muscular. Double coat - mine loved rain and was fascinated with bathtub (fell there couple times). They really shed - need brushing. They check your face expression - like to keep eye contract. Quite active, affectionate, cautious but like to make friends. Bit of dog features (compared to other cat breeds). Excellent companion, creates closer bond than european cat or British. Recommended, except for the parting side - wish they could live for 50 years!
Ours is the exception then: she is quite vocal and can meow very loudly to say hi when my wife or I approach her and she rubs on our legs and hands and loooooves to rubbed under her chin and just purs and purs!!
I have one & i found him in a parking lot as a baby. I absolutely adore & love him so good. He’s well mannered & well behaved & also gets along with other cats and my big dog that he grew up with. He’s really smart. They do shed a lot with their double coat, but i brush him & clean his area weakly & it’s fine. He’s my little angel & he’s so much smarter than any other cats i’ve came across.
He has a double coat waterproof as well...also kind loyal and will keep all other cats away from ur property after 10 years of owning chartreuxs I never had a problem with shedding... This guy has not do e his research properly.....he got loyalty right but he just described evey cat lol ❤
I have one he sleeps all day out all night. Does not play at all, if he attacks he hurts a lot he eats me out of house and home. He's terrified of mice 😊and hates people he doesn't know 🙄
as a happy owner, this is a good video, all those difficulties like needing affection, even greeting rituals are real benefits if you are around. They make great shop cats will will sit nearby (up high) while you work. Some however are Not big, some are small, same robust characteristics. They are great mousers as that is what they did in castles and farms in France they feel happy in between the walls.
My Gray Ghost is a great cat. He's indoor and outdoor, and boy can he eat. Both wet and dry and around a pound of turkey breast a week. He follows me around like a dog, and is very loving.
I still miss my potato boy to this day, best cat I ever had was the Chartreux I rescued when I moved to a new city. Such a sweet loving, gentle boy who just wanted to sit on my lap all day hang out. No pest ever stood a chance with him around!
I have a small, non vocal one who seemed to be a kitten until she was past 8. She goes into wall spaces and will catch mouses if they are there, otherwise greeting rituals she invented and headonistic affection throughout the day.
Today I finally learn what breed my Pepper boy was 💖 He really was the perfect cat for me and I will definitely get another one in the future 🥰 I do love my two kitties that I have already, but there’s just something about how snuggly Chartreux are that I crave
My Chartreux is my best buddy. Such an awesome cat and I cannot imagine life without her. She communicates so clearly with her voice, plays, loves people, affections etc etc . . . . What a dumb judgemental video.
I love my Milo! He is the smartest cat I’ve ever owned. He is very active, and the most loving cat I’ve ever had , did I say he’s my favorite cat ever! All my cats have a special place in my heart, but Milo has a way of taking over your heart with love ❤️
Do these cats come long haired too? I have a rescue cat. The shelter provided no info on the breed. I know for a fact his father was an orange tabby, but he is grey with a white bib and white "socks and mittens". I have no idea what his mother was, but this cat is a stunner. VERY VERY shy, and skittish-he had been abused before he was given up. Gentle, affectionate and very loving. I thought he might be Russian Blue but he has many of the traits of the Chartruse, except he has long hair.
A cat can only be called a specific breed if both parents are of that breed. As your cat's sire was ginger, your cat cannot be a Chartreux. The Chartreux is always a solid blue shorthair, with no white. They are extremely rare, so it's highly unlikely that your cat's mother was a Chartreux. He sound like a beautiful cat though. My first cat was a fluffy grey and white and a true gentleman.
I broke number 6 about 6 years ago. Smokey spends more than half of his life outside. I caught him chasing a coyote just the other day. I've never had a more intelligent and capable cat. We go on walks together with no leash.
Thank you for the video but this is very unnecessary… 80% of the facts apply to almost all the races. If you don’t have time for a cat, can’t get them climbing possibilities and if you are not aware of the fact that almost all cars shed then you shouldn’t get a cat AT ALL.
@@TheTrainFullThat’s what cats are meant for man. Dogs you can’t go out after work or be spontaneous since they have set feeding times but cats you can. We used to take weekend trips and leave a big bowl of dry food out for the cat and have my grandpa come by to give him wet food, clean the litter box, and check on him. That’s the beauty of cats is they are very self sufficient
It's been like 13 years now and is counting...... Excalibur Croatian Blue, Neo for short, is my Chartreuse. A veritable blue blood, the only one in the family. Anyway, each and every morning starts with Neo waking me up. A couple of minutes before the alarm clock. Strange, but Neo seems to be more punctual than even my Swiss warch. So I go get him fresh food and water and clean up his gent's. It's only then that I even think of starting my day. The same goes for Neo. By the time I need to my do number ones, he's already taking a nap after a hard morning's work.... Comes the bedtime after a day's work. Showers, flosses, a late Mr. Jack, It's time for bed, I jump in and eager3 clutch my e-reade. But I'm not the only one. ❤ Neo is there, pawing and sniffing me, walking back and forth just to rub his smell off on me😂. Using both his front paws to very gently hold my hand and sniffing around my face in sign of a kiss ❤ And most every night for the last 13 years! And then I read for a while, using my right hand to work the e-reader and my left to pet and scratch gently Neo's tummy, his throat, cheecks, ears❤❤❤❤. And we both fall asleep..........
Hello. I have a wonderful male Chartreux cat that is 11 years old in great health. I give him ALOT of attention but work full time in the evenings and feel like he could use another cat around him. A kitten is what i'm thinking. Is this a good idea? He seems bored alot of the time by himself. We have a big house/yard for two cats.
He’s describing most cats. lol I have a gray cat that looks exactly like a chartreux. Best cat I ever had. Loves to snuggle and will not take no for an answer when she thinks it’s time for her petting session. It has to be done a certain way. lol
They're built like a potato. My neighbor kept asking me if my cat was pregnant and I said no that's the way this breed is built and besides he's a boy 😆
Our Chartreux cat (Earl Grey) first time we thought he could handle being in our backyard, ran straight up the tree with so much energy. He got stuck 50 feet up and my stepbrother had to climb up and carry him down. Earl Grey was fine but my stepbrother had a few scratches to the face 😂
This is a stupid video. We have a Chartreux mix & all of these reasons listed here are either typical to cats in general or would be a reason you would WANT a Chartreux if you couldn't' put the adequate time in for a dog, but want the affection. I don't like to post negative comments, but I felt this was important to say!

Exactly on the hunter. I have a half breed. How he ended up mostly white is a mystery.
We want to clone ours so badly! (& he is only a Chartreux mix)
This guy really just said "dont get this cat because it acts like normally functioning cat"
Literally
Scared me cause I just got one
@@denisewilliams716Me too
my cat likes to fight with me it's like sparring but claws are sharp
I have to agree to disagree....one of the most amazingly , brilliant and charismatic breeds I have ever owned . ....
You forgot the main characteristic of this breed : Chartreux are silent.
Yep ,hardly ever a meow. They chrill
or chirp
Mine is actually pretty talkative
Mine is very talkative too especially when I talk to her nice. @@DevilmanG21
Mine chirps quite often I woudlnt say silent. But definitely not a normal meow more like chirps and trills
Ours is the exception then: she is quite vocal and can meow very loudly to say hi when my wife or I approach her and she rubs on our legs and hands and loooooves to rubbed under her chin and just purs and purs!!
"7 Reasons not to get this cat" turned into "5 reasons you need this cat" really fast lol
This cat is amazing

Big cat, but also a lap cat 😺 very comfy and friendly
Oh my Karma.. I lost him November 17. The best cat ever!! I miss him so 😢much

My Chartreux as well, are they known to be more nocturnal?
That's not common. Something is wrong with him. Chateaux cats are usually friendly

Same here 😂😂 he sleeps all day and he’s way bigger than my other cat
My chartreux is so lovely !
So perfectly beautiful !
I adore him just like he is !
Stigmatising animals is stigmatising there owner and stigmatising people: I thought it was verbiden !
I find it odd since I have a chartreux cat that loves being outdoors.

That makes your cat a British long hair. 1parent is different. But can have the mannerisms of either parent.
I love her my son named her Zelda and she just is soo drawn to us soo smart it haven’t even been a week the girl was like made for us
Excellent video. I have a chartreux and everything you’ve said is exactly how it is.
Thanks for watching and the comment - appreciate it!
I have Chartreux cat. he is 3, my best friend and I love him so much. he doesn't shed a lot!

I have this cat he doesn’t need to run and play 😂😂 he’s so lazy all day and sleeps all day also he doesn’t shed that much as other he’s a shorthair

That's wat I did I got a tabby for my girl to play with
A number of the cat's in this video aren't Chartreux. Some are British blue and some are Russian Blue or Korats.
I have one and he's the greatest cat in the world. This video destribes my cat to a T.
I guess my Chartreux missed the memo because he is low energy, unaffectionate and doesn’t shed that often. At least he is smart.

My chartreuse… is a great hunter of faucets, but she would rather make friends with a bug and come home with a great story about meeting a new friend.
I have a charteux, she is my big Love❤❤❤
Me wathing this already having a 1 year old chartreux 👁 👄 👁

I have one. Best cat ever
Some of these cons were ridiculous. Keep them stimulated, but don’t let them outside 🥴 another con might be that they’re affectionate 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Don’t let it go outside because it might act like a normal cat and climb trees?

💀 Too late 😂😂😂 love my Chartreux (Indigo)
Half of these are literally all cats
Fluent in French and it's pronounced "shar-truh " not shar-troos
Sounds like an excellent barn cat and mouser.
