My half-French husband really wanted a Chartreux; we were able to find a 4 year old male with 2 Grand titles less than 3 hours away near Columbus, OH. Valiant (he was born in a "V" year) bonded with my husband before we even left the cattery owner's house. Only problem we had with him was a terrible dental infection that took years to treat--antibiotics and steroids and so many extractions that by the time it was finally cleared up he was left with all 4 canines, a few incisors, and one premolar, but that was the end of the problem. He later developed hyperthyroidism but was very good about taking his medication for my husband every day in a Greenies chicken pill pocket. He was somewhat affectionate with me and would come to me for pets and sit across my lap sometimes, but he was very much my husband's cat. I wasn't living with them when they passed but the way my husband described it it sounded like he had cancer.

I have a Chartruex male and he's a beauty! Actaully their lifespan can go upto year 30 as they don't have the same dna of all other domestic cat breeds, which is one uniqueness to the breed. Only 3 breeders in France remain, and 1 in Germany, which is where I got my baby from... he he 12 years old recently.
