    Maggie is great. And Sammi's upper register on the harmonies is just mind blowing. Their harmonies are a visit to heaven.

    Maggie was about 18 in this video, amazing performance at that age, blows my mind every time I listen to F and F.

    Such a tender and sweet rendition. Immediately places you someplace so pleasant. Stellar production value once more given the venue.

    Round and round we go, where the wheel stops-nobody knows. The wheel slows- and folks we have another winner!!! Jeff, you said it all, coming to an open air venue with all the distractions and nailing it!, That is the sign of true professionals. By the way, I loved it!

    They had a Mackey board and an Alesis HD 24 to record with. About 16 tracks recorded straight off the board including 4 or 5 mics on the drums. Tim and Toby would manually go thru each mic track and mute it when it wasnt in use to get rid of the noise. Not only playing next to a parking lot but a major highway in the background. Tim would mix the audio and then sync it to the edited 3 camera video. Toby did the mix for the live audience.

    There is a reason F&F videos have 100 million views.

      Too bad the band doesn't get a dollar for each one of those views.

      @@manwithumbrellaWith yt views plus all of the direct fan support thru virtual tip jar and patreon they are well into 6 figures/year. The rightsholders of the songs get most of the yt revenue but most elect to share a small amount with channels in the partner program. Tim says the band averages about 1 cent/view, but 1.2 million views per month is a lot of pennies.

      Her decision to not pursue that was made at least 10 years ago when she switched her major to music business management. 100 million views from fans in about 50 countries is pretty much sharing with the world.

      @@lynwessel2471 In their recent 100 million views livestream, it was interesting to learn how her music business management skills have been used to promote the group. That whole livestream session was very informative, even after having read their book.

    Great reaction, Jeff. Glad you've been introduced to F&F. Just a few days ago, they did a livestream in celebration of their 100 millionth view on UA-cam. I can't usually sit through that long of an interview, but I sat fascinated through the whole thing. I know your time is probably limited, but if you get the chance it's well worth hearing, maybe even to a veteran like you.

    Most of their recordings since 2019 are available as AIF downloads. Much better sound quality vs youtube.

    Although they used the Keith Whitley arrangement I am more familiar with the version done by Alison Krauss. I've heard that in at least a couple of movies. But I really like this one better. I am not a huge fan of the typical "country sound" and Maggie's voice, as well as the instrumentation, is much less "country" than the other versions.

    I do love Maggie's soft and intimate voice but it is soft. She has the least powerful voice of the five lead singers in the group. You gotta hear the other four sing lead.

      Maggie may have the least powerful voice of the 5, but she also has arguably the purest tone and most beautiful voice in the entire band as well.

    I fell in love with the Foes and Fossils after seeing their Suite: Judy Blue Eyes' cover. Not only did their vocals and harmonies blow me away, but their musicianship is excellent as well. And the late great Scott King who was the bassist on all their early F&F recordings was exceptional.

    They would have a big rehearsal weekend at the beginning of summer to learn new material. Then if they had a Sunday night where The Mustangs weren't playing and the girls had time, Tim would call up the Twisted Taco and they'd say come on over. No rehearsal , just show up and play.

    Jeff, Good Job as always, and I guess you could call me a fan of 'Foxes and Fossils'...I have all the albums, cap, t-shirt, I'm one of their low rent patreons, (I'm on a fixed income as I'm retired). I drove to Atlanta back in December of 2022 for their first live show in almost five years and got to hear them and meet them and they are just such down to earth folks. Now, a few days ago they celebrated 100,000,000 (as in one hundred million) views on their UA-cam Channel and came out with another studio video. It was the Beatles song "Because" from the Abby Road album and I got to tell you that I loved John, Paul and George's harmonies, but Maggie, Sammie and Chase is my new favorite. Their harmonies are so beautiful. I mean spooky good, goosebumps good and I think you're really gonna love it. Anyway, hope you do "Because" by Foxes and Fossils soon.

    • @rgoers
      @rgoers 5 місяців тому

      @jimrentz I couldn't agree more. Personally, I think it is Sammie that glues the harmonies together, not that Chase and Maggie aren't great too. Using Telling Me Lies as an example, Sammie harmonizes with both Maggie and Chase individually and then as part of all 3. Personally, I think it is Sammies high harmony on Landslide that makes that song so awesome. I laugh when I watch her in that video because she is so nonchalant about what she is doing, as if it is as easy as breathing.

    Jeff - I am a big fan of F&F and I'm so glad you've been turned onto them. I can tell you appreciate them as so many of us do. I know you are planning to react to several more of their songs/videos, but I don't believe I have heard you mention their cover of the beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby." I think it's one of their best. It's the song that first got me listening to them back during COVID. I just happened to stumble upon it while browsing Beach Boys song. So happy i did. You should definitely give it a listen.
    Also, not to take away from F&F, but another young artist you might want to check out is Emily Linge. She is currently only 16, but started posting videos at about age 11, and was even very good way back then. Now she is fabulous. Vocals are out of this world and her piano playing is amazing. She also plays guitar. She lives in Dubai with her English and Norwegian parents, both musicians. One of my favorite covers of hers is "Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum. Give it a watch. And keep up the good work.

      Jeff, very happy you've made room in your reaction schedule to cover so many of F&F already. Everyone has preferences, and there are songs/passages that seem stand-out, but I've seen/heard every F&F video, purchased every release, and became a patreon vip subscriber, and I would consider every single one a must-listen.

    • @rgoers
      @rgoers 5 місяців тому +2

      @FrankPirrello Don't worry, it is already on Jeff's list. He has a dozen F&F's after this one. For me, Suite Judy Blue Eyes was the first one I heard and I still listen to it almost every day. That is just a really, really hard song to do well and they nailed it on the first try. That said, I don't know that I have a favorite. There are just too many.

    • @FrankPirrello
      @FrankPirrello 5 місяців тому +1

      @@rgoers I agree ,,, they are all great. And you are right ... Suite Judy Blue Eyes is amazing, especially considering it was the first song of their first ever performance.
