Everything F&F does just makes me smile. I sure do miss seeing Scott in the new stuff. It's already been a few years since his passing. The group spoke well of him on the livestream the other night. The only way I know these folks is from their YT videos, their documentaries, book, and replays of their concert, yet I feel they are almost members of my community.
I love this song! 😊 These guys, and gal, did a great job! I'm with you Jeff, this group is playing music for the pure joy of playing and singing. These are musicians that love what they do. ❤ Bravo to them and to you for your spot on analysis.
I'm so glad that you found Foxes & Fossils. I've been following them for a few years. These guys and Leonid & Friends are my favorite tribute bands. Listen to them all the time in my car. I love your commentary, Jeff!
@@StrateleStudios Thanks. It's taken me 67 years to get used to it, lol. People mispronounce it all the time but that's okay. Looking forward to more of your videos, Jeff!
Thanks Jeff. These guys are great and remind me of my mom's late brother, Banjo Benny, who would play at parties and holidays. He always had a banjo or ukulele with him. We were all so lucky to witness his charm.
So here was your intro to Brian Lewis. He has played in quite a few of the in-studio recordings. One interesting thing - apparently neither Sammie or Chase had heard this before soTim taught Sammie the harmony right before the show. Chase gave up her mic for Brian so she doesn't appear in the video that you can really see. By this point you should feel like you know the group pretty well. Most people comment on the difference between the early live shows and the stuff they do in studio. Most live recordings I've listened to (from other groups) haven't been that good but Tim seems to have mastered the art of recording live a long time ago so to my ear they are as good as many groups in studio recordings. Although the stuff they do in the studio is really good (IMO) there is just something special about listening to a group that includes 2 teenage girls who sound so good live on a concrete patio.
I think this is also the event which I've heard them comment more than once was extremely hot. I did not realize Chase was there, thanks for that. Also notice the harmony that Scott adds, is easy to miss. And how about that 8-string mandolin? Don't know how common that is. Love what Brian has added to their recordings and concert.
@@dmfjkc I actually didn't know Chase was there either. I think @lynwessel2471 pointed out in a comment on the video that you can see Chase walkling back into the video in the last couple seconds. I looked but wasn't really able to make her out. However, I pretty much trust anything she says about F&F. Heck, for all I know she might have actually been there (for the record I don't remember her saying she ever attended any of the gigs they played but it certainly wouldn't surprise me).
@@rgoersShes the blonde with the red plaid shirt lower left last half second lol. Fan since 2014 , never been to Atlanta. Good memory try to be 100% accurate. Bugs me when band members keep getting 10 years old details wrong, lol.
@@lynwessel2471 Oh wow - I apologize. All this time I thought you were female! I also thought you had gone to church with Tim or something back in the day. I have been to Atlanta quite a few times and actually might have travelled there at a time when they were performing. I used to have to go to Athens, GA a couple times a year. But I never made it up to Smyrna.
Sammie had just graduated Vanderbilt.(2017). Maggie graduated Belmont in 2015. Chase was there, about to start at Belmont that fall. This was the last F&F live gig.They/we thought that was the end of it. Fall of 2019 they reunited to begin studio recordings which led to the reunion concert more than 5 years after this.
Hi, please do yourself another favor. You are listening to Ralph about F&F. I love them and have been following them for years. Well, here is another magnificent sleeper; LUCY THOMAS. Just turned twenty and has been laying music out since age 14 or so. She is being called the best young female voice in the world. She was on KID’S VOICE (England) when she was 12, was a runner up but signed a contract and has 5 albums out now. You will not regret it. BTW, I really like that you don’t stop the music and your reactions are always spot on.
Jeff, you really should also check out the Mustangs, which is pre-Foxes and Fossils. It features some of these members including Tim the lead vocalist in this video. They do "Man Eater", "Penny Lane" and a few others, however the two I just mentioned are absolutely fantastic! By the way, I really enjoy your channel.
They Mustangs played 1996-2018. The videos are from 2011 and 2014 which was the show where F&F was the opening act for The Mustangs. For at least one song It was Amy, Maggie and Sammie all onstage with The Mustangs.
heavenly harmonies.
i would love to go camping with these folks so i could sit around the campfire and listen to them do all these songs unplugged. 😋
They have talked about possibly doing a destination weekend at a resort with a concert one night and and an acoustic session the next.
This was the first F&F video I saw a few years ago. It wasn’t the last. 😊

Thanks Ralph!!! Jeff, They just love to play outside!! Hey, If it Ain't broke don't fix it!!
You may wish to listen to Chase sing her first song joining the Foxes and Fossils…..”Royals.” (About 2018 ?).
And to think, this is without any rehearsal!
Sammie had never heard of the song before.
1:38 Darwin asks "what song"
This was the first time F & F performed Amie. Tim walked Sammie through her part just before the recording started.
Its the only time they performed it as this was their last gig (July 2017) until the reunion concert.
The "King of Bass" really outdid himself with that outfit tho! They received compliments from several members of Pure Prairie League for this cover.
