You didn't get to mention it in the video but these lights are far brighter than Kino Flo - 2 of the t8 bulbs are as bright as 4 of the Kino 4' tubes. These things are bright! Love these things.
I work for NBC universal’s grip & lighting warehouse. Chicago Med has been using quasars. But they’ve been using LED tubes with Mactech Bodies (which are more sturdier than kino bodies)
When you turned the first light on and adjusted the color temp to match the camera setting it all made sense. Even in a quick tutorial/unboxing video like this the quality that light produced was undeniable. So much to learn so little time...
I’ve been watching samples of films that use quasar science lights and they’re great. I’m actually using them on my senior thesis and I’m excited to use these bad boys!
Well Devin and Co. you are officially famous. I was in Savannah Ga. on vacation and it was raining one day so we turned on the tv and watched some local channels one of which was TBD and low and behold there was Devin Supertramp videos “Festival of Colors” “Barefoot Skiier by a plane” Etc. Just thought you might want to hear when being seen somewhere other that UA-cam. Keep up the good work especially the educational videos. I have learned a lot and you have inspired me (no pun intended) for a lot of shots that I do with my Inspire 2 for my business.
That is a nice setup! The Kinoflow is a great standart fixture we use really often. Changing the Temperature without changing the lights itself is a great feature! And dimming it without ND makes working much more efficient. Me and my coworkers really fell in love withe the carpetlight. You should really check it out, if you havent already.
There are so many LED lights out there that make skin tones look nasty, but ...WOW, these lights are on a whole new level, you can instantly tell the difference in CRI with how flattering the skin tones look.
Prank Smart if they open up a box and not give any substantial value on the product in the box, then it seems like a cheap move to get views. Bigger picture...I think the idea of an unboxing video is rather a cheap way to get views. In my opinion.
thanks for teaching me! i learned a lot that i can apply to my youtube music/cooking channel! .....btw, i have your devin supertramp glidecam! it's a bit of a learning curve to use it
Great video. A few questions: Where can I get the 6 bank kino Flo shell? Does that shell come equipped (as shown in video) with the 1 power source to turn on all 6 bulbs? Is there a 4 bank kino Flo shell that does the same thing, just with 4 bulbs instead of 6?
How did you get that blinking light effect in the video with the lady playing the violin? I would love to see tutorials on special light effect like you have in that video. From the bond orange gels to the blinking lights.
Great video!! Now all I need is a portable battery solution for my taste. For my typical setup I probably be only getting 2 of these lights and a dimmer. So my question is, to minimize the amount of extension cables I'll need to hide on set (narrative filmmaking only), do you know of any portable solution I could use for each light? I'm not an electrician but it seems like I may need to build a battery setup for this. which I am all for.
How do you call the clamp at 7:26? I hear "caralini clamp"? I searched and searched and I can't find them anywhere. I would love to buy them. Thanks for the great video, BTW!
Awesome and amazing lighting! Before I buy these, do you buy the bulbs by themselves or do they only come in the 6 pack with the barn door? Like I only want 3 bulbs for now, not all 6, so is it $275 for each bulb? And do they come with the light stand?
Hey Devin!! How do you decide which piece of gear your going to buy next, like right now I don't have a lot of money, so when I buy gear I have to be super picky about what I choose to buy next, so how do you decide???
My advice is to start with the stuff that will last the longest and be the most relevant for the longest period of time. Cameras tend to be on short life cycle these days, with a camera model only lasting 3 to 5 years. Lights, audio, tripods, etc. tend to last much longer, 10 or more years for example. So, you will tend to have that gear span several camera models. And, you can easily rent the latest camera online. So my advice is usually to invest in the support gear, which tends to be cheaper than cameras.
I think they cut out the part where Devin commented that the 90 degree honeycomb louvers diffused the light bank, when they actually control spill and direct the light in a more narrow beam. Now there's a little pop up message. The amazing feature of the kino flo design with the quasar led's is how soft the lights right out of the box. But sometimes that can get you into trouble too. So while the louvers will cut the light output slightly, it also can prevent a lot of spill too.
What are the differences between these Quasar Science lights, and the run-of-the-mill LED lights that you can buy at your usual light shops? Have been curious about them since earlier this year.
Quasar and kinoflos are not similar at all. One is a fluorescent, the other an LED. Also, please don't say that in a hh circuit you can plug "almost" 2000w. This is the way kids get confused
I can't figure out how to buy these stupid things. They don't sell them on their website. I went to the online store for every single "Dealer" they listed for California and not one of them appears to even carry Quasar Science products, let alone these particular bulbs. If I have to work this hard to buy a product, the company has failed.

Loved this one and the previous upload. I'm a huge fan of the unboxing videos and the 'vibe' they provide in this set!

Utterly fascinating and engaging. Would love to see a setup video for music video scenes as shown here briefly.
Awesome! I had no idea Quasar sold custom kit with them retrofitted in Keno shells!!
The quasars are soooo clutch. Love these things.
great video!! Nice explanation in the details !!! thanks!!
YOU ARE TRULY AMAZING DEVIN!

I'm totally with you on unboxings... Mostly clickbait if they dont provide any value.
how is it clickbait if they open up a box

+maximum Velociraptor i mean it is called unboxing lol
Prank Smart which IMO is inherently low on the value-added scale.
Great info! A ton of info. Thanks .. best wishes!
Awesome upload, Devin.
thanks Dev! Going to for sure pick some of these up
awesome stuff dev!
Pls do some lighting setup with these lights
awesome
thanks for teaching me! i learned a lot that i can apply to my youtube music/cooking channel! .....btw, i have your devin supertramp glidecam! it's a bit of a learning curve to use it

They should have done a giveaway to one of your audience viewers, it would have been awesome lead generation tool. You definitely have enough viewers
Thought this would something interesting to invest in.
How did you get that blinking light effect in the video with the lady playing the violin? I would love to see tutorials on special light effect like you have in that video. From the bond orange gels to the blinking lights.
It's just a light switch, or a DMX controller.

Nice work Devin
Awesome
Hey Devin, could you make another more-updated video on how to get music for your videos? the website you put on your last one is gone...thanks
Good info. Thanks.
wow, great video!! awesome thank you so much. anyway, you can place links to where you purchased the lighting equipment (lights, clamps, etc)?
1'27" what video is that? where can i watch it?
Looked like you were using the saber plugin from video co pilot on the light, AWESOME VIDEO!
YES! Another Video Copilot/Andrew Kramer fan!!! Lol.
👍🤘
I love these lights and bought 4x 4 foots. oh and you can dim kinoflos.
How do you call the clamp at 7:26? I hear "caralini clamp"? I searched and searched and I can't find them anywhere. I would love to buy them.
Thanks for the great video, BTW!
Found it! They are called Cardellini clamps!
specifically...spebicfically....specifically.....*gets it right*
*proceeds to say*
PACIFICALLY. hahahh classic

Can you put gels around these lights?
And what dimmer is that?
I learned more about lights from this video than in film school lol
thx for sharing! its cool and very usefull. May be i will buy few of them!!
Great Quality! Great Video! Great Umboxing! You are videomakings' God
Is there a place I could buy just the flo banks on their own?
Genial!
Nice video! So these quasar lights are compatible with kino flow light fixtures?
Have you checked the lights from Walimex?
Was great does this work like sensor I mean with the music Tempo for music video ?
Nice! Are you going to review Aputure lights as well?
ua-cam.com/video/hMcKGKaqDrY/v-deo.html
Aaron Van Domelen ah I missed that one, thanks for pointing it out!

Brian Hansen Thank you!!!! That is a very good point, thanks again for the response!
Are they rechargeable or they need to be plugged in I'm asking at 1 minute in so I might regret asking
Plugged in
decent set up
Literally *sitting* on that much money worth of lights...... shiiiiiet. I'm jealous.
Cool
I was watching the video and you guy just deleted it for a while why man why ?
Spends 10,000 on lighting set up.. “ it’s inexpensive “ 😂
Why'd you delete the upload from earlier today?
I think they cut out the part where Devin commented that the 90 degree honeycomb louvers diffused the light bank, when they actually control spill and direct the light in a more narrow beam. Have been curious about them since earlier this year.
1) High CRI - Your colors look better than cheap run-of-the-mill LED lights
2) Flicker free - You can use these lights with high shutter speeds
There are dimable Kinos, have a look at the tegra series, there're amazing
What was wrong with the first video?
too bad it doesn't have remote control for dimmer and color temperature
Now I don't understand why I would ever buy kino flos 😂
Why did u reupload?
It's "pacifically"
Looks like a light people grow weed under 😂
50th!
All time, brand new favourites. I hate to be that guy...
But why no skypanels ? 😉 ok its sarcasm but did you think of them?
soo.........couldnt you just get "Gels" lol
i don't know how i can carry that around....too big..

Go to theimagingworld website. Free shipping too
Amazon started to sell them earlier this year.
We're giving away Quasars +tons more filmmaking gear!ua-cam.com/video/Ek4BwqQnqMc/v-deo.html
