I don’t have any needleminders that I got on vacation or anything…but my favorite one is one I bought that says “I have an Angel in heaven, I call her mom.” I have it on a project I’m making in honor of my grandma and it brings many memories of both to me when I stitch on it. Two wonderful women who left too soon and I miss dearly. ❤ I hope you know how lucky you are to have each other and had a great Mothers Day!
Loved seeing all the lovely stitching and quilting.
Happy Mother's day!!...congratulations on your finishes...thanks for sharing your joy in stitching...I stitch in hand...my grandgirls bought me one needle minder and it is a hedgehog... that is my favorite...have a great retreat❤❤
Happy mother's day to you both. I enjoy your videos.😊
So enjoyed! Love all you stitching and quilting. So pretty.
Happy Mothers Day to you both! Love your videos.
Always enjoy your videos..... you’re lovely people😊
Yay! You are here!!! Happy Mother's Day to you both 💐🌷💐
Wow lots of finishing going on! Loved those reindeer! Thee quilts where fabulous!
Happy Mother’s Day! I have 2 favorite needleminders: a little tiny corgi (love that breed, but don’t own one) and a Zappy Dot of two cardinals under some mistletoe. I love the smallness of them and super good magnets! Happy stitching!
Happy Mother’s Day ladies ❤ My favorite needle minder is Mrs Beasley from Mad for Minders. It brings back lovely memories of my childhood and Family Affair. Thanks for another fun video and all that you share. Denise
I loved working on my 324, straight through. ❤
Well, at least I wasn’t alone in the hundreds. I should have added that i probably had under 25 kits before covid. It became a covid hobby. I can’t stitch as fast as I can kit 😂 It was so nice to spend time with you both while I stitched this afternoon. Love all that colored cork you have, Carol. That’s another giveaway i am ready for - something made by Carol with cork! Jennifer, you have been so productive! Love your new starts, especially the 263 color one and the Satsuma bunny. Needle minders, this is hard (here’s a shocker - I have a LOT!) I love the ones from Mad for Minders for my large pieces. I love the stitch dots for smaller pieces. And I LOVE my Two Tall Stitcher one because it was a gift and it is special. Thanks ladies! xx
Happy Mother's Day to both of you! Jen, you got so much done on 324 already! That's actually what I was stitching on while I watched. 😊
Happy Mother’s Day Helen!
I adore the quilt behind you! My favorite needle minder is a black cat 🐈⬛️ that looks just like my kitty.
Love the finished picture of Harry and that The Princess loved it, too!
My favorite needle minder is a heart shape wood piece with houses and trees softly painted all over. It's just homey and love.
Enjoy your retreat in IL. Hugs
Happy Mother’s Day ❤️ I have close to 100 needleminders and it’s like choosing a favorite child!🤣. I have a ton of different moose and Maine ones, so those are probably my favorite. Friends and family buy me pins when they go on vacation and I make them into needleminders 🫎
Happy Mother's Day! I love all your finishes! You both do such wonderful work on your quilts and stitching. My favorite needle minder is one I made from a Highland Cow pin I purchased last summer from the Culloden gift shop in Scotland. It's a great reminder of a wonderful vacation.
My favourite needle minder is a bunny from the first swap I ever did. Have a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend.
Love you Maynia plan Jen! I’ve given myself permission to have 2+new starts this month! So far I have started 2 of them! Otherwise my Maynia is working on WIPs! Love the framing for Harry Styles and your temperature chart! Perfect fits! Have fun at the upcoming retreat!
Hope you had a nice Mother's Day. Loved seeing all of your projects--as always! I love many of my needleminders. My favorite is probably the one I just bought: a puffin. I purchased it a couple of weeks ago on my trip to Ireland and Scotland, where I did see puffins nesting on a cliff near Sumburgh Lighthouse in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. I also bought a Highland cow and gave that to my bestie, Heidi. Happy stitching!
Happy Mother's Day!
I have won 3 needleminders...the first one came from England...an Engish stamp made into a minder. The second came from Dena, Half Stitch...a beautiful cameo, and 2 sizes from Fibertalk, a UA-cam about embroidery...and I got one with a purchase from Avlea Folk Embroidery. I don't think I've ever bought one! But I love the ones I have because they all mean something to me...
Enjoyed the floss tube. FYI - The 1823 poem by Clement Clarke Moore has the name Dunder (not Donner) for one of the Reindeer. And another Reindeer was Blixem (not Blitzen) both being Dutch names as Moore was Dutch. In an American anthology printed in the 1840s, the two names were changed to Donder and Blitzen. And have been printed as such in most books. 1949, Gene Autry recorded "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. In the song, he changed the name from Donder to Donner. And that is how we got the name Donner for one of the Reindeer. Interesting how things change over time😉 So I think each person can either use the original Dutch or Gene Autry's version. What ever makes them happy. Take Care!
Thank you for sharing the Donner/Donder history, it's so interesting how it changed over the years
I was at a stitch-in and someone heard I liked Star Wars and gave me a needleminder that said..."Punch it Chewy!" It's well made and I appreciated how nice her gesture was. I came home, stopped across the street to show my niece, and came straight to my house. The needleminder was nowhere to be found. I was so upset. and searched for days. She looked around her house, I checked the street, the car...nothing. Finally, I pulled out the piece I was working on so I could continue stitching on it, and there was the needleminder. Caught on the magnetic board, just as yours was.
Oh the number of times I've lost a needle or needleminder to the magnet board!
Beautiful quilt behind you!
Second grandson graduates this year. I have 7 straight years of graduations. Love your temperature chart!
So many gorgeous stitches! Love seeing what you two have been up to.
Carol, thanks for telling the story behind that gorgeous pendant. So unique! As to needle-minders -- I have 3 I'm fond of but never use as I find them heavy and clunky. Two are carved like faux cameos: one is a white cat silhouette on a deep blue background; the other is a pair of clasped hands (like a Cladach wring -- don't know if that's spelled correctly!). Both were given me by dear friends, one of whom is gone now. She stitched as I do, and was instrumental in getting me into quilting. The third is a metal cat with a *very* powerful magnet that makes using it a challenge. It was a gift from 2 stitchy friends a few years ago. I keep it on the metal arm of my table-top maginifier and use it to hold stray needles and a threader. My favourite minders that I use *all* the time are tiny little magnets that came by the bazillion from Amazon.
Happy Mother's day 🌺 I do not have a needle minder that is extra special. They are all just fun minders to have and use. I got a new one as a gift at our local retreat a couple weeks back. It is funny and nice that my friend got it for me.
Carol, thank you for the project bag tutorial information. My favorite needle minders that my daughter bought for me, one is a bunny & the other is a beautiful rhinestone one. I’ve made myself a few others from old pieces of jewelry that I had. Your videos are my favorite Flosstubes, you have so many beautiful projects & look forward to the next one
Thank you so much Lucia for your kind comments!
Happy Mother's Day to you both! You do have some beautiful projects and I cannot wait to see the Santa completed. I like my Scottish Terrier needle minder the best and then there are the themed ones I receive as swag at my retreat to show where I've been like Two Tall Stitchers retreat. I came from South Carolina and it was a fun drive! Looking forward to next year's retreat! Happy Stitching! Dottie
My favorite needleminder is actually a necklace. It has a round magnetic discovery that you can interchange different decorative magnets on. It would be hard to pick which is my favorite magnet. I like this style as I stitch in hand and find that a needleminder weighs down my fabric. Thanks for another great video! Stay well.
Happy Mothers Day to you both, my favorite Needle Minder is a picture of my Pomeranian that I had made into a Needle Minder 😊
Great show ladies! I watched Monday morning while working….maybe that wasn’t my most productive time. 😂 I have two favorite needleminders. 1) Hei Hei chicken (from the Disney movie Moana), because he is just a whacky little guy and I totally relate to him. 2) A sweet little fox that says “oh for fox sake” because that phrase may pop out of my mouth when a mess up.
Hi ladies. Thank you for the update. Love your finishes! Have fun at your retreat! 😊 ⚘️
I use a needle minder on my stitching frame, nowhere else. It's a circular white enamel cat with tiny flowers on it.
It's probably the same 6 who are on the high end who do chart, fabric and floss = fully kitted, akin to fully finished...
And thank you for the reference to your favorite project bag. Again, I have all the components but not actually made one yet! One day❤
I don't have many needle minders because I really don't like using them but my daughter gave me a voodoo doll one that tickles me. She also got me a notions bag that says cross stitching keeps me out of the psyche ward. Love seeing all your beautiful projects.
Haha, love the notions bag saying!
I don't have any needlemiders because I don't use them. I stitch in hand. You guys are a hoot!
Lots of fun stitches! Both of your Lizzie Kate's are looking great! I don' t know how you find time for stitch May-nia! Happy stitching!
Everything on my stitching tray seems to be magnetized so it’s never hard to find my needles. Enjoyed everything especially the quilt behind you.
My favorite needleminder is a wooden disc, about the size of a quarter, and it has an engraving of a lighthouse. I love lighthouses, especially if it’s one you can climb up to the lantern room. That makes the needleminder extra special, but I also love that it is so lightweight. I don’t want anything that will make my very taut fabric sag.
Thanks for sharing 🎉
I love stitching words too and my thoughts on white is if it's not on white fabric, it is not so bad.
Very colorful stuff today!! Carol, a purple backing!!! We're going to get to turned on to the dark side, LOL. My favorite needleminder cannot be mentioned, but it's the spin dial one that you saw at retreat. Hope you both had a wonderful Mother's Day. Terri
😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for all the info on Rondo! ❤️ Happy Mothers Day to you both!
My favorite needle minders are the ones that my daughter lasered for me, I turn vacation pins to minders, and I have a couple clay ones that make me happy. It's interesting that you got those biscornu patterns. I've had them on my wish list since your SAL. I've been waiting to finish one before I buy them in case I struggle with the assembly. 😂
I started the pattern 324. Saw yours and was enabled. Enjoy watching you both.
Hooray! Isn’t it fun?
Pretty WIPs & Finishes. I say Donner too. I "think" Rogue Fabrics is the distributor for Atomic Ranch Fabrics. Fun piece to find of your Mom's work. Cool Quilts. A favorite needle minder is one I made of a hummingbird found in the jewelry section of HL I think years ago.
I cant say these are my favorite needleminders but i made two needleminders using buttons in a jar that belonger to my grandmother. According to my mother those buttons were collected my my grandmother and her mother, my great grandmother so belonged to one of them
Rogue bought out Atomic Ranch Fabrics, and release the fabrics under the Atomic Ranch name. As for Needle Minders, I have 3, 12”x 12” magnetic page frames (to display scrapbook pages) that are COMPLETELY covered!! I have 2 more such frames that I have unearthed to be hung so I can expand my collection. I LOVE needle minders… about 50% are not suitable for work (I run on sarcasm, swear words, and lots of caffeine), and the rest are buttons or other items that have been converted to needle minders. Too many memories attached to certain ones. I’ll have to look at the dates for next year’s retreats, especially April, to make sure it doesn’t coincide with Library Stitchers, if they decide to do it again. Have fun at your retreat, safe travels, see you again soon!
I made a ton of needleminders from buttons and odds and ends, so one of a kind. There's about 20 I love❤ but the Journey one is my favorite❤
Well that makes a lot of sense :)
Hello ladies! 💟☮️
Hi Allison! 🖐️
My favorite Needleminder story is one that is in progress.
My mother passed away a few years back. We put all her jewelry in a bag for us girls to go through later. I found some pieces that I liked and will turn them into needleminders.
It will be a nice way to remember mom as I stitch.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😊
Really enjoyed your Flosstube ladies. Love the Little Lamb, the Reindeers so cute and your daughters pillow. I’ve purchased many needle minders so very hard to choose one. I love making my own. I would love to find a Indiana needle minder.
Have a good week
I think we may be able to get you one at market next year Liz...will keep an eye out!
Happy Mother's Day
Wow, the J pillow turned out great and I love the backing fabric! Perfection!
And your Mom's Halloween quilt turned out fantastic❤
P.S. not finished going thru stash but I know I have snowmen for your Mom, just couldn't put my hands on before I mailed the reindeer chart...
Thank you Rebecca!
Beautiful finishes!!! The little bells in the reindeers are adorable!!! The quilts are gorgeous as always!!
My favorite needleminder shows a hedgehog falling in love with a pin cushion.
still love that Sash away All
Thank you!
🧚♀️💕
Hey, Carol, your moms embroidery is so cute! I would soak it in warm water and the cardboard should fall apart. Atomic Ranch and Rogue are the same company. Why must they have two separate names?
I work at the Cross Stitch Cupboard in Ft. Lauderdale,FL. In the past two weeks we have had two separate customers from Indianapolis who did not know of you or your store! They were both educated by me and hopefully, will be viewers and customers! Thanks for your videos!!
Thanks so much for sharing the store and our flosstube Mary!
Happy Mother’s Day to you both. Beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing.
What great finishes Love the quilts. I love Mary Englebright. Thank you for much for sharing. Love your you tube. Hugs
That temperature stitch is gorgeous! I don't use needle minders, but I do cherish my Stitch North needle minder!
Happy Mother's Day!
I stitch in hand, so I do not use needle minders. I’m sorry I missed the one about kitting! I love to kit, and have fabric and thread in most! I fall into the upper register with how many; somewhere between 85-100!!
Hi ladies, another great video. When I stitch with Whisper thread I do the bottom leg of the stitch with DMC and then I cross it with one or two strands of whisper depending on the count of the cloth. Hope this helps because the end result is worth it.
Thanks Cathy - that's a great idea!
Love your video - it's always fun to see what you two have been up to. I like it when you surprise each other with your finishes. Happy Mother's Day to both of you.
I don't use needle minders. I stick my needle in the upper right corner of my project.
Happy Mother's Day! Watching and visiting with you was a nice part of my celebration.
You two are a joy. Thanks for sharing your time with us. I hope you each had a happy, blessed Mother's Day. ❤
What a productive couple of weeks you two have had! Happy Mother's Day - so happy that you have each other! Can't really see my needleminders anymore because they have so many needles on them!!! Anyone else do this?? 😯😳
I stitch in hand and don't need a needle minder , however, because I have a heart device/pacemaker, it would be dangerous to have a magnet near my chest so I couldn't use one anyway!!
I don’t have any needle minders 😮. I only work on one project at a time and have a coco knits magnetic board with magnets that hold my pattern so I use those as needle minders.
Donner is the German word for thunder. Blitzen is German for lightning. So, you have Thunder and Lightning for reindeer names!
I love that!
To both of you: Happy Mother's Day
I love all my needle minders. If I had to choose one it would be my Casper the friendly ghost. He is eating gum balls and as he eats them they come out his butt. 🙂
Haha, that sounds funny!
Happy Mother’s Day. Hope u really enjoy ur day
I would have a hard time picking a favorite needle minder. The one i'm using now says Oops I stitched it again.
Way to go, Carol! You are getting so many quilts completed💥💥💥I don’t have any real input for the needle minder question. I have a few, and used them when I used hoops / qsnaps. Now that I stitch in hand, I don’t use them. You mentioned sulky 12wt several times. Do you use one strand on larger count fabrics? I love to stitch with just one strand on 40ct. I would love to find an option for stitching on 32ct or 28ct with one strand. Thank you for sharing!💚
Thanks for the love on the finished quilts, we are so glad she's getting them done! We do use one strand of Sulky - I think it is a little better on 32 count - I can bring some for you to try next week if you'd like :)
Hi. CICI from Ohio. Hope I can share a pic
Sorry. Trying to share a pic I took off MY TV from third rock from the sun
Harry is wearing a Harry Styles shirt
Hi Carol. I think I owe you five dollars.
Don’t use needle minders.
