- The Hall of Champions has many secrets some may have found, but others may have missed. Cats with dead ghosts, storage easter eggs and a hidden faction room possibly inhabited by a mysterious character. Let’s take a look.

I busted up laughing at the thought of cats actually preying on strey ghost who don't have a guardian or a guardian randomly losing light on a triple jump/float. All because some cats were bored.

My little theory is that the dilapidated "faction room" is bungie little nod to the Destiny Content Vault, since you can also fine the old "adventures" quest starters, the swords that you would find to start the old adventures.
I’d love to see a return of the adventures. Back in the OG days, I actually enjoyed those little repeatable quests.
I feel that there are 1 of 2 reasons the cats are there with dead Ghosts. 1. Cats are essentially Kleptomaniacs and will hoard different things around a home. So the Ghosts could be just that, a cats collection. 2. (Spinfoil time) It's something to do with The Nine The obvious connection of cats having nine lives and The Nine aside, There is several references to Cats through out anything Awoken, Season of the Wish has us finding star cats, there are the 9 cat statues you can give a "Small Gift" to in the Dreaming City that give an emblem called "Ennead". Ennead itself means "A group of nine", There's a ghost projection called "Ennead Projection" which show the symbols of The Nine, and the Equitis Shade Rig from Spire of Stars says "Texts about the vast ennead, trapped reaching out." which is exactly what The Nine are. The Nine also wish to be real and have physical forms and believe the Light is the way to do that.

I think that Hall of Champions is actually inside the old Tower, you can tell it by the structure itself. It has been rebuilt, that's why I suppose that room is still destroyed and in ruins.
In d2 vanilla Shax, did have you go through his armory during the assault on the tower, and Zero Hour also had you go through the tower ruins to reach a cryptarc vault so it's very likely.
The lore for (I think) Elsie’s Rifle has her and Shaxx going through the old tower and Elsie telling him what happened to specific parts in her dark future as they go.
It’s not a massive stretch to say Shaxx was there to find an entrance into his old vault.
The only flaw is that all of D2’s seasonal event decorations are there.

In that secret room, there is a table with the mark of the awoken on it, you can see the cloth and the gold markings on it. This table is actually the table that Petra Venj stood at in the D1 Y1 Queens Wrath event. Its the exact same table you can look it up.

The maps remind me of Cayde’s old treasure maps from D2’s launch. Like it’s a bunch of old things from Destiny that have been removed over the years, including Calus’ sweeper bot by the fans

I love how Bungie finally decided to answer where tf they put all the season event decorations like Dawning, Solstice and etc away before and after
I mean it’s not exactly a pressing lore question, they just put it in storage and that could be inferred from basic logic. Just a fun thing to put here in the hall to spice it up

they forgot to put colliders on pretty big parts of the walls in the room with the giant fans, the smaller fans have 0 collision and you can jump right through them.
I spent a lot of time hoping I could break my way into one of the locked weapon rooms or the shader chamber just to see if I could after reading this lol so many death barriers tho 😅
Just noticed the little table in the room is from the original d1 queens wrath event && the table propped up in the corner is the original table the vanguard were chillin by in the d1 tower
When I was there about 6 hours after launch, the cats were in different locations. Still in those hidden areas, but not same spots as captured in these clips. When I went back with a friend, again differences and the cats were also different colours then I first went there myself. Neat!
Considering I’m CONSTANTLY finding my socks in places they don’t belong, because of my cats….I absolutely believe they are up to something nefarious
Cats hoarding the ghosts reminds of d1 when we would find random ghost shells to collect.
@ 2:33 I couldn't find the cat, so I jumped to the wall on the left, to the grill above the fans...and slipped out of the main room, into a glitch room, which is actually behind the mirror in the Faction Room (yeh, Dead Orbit! lol)...and then I found myself outside of the game architecture; I could see structures from the outside-looking in, including the sweeper bot fan area.
I know there be Guardians who love this sort of stuff...to explore...but, not for this old tortoise! I took pics and some vid, too! Cheers!

the same brown "map" pages are scattered around the tower at some of the old investigate locations.
Considering Zero Hour is in a part of the city wall it could be something to do with that, like Eris is allowing us to go through our memories to access The Whisper but maybe Zero Hour is a bit more corporeal in how its relevant again
Holding out hope of tower is gonna return. Perhaps we need to relive zero hour along with other guardians reliving other memory's to get schematics or something.
another neat thing is in that space behind the super black "orb" you can occasionally find a cat with a cosmic beer stein
I heard someone say this social space is part of the old tower, i guess thats how the old D1 kiosk screens as well as the jukebox is there, it also explained the damage.
It even kinda looks like the area at the beginning of the red war campaign just before you reach the burning hangar when they open the door for you and cayde runs through with golden gun
The window behind the superblack shader, sometimes Shaxx's coffee cup is on the window ledge in the middle.
that area is a d1 storage area, it has the queen's wrath table, vanguard table, kiosks, jukebox, etc
I knew a bungie secret when I saw it. I was thinking that perhaps in the future we can interact with the old D1 archive terminal.
9:37 It looks more like the banner for the dead orbit was originally from the previous banner. Look at the fingers and the wrist bend. The Concordat is dead orbit but not with the same people and such but reminiscent of the old.
Fun fact: That table in the faction room is the one from the Queen’s Wrath event from D1.

Off topic but i definitely think that into the light's Brave arsenal and Tech is Project Stronghold that Ada-1 was working on with Lakshmi-2 back in Season of the splicer, all the weapons have the black Armory tech effect, not only that but under shax in the into the light vendor space there are Black armory crates under him

There's another place a cat will sit as soon as your enter the main hall area on the left. I found it sitting in on eof the chairs on the immediate left as soon as you enter the hall
a battle with the concordat could be interesting, it's essentially a human civil war
Y’know, the skimmer challenge description from the ‘24 guardian games had a quote from Eva(?) that they were gifts from a mystery benefactor, stated to have been in “an odd shade of green”…
Off topic but I just noticed in the new final shape gameplay video as soon as it starts you can see the Witness's face within the darkness/pyramid storm
Yeah when I watched the actual reveal stream I didn't see it, but then I watched the reupload on youtube and noticed it straight away

3:30 Dead Orbit is going to play a major part in Final Shape (insider leak)
In the room before the dead faction room. The fan vents don't have collision and you can get out of map, just like the vents in the first part of the hall.
That map has clear numbers. We should look into these locations. it might hint at a new location to find and discover parts of the story and be introduced in upcoming dlc.
Maybe. The last emote we got in the bright dust store before into the light was, "follow the map".
I do want to note this, where he saw the Kiosks from D1, there's a table from the Awoken of the Reef that looks...VERY similar to one you'd find either on your way to Petra back in the Reef outpost, or something else. but I don't know how Shaxx got that, and it worries me that it's there. First I loaded in and looked behind the super black container thing and there was a cat sitting right on the edge looking out the window. Idk if this means anything just thought I'd share
In the place where you can look out into the open space with stairs and platforms, there was a cat standing next to a stein mug the first time I was there. But it had disappeared
I saw people out of bounds behind the superblack shader last night.
I was there lol. They have a kill barrier virtually all around the super black. Tried above, side, below and no luck :p.

The dead ghost shells are probably referencing the dead ghosts from D1 that unlocked grimoire cards. They had to be stored somewhere.
The cat moves around the hall of guardians every time you load in. Saw it with a coffee mug behind that black blob thing behind shaxx, on thr windowsill
Friend found the faction room and called me on discord minutes after i left bc he was freaking out that there was nothing online about anyone finding it yet
Only real ones always saw the grimuare card notification in D1 and NEVER had a clue what it was
Imagine a mission where, literally from the tower, we can jump down to the city, and then get outside the walls
What are the swords with the orange hilts and shields with orange outlines from? And what are the skulls from?
Also there are classic Phalanx shields in the back right of the room, pretty cool
3:13 dude that circular object is the jukebox from the Destiny 1 music room! Why haven't we gotten a music room in D2?!

We did have the one in the Eliksni district for a bit
Also we also had one on the tangled shore but it was a lost sector

The cats are instance-bound I think if you reload the instance they move
there are like 5 or 6 locations with 2 cats in each instance. I don't think it is a DEAD ghost but actually a ghost toy like the ones near the secret room
You can OoB out of the Hall Of Champions from the bottom fan to the left of where the vent tunnel is to Sweeperbot. There's nothing crazy to see OoB except for a room full of weapons to the right of the main hall Shaxx is in. Theres a kill wall between it though so you can get to it. Theres also a kill wall right behind the Superblack shader area, so you can't explore that back room either.

You missed a couple cats but other then that I haven’t found anything I have searched every inch of the place and I’m excited to see what they bring in the following weeks
There's also a cat in the main room close to the stairs.
Certainly feels like the hidden room doubles as a Portal reference.
The pipes and zavala room according to Froggy are probably dev play areas where they store and play with assets
So interesting thing: the cat wasn't there because he was somewhere else in the building. We found him behind the tank shaxx is in front of as well. Not sure where else but he does move

I feel like it's the same cat and he's roaming around. He's always either under Shaxx, by his bowl, or up in the rafters.
I'm amazed I didn't see anything about SRL while exploring there.
2:48 Thats the same cat as the one under the platform and the ghost has specific designs on it unlike the ones in this portion of the area. Maybe the cat is changing locations and such based on things we do or something.
It definitely changes locations. In the hidden room, the cat wasn't there but it was there in the room under shaxx. There's also a chance for a cat to be behind the machine where super black is at
FWC was only faction to be heavily involved with a season ? It would be nice to see dead orbit or new monarchy come back in some degree.
Is that sweeping robot an Alien 3 easter egg do you think. The one were the alien blinds that dude in the tunnel and he falls into the fans. Very similar angles and look to it and random place for a cleaning bot.

the leader of dead orbit was planning his leave their whole mission/philosophy is outer exploration so when they disbanded they left the system
The next logical direction after the end of the light and darkness saga is for us to actually start infighting.
If the factions return, if the Concordat exposes something about the Vanguard or the Last City. If Zavala, Ikora, and Cayde end up disbanding the Vanguard.
We also have the Nine who have yet to really take center stage. The Drifter and Dredgen Yor. There really are countless ways that humanity could end up in a war with itself, and countless different sides we could find ourselves in that war.
Imagine the Crucible no longer exists, but instead Guardians end up fighting other Guardians depending on their faction allegiance. Patrol zones become PvP-enabled, or have areas with PvP. Maybe the "Tower" or whatever social space we have is a neutral territory where fighting is prohibited, but elsewhere, you always have to keep your eyes open and be wary for other Guardians, in addition to the regular threats we face.
Something I really wish Bungie would explore with Destiny, but have yet to, is a conflict where we're NOT all on the same side. Faction rallies would then become less about novelty and frivolity, and more about a constant power struggle after the Witness is defeated and the Vanguard disbands, creating a power vacuum.
The cat locations are not set in stone. I' have the one under Shaxx too, but in the secret room mine is not by the pile of ghosts, it's up to the right on a ledge
That cat is a KEEPER. He's keeping the sleeping Ghosts safe.

Interesting... that's the second recent reference to the Concordat faction. A faction that has always been in the lore but was disbanded before the events of the game. That's a dilberate insertion, but why now? And to what end?
Whoever it is has managed to gide out there for a long ass time. Possibly years. Completely hidden and unnoticed.
Then our kleptomaniac, nosy, loot goblin of a guardian was given access to the area and we found their hideout in hours.

With all the dead ghosts and maps I’d like to think that broken down area belongs to the guardian who kills ghosts before they get to their new guardians
If you ask me the cat is really creepy. His spawn point moves around and the fact thst hes collecting ghosts shells scares me. What form would be better to stand watch and 'Witness' the hall of champions?

You can glitch out of the map by going into the wall to the right when you’re standing next to the sweeper bot
Hopefully that faction room gives us the exscuse to get all the faction gear again. I want those new monarchy ornaments, i want that mk14 ebr
I wonder if when the seasonal events drop, the decorations for them disappear from the storage area.
You can glitch off the map if you jump through the fan on the top left at 3:00, just jump through it.

The cat and the dead ghost spawn when you get to the hall of champion the first time in the quest when you fallow the robot
It looks like all the old default shells every guardian throws away. Maybe the kitties get them.
The cats have random locations that changes every instance in the social space.
I like watching the lore for Destiny overall, but I just can't bring myself to get back into the game anymore.

Could the secret room not be the home of Arach Jalall, Dead Orbits vendor at the tower. Possibly where he planned escape from the darkness after giving up hope from the Traveller?
