That is a fascinating watch. Before you showed the overlapping hands I thought “Why would anyone make a seconds only chronograph?” The perfect alignment of the chrono seconds and minutes hands is a nice surprise when it starts running.
@@colin7932 If you contact LIW or other US retailers, they might accommodate your request. I spotted a modded DC80 on the WUS Damasko forum. Had a blue minute counter and a black damest bezel. One of the other retailers quoted me a price if I wanted the same price. Would take about 6 weeks to arrive from Damasko.
You mentioned the price and that some might be turned off by what Damasko is asking for. I'm quite sure that you understand, but I'll reassure your viewers that this watch is actually a tremendous value when compared to other brands with similar features. The obvious watch that it compares to is the Sinn EZM 1.1. And while that is a great watch in its own right, the Damasko value becomes much more obvious when the two are stacked against each other. You can say that the Damasko movement is much more interesting, the case hardening much better, the size more wearable, and the price much more attainable. Some will argue that the case shape and dial on the Sinn are better, but aesthetics are a personal thing. I love this watch, and while the green model doesn't do it for me (although it looks great in your video on wrist), I will get one down the road, most likely a blacked out Damest model, or the very cool two tone version, which I hope to see LIW selling sometime soon. Mark's review was excellent. Seeing that chrono action, especially when the minute changes, was very cool. I also like that I got to see how it wears on my very similarly sized wrist. It's funny how you notice how others wear watches. I tend to slide the watch up towards my elbow. I don't like when the crown stabs into the back of my hand.
Comment on Damasko quality: Got my DA46 at the time when Brexit was announced. Bought it from Page and Cooper at very good exchange rate right at the lowest point for GBP. Since that time it has been with me through everything - aerobatic flights on small planes, doing many outdoor activities around New Zealand (Tongariro Crossing, Mt Taranaki walks etc.) and of source the tough day-to-days at the office. I can tell you one thing though - if you are to get it, then get it without the top anti-reflective coating. Top coating will get scratched. To me the difference in appearance and readability is insignificant, but having scratches on the crystal won't make you happy. Overall watch scored amazingly well for elabore movement. Right now it loses circa 1 minute per week, which is ok taken in consideration the amount of beeting it has been subjected to...
I own the ds30 and dc66 (with damaskos steelbraclet). Absolutly great watches. Because of the special surfacetreatment they look like new after months or years. You forget to mention damaskos "triplock" system which is wonderful! Greetings!
This is now my new grail, I will have you, my precious lol thanks Mark, love the channel, and love your website. Thanks for adding a Canadian site for all us watch addicted Canucks.
Very interesting watch to modify Valjoux 7750 to be like that. As you said, it is much easier to read (chrono) and it is something different than many other 7750 movement watches. However, the price tag is bit tough to accept for new brand like Damasko. thanks for the review. enjoyed it.
I think it’s really cool Damasko rejiggered the old ‘7750 as a central minute counter chrono. Now for some 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon separation: Nomos Tangente > Tissell 38mm Bauhaus Design 9015 auto (no small seconds, but everything else looks crazy close.) And the A-13A Pilot Watch ( a-13a.com ) also adds a central minute/seconds counter chrono to a wrist-sized A-13 recreation (albeit quartz)
Hey Mark, excellent review (as always). I'm a huge fan of your channel. I bought a Marathon JSAR and TSAR from you over a year ago an still wear them all the time (especially the JSAR). Damasko makes some very interesting and well-built watches. I hope to get a Damasko DC66 Si as it is my favorite watch they make. Keep the great content coming!
Could also pay attention to where the hour hand is when you start, say it's at 5 when you start, then when you stop it's at 7, then you would know it's 2 hours, plus however many minutes
I go hiking using the watch. I set the custom requested 12 hr bezel, pip, on my start time, hour hand, and track stop times on the chronograph. When I reach a route point I zero the chrono and adjust the bezel. When I reach my destination I know how long it took. Very flexible
Nice watch, it's interesting you're getting into higher end pieces. Still loved my last purchase of the flight master, tossed a NATO on it, till I can bring it into the mall to have the band sized correctly.
I’ve been waiting for some of these to hit the second hand market, the price tag when new is a bit more than it’s worth to me. Though I do understand why damasko priced it there being a brand new model and heavily modified movement.
Hi Mark. I don't know if you've done a segment on a flying tourbillon type watch. I looked through you list of videos. And I didn't see it. If you have, please let me know. I would love to see it. If not, maybe you could do a segment on a flying tourbillon watch. Cheers!
Nice Damasko, but very nice Squale you keep flaunting. Just a tad out of my price range to justify purchasing, as I would end up wearing it at work, much the same as all my other watches. No safe queens here at my estate. I do forsee another Seiko in the near future, though; no one can seem to hold a light (no pun intended) to the Superlumanova on my Seiko. My SKX is the benchmark for all my watches. I wish my new Karlskrona would at least match my SKX. If Seiko would only update their movement to hand wind and hack in their SKX models, I'd probably only have an assortment or SKX colors in my wardrobe. (Still sad that they won't bring back the SKXA35.)
Not a tough sale I have sinn ezm10 which has a similar min counter for more than twice the price which I still think is a value so for all the tech in the crown and pushers along with the movement and case great value
It’s a lot like the Sinn EZM. From what I can gather, the Sinn functions in the exact same way, including the way it advances the minute accumulator. Heck, the mission timer hand even looks the same (little airplane-looking hand.) I have to say, although this watch looks nice, Sinn does it better.
Love the look of the watch eeven though I have never heard of the brand. I probably would by one but for that price I will need to do some more research. Great video and review but I think you need some jewellery gloves hahahaha..
Since Sinn also have a central minute and second chronograph (movement sz01) I wonder if they have some special relationship with Damasko, they seem to have other technologies in common too like the hardening for example
There was a relationship with Sinn (well spotted). The following taken from Wikipedia: Until their partnership ended in 2002, Damasko was a supplier of hardened watchcases to Sinn.[4]

Really cool, isn't it???
do some omega chronostops have seconds only chronographs?
these Damaskos are like German cars of the '60s and '70s - rugged tanks - understated and more capable than the flashy competition
The Sinn EZM 10 with the SZ-01 movement offers the central minutes counter I own and it is a great feature
This would be great with a 12-hour bezel. Set the pip at the hour hand and track hours that way.
Right on.
Already there, I got mine with the 12hr bezel. Just ask and you'll get it.
@@robertbernier7927 I don't think there are any retailers offering the 12hr bezels right now, at least that I can find for the U.S. market.
@@colin7932 the Damasko website says you can choose and that's what I did, I asked for a customization.

Wow I love what Damasko did with that Valjoux 7750 movement.
Cool right?!?!?
Long Island Watch Yup!
I was able to pic a DC80 up pre owned ( they rarely come up for sale). Love it...tank of a watch and i actually use a chrono with this watch.
I'm saving up for a Damasko. Excellent watches!
Nice to see a modern central minute totalizer chrono like the old Tissot Navigator..
Very nice watch and a typically excellent presentation. This Damasco is nothing I'd spend that kind of money on, but I'm sure plenty of people will.
Very nice to look at, none the less.
Nice Chrono, very unique.
But, that Nomos of yours steals the show for me.
Thanks! I love it, rarely wear it.
What a gorgeous watch! Thanks for reviewing it, Marc. Damasko is on my bucket list.
Thanks Eddie!

Thanks Robert. No denying they're good looking.
I held up my Squale Matic Blue (that I got from you) the same time you did! A fleeting, weird UA-cam moment.
Nice!
Marc, Damasko encourages customization. Refer to my comments when I use my 12hr bezel to track travel times in the Cascades here in Washington state

Nice Review :) May I ask how to adjust the time for the watch? It has no second hand, so it hardly can set time exactly, I guess
Perhaps you could move the bezel round to the one position after one hour and so forth to time longer events.
Or align the bezel's 0 with the hour hand when you start timing
Gordon Anderson just what I was thinking. Lovely timepiece
Good idea. No, great idea!!!!

Some questions, is the cross hair design purely for asthetics ? And is tegiment harder than ice hardened steel ?
This looks good! A different chronograph!
Totally Cool!

I have a Sinn like this; you get used to it.
Long Island Watch is it on your webpage so I can have a look at that?
Damn you Marc. 😁 You keep taunting me with that Squale...it keeps calling me 😭😭

Case to me look almost identical to Tudor Pelagos if you exclude the chronograph pushers.

My initials are DC and my birth year is 1980... I need this watch! 😂👉
Compared to anything coming out of Glashutte, Demasko and Sinn are steals for the amount of engineering you get.
Marc are you getting the DC66 at all?
Very informative another great video. 👍
Thank you sir!
I doubt many people would use a chronograph watch ti time things over an hour anyway.
