Honestly his death caught me by surprise, I never realized that I wanted Xehanort to reunite with Eraqus until I've seen this scene, very well done indeed...

I never heard a single "I forgive you" directed towards Xehanort. I don't know what the hell people are talking about when they say everyone forgave him.

People overreacted like hell with this ending. Nobody forgave him, he didn't 'go to heaven', nothing. He was beat, convinced by his lifelong friend out of a pointless last-ditch effort, and died(KHDR just confirms that the way he went is also another way of showing people die, since his friends ended up in the Underworld).

Indeed. He also never asked for forgiveness, nor did he apologize for what he did.
He merely failed, lost and was convinced to accept defeat before succumbing to death.

That had to be hard for him. All the things he's done, the pain he's inflicted and the friends he betrayed. He went all the way to the end, and lost.
Sucking it up and admitting it was his time to move on, and to let the next generation decide their own destiny.

It blew my mind that, unlike ansem and xemnas, his two other counterparts, did what they didn't do...... Gave up and did what was right................. This scene blew my mind that this is the way the main bad of the series at the time went out......... Awesome..... Purely awesome........ Very well done.

I’d like to think that as Xehanort gave Sora the X-Blade, he considered Sora as a Keyblade Master. Maybe someday, Sora will pass that exam.
    Rest In Peace Rutger Hauer

Xemnas and Dark Ansem are embodiments of him. But Young Xehanort and Master Xehanort are HIM. They have morals. Such a compelling villain/character

I didn’t realise how much KH fans are so emotional when it comes to what he did. I mean yes MX had done a lot of bad things but it has never come to a point that I hated him per se. I respected at his tenacity and how much of true Master of the Keyblade he had become and considering his age, to be able to still fight like that and caused a lot of trouble to someone with a young energy like Sora is truly remarkable. And like Xehanort said himself, he would rather do everything himself. I truly respect him for that. What a great villain,

The ends don’t justify the means. I assume when Sora goes up against the MOM, they will also try to humanize him. To make us believe he did all this for the right reasons.

Xehanort and Sora. Both keyblade wielders from Destiny Islands, The X-Blade inherited down from one who strive for its power to control the darkness to one worthy to use its power to protect the light.

Funny you should mention that. I knew all along his voice had changed, but not for one second did I think that he wasn't Xehanort. Rutger made Xehanort his own voice, and yet kept Xehanort alive. Was truly an incredible performance.

Cant desceibe how happy i waa when i saw this.cutscene. Kingdom Hearts fans were waiting for this moment after Xehenort was introduced to us in KH2, and later BBS. Sadly it took 20 years for Tetsuya Nemura to move his ass and finish production. The 20 year wait was worth it though.

    It's odd.
It's alluded to with Ansem (SoD) as well, but I kinda feel sad to finally see him go.
I, along with so many others have been following the story of this villain and fighting against him, that in a weird way, it really is like saying goodbye to an old friend. He always had another plan, another ploy, an out, or a twist to keep our game going... But after so many years and iterations, he finally admitted defeat.
Can't wait to see where the series goes next, but it will be different without Xehanort leading the helm for the bad guys.

No one ever forgave xehanort nor he was a good guy!
He was a villain that thought he could decide for the whole world and he lost!
The reason they needed him to make peace is only to prevent him to find another way to return!
