I am Swedish, I use it as my daily driver! And I actually use it to transport a smaller film set as I run my own Film Company. If you live in a bigger city it is amazing. Your missing out on one of the biggest storage areas in a twizy, to the left and right of the seat. I am CERTAIN, you can fit your wheels there.
I owned one for a year and communted to work 7 mile each way everyday. Only had 3 days in the whole year that I didn't use it. Oh! and I didn't have any any windows. Yes I did have doors though. I even drove it back from the Lake district about 100 miles with some careful charge planning. Loved owning it.
Yep, made me smile, though not the the thought of owning one. Oh, and cheers to your missus for being the ultimate good sport, and your daughters response was priceless. 👍
sounds like fun you hold the mosquito down while I run his testicles over test out if that's true or not if your not sure of my driving you can tie the mosquito down so long as it stays still so I can run them over
Man, I could have watched a whole video of you just washing it. You and the missus are so funny together. And your daughter was NOT going in that thing. I did lol. Very Clarksonesque test. Loved it.
Funniest video I have seen in a long time. You are hilarious leafman. British comedy has always been the best. You should have a show on tv . Your missus is great fun too, you’re both well matched.
The twizy needs to be tuned, without tuning it’s not fun, With tuning it’s a go kart and a huge amount of fun. I use mine every day even if I don’t have to!
I have a Twizy and use it for food delivery. I wish I had a roof box for it. Loose the windows and wear a coat. I pick up my son from school in it. The kids say it’s sick.
Nice commentary young man. Love the accent too. Somewhere in Yorkshire. I'm from Hull, lived in Oz for 45 years, and we don't get the Twizy here sadly...
I live in the United States, and so of course I drive a pickup truck, I couldn't imagine living with this thing. I drive a 2005 chevy Colorado with an extended cab (which isn't even very big for a pickup truck) and I can just throw things in the back without even thinking about the size. I once managed to fit a go cart in the back of it. But with this thing, if you plan to carry anything, size always has to be a consideration, and most of the things I carry on a regular basis, simply won't fit. Now while the car is pretty entertaining to look at, I never plan on getting one. And also, the 50 mph speed cap on it, isn't enough for me, every day I take a highway with a speed limit of 70 mph, and I would probably get pulled over a lot if I went that slow. And not to mention, if it could go 70 mph, I wouldn't feel even remotely safe going that speed. And the weather here in America is RUTHLESS, especially in the summer. No heating OR a/c? No thanks.
I drive a 2016 Leaf SL in Kitchener, near Toronto, Canada, and have appreciated your honest (and often humorous) take on the world of EV driving. Long overdue thanks to you for the time and effort you put into this material, and for the valuable contribution you make to the community of existing and prospective EV drivers. Thanks especially for this hilarious video!
In France, Belgium, and other countries, the Twizy is not a car. She is in an other category of vehicle. She is cheaper for assurances, taxes, can be used at 14-16y old, safer than a bicycle. It's great.
😂😂😂. 😆😆😆. Dude just put extra cushion in the seat. What's the harm in that. It's quirky but it gets the job done and hard to dislike. I want one so bad but I live in the US. It's complicated 😪. I could get a lot done in a 40 mile radius of my house easily.
I couldn't do anything, I live WAY out in the middle of nowhere. The closest city to where I live is over 10 miles away. Hell, the nearest gas station is over 6 miles away. (I know it's not necessary with this car but I'm just using it as a point of reference) and there are no ev charging stations anywhere near where I live. It's at least 50 miles to the closest one.
Your wife is an absolute gem to put up with this...errr, actually a SAINT! 😇 lol. I sure hope you took her out to a nice dinner (and dancing, and afternoon tea, and a mani-pedi, and shopping...) after this. Hilarious video!
This has to be your best video you've uploaded andy especially the police and tyre moment ;) very funny! Ps dealership called this afternoon (Friday) and leaf is being delivered on the 9th next Friday! Don't think I'll sleep on Thursday not been this excited since buying my first new ice vehicle, same colour same manufacturer over 30 years ago a black Nissan micra ;)
Ha thank you for doing this video, I had a Twizy as my only car for over two years and this just brought back loads of good memories :). It was great fun to own and everyone that I drove past had something to say about it. I lived near the centre of Manchester and all my driving was within the Greater Manchester urban area so it fit my needs perfectly. I only gave it up because my circumstances changed and it wasn't as practical for me anymore. I've got a Zoe these days and while it's a lot more practical it'll never be as much fun as the Twizy.
Splendid stuff - thanks for uploading! I've seen a few Twizy videos; I've read their PDF brochures... But I've yet to see a single Twizy in my travels. They just don't sell in Britain, because... Well, you know why they don't sell. They're a gadget for bored rich people - a lifestyle fidget-spinner - like those stupid £400 smart-watches with pulse monitors and calorie counters and multiple reminders and timers for when to stop steam-cooking that revolting Morrissey-friendly vegan fungus-burger, and a calendar that lets you pretend that you're far too busy to turn up for your Pilates class at the gym, the membership fee for which is more money than most people will see in a year. The Twizy is a bad joke. Nobody's laughing with you, Renault; they're laughing AT you. The battery-hire situation is disastrous for anybody hoping to get into EV ownership on a budget. And the overall tech seems to have been left behind by current trends (hey, that was supposed to be an EV joke). And the basic price is 5x too high. And it needs to be weatherproofed. And it needs to - Oh, what's the point. Shut up, Elli - nobody cares. The Twizy is just one more brilliant alternative to life with a crummy old bicycle (mine's worth about £30) that fails to tick any boxes unless you're rich and want a cute toy to play with. Exactly like the Swiss-German-teutonic TWIKE, which is even more ludicrous, because it costs tens of thousands of quid. The latest TWIKE (it's basically a chic, pedal-assist EV, don't forget) will cost from £30,000 up to £50,000 for the top of the range. Sure, it's weatherproof, but that price is INSANE. You could buy a tiny terraced house round where I live for fifty grand. A whole bloody HOUSE. You could buy a 3-litre 160 mph sports car for £50,000, and they want that for a sodding recumbent BIKE with a plastic bag on its head? Surely some big manufacturer can do better than that! Nissan? Honda? BMW? VW? Peugeot? Ford? People like me - that is, POOR PEOPLE - want and need an EV that costs no more than £1,000. A glorified golf cart? Fine! I don't care! Sell me one for a grand, like they do in China! Screw crash-safety ratings - I ride a bike, so my bum's a crumple zone and my boobs are my airbags. One thousand ruddy pounds sterling, please, and with no battery-hire con tacked onto it. Surely... But no. All the big names - even cash-rich Tesla - HATE the idea of mass-produced, cheap EVs. Tesla only wants wealthy people in its cars to avoid harming the brand image by having scumbags and plebs enjoying their lovely posh shiny toys. It's a caste and class issue. And every other manufacturer is holding back on making a cuddly cheap pushbike alternative because sales of their own stupidly expnsive EV cars (£40,000+) would suffer. Boo hoo. Oh, and they HATE the idea of EVs in general because each one they sell kicks a bloody great big hole in their petrol and diesel car sales figures. Sigh. Perhaps something really cheap will be developed in China. (They won't be allowed to export them without adding £15,000 to the price, of course... Unfair competition? Well don't whine about it, O-thou mighty westen manufacturers - COMPETE!) Chinese firms don't give a toss about selling smaller numbers of their big cars to rich buggers as long as they can also sell millions of ultra-cheap crappy ones to the impoverished masses as well. Meanwhile... I'm still pedalling my bike through another lovely British summer. I'm wrapped up well because I'm in the north of England and it's stormy and it's hailing. Yuk. Bring on the Chinese golf buggies, I say.
If you buy a house with a lease hold you are as stupid as buying a Twizy with a battery lease people should do community car share insurance share really mess up insurance and rental companies but really help street conjestion parking in fact if communities got together in planning structures just think what could be achieved instead of electing a Twatt to make a mess for you for soft money.
I wish Australia could get some of these awesome vehicles. There's so much Nanny State nonsense going on even the Smart cars were held under tight scrutiny here.
I have a Twizy in my car lineup, I love it and even tuned it. Covered it in some of my videos. Love your videos btw, found it when thinking about a Leaf.
Have to say....that was brilliant fun.😊 Now....whilst you still have the Twizy...can I ask you to try something please? I'm contemplating getting one. I think it's possible to easily switch speedo/milometer between MPH/KMH and back. Apparently you.. 1) With 'ignition' off, press and hold button on end of right hand stalk. 2) Turn on ignition key and keep holding button. Display should flash for about 3 seconds and then set to new units..ie KMH. Release button when flashing stops. 3) Same procedure to return to MPH Would you be able to give it a quick try for me please? Renault Ireland say 'yes' it's possible. Local dealer says ' No.' (But then they've never seen one.) I'd be bringing one in from UK so would live to know. If you can...thanks. Good luck with the next trip!
Brilliant! Captures the joy (and minor, fun pain) of being a Twizyer! (Just made that up.) But.. doors, windows..? Who needs 'em! Been out when its been stair-rodding (ask your Gran) down and just got my outer arms a bit wet. But a totally great celebration of Twizyness (just made that up too.) Many thanks and truly well done!
Looked like a fun episode to film. Great to see the Fam on here also! Everyone would be happy if we all had Twizzies, , but everyone would have severe spine injuries due to the rough ride! :D
You sir have balls of adamantium to drive around in that matchbox skateboard after seeing your exploits I think I shall stick to my swb 4x4, but a truely interesting upload none the less o and your daughter was very sensible not wanting to go in it.😂
Ha ha, very funny but informative at the same time, I think I'll stick to my Leaf 😅. Is this your first marriage ?😂. Great honest review and mighty crack at the same time 👍. My daily commute is on rough roads in the west of Ireland, and to believe I nearly bought a Twizy ...... there is a God!
when I lost my classic car business due to a major stroke , I considered buying a twizzy, luckily a Nissan ENV200 van came up for not much more money and its been fantastic....however I still hanker after one of these weird machines.....just as a play thing not for carrying tyres or washing the wife....lol
It's a excellent car, but they should simple upgrade it. The doors without windows is really confusing. Why would someone create 2 doors really 1 door with windows could be so much better. Many people are also with their privacy stuffs and also when they are doing shopping, they can't carry with them along. And about the heating for the cold and even for cooling they could attach some solar system on the roof.
Its really difficult to convey just how much fun a Twizy is. We had one on holiday on an off road 30 mile excursion and really miss it. Thanks for this. Look forward to your 200 mile twizy trip, cant be any harder than James 400 odd mile trip surely. (James and Kate youtube channel) Thanks.
the day that it has removable batteries in 1 seconds and it is smaller than 80 cm wide (yes rules for parking on the motorcycle parking places for free) like a big scooter as well... I ll go for it !
the optional doors don't seem to fit - how can they supply them when they have massive gaps in. It also doesn't look very safe on the road... surely they are not legal on the motorway!
Good vidéo and Nice car, but the Windows should be closed very well becuz they will stool it especially here in north Africa and where is the climatiseur the A/C here its so hot and where is the music and the Bluetooth.... Where is all that ? Renault want U to Just sit down and accelerate
Of course, we miss the entire point of the Twizy as we do not live in France, and are not 14 years old. That's the target market at basic level. Our lousy laws force kids to ride bicycles in preference to the Twizy, tell me that's safer?!
about 1000 times cheaper a bike... lets face it.... this is for the starbucks crowd that likes to think they are saving the planet and only ever intend to nurture a cat
Its a great fun car but i wouldn`t have to drive it daily in the winter. As a second or third car it is simply perfect. Its actually more a motorbike with 4 wheels and a roof…
Excellent review and very well presented. I've owned a Twizy for 3 years and whole heartily agree with your review. I have more fun in my Twizy than most vehicles I've owned over dozens of years & if Renault introduced an updated version, sorted out leasing of battery issue, then they may just have a real winner on their hands. Here's a walk around mine: ua-cam.com/video/84cb6jpFb6s/v-deo.html
It won’t go into drive. Key in turn and immobiliser goes out but the dash won’t change to go. Battery in front 12v. Tested relay and it works in fuse panel. There’s a space for a second relay but it was empty. Main battery showing full. Any help appreciated.
I wish they'd fitted doors that actually seal it up, I think they'd have been more popular if you didn't get wet with the doors closed.
jango1968 I think it’s classed as a quad bike, perhaps full doors would have brought it into scope for full car safety regs and tests?
there are cars like aixam that are closed and they are 4wheelers as twizy
its more like classed as a wheelbarrow, its awful, less room than a moped
You can get windows so easily now, some just clip on, some fitted, but all cheap. It makes a thousand times better.
It's almost inconceivable they didn't even bother to make it water proof. Just AMAZING.
I am CERTAIN he could fit all four Twizy's wheels there.
You’re a brave man. It must be a very cold experience during the Swedish winters.

Great accent.
My dad was from Yorkshire. I never met him though.
Mind you. My mum only met him once.
maybe he´s your dad
It’s only takes once. Would be odd if she never met him also.
Your family name matches your story.
Ahhh Raino Twissy?
Dave Dickson 🤦♂️😂
I had a Twizy and loved it for over 2 years but eventually i couldn't take the cold and exchanged it for a Smart EV which i love.
I owned one for a year and communted to work 7 mile each way everyday. Only had 3 days in the whole year that I didn't use it. Oh! and I didn't have any any windows. Yes I did have doors though. Yep, made me smile, though not the the thought of owning one. Oh, and cheers to your missus for being the ultimate good sport, and your daughters response was priceless. 👍
"You can drive over a mosquito's testicles and feel that". Is ability to come up with such metaphors and descriptions kind of yorkshirman superpower?
sounds like fun you hold the mosquito down while I run his testicles over test out if that's true or not if your not sure of my driving you can tie the mosquito down so long as it stays still so I can run them over
Yes.
I own one, and this is the best description you can make about the shock absorbers
Man, I could have watched a whole video of you just washing it.
You and the missus are so funny together. And your daughter was NOT going in that thing.
I did lol.
Very Clarksonesque test.
Loved it.
Clarcson is originally from Yorkshire as well :)
“A Wife” how many have you got?
Clarksonesque ? Like Jeremy would be seen dead in a Twizzy, or with his wife (have u seen her ? Calls herself James 😂).
Poor wife. She's a keeper.
Maybe the best, most fun and enlightening car review I ever watched (-:
Funniest video I have seen in a long time. You are hilarious leafman. British comedy has always been the best. You should have a show on tv . Your missus is great fun too, you’re both well matched.
Twizy would be grate if they made a real door and twice lower price tag.
The twizy needs to be tuned, without tuning it’s not fun, With tuning it’s a go kart and a huge amount of fun. I use mine every day even if I don’t have to!
andy kirby , how do you tune it? What output did you get?
Paul von Düsseldorf you get a thing called a powerbox and plug it in to the ODBII port and it doubles the power, torque and removes the 50mph limit.
It's pretty fun without the tuning, but I can only imagine how it feels like being tuned.
@@andykirby and it drains your battery in 10 mins, right?
manaquri nope, it does 35 miles in high power mode. Most of the power is used in acceleration and your not doing that all the time.
Better than watching top gear! 😂
I have a Twizy and use it for food delivery. I wish I had a roof box for it. Loose the windows and wear a coat. I pick up my son from school in it. The kids say it’s sick.
This thing is so cool, it looks like a mars exploration rover you see in movies.
Frugality is a beautiful thing
😂 excellent video, had me in stitches all the way through. Will see you next weekend!
Nice commentary young man. Love the accent too. Somewhere in Yorkshire. I'm from Hull, lived in Oz for 45 years, and we don't get the Twizy here sadly...

20mile radius. Assuming you want to get home.

It plugs in while out too.
I couldn't do anything, I live WAY out in the middle of nowhere. The closest city to where I live is over 10 miles away. Hell, the nearest gas station is over 6 miles away. Just get an f150. Basically same thing.
Don't think I'll sleep on Thursday not been this excited since buying my first new ice vehicle, same colour same manufacturer over 30 years ago a black Nissan micra ;)
I'll be driving towards Milton Keynes in the Twizy that day!
Do you have a vezel
Your pressure washer at 6:16 sounds like a laser from star wars. The force is strong with this one, about 150 bar!
If these came to the US id buy one in a heartbeat

Give it proper doors and a roof box that can hold groceries. That would make for a fun and useful town car

The only problem is the cost and the battery lease issues....range is also pretty low.

Not enough room for supplies. I have a Tacoma and a GMC 3/4 ton long bed 4x4 for pulling and hauling. Looks like a death trap. Looks cool though.

The Twizy is an amazing idea but an awful execution if they could seal it and add some heating it will be way better
Thanks for making that. Your right. The Twizy just makes you smile. 😁
i would make me smile if he could see how many clowns can fit in this car ?
Funny vid. You know it is probably just the Yorkshire accent but your accent reminds me of.....God dare I say it... Jimmy you know who!
This made me laugh - you have a lovely family mate :)
Love the video. Would love the tizzies in Spain. Electric man, keep making the videos and remember, northern man rules...... OK.
I could actually use a Twizy, it's just about enough for my needs. Unfortunately the price is just silly for what you get so I won't get one.
£8K + £2k to rent the battery over 3 years
they are quite cheap second hand, i'm almost tempted to get one
They’ll be cult cars one day and go for £1000s - remember the orange Bond car in the 70s?
Loved watching this. The song at the end too lol 👌
Very entertaining report.
Those doors may as well not be their
Sounds a very similar experience to driving a motorcycle. Does it cost like a bike?
Well done - Mrs Leaf Man ! LOLling around here.
Question is........are you allowed to “filter” like motorcycles do?
My similar vehicle doen't leak. I've driven it in heavy down pours and no leaks.
I use one of these to carry my golf clubs. The only difference is that it seats two.
Great fun Andy loved it
Great first (I think) try on the part of Renault. Twizy tweaks can get it in line.
the day that it has removable batteries in 1 seconds and it is smaller than 80 cm wide (yes rules for parking on the motorcycle parking places for free) like a big scooter as well... I ll go for it !
What's the price of a Twizzy..It seems like fun to drive.
I like the british humor.-also from other british twizy-presenters.
Tbh, that shows true love!
the optional doors don't seem to fit - how can they supply them when they have massive gaps in.
It also doesn't look very safe on the road... surely they are not legal on the motorway!
They’re as legal as a bike would be.
Twist...cute. Wife...saintly!
I have a 14 year old convertible smart car. Similar experience! Great fun but not a smooth journey!
Good vidéo and Nice car, but the Windows should be closed very well becuz they will stool it especially here in north Africa and where is the climatiseur the A/C here its so hot and where is the music and the Bluetooth.... Where is all that ? Renault want U to Just sit down and accelerate
Some bird said that to me outside a club... You've got it all on my jeans & coat 😂😂😂
Awesome video 👍😆 how fast does those things charge?
About 3 hours.
I'll stick with my Vespa ... I can tow a small trailer when I go shopping ...
UA-camr Andy Kirby has modified his Twizy. You might want to take a look at his vids.
That's the Twizy 45 though. Oh and also you need to be from quite a posh family.
6:15 Why does your pressure washer sounds like a Star Wars blaster?
A small, lockable, roof-rack would be awesome.
I love this video. much better than Top Gear for sure.
Willem Streutgers yes
When are you going to Warrington? I'm not far away from there I'll keep an eye out for ya
How's the snow doing in sunny Cowling ?it's still icy as hell over this side of the valley
You should get a Twizy permanently as the video's are hilarious when you film with one (BUS!!!!)
