- Retire in Ecuador!! There are a plethora of reasons why Ecuador may be the best country to retire in. To name a few: the weather, the cheap cost of living, its benefits for retirees, the visa process, healthy living. I love living in Ecuador and when I'm ready to settle down for good, I can totally see myself buying a property here and living the simple life.
This video will tell you: why you should retire in Ecuador, how you can retire in Ecuador if you are from another country, why it's convenient for Americans and Canadians, plus a bit about the country and what you can expect if you do settle down during your golden years in Ecuador.

BREAKING NEWS! Turns out the law regarding how much monthly income you need for a pensioners visa has changed. It's now $400/person and nothing extra for dependents. That's half of the 800 that it used to be.
good for expats, which means Ecuadorians are not doing well
The only thing to look forward to being a senior in the US is a free beverage with your meal at the Old-Folks Country Buffet...but now those are all shut down. If only I could talk the wife into moving to another country! I love learning languages...she can't remember her own phone number.
I don't know what the old folks country buffet is, but I want to go.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap LOL Old Country Buffet...there is a web site, but it's all lies.. it's just a horrible buffet, like most lol. They were on an episode of Undercover Boss once, and South Park made fun of them a lot in one season haha.
Yup... Soon as my passport gets renewed I'm there...
I love this video and your sense of humor.
This is helpful. Thanks for sharing!
I actually was able to hit the subscribe button myself! Now back to Murder She Wrote and then a Columbo episode!
hey! I am an old people! I am 62. Researching to move to Cuenca Ecuador in 2021. Convince me to live in Quito! BTW, I like your sense of humor and you are handsome, two reason to watch your videos! and 2nd BTW ,I think I see gray hair underneath your cap? heheheh
Thanks Leon. Quito is much closer to an international airport. There's more to do and more restaurants. But I can't really compare Quito to Cuenca cause I haven't been to Cuenca yet. I'm planning to go there in a few weeks though.
Good job figuring out how to comment on UA-cam at your very very old age. And those gray hairs are experience trophies!
Hi! I might be able to give you a more clear image of how are both cities! I help people from foreign countries with information about Ecuador to pick the most suitable place for them to live! If you have any questios you can reply the comment or write me an email carovazquezz_97@hotmail.com
If I ever get tired of my current retirement home (Australia) sounds like Ecuador has things to offer.
$30 a month for prune juice! Lol, Ryan you'll get there soon.
You made me laugh and gave me some great information .... thanks from an old person
I love jello.
Is prune juice expensive in Equador? Do you still recommend Equador after you were robbed?
It's still a beautiful country that's easy to live in. Personally I prefer Asia, but it's not for everyone. So I guess my answer is 'depends what you're looking for'.
aww I am an ecuadorian girl watching this video! love it!
Are you in New York?
A Girl called Daniel
@@alexisvilana3525 😂 estoy conectada con la sesión de mi papá! Me llamo Daniela!
“It’s not all roses”. Actually miss all the colorful roses in Ecuador
Oh my goodness, I’m 64 and just loved your old folks jokes ( 64 really isn’t that old, when you get here, and trust me you will, you’ll see what I mean). 3:26, when your friend gets out of prison, tell him to lay off the crack and go see a dentist. Hey, what goes around comes around right? 😁 Really nice video. TU.
What’s the present COVID and hospital availability should you get it?
Not great. I don't know the numbers, but hospitals are very full in the Quito area.
I’m from Ecuador and I’ve been to a bingo hall
In Ecuador? Where?!
@@itchyfeetonthecheap a lot of places, you just have to ask.
Word on the street is that the pensioner’s visa requirement has been halved to US$400 a month now.
Perhaps... But if you're married is 40k per person... Think it's been that way for a while... I'm actually to lazy today to look it up... Lol.
Yeah, I think you're right. I just heard about it. I'll add a pinned comment. Thanks for the heads-up.
like, the negatives are earthquakes, snakes, mosquitos, malaria, yellow feaver, high altitude sickness, theft, but apart from that, and the rain, it is wonderful.
Loved it! and I'm 68 and ready to retire. Your brand of snark cracks me up.
Please give me some more information about moving to Ecuador.
Joey
What do you want to know? Kind of a broad topic.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap, (different flavors of available prune juices? just kidding) What about getting packages shipped there? I heard that they'll gouge you at the delivery end.
..you forgot to mention the,..GUINEAPIG...delicious!!,thanks for the video mi amigo👍
Prune juice,how appropriate for senior.
I’ve got Ecuadorian, US and Spanish citizenship. I had been leaning towards retiring in Spain and right now Spain’s biggest draw for me remains the cheese. Please do a segment on cheese as this will decide it for me. How’s that Chinese cheese rate?
I was talking about doing a video about cheese just the other day. I'd really like to find a place to shoot the cheese making process here.
I can confirm that there is a better variety of cheese in Spain. I do like the Ecuadorian cheese, but outside of queso fresco, mozzarella, and ricotta you're not going to find much.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap yeah - I have family there who are dairy farmers and they aren’t big into anything more complicated than yogurt or queso fresco. Honestly, the Sierra is perfect for making some good aged cheese. I wonder if they ever will take this on...sounds like a job for an expat.
HAHAHA :D I love this guy's sense of humor. I'm kinda old too. ;)
03:25 You are killing me....lol
Is 68 too old to retire to Ecuador?
I don't think so. You can join Expats in Ecuador Facebook groups to find other people that age. They might be able to tell you more.
So funny I spit my Geritol all over the keyboard laughing.
Can you repeat that? I didn't have my hearing aids turned on.
🗣️📢
You funny Jack A$$! I have been fortunate to visit Ecuador several times over the last 20 years and am about to return. I would like to meet you and show you how old people can kick your a$$! Just kidding, very entertaining and funny video, Thank You and Please make more videos.
Good job, clear concise what's so and where to start. The cute-z part(s) is/are a distraction.
I thinks it's cheaper to make your own prune juice Bryan
heh-heh-heh... found this in-between my naps. good job sonny. i'm looking forward to my retirement in ecuador, prolly salinas or manta, and my dinner of mashed potatoes and peas with yes, jello desert later.
tomorrow i'll check out ur other videos cuz 8 minutes is my limit before i crash and /or forget why i'm here at all. also thought it was the new yorkers who were the loud ones.
Where does China rank on the retirement list?
Too difficult now - almost all the foreigners have left.
Sorry to say, it's pretty low. Mainly because as a foreigner I can't really buy property there, and I've heard too many horror stories about the healthcare system. Getting a visa would probably be difficult too.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap wasn't there an episode where they blew smoke at your foot to make it better?
Yeah, not to me but my friend. She had a broken foot, so they poked holes in it with needles and blew smoke into the holes.
I bet he is not retiring now in Ecuador.
Such similar paths. Europe? Check. Asia? Check. South America... specifically Ecuador? Yeah, this feels like it will work. It’s not just old folks. There’s a lot of us in our age group doing the semi-retired thing. How old anyway are you with all that gray hair? Heckles aside, another accurate and funny video.
Thanks! I'm 38, and I'm semi-retired I guess. I think a lot of the people choosing to retire here are younger than 65. A big part of the appeal is that you can afford to retire early here. The gray hairs are strands of experience!
@@itchyfeetonthecheap yeah ... You can put me on that spreadsheet... I'm 51... My wife is your age... Both mentally fried from surviving in the US... Been super healthy and active my while life until the past 5 years... Extreme stress has shown me that now is the time live like a human being should before my body falls apart...😉👍
I laughed throughout this video! Besides the fact that your info is top notch, your comedic timing is flawless. Best, the decrepit retiree 😃
Several great zingers in this video, cracking me up!
I’m dying!! No Bingo halls? Forget it, I’m out.
There used to be A LOT of them but unfortunately the former gov't shut them all. But I think they will re open sometime in a near future
Well, just to add something else we're going through elections so socialism might win this time one more time most likely, if that happens that opening will take a little longer. Socialism opposes to bingo halls as they see it as a strong sign of capitalism
Not very funny buck. If I ever see you I'm going to... Lol, Actually I liked it so much I subscribed. Great job.
Haha. You had me there for a second.
You seem kind of young to be going into retirement already?
Making friends with old people everywhere he goes.
Lol, (old people still use this term)
😂 prune juice! 👍🏿
Funny!
Can I bring my Cat?
Yeah, but there are a bunch of things to have to do to get the cat in. Not sure what exactly, but it's possible.
there is another channel called Amelia and JP who are younger Expats in Ecuador who brought two dogs along from the States. they have a couple videos describing that process.
"...add 30 dollars a month for prune juice for you guys". Haha have your like!
How do people travel all these continents without a job is beyond me…
Saved money, didn't have kids, didn't spend my money on useless shit.
Funny old people jokes!.
. Just remember your only a day behind us!... Ha ha
Dude, I'm 51. Enough with the age jokes. lol
Don't worry, you're still young... At least for a few more months.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap Love your videos. Good stuff. I'm going to Ecuador in January to scout out a possible retirement location. Any suggestions that offer street food, good Internet, lots of restaurants? Gotta be on the coast.
Salinas is popular with expats. Manta is probably the biggest city on the coast. Canoa, Olon, and Mompiche are smaller fishing towns, but expats seem to like living there.
@@itchyfeetonthecheap I'm going to visit all those places, plus Playas, Posorja, and Tonsupa.
@@TreesOnTheBeach I'm kinda curious about people who plan to retire outside of their home country. Like do you not mind not ever really seeing your family again? Children, grandchildren etc.? At least not in your daily lives, maybe just on a few occasions like holidays, but how is that enough? I don't really understand how one would rather live among a bunch of strangers, as nice as they may be, instead of being close to their family. Not judging or anything, I'm just curious because I don't think I'd be able to do that.
😹😹😹😹😹
Next Video: getting robbed in Equador, then living in Cambodia
Haha
Didn't make it 3 seconds into this mess.
And yet you had time to comment! Nice job quick fingers.
Keep track of this video you made and if you survive the next 25 years i think you will cringe.
Haha. Definitely. I'll be leaving nasty comments on my own video.
Savage.
Lol, Ecuador is in America (South America). You should say USA or the states... Canada is also in America.
That old face legit scared me.
Grumpy knob... Lol😂😂😂
Better than a lumpy knob I suppose.
That was thanks to president ‘s Correa’s presidency.
