I moved to Ecuador to Cuenca 9 mos ago and it was truly the best decision of my life.. I miss nothing about the US and will never move back.. Cuenca is a beautiful city with everything you could ever want ..
Cuenca is the best!! I live in Quito and would love to move 😍
as a world traveler who's never set foot in SA, Ecuador tops my list on the place to visit/ possibly settle down. thx for the comment and info.
I was considering moving to Guayaquil. What did you need before moving and now much money did you take with you?
@@terranova8889 honestly don’t bring a lot of money. Everything here is so freaking cheap. I just moved from Edinburgh to Cayambe, and the drop in price actually had me in tears. I went on a 5 day camping trip deep in Yasuní, and it cost me almost nothing.
Ecuador just simply offers so much in such a small plot of land. And the fact that they’re on the USD is very attractive. Immigration is also uber-lax, and if you make friends with someone that has a bit of money/is respected/connected, getting some form of residency is a breeze. I initially came here on a 6 month workaway programme studying/tracking Spectacled Bears in the Cayambe-Coca National Park, and I wound up befriending this wealthy murican woman who is very well-respected in the Quito/Cayambe area, and she is expediting my residency visa through her connections to some immigration people. There’s a reason so many from Europe/murica come to live here
I love my country ❤️❤️🇪🇨 viva Ecuador y todos los países de Latinoamérica !!
I visited Ecuador in 1967. I would add another item to your list: How beautiful Ecuador is. It is one of the most beautiful nations in the world. Of all the places I have been, my Ecuador trip is the most memorable. You will always remember Ecuador.
Me to
Viva Ecuador!!

AYYY CUY YUMMY VIVA ECUADOR ME GUSTA MI CUYS
I lived in Ecuador for 5 years. This is THE BEST list I have ever seen. All real practical stuff
I lived in Ecuador for 2 years. I loved my time there. The only negative was the crime in Quito. I was mugged at 7 am walking to my workplace. But that can happen anywhere. Ecuador is a gorgeous country. Such natural beauty.
Oh I'm sorry you had that horrible scenario. It's not much in there anyway. Where you live now?
@@felix9846 there isn’t much in freaking *QUITO* of all places!?! 😳 are you joking?
@@joemayo4078 Maybe he is misremembering Quito and Guayaquil
From my Ecuadorian side were from Quito, beautiful but can be dangerous if you aren’t careful and don’t know the area.
Sounds like any big city in the USA.
I was waiting for you to mention how kind we are. I was born in Miami, FL, USA and had the blessing of living in Guayaquil for a few years as a kid. I stood out, looking more of my Italian side (white and tall for my age), and I never felt like I was any different. I came back to the states for 4th grade and I remember how much of a culture shock coming back to the USA was. I am 37 now and I am still not used to how different people are here. I have kept the values I learned while in Ecuador. I am as kind as my people. I haven’t felt like I fit in here since I came back. I haven’t been back in over 20 years. My kids are teenagers now and I look forward to taking them to meet MY beautiful country and see where Mommy gets her kindness from 😊🇪🇨 I really enjoyed this video and laughed when you mentioned the Popcorn 😂 popcorn on everything!!!! When Anthony Bourdain visited, he mentioned how we add ketchup to everything 😂 The ketchup thing is more of a coast thing! Thank you thank you for not forgetting to mention our kindness. You made my day! 🙏🏼
You stood out? There is a large population of very white, blonde hair, light eyed people in Ecuador. Not sure how you “stood out” unless you lived in the Amazon region with the jibaros.
Ecuador is my native country and I can tell that this is an amazing country with a huge diversity to pick from , you will find everything and anything. The food is amazing not other country has so many dishes like Ecuador has.
Tourists will fall in love with it❤️❤️❤️
@paulina I live in Cuenca 5 yrs and love my beautiful adopted country w all my heart !! Viva Ecuador y dios te bendiga siempre!!!
This country is amazing I had the privilege to visit Ecuador for a month and I had great great time. I traveled all over the country except the Galápagos Islands cuz yes the tours were around 3000$. And yes the people are so so so nice and friendly there I loved them and I loved how they were so interested and welcoming.. every time I told someone there I am a Saudi Arabian I got an amazing lovely reaction oOoOh arabia 😂😍. I will definitely comeback and visit this great country again. Be well all
Yes the tours for foreigners are expensive.
I went to Galapagos but my parents are from there so it was sorta cheap
Kenia is expensives't and you looks less interesting things Ecuador has internacional cost
Glad to see Ecuador is open again! Uruguay and Ecuador and Chile are very safe in my experience.
Chile??? think twice bro
@@tomcourvoisier262 sí, los tres están entre los países más seguros de latam.

Honestly, Ecuador has some of the best guides we have ever had. Certifications are required, continued education is required and promoted, and honestly, the guides we had in Ecuador were super professional, super fun, super informative, and made Ecuador so much more amazing. Highly recommend.
because government regulation fixes everything!
Ecuador papa !!!
You probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?

Hey Professor Wolters! Have you ever visited Baños- Ecuador is a really cool place it has so many places for tourists such us : La Mano De Dios, La casa del Árbol, El Pailin del Diablo ….etc, etc . The best place to spend and the weather is the best in Ecuador. You guys should visit you will really love it .
That's why I loved my country so much Ecuador. We are on of the friendliest country in south america. not just in south america but in the world rather. And when you visit here you will feel like so much comfortable with the people you may encounter, and the places you want to visit. Viva Ecuador. There so much adventure in this country. Viva 🇪🇨❤️💪🏻❤️🇪🇨😍
@Felipe Campos mi AMO Ecuador..best country on the planet!!!
Haha, umm. As a tourist who has traveled to many countries and lived in Ecuador for a year and a half I can say for sure that Ecuador is not the friendliest country in the world 🥴 and the amount of problems in the country currently and danger is really bad. It is not a good place to live right now. 😬 I would avoid Ecuador at all costs, the only good thing is how cheap it is, but you have to live in the country to have the cheap things and it’s not worth it.
Soy de Ecuador. Y me da gusto que extranjeros queden maravillados de mi país. Y aun más que lo hagan con mucho amor y respeto hacia nuestro país y su gente.
hahaha man you're amazing! it is so cool to see how foreigners recommend Ecuador, thank you so much for that! so happy to see you enjoyed our country, feel welcome to come back whenever you need it
The Guides! They are required to be Certified and take Continuing Ed in Geological, Ecological and several other areas. They are incredibly well versed in so many areas!!!
Ant tour guide or tour agency you would recommend in Ecuador?

Ecuador tiene los mejores lugares turísticos y las mejores comidas, 🤤
That's why I love my country, I mind my city I born in Cuenca miss u 😢 ❤
What shocked me about both Peru and Ecuador was the QUALITY of the street food and the mom/pop restaurants. Absolutely amazing for almost nothing compared to eateries at home. And yes....I ate cuy which was just like rabbit....just smaller. I can't wait until this Covid thing is over so I can go back. I really miss the place. For me...beats the hell out of Mexico.
❤
Yes, we Ecuadorians are the best people in the whole wide world!.

My daughter lives in Perú, so I've been to Trujillo twice. It seems like there are many similarities between the two countries. And now I'd like to visit Ecuador, thanks to you.
I mean, it’s essentially the same exact place. They’re right next to one another lol
@@joemayo4078some parts are similar yes, not exact, each country has it’s particularities, even from region to region in the same country.
In the USA leftover popcorn (popped in the fireplace in the evening) was breakfast food served in a bowl with milk. Dr. Kelloggs great idea was to flatten the popped corn then bake it into a flake. His plan was to make us healthy. anyway, great video!
Thanks for your great review of my country 😁
The best thing about Ecuador is how near everything is.
From Quito you can go to Quilotoa or Cotopaxi Volcano in 2 hours, then go the Amazonas entrance Baños and Puyo in 2 or 3 hours.
Then you can go to Guayaquil and the Beach in 5 hours.
A complete adventure!
I was in Otavalo in April and fell in love with the country and people.
Ecuador is Lovely ❤️🇪🇨
Ecuador is beautiful and so affordable. My next visit must include Galapagos. ❤️
Thanks for the great comments about my country!!! 💛💙❤️
My homeland! Glad to see yall there
Great vid. I went to school in Cuenca many years ago and and traveled all over Ecuador. This brings back lots of great memories.

Greetings from Ecuador btw
Depends on the season
Great comments about my country Ecuador 🇪🇨 👍🏻😃 You are very welcome to come back again! Next time see the flowers and roses we export 🌹🌄 Good luck 😃
I've lived in the USA for about half my life, 15 years to be exact. It's so cool to come across videos like these. To know that my land is as appreciated as I appreciate yours. Everything you said was pretty on point, cuy always takes the show. If you go back, based on everything you've said here and how much you like the gastronomy and the people, I'd highly recommend you to visit my town! Sigsig! is about one hour away from Cuenca and there isn't enough words for to describe it's spectrum. Thank you for this!
Thanks for this kind review of my country! Loved your energy!
Always providing the correct info for western travelers. You are able to put yourself in the new traveler's shoes so well. It is a skill you have perfected Wolter.
I live in nyc and from age 6 to 19 I lived in Ecuador...very kind people, is my most memorable image...another one Ecuadorians like to be late and often do not deliver on the date something is promised. There’s a saying to illustrate...don’t leave for tomorrow what u can do the day after tomorrow
Honestly, other than Western Europe and North America (north of Rio Grand), most places are like this....
I'm going to Quito for the holidays to spend it with my boyfriend's family. First time there and first time to SA! I'm Latina but it's always cool to see the differences in other cultures 😊
Great thing to do I'm sure you'll love it there.
You emit great energy! This just made my day, love the channel thanks for contributing your time, effort & energy to inform & enlighten us on traveling to different parts of the world.
place i stayed at in guayaquil was a nice place, modern, with fridge and double beds $10/night. only weird part was the owner had to let me in cus he had the key to my room. i think his family stayed in the building too.
never had excessive gas or altitude sickness in quito, cuenca, or ibarra. didn't have issues with sunburn cus i tan naturally no sunscreen. i was a shade darker my mom didn't recognize me at first coming home, but eyes were teary in ibarra, so i officially got sun glasses for the first time in my life, which solved the problem. i just hated the muggy beach in guayaquil.
yes, cuenca was a little too chilly for me cus i had to leave house by 8/9am. then you have to lug around sweaters or jackets when it's warm by noon. i loved ibarra though, could brave the morning short sleeve with a little endurance, brisk walk, by noon absolutely perfect temps, comfortable walking weather with no humidity
the peoople are extremely chill, patient, and don't' talk fast, good listeners, extremely helpful even tho they're clueless sometimes about directions. i was there 3 months and never had a single rude experience (except several with extremely hostile expats), as opposed to being sexually harrassed weekly and getting screamed at regularly in france
My wife is Ecuadorian and she loved this video.
I visited ecuador about a year ago and by far it was an experience I will never forget. Love everything about it. The culture, food, how friendly the people are. Deffinitly one of my favorite place. Highly recommend a vacation. The only thing I had to adjust was the altitude and headache and dizziness. It got easier after a couple days, just when getting up, do it slowly. Other than that I has a very pleasant and wonderful time.
Ecuador is beautiful, the best city to live is Cuenca❤️
I'm from Ecuador! 🇪🇨
Interesting Video! :~) And I love the Guinea Pig Statue at 5:36!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm going with my Ecuadorian friend in a few months. You eased my anxiety so thanks again.
Hi
I always remember me Ecuador, visited Guayaquil and Quito, also visited Otavalo, the market there is the main attraction of the Imbabura province, also Ibarra is certain worth a visit.

Hope you had a great time in my country 🇪🇨 Ecuador. Thanks for all the good reviews you gave about Ecuador
Do you recommend Ecuador as your first South American country....? Cheers
I would probably recommend Peru first.
Yessss. Lol. The best.
Sir @@woltersworld Why Peru? :')
Is Peru accepting tourists now?
Peru can be gruelling on the lungs if not prepared
I would recommend Isla De La Plata, it’s like a budget end galapos that you can do in a single day for significantly less money. In my trip I snorkeled with sea turtles and saw humpback whales
Great video my friend I love cuenca too,the weather, people and the view are amazing, keep it up like this dude greeting from Ecuador
This video made me want to visit Ecuador with my family! Thank you!
love Ecuador.. lots of great climbing. the food is amazing. people are wonderful.
I was in Quito last year and I thought altitude sickness was exaggerated the fist couple of days, then the 3dr day I went to "El Panecillo" and when I climbed those stairs, man, I thought I was gonna pass out 😅. There's so many places that I wish I could go explore but I'm putting traveling on hold until at least a vaccine is available.

Thank you for sharing your video.
so many gringos left Costa Rica for Cuenca en Ecuador. I like it there as well. And now this..
If you have the time, I would consider adding Cotacachi, Ibarra, then to the coastline.... Salinas and Montanita to your itinerary. Leather/Alpaca goods to beaches, surfing and seafood. Amazing scenery along the way. A 16 hour bus ride costs about $20. ( Bring hand sanitizer . Not everyone uses the t.p. you can't flush. There is a reason you can't drink the water at lower elevations. )
It's a beautiful country to visit. So many places to see. I won't repeat other's.
Your video is perfectly explained
A very nice and accurate review of my precious country, I appreciate it even more since I moved to the US, being far away.
Why did you leave? I just arrived, hoping to live here permanently, in Cayambe. I came from US, I am from Scotland
@@joemayo4078 I guess when you're from somewhere, anywhere, you look to experience something new, then you get to appreciate what is truly yours and see it with new eyes. Cheers man, enjoy Ecuador.
There is a reason people were rioting. Even though it’s where you’re heart is and where you’ll always miss, the corruption and poverty is rising and the pandemic made it several times worse. They’re a lot of Venezuela and other countries looking for work due to their corrupt govts as well. Praying this new president can at least change the corruption as the countries debt is incredibly high from past government and terrible deals with foreign countries taking advantage of the resources there. It’s the most amazing place I’ve ever lived but it is hard watching kids starving in the streets or shunning shoes for bread
@@i.m.mezclada6559 I agree in the wishes that this government does well for all the people, and does not leave behind the most vulnerable.
