So basically Coach Dambrot said that what he’ll miss the most is teaching young players how to be resilient and push through hard times. This is great coming from a basketball coach. That particular ability would help anyone, not just basketball players, on any given day. What a guy!
Many athletes who have competed at the college or professional level will tell you being on a sports team is not about the sport. It’s about life, and the sport is just an outlet for stress. Love for your teammates and coaches, kindness, emotional intelligence, sacrifice, empathy, approach and work ethic-all these things can be built in a locker room.
This is such a brilliant podcast. For a below average high school and AAU player that I was, I almost wanted to hate the game because of my lack of talent and ability. But when you see JJ and LeBron just talking about the game, it makes you want to love the game as much as they do. Super excited to hear what’s to come for this podcast.

This is not hyperbole; This podcast RENEWED my interest in watching basketball. I'm one of those people that DO NOT enjoy the way the game is being played right now. I prefer the game of the 90s and 2000s when the game was more physical. JJ Reddick and Gilbert Arenas have been championing the high skill level of today's NBA players, compared to previous generations, as an explanation for the high scoring and difficulties in defending in today's game. This podcast has allowed me to see basketball in a way I never had before and I find myself enoying the game a lot more now. I feel dumb saying this but I never thought that this much planning/execution has happening on every play. I still prefer the NBA from 20-30 years ago but at least I'm actually wathing basketball again. And I'm grateful for that.
The guys today has way more options when it comes to offense. People always say guys today don’t play defense but if most of them watch this podcast. They will learn that’ it’s much more to it than they think.
When you learn to understand the game and see what’s going on it starts to make sense that teams and players score more and easier. There’s only so many plays out there. There’s only so many ways to defend a play. Coaches have seen these a million times so they have counters for everything now. Almost nothing is new. It takes time to get ahead. Right now the offensive game(thanks in part to rules) is just ahead of the game defensively. There’s no good way really to defend anymore. You can’t leave guys wide open. You can’t guard these elite scorers 1 on 1. It’s just tough.
As a middle school basketball coach that loves the game, this is gold!!!! I’ve learned more from the previous four episodes than I have watching basketball for the past four seasons. Love the concepts, the explanations, the drawings, and the very detailed analysis that you and Lebron provide. Thanks guys.

I started watching LeBron James when I was in elementary school at 8 years old, I’m now 29 years old about to be 30 later this year. WOW I can’t believe it’s been over two decades! I’ve been saying he was the 🐐 then and it came to fruition 👑 James✊🏾#My🐐
Now 27 and working and my childhood basketball hero who I used to pretend to be in the driveway is still giving them the work. I’m not sure how I’ll feel when he retires.
@@TheMars4s right! When he does he should own the Vegas team and be heavily involved in media still. NBA ratings would love it. Imagine if MJ was on the TNT crew or just came and talked about the league often.
I started watching basketball in the 2022 finals between Boston and GS and I decided to buy 2k22 to learn how basketball works. Since then I have fell in love with basketball and watched old games and the history of the sport. Which is why I'm thankful for this podcast and other ones too for feeding me with more ball knowledge. Shout to LBJ and JJ for this🙏🏾
Every episode of this podcast has been food for my mind and soul. As a former player, a current coach, and a diehard LeBron James fan (Cleveland, OH), I'm grateful to hear these takes from both Bron and JJ. I've been able to add pieces to my playbook, I've gained knowledge and perspective on how to be a better coach and lead my young athletes. This is a masterclass every week. Well done!
so I've been a fan off basketball with about less than 10% of understanding of the terms, this podcast has greatly increased my knowledge of the game. It's fun to watch games, but now it's more fun because I can tell what's happening at least 3 out of 5 times.
I really appreciate the fact that yall are actually giving definitions of these plays and your explanations are amazing. Really bringing the basketball media back from the grave. 🎉
Another fantastic episode! Right before the playoffs too. I’ve watched playoff basketball since 2009. But thanks to this podcast I’ll be watching it with a new set of eyes…as if it’s my first time. Can’t wait! Congrats on retirement coach!
I will never forget Game 6 MIA vs SA - I was in year 12 English class, watching the box score update & reading play-by-play on our school laptop; as we refresh the window every twenty seconds. (My classmates & I were supporting Miami) 4th quarter, there was five secs left & the score was 92-95 - we thought the game was over. What are the odds of tying the game or winning in that situation right? We hit refresh and see the score 95-95. We all stood up & celebrated in excitement. Of course, Miami went on to win the championship. What a moment in time for four kids / fans of the game.

Every episode is better than the one before.. Lebron and JJ thank you for this treat. So sick of all the bantering and negativity in sports media. These conversations are so refreshing and as I watch the games I look for the play actions you guys are discussing. So awesome!😎
We need Mind the Game merch now 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
School starting early for me this morning 😂
trollin' ahh😂😂
@@jogzz7779nah I think a lot of basketball fans don’t realize how much they don’t know until they see something like this lol
@@kefkapalazzo1 yup My respect for LeBron has grown tremendously since this podcast started! I wonder why the media especially talk shows never do these types of breakdown????
two basketball savants and lovers of the game itself.

JJ is freaking out here !!! I love hearing all about what they were thinking during the game. It really shows you the pressure they feel and the disappointment they feel when letting fans down. By far my favorite basketball podcast. Yall did right by this one for sure 😊
When one of the best player ever speaking about basketball I listening and learning something new.
Thanks for the podcast, greetings from Serbia! 🙌👏👂
I started watching LeBron James when I was in elementary school at 8 years old, I’m now 29 years old about to be 30 later this year. WOW I can’t believe it’s been over two decades! I’ve been saying he was the 🐐 then and it came to fruition 👑 James✊🏾#My🐐
Same here, I’ll turn 30 in December sadly lol
@@landonandrews3013your life is on the up brother. Plan, train hard and keep grinding. God bless
@@Mr.JayDice that’s the vibes 💯
Same man turning 30 in 3 months.
Same here bro, 30 in July.
Now 27 and working and my childhood basketball hero who I used to pretend to be in the driveway is still giving them the work. I’m not sure how I’ll feel when he retires.
I HOPE HE NEVER RETIRES
@@TheMars4s right! When he does he should own the Vegas team and be heavily involved in media still. NBA ratings would love it. Imagine if MJ was on the TNT crew or just came and talked about the league often.
We are all blessed to witness another episode of the greatest basketball podcast on earth. Thank you LeBron & JJ.
Only a few episodes in and this is already the best basketball content on this platform
J J Reddick is so good at analyzing and breaking down basketball that one day people will forget of how great of a basketball player he was.💯
I started watching basketball in the 2022 finals between Boston and GS and I decided to buy 2k22 to learn how basketball works. Since then I have fell in love with basketball and watched old games and the history of the sport. Which is why I'm thankful for this podcast and other ones too for feeding me with more ball knowledge. Shout to LBJ and JJ for this🙏🏾
There is no basketball podcast better than this at the moment. Simply pure basketball and love for the game 🏀 👌🏽
This has revolutionized the podcasting landscape, elevating basketball analysis to an entirely new level.
I need a breakdown of the breakdown lol. Loving this series!
Well done!
y'all doing something so special with this podcast. thank y'all !!
so I've been a fan off basketball with about less than 10% of understanding of the terms, this podcast has greatly increased my knowledge of the game. It's fun to watch games, but now it's more fun because I can tell what's happening at least 3 out of 5 times.
The giggles about the pension is crazy 😂 they was bubbly as shit 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really appreciate the fact that yall are actually giving definitions of these plays and your explanations are amazing. Really bringing the basketball media back from the grave. 🎉
Another fantastic episode! Right before the playoffs too. I’ve watched playoff basketball since 2009. But thanks to this podcast I’ll be watching it with a new set of eyes…as if it’s my first time. Can’t wait! Congrats on retirement coach!
This is the most in-depth and insightful basketball podcast hands down!
This podcast is literally a basketball blueprint
I will never forget Game 6 MIA vs SA - I was in year 12 English class, watching the box score update & reading play-by-play on our school laptop; as we refresh the window every twenty seconds.
(My classmates & I were supporting Miami)
4th quarter, there was five secs left & the score was 92-95 - we thought the game was over. What are the odds of tying the game or winning in that situation right?
We hit refresh and see the score 95-95. We all stood up & celebrated in excitement.
Of course, Miami went on to win the championship. What a moment in time for four kids / fans of the game.
Awesome man…true sports fans hold memories like that … you can’t remember what I did last week but I remember where I was watching when Kobe had 81
Love watching this pod while drinking scotch & beer! Bron & JJ are transforming the basketball podcast sphere. This is what Google defines as high-quality content: Unique, Useful, Informative, Engaging & Compelling.
Amen.
JJ with the “I just wanna draw one play” killed me
I’ve learned more about basketball from this podcast than I ever did in real life
Yea ever since this podcast I’ve been trying to look for what they’ve told us. In general just trying to understand spacing and basketball plays in general. It’s been fun so thank you guys
This podcast is ELITE
Legitmately the best podcast in all of sports. This is what every sports podcast wants to be
Guys great show! I’m 64 and a life long hooper from Pat Riley, Sam Perkins, Tickey Burden, Jimmer Fredette neck of the woods. Played summer league with Derrick Rowland. Your X’s and O’s and historical recall is great content. The JJ and LeBron chemistry is very interesting.
Can you guys please start filming JJ’s opening clipboard diagram explanations from the left? His right hand is in the way as he manifests X&O’s and I think it’d be a minor change that had a big impact for viewing learners😊
Was about to write this - great call!
This is the best podcast out rn
I come here so I can know what the hell I’m talking about when coaching my son… I played ball all my life but I realized after watching the first episode of this podcast I don’t know shit so I mirror everything they do on this show😂😂
Bro I’ve been playing and watching for 30 plus years and the first episode I also realized I don’t know shit about basketball lol
Problem now is everyone knows what you know... 😂😅

Love the intro music! Podcast is OK too... 😂 First thing I check every Wednesday morning!
Won a state championship my senior year off of motion and flex. Seeing JJ write these off on the board brought back memories.
