Hey Mitch. I went to your Amazon page and I got a Zstar, a new frying pan like yours, and a bacon grease pot like yours. My wife is happy since I cook more with these items. You are a good influence on me since you are six years older than me. Keep up the good work.🤑
@@OldGuyCarnivore LOL. You make me look forward to getting older. Also, every time I start fixing breakfast for the wife and I (six eggs) and I start beating the eggs, if my wife hears me she will yell from anywhere in the house " excuse me, while I beat my eggs!". 😂
It’s your fault Mitch! I’ve ordered one, it looks soooooo good. 79years old female, carnivore for 3 months and loving all the good things happening to my old body, keep on beating those eggs! From North Yorkshire, UK
Thanks for the review. But for me because of the size I don’t think I could find a place in my kitchen for it. It looks huge on your stove. Just don’t have the counter space or storage area. Darn it. But I’ll keep measuring just in case.
My favourite thing I cook in my Cosori air fryer is bacon. I lay the strips down and cook at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. It is nice to put them in and walk away. Making bacon is no longer a chore. I usually cook 2 or 3 packages at a time. They come out flat and perfect!
Just rinsed out the drip pan and cleaned the grill in the sink with a sponge. No grease at all in the top or anywhere else on the air fryer itself. Simple!
I usually just slow roast my pork ribs or beef ribs in oir oven and cook huge batch for our family of 5 to enjoy. But recently bought a 3 in one air fryer, dehydrator and oven thing but still read all the instruction then give it a whirl. Hoping to dehydrate a heap of beef and make pimmican for bush walking, camping and on hand long shelf life carnivore food. Plus carnivore chips.
OK Chef Mitch, looks like you out did yourself again. Everything looks sooo gooood...........I have a Ninja Foodi XL Grill, which I just love , I use it at least 5 times a week. So easy to clean .... You got me in the mood for ribs, I will do that over the weekend. Great video, Thank you. ❤
I came straight here after watching you first vid on this. Was hoping to hear more about the spatter on the lid and element, mostly because I like my meat burnt on the outside and raw in the middle - so you can see why. Thx for doing this and sharing. 👍👍👍👍👍
Well before I knew about the Zstar, I had to have 2 air fryers so my husband and I could each have our own steak. I bet in your Zstar you could cook two decent sized ribeyes in relative silence versus the two air fryers going at the same time in my kitchen! Great find!
This looks great, i have a ninja speedi rapid cooker air fryer and i love it. The only thing i do wish it had was a grill function, although the air fry works phenomenal. You've peaked my interest with this zstar.
Oh yeah, the Ninja I have is also a pressure cooker, broiler, steamer and you can Sautee but you can cook from frozen Steaks and wings and anything else you can think of, which I have done and the ribs would pressure cook 1st then put on AirCrisp mode and have them fall off the bone goodness in no time at all. I got mine from Walmart when it was $50 less than the usual list price of $189, but I've seen them for the same price I paid $139 on Amazon. There is another model that is a 12 in 1 appliance but for us carnivores this one is perfect and cleanup is so simple and easy other than what has splattered into the top of the AirCrisp lid as it's a round burner element with a fan above it. There are a few screws I could probably take it apart to clean it but have yet to attempt that. It's been used a lot . The book calls for oil but I toss whatever calls for oil in bacon grease with a little Himalayan salt only and my wings came out 👏amazing in less than 30 minutes from frozen as the pressure mode cooking them from frozen takes about 5 minutes and then you take them out, toss in the bacon grease and salt, place back into the machine which I've carefully poured off any water that may have remained from the pressure cooking process. Made a thick NY strip for dinner last night, and it was ready to eat to my MR liking in 12 minutes.
Amazon sells parchment paper fitted liners for the Ninja air fryer basket…..not sure if they have the right size for the Zstar but worth looking into. Saves a lot of clean up.
Those parchment paper liners are okay as long as they have enough holes in them to let the air circulate through underneath the food as well. I bought a package of them a while back, and never use them because the food didn't cook quite like it should

I really appreciate these demonstration videos. I get an idea whether it’s for me or not, and some thoughts shared by someone who has lived longer than me 😊 I’ve seen some cooking with airfryer before, but I wasn’t sure if it could do the whole job, or if it had to be be in the oven first. For me, function is very important. And it has to be easy to clean. Because nobody likes that part 😅 In the past I always heard it was a way to prepare food with less fat, and I believed that. So I thought it was just another gimmick, and didn’t pay much attention to it. But after seeing more people using it, I realized that wasn’t the case at all.
Air fryers are just little convection ovens that cook with hot air. Marketing people used the low fat nonsense as a selling point to those who were trying to follow the disastrous low fat dietary guidelines.
@@OldGuyCarnivore That’s tragic. I was very surpriced first time I heard animal fat actually was good for us. I did’t believe it back then, because we have grown up being told the oposite. Hi Mitch did you know that Cosori just came out with the Turboblaze air fryer that does not have the basket but only a grate and goes up to 450 degrees? it doesn't take up more space than the old Cosori so I may get one of them, as I have such a tiny kitchen, not a huge one like you have. Yesterday I put a prime rib roast in my slow cooker and left it on low for overnight... Wow... now that is good! I have not seen chicken wings sold whole like that. I find them always split in two and no tips. I separate the flats from the drumettes. Flats take about 14 minutes at 400 degress in the Cosori, and drumettes I do separately at 400 degress for 18 minutes. I love the flats and usually give away the drumettes. I give away about half of everything I buy in the way of food... some people need help.
@@marydinkel I have had two Cosori Air Fryers. I had no smoke problems with two years of use. I found it easy to clean if you clean it with every use and immediately after using. The element was easy to clean with a simple wipe after a few uses. I only used mine for chicken and steak as I only eat Carnivore. I now have a Dreo Chefmaker that was a lot more costly and not really much better than the Cosori. I still have my Cosori for back-up or if I am cooking for more people and need a second air-fryer. The Dreo goes to a higher temperature and has more features such as sous-vide and cooking with a probe. I recommend both.
I’m a 2+ year carnivore. A month ago this video would have been appropriate for me. I recently realized that when I have steak tartare at a restaurant. I love it, so I decided to make my own. Damn delicious! Then I thought, why don’t I grind brisket, form it into patties, lightly sear each side and basically eat that raw too? I’ve been at it for a few weeks of basically not even cooking my food. It’s funny how we go through cycles.
@@LookABear-ur2tf I use the kitchenaid stand mixer grinder attachment. I grind with the largest holes. I tried a second grind with smaller holes and didn’t notice much of a difference.
Okay I'm going to confess. I've never said this to anyone before because I know no one would understand it. But if anybody is going to understand it it's going to be my carnivore community. For many many years when I would cook something with ground beef I would ball up a little bit of it and put some salt and pepper on it and eat it raw. It's delicious. I've also been known When I Was preparing some kind of roast or other kind of beef to slice off a few small pieces and eat those Raw. It's quite good and tender and it's never made me sick or anything bad. In fact I ate a Texas Roadhouse tonight and when the server asked me how I wanted my steak I told her just make it so it's not mooing anymore. She kind of looked at me funny but I got that sucker rare. She did it right. And it was delicious.
Yum! But I keep it to myself as well. The idea of it just grosses people out. I thought I would make a ground beef tartare just for fun today. A little Dijon mustard, dab of hot sauce, an anchovy, egg yolk, salt and pepper.
I think your air fryer is going to end up where your knives are etc.; the knives are going to go where the air fryer is now. :) Then you won't have to move it onto the stove because you will be using it for every meal. ;) Very nice air fryer!
I have a Ninja Foodie and I cook my wings and thighs at 390 degrees for 20 minutes and flip half way. They come out crispy every time. Will try the ribs on my roast/bake feature and then switch to air crisp or broil to finish off. I only season with salt and will brine on rack in refrigerator a day or so. My oven stopped working almost 8 months ago. Never knew I could live without it, but not my air fryer or my gas stovetop.
i used to have that hamburger press. but I prefer the taste of smashburgers. so I got rid of it and use a nice smashburger press instead. with my cinder grill that we discussed in your last video.. its very good and gets a nice crust on the patty.
Keep up the great work Mitch! The one thing I don’t like about pan wings is they get greasy. They are crispy but greasy. Yours look dry and crispy. Looked great!
I like this series on the air fryer. You should consider doing similar demo's. Now, how's the cleanup of the burner coils/fan in the ceiling of the appliance? Quality and ease of getting complete access to the burners is key in my mind. Since I'm an electronic tech, I also look for availability of all repair parts and access to the electrical/electronics compartment of appliances/devices I purchase. #righttorepair
I'm going to make a short follow up video in a few weeks after I see if any splatter is a problem. So far, none. As far as spare parts go, that is always a potential problem. I'll post something if it ever becomes a problem for me.
I got a PowerXL 12 in 1. Of course, I'll never use half the cooking modes but it'll air fry and sous vide pretty well. I'm gonna try the roast mode at some point in the near future.
I have the Ninja 8-in-1 version of that and it looks very similar. I like my Ninja for cooking meats a lot. I suspect the Ninja was more expensive... I wish I know about yours before I bought my Ninja. I suspect I could have save money.
@@Ryzac2 i think I paid like 279 for mine at one of the home shopping channels. Mine heats from the top and bottom, and I don't think they make it any longer.
Love watching your videos! What do you mean by dry brining? What is your secret to the perfect steak? Steak is something I have never conquered without it being tough or overdone. I am 75! Just starting this carnivore lifestyle and hoping I can get some great recipes without getting bored.
Dry brining basically is taking the steak and salting it on both sides, placing it in the refrigerator on some kind of rack so the air can circulate completely around it. Anywhere from an hour or two to overnight. I generally sous vide my steaks to 128° and then sear them in butter in a very hot pan for about 1 minute a side. They will always come out perfect that way.
I never use metal utensils, only polypropylene or nylon, so it doesn't scratch at all. I replace these about once a year, not because there's something wrong with them but because they discolor from use. They're about 30 bucks.
I was looking at a Ninja air fryer grill combo, which is very much like your Zstar; I am not very happy with my basket air fryer either, as it is very messy to clean. I just started following you. I have been using my Traeger smoker and making slow-smoked meats. Are you slow panning your videos because you are using an Insta 360 camera?
Hi, just found your channel. I'm a few years younger than you, but very interested in carnivore. Have done it for about a month now and don't see a ton of results. I do feel better. How long does it take before you see weight loss and muscle toning?
If you are doing it right, a month or two. Depends on your particular situation. Age,weight, medical condition, prescriptions, damage from SAD, etc., etc.
Here's the way I see it. When I compare the Z star and the ninja foodi XL the foodi is about 38.00 more expensive, and I really like the window in the door where you can see what's going on inside while it's cooking. I think I'm going to buy myself one for christmas.
Hi Mitch first time watching your channel can you tell me if the air fryer can be used as a smoker I'm really interested in knowing whether it can be used in that manner thank you
Mitch, if you take your ribs, or anything you plan on cooking out of the fridge and let it get to room temp, you won't have to cook the cold off it. Reducing your cooking time.
They've been unavailable for some time now. I love mine and use it all the time, but as an alternative I bought a ninja equivalent and I'm very happy with it as well. There's a link on my website to it, and it's on sale now for $169. I don't recommend paying any more than that if you're not in a hurry, because they'll probably raise the price again shortly.
@@OldGuyCarnivore I have the Ninja Foodi grill….I love it. I guess I’ll stick with it. I use it all of the time because it has all features, bake, roast, air crisp. I need to use the grill & air crisp features more so I become expert in cooking those foods I love, chicken wings, etc. I use the back function a lot and have great success (no brainer). I love ribs and need to just buy some & cook them. I’m going to use your guidelines you used with the Z Star. Your advise is great. I’ll adapt to my Ninja and how I like them cooked (ribs falling off the bone). Great video.
so i had an air fryer before. they are great for wings. ribs. steaks. but they arent good for burgers from my experience. cause u dont get that sear u would get on a cast iron or grill. I do want to get another air fryer for wings and steaks. i regret selling mine. but I dont recommend it for burgers.
Hey mitch! Every time I go To amazon and look for that z star, They don't have any I guess. That's been true for months now. Since they don't have any, Which one do you recommend? I sure would like one that is not quite so wide. It could be deeper. I have limited space, but my other air fryer is peeling in the basket. And I don't want to use it anymore. Do you have a recommendation Mitch?
I would definitely recommend the Ninja, and it's on sale now for 169 which is a very good price. I don't know if the z-star has ever coming back or not. There's a link on my website for that particular Ninja
Hi Mitch, hope you or your follower’s can help me out! I received my Zstar the other day, and have noticed on odor that seems like it’s from the nonstick metal parts that are getting hot. I am hoping to “ burn off” the smell, but I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this? If so, will it go away? It’s actually changing the taste of the food, and is so bad that I have moved the unit to the laundry room, but trying to diligently use it as I have about 3 weeks to send it back if I have to! I really want to love this product! It’s not loud, it seems safe, it was a good price, but I can’t live with that odor! My next plan is to lightly grease the nonstick parts with tallow and do a preheat at 450 for about 20 minutes and see if that changes anything. Anyone else had this problem?
This is not ital for a rastafarian, we need lots of lambs bread, sinsemilla, kali weed, ganjah, and moreover some rice n beans and proper breadfruit and tiny fish soup

Awesome, thanks for doing these reviews. I've been reaseaching getting an air fryer and this vid is very informative and helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
The Ninja is a great machine.
I got the Ninja XL grill from Costco for $99. Cooks perfect steaks
@@Ryzac2 i think I paid like 279 for mine at one of the home shopping channels. Mine heats from the top and bottom, and I don't think they make it any longer.
Good one again Mitch🎉
Thank you!
Glad the grease is off my stove now!
Nice thank you..👍
Thank you too
Love the cooking inspirations!! ❤ 😋
Glad you like them!
Try salmon to see if as good as Cosori
Thank you for the info. I will check it out. I have a small air fryer. Looking for something big that can be oven as well.
I don't know if this would make a great oven.
shit, this was a tough video.....normally I don't get cravings, but this was definitely an exception 🍖🍗🥩🍔
LOL ... Eat some bacon!
Yeah, we are all watching and wishing we there to enjoy the juicy meat being cooked. Great video.
That was a great review on the Zstar . Lots of good eating 🙋🏼♀️
Thank you 😋
Hi mitch ❤ love from the uk.
Thanks!
How does the non stick inside surfaces hold up to scratching after a few months?
I never use metal utensils, only polypropylene or nylon, so it doesn't scratch at all. I replace these about once a year, not because there's something wrong with them but because they discolor from use. They're about 30 bucks.
I was looking at a Ninja air fryer grill combo, which is very much like your Zstar; I am not very happy with my basket air fryer either, as it is very messy to clean. I just started following you. I have been using my Traeger smoker and making slow-smoked meats.
Are you slow panning your videos because you are using an Insta 360 camera?
Yes, Insta360 X3
Hi, just found your channel. I'm a few years younger than you, but very interested in carnivore. Have done it for about a month now and don't see a ton of results. I do feel better. How long does it take before you see weight loss and muscle toning?
If you are doing it right, a month or two. Depends on your particular situation. Age,weight, medical condition, prescriptions, damage from SAD, etc., etc.
Great videos Mitch. I have been considering the Ninja Foodi like Alaska Bill has, but I really like what your Zstar is doing.
So far iy is great, but we'll see down the road. It is very simple, unlike the Ninja, so I hope it won't have any problems
Here's the way I see it. When I compare the Z star and the ninja foodi XL the foodi is about 38.00 more expensive, and I really like the window in the door where you can see what's going on inside while it's cooking. I think I'm going to buy myself one for christmas.
Big up, Mitch. Love the content!
Thank you
Score! Enjoy you new air fryer
Thanks 👍
That thing is BIG!! You need to purge your Gadgets and make Space for it!!
Would a lower temperature with increased time make those ribs fall off the bone? I’d love for you to test it. Thanks for your research!
I'm sure it would, the longer and slower you cook. I like a little firmness to the ribs so I don't cook them any longer.
Just bought it.
Nice. But I still BBQ at (-)22F. Just some things just better on a BBQ.
Fair enough!
Hi Mitch, did your Zstar come with the insertable thermometer that’s shown in your video?
No, that is the Meater wireless thermometer. I use it in the air fryer, oven, and BBQ. Keeps me from ruining a lot of food ....lol amzn.to/49pGnZO
Thanks Mitch, I’ll put it on my Wishlist.
Hi Mitch first time watching your channel can you tell me if the air fryer can be used as a smoker I'm really interested in knowing whether it can be used in that manner thank you
Ninja has one for use outdoors, which will smoke. Other than that, I don't think so.
Good job
Thanks
They look like Super Bowl size wings!!
Sam's club
Mitch, if you take your ribs, or anything you plan on cooking out of the fridge and let it get to room temp, you won't have to cook the cold off it. Reducing your cooking time.
Good point. With meat like steaks, a colder inside helps the outside brown before the inside comes up to temp.
I just ordered the same cooker you have, I paid $120 for it on Amazon. I can not wait for it to come.
The price seems to go up and down a little every day. $140 seems to be the street price. Congrats on your timing!
Great report. Thank you Mitch 👍😎👍
Thanks 👍
Keep ❤winning champion.
I was wondering about the Z star.
The burgers came out great!
@@OldGuyCarnivore they didnt dry out? that was the experience I had when I used an air fryer. which is why i got rid of mine
@@dean4125 didn't dry out at all.
It’s March 2024 - there is no such fryer on Amazon - for any price
They ran out of stock evidently yesterday. I have been recommending the Ninja air fryer Grill as a good substitute. There's a link to it on my website
ZStar unavailable on Amazon...
I know, sorry
I just looked today, only 1. Needless to say, I ordered it. 😆
@@rowdycat20 Glad to hear that!
@@rowdycat20 -- Hahaha... nice move! Cheers!
Will the ZSTAR double as a JUICER? If so, Keep It!!
No juice!
Didn't last long as a "favorite". Looks like Ninja Foodi is now the choice?
It's not about favorites it was about availability. I like both of them.
If it doesn't go away and you got it from amazon, I would return it
I really enjoy your vids Mitch. I am a lot like you, only fat. I'm inspired by your vids to be a skinnier me.
Just keep doing it and you will be
Ask Dreo for a sample ChefMaker for testing
Good idea!
I sure wish Mitch was my neighbor so we could hang out and eat meat together!
It's just under 130$ right now.
I saw that they had lowered the price
So what does it look like? You didnt show anything..Looks like a George Forman grill
I'm sorry, I don't understand
MITCH, GREAT DEMO.YOU SAID $140 AT AMAZON. ALL I SEE IS AROUND
$400 TO
$500 CANADIAN AT AMAZON???????
Wow! Go for the Ninja one, not the zstar. The Z-star is great, but not worth 3 times the price!
Did you see this vid?
Did I see this video? I made it.
Brother let your meat rest 10 to 15 minutes before you cut it will be juicier and tender
This is not ital for a rastafarian, we need lots of lambs bread, sinsemilla, kali weed, ganjah, and moreover some rice n beans and proper breadfruit and tiny fish soup
I don't even think I know what most of that is! ... LOL
