The intermediate shaft has a nasty habit of wearing the case bore oval. That's why you see the leak from the o ring on the end of the shaft. In the UK, there's companies that sleeve the case with a steel insert which stops the leak happening again. Not sure about Canada though!
Mike, If im to do the intermediate shaft seal in situ, is there enough length on the hi/low select cable and hand brake cables or do you need to disconnect them. Cars a disco 2 by the way Paul
Paul - I will be honest and say I have not done a D2 I do not think there is enough space to push back the box to gain access You may have to remove the mountings to drop it down - just be careful!
Hi. I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ. The front diff is on the driver side. I have an lt230 out of an discovery 2. I have to turn around it's axle in oder to have the output on the left side. Is that possible? The other method is to turn it around and use the PTO.
About to make some up myself. Judging by the video (and measuring an LT230) I'd say they're 200mm long with maybe 40mm of M10 thread on the end. The output shaft on my LT77 protrudes 145mm from the read face of the gearbox. You'll want the shank of the bolt to be slightly longer than this (but not so long that you run out of space behind the TX box as you slide it back in the chassis).
Hi Mike, Please can you explain how to replace the intermediate shaft O-ring on the earlier LT230R - it doesn't have the nut like on a LT230T

I think they are 35mm - 10mm shorter than the ones that go in from the back

The LT230 does not have a pump - do you meant the Power Take Off?
