    honestly? i think the story is the best part of gnosia😭 i love the gameplay but what MAKES the gameplay so interesting to me is the emotional attachment i have to the characters i’m playing against bc of the story

      I disagree entirely. Probably due to the overly odd nature of many of the characters I didn't care about anything beyond the winning but that alone is enough to convince me to buy this game on my PS5 when it finally drops in December

      @@anjunxis I think the fact that you have to creep on another human being while theyre in the shower in order to 100% the game is kind of gross. I could also do without the guy turning himself into a cat for no reason

    I had a pretty similar experience with Gnosia, one of my new favorite games of all time. It's amazing how you learn people's quirks. If Shigemichi doesn't claim a role, he's almost certainly human, as Gnosia he loves to pretend to be Engineer or Doctor. He's my best friend and I love him.

      Sha Ming was the one I could always tell with. He'd never be the first to speak up, but he *reveled* in ganging up on anyone and everyone whenever he was Gnosia in a way he never did as crew.

    First thought: Isn't the _social_ aspect the whole fun of those sorts of games? Like, playing with friends you know is wayyyyy more fun than playing with strangers, but at least then you get to know those strangers.
    Second thought: I like the art, all the characters are hella cute, how could I accuse any of them of murder?
    Thoughts after watching the video: Ok, I'm sold. Lemme get to know those AI strangers.

    This game is quite a bit harder if you're the kind of person that has a hard time picking up on others' behavioral cues. Especially since here, those cues are most of what you have to go on, while Among Us has more hard evidence potential (I say "potential" instead of "based" because sometimes, you really don't have any hard evidence, and some people will ignore hard evidence).
    I just wish everyone had more line variants. Gets tiring to read the same things over and over.

    I found among us to be exceedingly frustrating to play, and that's probably due to the human element. I may give this a try.

      I completely agree. People just don't take the game seriously 99% of the time, especially in solo queue. There's leavers in almost every match, and people trolling is extremely common. Almost zero dialogue/discussion, it's like no one wants to put any effort into it. Votes seem random, like people just want to get it over with. What's the point of playing then?

    Speaking of your quarterly wrap-ups, can you please make a playlist with all of them in it? I have used the search function and the best way I got it to work is to search "Q1", "Q2", etc. but it's a pain and I probably missed one or two. I'm using them as a list that my partner can get more familiar with all the different types of games out there and maybe play (hopefully!). Thanks for the video again, it was fun.
    P.S. - 198X is a weird 1 hour long, 5 genre mashup, mosaic of a game that would work here. Very similar in scope to Sayonara Wild Hearts. Good luck!

    as someone who loves the gnosia story, I completely agree with all of this. I also loved that you pointed out the nonbinary characters, the biggest gnosia lore explanation video uses she/her on setsu (they/them) the whole way through and as a feminine nb person it made the video unbearable. nice little recommendation video, though i would say the game doesnt fully stray away from not pg elements (one of the notes has you discover the other nonbinary crewmember, raqio, is amab by... walking in on them in the shower. yeah its not hard to guess what your player sees)

    good review. You seemed a little hang up on the playing game for 5h. I understand its your niche and how you like to do these but I don't think most fans have that arbituary limit in mind when playing games so emphasising it 5+ times in 10minute video seems excessive but nevertheless this was informative.

  • @KenLinx

    This game could’ve been so much better. The AI does a lot of things illogically and no one but the player is allowed to make inferences and reasonings. All they do is say “I think this person is suspicious” or “I think that person isn’t suspicious.” I would’ve liked to see a “this person is suspicious because..” explanation from the AI once in a while. It would’ve made the gameplay feel less formulaic.
    The "stats" also detract from the gameplay experience. The whole point of irl werewolf is to test your deduction abilities and deception abilities. When such aspects are locked in this game to "stats", then the whole of the gameplay experience falters.
    Japan often has a misconception on the "right way" to play werewolf. Any experienced werewolf player would know not to jump to conclusions and refrain from voting day 1--as such directionless judgement calls would benefit the werewolves. Japan doesn't seem to understand this fundamental unspoken rule--made apparent by works such as Jinro Shokei and The Werewolf Game film/manga series.
    Another thing, the developers (or translators) don’t seem to know what “non-binary” means. In the character info screen, they list “non-binary” characters as having unknown sex-which shouldn’t be the case as sex and gender are completely different. Later on in the game, Setsu shuts down the advances of a lecher by proclaiming they’re “non-binary”, which makes no sense in that context whatsoever. Not only are the developers/translators confusing gender with sex, they’re also confusing gender with sexual preference.

      I know this is very late for a response, but setsu saying they’re non-binary is in response to sha-Ming calling them “babe” which is often used to refer to females

    • @KenLinx
      @KenLinx 2 роки тому +1

      @@kiyomochie9353 No, it isn’t. Men are referred to as “babe” all the time. It’s a familiarity term, not a gender-specific one.

    • @anjunxis
      @anjunxis 2 роки тому +6

      @@KenLinx but we KNOW that sha-ming sees setsu as a woman. he talks all the time about how much he loves women. when he’s the guardian angel, he only protects women… and setsu. he only collaborates with women… and setsu. meanwhile he doesn’t give a shit about raqio. setsu has gone through dozens of loops and they Know he basically sees them as a woman.
      also . they said “i’m nonbinary. stop treating me like that, and stop with the babe stuff” . they were telling him to stop hitting on them bc they’re not a woman, And to stop calling them babe bc they dislike it. they’re not saying that babe is an inherently gendered term (but also iirc in japanese sha-ming does call them “baby girl”)
      sorry that this ended up being this super long comment😭 it’s just. as a nonbinary person i think gnosia’s nonbinary rep is the best i’ve ever seen and i really Do Not think that they were confusing gender with sexuality (esp since setsu is somewhat implied to be into the main character regardless of gender)

    • @anjunxis
      @anjunxis 2 роки тому

      i get what you’re saying about the sex vs gender thing. but i think that saying setsu and raqio’s sex is n/a is better than the alternative. having raqio’s sex be listed as M bc they’re amab would lead players to think they’re a man and feels like it’s kinda. overlooking their identity. obviously the problem would be solved if they had just listed “gender” in the profiles as opposed to “sex” , but i think , given the word choice , that listing them as n/a was the better option

    • @KenLinx
      @KenLinx 2 роки тому +1

      @@anjunxis I think you're missing something. Sexual attraction is purely on physicality. Straight men are attracted to women. Saying you're nonbinary doesn't change your appearance--so it makes no sense for Setsu to do that. Gender is not sex.
      It also isn't a rejection for Setsu to say they're nonbinary. Nonbinary is not the same as asexuality. So I wouldn't know why Setsu expects Sha-ming to be put off by that.
      The sex/gender thing in the characters' bio just makes it more apparent that the developers don't know what they're talking about and maybe only included it because they wanted to make the characters seem futuristic or distant/abnormal.

    • @FirstFive
      @FirstFive  3 роки тому +9

      Yeah. It thankfully doesn't crop up often enough to ruin the whole game, but it has a few moments of intense leeriness and is very fond of using the horror movie trope of making the final girl a trophy in the "we-survived-let's-make-out" sort of way.

    • @sageferreira1533

      @@FirstFive Just a correction - that character actually isn't a girl! The initial patch wasn't clear about their (and Raqio's) genders, but both of them state clearly now that they use they/them pronouns. This doesn't absolve the game of some of those issues, but it does complicate them somewhat.

      Yeah, Setsu's arc is great. I'm referring more to the horror trope, which gets filled by whoever you happen to be partnered up with for each personal mini-plot, and Gina, SQ, and Stella *all* get used like this.
