Hello Cherry, Your excitement is so contagious. I can't wait to see your cottage garden grow. It is lovely to hear the birdsong. That storm came in quite harshly! I love the nest, as well. It is so beautiful. Thank you so much for yor vlog today. Have a wonderful week. Take care. ❤
I moved into my current home last May and I have a patio and stones with no grass. Going to have a container garden 🪴 can’t wait. And a great tip to grow plants that climb xx
Cherry..... I had to PAUSE this video, right at the start. I've been wanting to tell you that you have given us SO much more than just delicious recipes, cozy aesthetics and book reading suggestions ( by the way I finished reading Wintering on audio) You have indeed given me and I'm so others a WONDERFUL sense of encouragement to BE yourself. LOVE yourself. Through you energetic, playful and ENTHRUSICASTIC a personality, I feel more encouraged to simple be MYSLF and not feel self conscious or apologetic about it. I just turned 60 last yr and it was one of my very BEST yrs. yet! I did some yet! I Thank you, thank you for the gift of YOU. Now, back to the video!
Just this very day I saw Vita Sacksville-West's books recommended by an American Midwest gardener (Garden Moxie on YT). So I went online to my favorite booksellers, found a few at good prices and bought a couple. I think this year I am not going to read much fiction; I think biography, dialog and communications (such as letters), essays and instruction columns especially from gardeners of the past is going to be my focus. Not just picture books, though I adore those too and have many. But books which give my imagination a workout visualizing what the authors are describing. I love gardening! And just as in cooking, which I also enjoy, I love reading about it as much or maybe more than doing it. I really do garden a LOT though, that's my thing. In TX, USA, in a fairly arid area, where English Cottage style gardening, my most favorite style of gardening, is very challenging, though not impossible. I have the most success with my wildflower meadow, since we are blessed with so many wildflowers here anyway. But I do love the roses and poppies, the bachelor buttons (cornflowers), delphiniums (larkspur), hollyhocks, morning glories, wisteria and sunflowers. Overall, growing Iris, especially bearded Iris is my goal for the future since they grow so well here. I've bought over 100 named varieties. I can hardly wait for spring to see all the new colors! I sincerely look forward to watching as you create your new garden! I know the locals there will enjoy it too since I'm sure the delights you grow will find their way into the dishes you create and will enhance the atmosphere of your shop and dining rooms. Make room for a simple "cutting garden;" one which doesn't have to be meticulously kept in a show bed form, but just filled with masses of flowers intended for cutting. Thank you for all you share!!
I love nothing more than sitting outside having lunch. The birds singing a gentle breeze and looking at my flowers. Watching the bees climb into the petal of my foxglove. Got to do that so seldom last year with all the rain.. Love roses because they are so easy to care for and have some very old ones . Over 30 years old. Love the big white daisy it speads so easy so have to keep manners on it. 😅 The scented sage HOT LIPS grows so well and smells divine. Grows like a bush unless you keep it in a pot. Just a few of my favourite flowers. Now my bluebells are peeping up but it be a few week's before they flower. Live in a housing estate but my garden is Country Cottage with birdhouses painted white. Large ones on poles and small ones on my white picket fence. So you see how excited i am to see how you create your Cottage Garden. Thank you.
I just picked up a nest in my garden this morning. It’s so interesting to see all the items the birds find to build their nests ! This one included some black landscaping paper ! 😊
I live in southern California and people tend to think we don't have seasons but we very much do. My little cottage is on a wearing down sea cliff and we have many seasonal birds, water beings and wildlife. My garden is one I inherited from my mother who used to live here, she still visits at 98 years old- its all in pots and so fun to change around, try new things and see what works from year to year. Looking forward to your garden sharings.
Well, I’m a straggler on the book club reads. I just finished “The Thursday Murder Club”. I was able to check out the audiobook version from the library so I could listen while doing tasks around the home. I REALLY enjoyed it. I was laughing out loud. The person who read it was excellent. So, I don’t guess I’ll be able to keep up, but I certainly enjoy the recommendations. 🙂 How exciting to plan and execute a new cottage garden! I can’t wait. I wish I could come and help! Thank you Cherry, for another wonderful video. ❤
Cherry i love your idea of a cottage garden and look forward to seeing your progress.Im designing a tropical plants garden ,my son is doing all the landscaping.I have never done a tropical garden before .Just love all your videos but this garden project will be fun to follow .Thank you xx
Hi Cherry, thanks for another most enjoyable video, a quick tip for you...when you were cleaning your steps of moss, you could have peeled the moss up in large pieces to use as a topper for pots of bulbs... it works really well!! I'm very much looking forward to the next video and to watching your garden taking shape throughout the coming year 🌸🌼🌷 warmest wishes xx
How cool is this? Just this morning, I decided to build a potted cottage garden on my deck this year. I have to grow everything in pots where I live due to the terrain and wildlife, and this spring I will be building a new section of garden, which will be a very English cottage garden, or at least as close as I can get to it here in Canada. And here you are talking about building a cottage garden. We're kindred spirits, Cherry, for sure!
Hey Cherry, You are honestly an absolute joy to watch. I'v been watching you since last Autumn and i thoroughly enjoy your company. You are an absolute breath of fresh air. Your joyful personality and zest for life is so magical. I think you are living everyone's dream life and its a pleasure to be part of that. I'v signed up to the mailing list and this new course will be so wonderful. Have a great new week and take care.
Hi Cherry, it was so nostalgic seeing the photos of some of your old gardens. I used to be an avid reader of your blog over a decade ago and distinctly remember you documenting the development of your gardens in your old houses. So lovely to see vlogging now, you inspired me to make a runner for my dining room table this week, thank you for that! Amanda 😊
This is going to be fun. I've just started weeding in the front garden and have been trying to decide what I want to do with it this year. I want to keep the shrubs I've got there and I definitely want to grow some dahlias and sweet peas. There are plenty of primroses out at the moment but where to go next! Sandra x
How beautiful is the bird nest 🪺 and all the goodies as well. We are ALL fortunate to meet or represent another artist on a UA-cam video and to acknowledge for doing so. ❤❤❤❤
looking forward to seeing what you create! I've been creating my own cottage garden too and I cannot wait to get back out there this spring, my garden is my therapy ❤
Looking so forward to your garden. I live in Northern New England, USA. Temps here today -15 F. Winters are so long here. I have tried for the past 7 years to create a cottage garden. It’s almost there. But all gardeners know it really is never done 😊
