I just broke the bank on a Port Charlotte 18 and I spotted this on the shelf for 300 usd. Can’t justify it after that PC18 purchase as much as I would like to have this bottle
Yea that’s ridiculous…I’ve seen a lot of people talk about the Canadian market. Octomores are always high but I’m a sucker, I’d refuse to buy at that price too honestly!
@@glencairngamer I haven’t opened mine yet, I’ll open it around Christmas and roll into New Years with it, I’ve been buying the .3 for the last few years and have loved them, they’re definitely elegant when it comes to peated whisky, I’m a huge Laphroaig fan, select Arebegs and Caol ila special releases, Octomore definitely has it’s one place in the peated whisky scene and I’m looking forward to opening mine and yes I got super excited when I saw the ppm level, I know ppm is just a printout, but how can you not get excited, last special release peated whisky that I loved was the Ardbeg Hypernova, great ashy peat profile, thanks for responding to me, I really appreciate it.
@whiskyandsports2964 you hit the nail on the head with “elegant” on the octomores. Bruichladdich distillate is so very good. If you like octomores and wanna spend less money Bruichladdich has their Port Charlotte cask experiment line where they finish port charlotte 10 in different casks. I haven’t had a chance to grab the Ardbeg Hypernova yet but I do love me some nice Ardbeg ash from time to time. Laphroaig is a big favorite of mine as well, my 25 year is impeccable. Oh absolutely I’ll always respond when I can, I love whisky conversations and connecting cheers! 🥃
It must be great whisky. Sadly, I can't buy it, because my budget is low and I wanna buy something else. I'm feel a little disappointed because I still wait for delivery (from distillery to shop). Greetings 👍🥃
This is why I'd like to figure out how to do a bottle giveaway at some point to my members, it would help people try things they normally wouldn't be able to. Cheers! 🥃
@markopodlesnik3226 it breathes just fine, but that’s all good! What’s your favorite glass aside from the Glencairn then? I had a copita but it was so thin it shattered 😭
Hi, I like your channel and enjoy the way you discuss whisky, although you violate the unofficial (amateur?) rule of keeping the whisky in your mouth for as many seconds as the whisky is of age in years... The wife section is always entertaining to watch. 🤣 I also share your enthusiasm for Bruichladdich whisky, particularly PC 18 and Octomores. However, here you are using the wrong glass, which may be a reason for the somewhat underwhelming nose experience you had with this Octomore. There is a reason why "professional" whisky glasses (Samaroli glass, 1920s blender's glass, Denver & Liely glass, but also the Glencairn and the Stölzle glass) try to maximize the contact surface between the whisky and the air. See ua-cam.com/video/t5ru7mbwxhE/v-deo.html for a very good review of whisky glasses. Moreover, you cannot swirl around the whisky in this glass you are using here, which also seems to be "professional" behavior (to further increase the contact between the whisky and the air), see Master Blender Richard Patterson here: ua-cam.com/video/noloXYOk_2s/v-deo.html. Slàinte!
Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words and I appreciate you enjoy my channel. As for the glass: I wouldn’t say it’s “the wrong one” however, I overfilled it. I should have just filled the bulb so the aromas could travel into the narrow neck. I share your opinion, however, on the Glencairn. All my reviews have been with a Glencairn, but I just bought these glasses and enjoy them. But, for reviews in the future I’ll make sure to use a Glencairn as I have been. I am in the market for a 1920’s blenders glass (was literally looking online today). Yea, Bruichladdich is amazing as well as PC 18 is so fantastic I need to find another bottle. I’ll check out that video of glasses, appreciate it, cheers! 🥃
@@glencairngamer The Bruichladdich Distillery confirmed to me by email that in early 2025, there will be a new batch of the PC 18. Its new label can already be found on the internet, it says that one will come with 51.5% abv this time.
The palette can't taste anything more than about 80ppm. Lots of research discussing this. Love the 15.2, 15.2 and 5.3. There is no way we can taste this much peat!
My lizard brain likes big numbers 😂 I know it’s diminishing returns and mostly for marketing but it is definitely a GREAT dram for sure, I’d like to get my hands on some older age statement octomores though

300 is a bit much. And honestly that PC 18 is DAMN good. I support you abstaining, you got the right bottle 🥃
My local liquor store has it & he's asking $230. Is that a good price?
For the 15.3? YES ABSOLUTELY
BUY 2 😂
Seriously that’s an awesome price, lowest I’ve seen is $270. Make sure it’s the 15.3 though
That smokey dirt is the most beautiful gold color. Wow, stunning!
I must admit, though, that the bottle is cool.
They make great bottles for these octomores
@@glencairngamerIt is pretty awesome looking, I have to admit.
Her reaction was so funny!
There are SO MANY of those around on my channel 🤣 I need to make another compilation. She is so dramatic!
I get an old moldy leather couch like the 8.3 beautiful
delicious
I need that glass! Do you have a link you can share?
Absolutely! (Man I wish I got commission 😂)

They are super awesome glasses really make me feel like a sir 🧐
Staggering 307 ppm yes, BUT also a Staggering C$335 plus shipping(~C16+) and taxes (13%) to Ontario. No wonder Canadian reviewers refuse to buy it.

I paid $299 over here in jersey at my local liquor, so you didn’t do too bad if the cost was around mine.
Smidge high but honestly still worth it. How do you like it? Have you had previous octomores?

So yeah I'm a bit more mature now... Well maybe not... Proceeds to pour Jack Daniels in a pumpkin lol
I’m impulsive, I can’t stop it 😂
This glass is no go😂
Lol why?! It’s fancy pantsy, stemmed, and great for tasting spirits!
I still enjoy my Glencairn
