Always wanted to try this but I rarely see it in the South. Passed on a Bruichladdich Dark Arts for $600 and opted to get the Ardbeg 19. Havent't got to crack it open yet, been on a tequila kick here lately.
Band-aid juice lol. My first scotch I ever had was a Ardbeg 10 which I thought was alcohol poured into a ashtray. After that bottle I was hooked. Now Laphroaig has that STRONG medicinal flavor that puts me off. Picked up a Lagavulin 12 '23 release and for me it tastes like a watered down 8yr old. Not disappointed in it but just, meh.
The .3 local barley is always pretty good. But if you want the dirty ones. Get the .2.... they are usually wine cask matured. Very delicious. Especially the 14.2. Cheer D Rich
I'm in NC and our ABC stores have a very limited selections of Scotch's I was blown away when I happened into a small out of the way store and found a 14.1 for like $230.00, I'm still waiting to crack it open.. I wonder if you paid like 350.00 if the price has gone up that much or it's your location, still at that price it beats the Dark Arts 8.1 at $525.00 which I saw last week.
I love how excited you were after that first sip!😂
its the comparisons for me.. brisket dipped in sweet sauce - sounds like a winner!
Love the Octomores! Pricey and worth every penny!

I paid around 350 for the 14.3. The 14.2 was around 295
