    This is why I support paperless tickets and that major artists like Drake, Ed Sheeran, and others are starting to support because they don’t want their fans being ripped off.

      Yes, they want you to use TicketMaster resale to charge their fans a lot of money without admitting that the artists themselves are charging that price. I don't have a problem with that, the just need to be transparent, thats all.

      Just took my kid to a TOP concert last night. It's not just the scalping, although that is absurd. It's everything. Once you get in, you're forced to empty your pockets and pray you don't get thirsty, etc. If we cared about consumers, this wouldn't be a thing, and the artists themselves are not blameless in this.

    I stopped going to concerts long ago unless they are reasonably priced. Why be a sheep for these big money machines that are getting carried away? Everyone is lining up pinching pennies at the gas pumos but willing to spend over $500 each to go and see a concert? Not this guy.

      Dwayne Wladyka Concerts are really the most effective way for a band to make money but the public will soon tire of the ridiculous pricing of these events. I for one am not into being herded like sheep into a huge venue (with the security issues lately at public events) and paying like I hired the band for a private show.

    Let’s ask the questions that need to be raised. It seems there are way too many double standards..
    1. Who is forcing these people to purchase those “overpriced” tickets?
    2. Who is actually putting the value on the ticket, the seller or buyer?
    3. What’s the big deal? If you don’t want to be “scammed” then don’t purchase the tickets. If nobody buys these overpriced tickets then the value will drop and so will the prices. Duh...

      People will always buy them online. The performer won’t care. They assure themselves that all their tickets r sold by selling them to brokers. The broker takes a chance, because not all concerts r popular, so once in a while they lose money. But if a broker is good he will make a profit. It’s just a business like anything else.

    • @johnwatters3431
      @johnwatters3431 5 років тому

      Possibly. But you have to remember that as soon as a scalper buys all the tickets, the show has sold out.

    If I want to sell a piece of rock on a re seller website or any similar service for $5000 dollars and I advertise it as a regular old, random piece of earth rock I found in a vacant lot a couple years back then somebody happens to buy it and I pay the right taxes on it, the reseller or service gets a cut, then the rest is my profit, it's capitalism at its finest.

    • @billmartins5545
      @billmartins5545 Рік тому +1

      False equivalence. People can get that piece of rock elsewhere for what it's value is. With tickets to unique shows that are scalped, that's not the case. Try again with a better analogy.

    There's nothing wrong with scalping. It's a business just like any other. At the same time, I, being a famous rock star myself, don't want my fans to pay more than what I ask for in order to go to my concert. It's my concert, it's my band, ... why should some scalper take advantage of my fans and money that should have been mine in the first place? Unless the scalper is secretly working for me.

      It's no, though. Imagine if someone went in to your local supermarket and bought your favourite milk, yoghurt, bread, biscuits, and fruits, and did that for every supermarkt in your state as well as all the online supermarkts you have access to. And these supermarkets will not get replenished with these items for the next three years, when the same thing will happen. You can now only buy these items for 20x the price from this thief. Is that fair?

      @@billmartins5545 what are you talking about... ticket scalpers avg markup is 15-40% with a handful of outliers that the media goes crazy about (like 7x, but those literally dont sell). Also, concert tickets are a want and not a need so that's insane to compare going to a concert with literal necessities like groceries. Lastly, because its a want and not a need, if someone with more money wants to buy the tickets then wtf is wrong with that? That's called market making. Odds are the ppl with the most money are the least likely to get tickets if the finite supply is listed at the lowest possible rate - so basically people with less means end up getting the tickets. Why should the people with more means be left out?
