The Bajaj Dominar 250 is the smaller engined alternative to the company’s flagship bike, the Dominar 400. It packs a smaller 248.8cc single-cylinder DOHC engine that makes 27PS of power at 8500rpm and 23.5Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm, which is enough to get you to triple digit speeds in no time. In fact, in our test, the Dominar 250 managed to get from 0-100kmph in 10.92 seconds. And if you’re curious, it tops out at 132kmph (claimed). The Dominar 250 also packs a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and 13.5-litre fuel tank.
In terms of underpinnings, the 250 uses a slimmer 37mm USD fork compared to the 43mm unit on its elder sibling. That said, it retains the same rear monoshock, albeit in a different state of tune. The braking setup has been altered as well with a 300mm disc clamped by a radially mounted caliper and a 230mm disc at the rear. Other changes include a box-section swingarm as opposed to the cast aluminium swingarm on the Dominar 400.
The Dominar 250 runs slimmer, bias-ply tyres as well, with a 100-section at the front and 130-section at the rear. Also, at 180kg (kerb), the Dominar 250 is 7kg lighter than 400.
Not much has changed in terms of looks. The Dominar 250 looks near-identical to its elding sibling, albeit for a couple of differences. Firstly, it features the previous-gen Dominar’s instrument console where the tell-tale lights sit on the tank. And secondly, it comes in two colour options: Canyon Red and Vine Black, the first of which is exclusive to the 250.

I thought bajaj won't bring 250 dominar but it's a good decision.
Now what bajaj miss out is a full faired beast other than RS 200, it's not a bad vechile but as a legend like bajaj should have a fully faired bike.

In your previous 250 cc comparo video, you mentioned the 250cc segment lacked a bike with a soul... Does the addition of this bike change that?
While the Dominar 250 will appeal to a large audience, I think all manufacturers, not just Bajaj, should focus on small Adv bikes and a 250-400cc sounds just about right. Longer travel suspension will be a boon in the city and comfy ergonomics will make it livable in city/on highway. The 25-35ps should be more than enough for our road condition and also keep prices in check. All this while keeping it affordable to the masses. Not everyone wants power modes and fancy traction control system. Just a bike that can take on our roads and probably maintain 110-120kmph all day without screaming its lungs out. The KTMs though high on power, also have peaky power outputs which make it a little less comfy in city or on trails. I dont understand why even companies like TVS with racing pedigree in motocross have not yet ventured into this space. Mahindra had showcased Mojo scrambler which never made it into production. Xpulse is almost perfect but lacks power, Himalayan is a bit heavy but does everything else right. These manufacturers have powerplants for the purpose but somehow are shying away from it. May be you auto journos can convince them of what India needs?

Looks really nice and bulky weight is a problem, don't if it will have some problems in the long term as Dominar 400 also some problems. Though I'll have to say TVS and Bajaj are really GEM of India.

Can we install 150 section rear tyres and 110 section front tyres on Dominar 250?
You could try it at your own risk go to a trusted mechanic and get it done but inform your showroom/service center people as the swing arm may not accommodate the wider tire and modifications are at times illegal plus this will not only make your bike put on weight but will make it less nimble like the dom 400 so overall a no from me but hey you do you .

Sir I'm 5.2 ft. Am I able to ride and manage in cities?
I am a 6feet guy & my weight is 92kg, I can manage this well while testing it, but when it slows down or there is a turn, the weight feels a lot, imagine if I am trying to do a U turn with this in a slope area, then its very difficult, and its main reason is it has very very low turning radius
Most people are going to put a 140 mm thick radial tubeless tyre at the rear end . And that is what it needs really . Not the dominar 400's tyres it will eat away into its performance and handling , so fitting the 140 section rear tyre is the best option. You get the stability in corners and straight highways too . Plus there won't be a problem to fit it since it's only slightly bigger and better 😁.

Actually as a city bike this makes a great case for the fz25 which out-accelerates and out- brakes the d250, gives better city FE and is cheaper too.

More than weight see if your feet touch the ground that will give you more confidence to ride it...
Now Bajaj has again put out a set of 250s and they're even more cheaper. Different beasts altogether though.

somehow i feel its a demotion from 400cc to 250cc. Dominor 400 had set a benchmark, Dont understand the strategy here apart from getting th e looks at a cheaper rate. Upgrading P220 to 250cc with some minor add ons would have been a wiser decision looking at the popularity of p220 even today and the sales number it still generates

Bajaj, please provide a gear position indicator and try to reduce the weight of this bike up to around 150-160kg, then I would say most VFM bike in the Indian market.

Tyres are too slim for that muscular design and also it weighs too much which will definitely affect pick up. I think gixxer 250 is better because of the tyres and lighter weight. I like the exhaust note though.

Dominar 400 2020 BS6 review?
I dont know why everyone is pissing over its weight ..ofcourse if u want more raw power one can go for duke 250...but in term of riding ,driving fast is not only the option ....too much of speed will only lead u to the danger..dominar 250 is for those who dont drive like a squid in traffic ...and for weight its may be little haevy but therefore it has 27 bhp which is not the less in any term and yes its dominar so one also gets that premium batch buy buying this bike ..and at this price they are giving dual abs , usd forks,led headlight,slipper clutch,double barrel exhaust (and its sound too heavy ) with low maintenance cost...and rest the choices are subjective ❤

This negetive rendering on dominar 400 is not fair , i and many people i know have dominar 400 and also have driven dominar 250,
D400 is also a bike with proper purpose and charector. If that does not suit some people's mind set, that does not mean it is confused,
or may be the effort of understnading that machine is not in the proper direction, Each persons perspective should not be a review statement , it can only be opinion.
Both bikes are truly great for it own purposes, according to me .
