I dont understand the point of a drill test.. like how is that even possible in a real world scenario? instead drive over it with a car, throw it in a washer/dryer cycle, have a dog chew on it for 10 min, you know shit thats likely to happen.
They only do it because they know that it can be drilled in a certain spot without failing. They purposely drilled into the plastic optic, above where the electronics were housed. Even a dollar store light could survive that because they’re not drilling into a functional part of the light. They nicked the led so it failed, and they’d have to repeat all of the tests if they wanted to film it surviving, but they likely expected it to survive. It was just a marketing trick meant to make people think the light is tougher than it actually is.
I wish you guys would stop doing the drill test. Nobody is going to grill their light and expect it to keep working for a long period of time. I would like to see it left in the rain or mud for a day. Dropping it directly to the bezels, checking both switches, Drop it from a moving car , or more real scenarios along those lines.
dropping it from a moving car would be just like the van test, just roll around for it bit. I can agree to the drill test plus it was black and decker. I'm not surprised the drill stopped working. but drill any electrical will stop working. he did get a few good hits with the hammer on the bulb end and it held up
Testing in ways that we would actually experience (but doing way more repetitions) and then fully verifying function and water resistance would be a much better sales pitch.
Ok, I noticed all the brutal torture testing in the air, behind the van and with the 🔨 (with exception of one time early on when you air dropped it) you only turned it on and off via the side switch but never with the tail switch after every event. That's the whole point of this new W-Mini bro, is the tail switch. Not doubting you or the test, just an observation that I would have liked to have seen the tail switch worthiness through it all. Hell I'm still down with Olight and will keep buying however!!!
Mr H ... yea I asked the same question couple weeks ago.. no answer 🤪 I think as well as my guys in the shop say..”the tail switch was toast after the 1st air toss 👍”
Love your products! Three months after discovering them, I already own a dozen. I appreciate this demo, as it is more brutal and realistic than factory testing. But as an engineer, the drill test does absolutely nothing for me. Heat/freeze cycling, drops from extreme heights, or an extended drag behind the car followed by water tests to see if leaks appeared would be more useful.
Olight is the best flashlight/Weapon lights I've ever owned or seen. And the brightest. They always have sales too. I remember when I first saw them a couple years ago. I thought this could be cool, now I own 4 my wife owns 2. My favorite is the PL-Pro Valkyrie Gunmetal Gray. It replaced my Surefire X300 ultra. I will be buying more. Keep up the good work
Not even a proper frame test! We have no idea if it’s still water resistant. No idea if it charges (before hitting it with a hammer), no idea if both switches even still work. This “ad” would only work on someone who is not into actually using their light hard.
Nice, that thing took a beating. I gave my son a i3T and he left it in his pocket during laundry day. Through the washer and dryer and still works perfectly. I thought That was a beating. After seeing this video I believe that was just a warm up.
Great job! My question is how come you stopped trying the tail switch after throwing it in the air at the beginning of the tests? Did the tail light quit working?
z z .... yea .. it’s a shame! Me and my company bought $100’s of dollars .. probably $1,000’s on Olight, we get invited to UA-cam, “hey subscribe, enter contests, ask questions!! Think the feeling in the shop is to look at Fenix’s lights instead now 🙄
Yep. Far more durable in my experience. FourSevens is another good option. I had an o-light fail after literally 1 drop from waist height. It didn’t quit working from the impact, but rather because it was no longer sealed and humidity from being in my pocket got inside.
Olight community loves the torture test but really ,with all do respect drill test ! Not sure if its neccessary. But cool in a way .have several olights like the warrior m2r , m2r pro ,and warrior x and love them all .wish this warrior mini would come in titanium. I'm getting the desert tan.
It survived going through my washer and dryer!! The original warrior mini is the best light I ever had, glad I got 2! The second version is too heavy so won’t always stick sideways , still good but the first version rules
drilling test is probably for extreme vibrations that the FL can receive. it still has electronic innards and those connections can be affected by other forces, not just extreme sudden drops.
James Rhoades is yours getting shipped straight from China like my mega pack? I’m not being a smart ass, I order Olight all the time this is the first time when I tracked the package it was in China.
Not my experience. They estimated two weeks after my first purchase in July, lights were on my porch 6 days later, shipped from NJ. My second order in August was also delivered in 5 days, this time striaght from China.
Got several of your lights, now. What I don't have, and what I need, is a light (the size of this mini) that will put out 1800 lumens for 40 minutes. My M2R is a great light, but only lasts 4 min @ 1800 lumens.
You're gonna need a bigger light for that. Even the old R50 Pro stepped down from 1500 to 1000 after like 10 min. Emisar D18 probably can maintain that, maxes at 10,000 (or 14000 lumens), but it's a thicc light. Any "soda can" style light can probably do that. Olight used to have the X7r but I think it's discontinued
I can't wait for my warrior mini mega pack! The nine other Olights I have are completely amazing! Have one for ever use from EDC to on the Job, best lights with modern technology.. can't get any better! Or can it? LMAO 🤣
Don't listen to them! Don't do it! We are all Olight addicts, once we start buying them we can't stop! I have two failed marriages because of my addiction, my wives would just not understand why all my money was spent on flashlights! It's too late for us, save yourself!
charlieme5150 so true in the past 3 months I got at least 1 mega pack per sale. My wife is already ready to start giving my lights away but... I need this light too lol.
Thanks for the tests, why the drill? Please get a new drill, those are near useless, I personally don't use my drills that often but got a better one and wow the difference.
I actually enjoy watching the torture test with the exception of dragging the light on the ground. IMO, dragging it at the speed your going, any flashlight would survive that test. I think the dragging test needs replaced with something more sinister. Oh, and one more thing... if your going to drill a hole thru it, you might want to use a drill that actually doesn’t lose power several time boring a hole. Lol. Other than that, fantastic!
I wouldn’t say any flashlight dude.. there’s a brand called Protec and it was a 3200 lumen light and it died after the first drop.. it’s only a power bank now
Id like to be sent some flashlights like these youtubers and do some of my own torture tests and film it but I couldn't do that paying money for it lol but it would be fun for sure
Hey ,big fan of olights I have got enough of them to be at plat membership ( basically I like the lights a lot) did anyone else noticed a weird video distortion when the light was being dragged in the van or at the very end after the light was dead it seemed to just move and wiggle on the ground?
This is for a torture test not for something that is gong to happen to most of us in real life. No one is going to drill a light, no one is gong to sit in a freezing lake to see if the flashlight still works. It simply shows the extreme that these lightscan be put through and still work. We don't need everyday accidents we already know the light will still work...
*OF COURSE* I’m going to order this light.....and then a “Pro” version of it will be released soon, making me wish I’d have waited!!!! Already happened to me *SEVERAL TIMES* with almost every olight I’ve bought (and I’ve bought...well....let’s just say “quite a few”)!! 🤦♂️🤷♂️😡
Actually the Pro version may not always be better. In my opinion the S2R2 makes a better light than the Baton Pro. Longer runtimes on a lower capacity battery, 0.5 lumen output for like when I just woke up from sleep and don’t want to blind myself already makes it a better light than the Baton Pro. Also, I find the Baton Pro too floody and lights up a huge area in front of you. With that much light illuminating the foreground it makes it harder to spot something further away. I do find the Baton Pro great as an indoor light, but then again who needs 2000 lumen to illuminate a room? So much as I like my Baton Pro, I find myself reaching for the S2R2 more.
To the negative nit pickers, buy one and test yourself. Why I buy multiples of each model or brand for that matter, now I do not "torture" test but do not baby them in real life use. So far with olight, only one has died on me and it was only a tail cap switch on a inexpensive i3t, of which they sent a replacement switch within a week. Yes I drop my lights on concrete, I'm on concrete alot. If it dies, I'll send it in.
Ive had several olights in the past and the main issue was the side switch. Olight's side switches are brittle as fck. It may be ok after this torture test, but believe me, that switch will die suddenly even if you are not using it.
Next time we want to see what makes the light fail. What height, which heat and so on. But with a logical manner. Driving 60 and let it fall out of the car. Yeet it man!
I dont understand the point of a drill test.. like how is that even possible in a real world scenario? instead drive over it with a car, throw it in a washer/dryer cycle, have a dog chew on it for 10 min, you know shit thats likely to happen.
well, i think the hammer test would be just as bad if not worse than a dog chewing it and a car driving over it won't do much at all either.
@@picklemat4619 you are missing the point, and agree, the drill "test" was silly and totally unrealistic in a could happen scenario
Dude lightin up 😉

Still waiting for this insane torture test video....
Might try throwing a light fastball style at the wall? Talk about a sales pitch...
Testing in ways that we would actually experience (but doing way more repetitions) and then fully verifying function and water resistance would be a much better sales pitch.
"I'll throw it in the air as high as I can" ... Management - "you'll throw it ten feet in the air" 🤣🤣
If that’s as high as you can throw you need to get that shoulder checked out
Ok, I noticed all the brutal torture testing in the air, behind the van and with the 🔨 (with exception of one time early on when you air dropped it) you only turned it on and off via the side switch but never with the tail switch after every event. This time the drill wasn’t on reverse lol
Hitting hard with a hammer 🤔..my blacksmith friend say something different 😂
pneumatic hammer test
Just got mine on your flash sale. I've had an sr2 batton in my pocket for 2 years. I love it. I hope the warrior mini lives up to that standard.

This made me actually laugh out loud hahaha
@@olightkelly6107 Good 😊 We can all use a little more laughter, especially these days!

Come on Sean! You didnt test the tail switch after all of that!
I would love to have that tortured non-working Warrior Mini for my collection.
Only an olight addict would say that 😂
Thanks for making honest torture test!
I'd like to see a controlled burn. Get it UL listed.

It doesn't say where it's coming from.
Great light in the OLight tradition I am picking one up
Aw man I missed the sale! Bummer :(
Nice and robust light.
Im into this light! You know what I would also be SUPER INTO?
An S1R2 with a tailswitch... Now that would be the ultimate EDC for me!
S1R2 is shorter than a closed fist, how would that work?
Pretty durable light and the price is pretty good for what u get and the special edition Camo sweet
That's impressive, I knew it had to be pretty durable since it's listed as IPX8 waterproof
Nice tests. I have some OLights and I know they are tough. I would love another.
What a test . Impressed
Can't wait to get one
Adler Farms sent us. Can't wait to get our hands on one!!
Great, but can it survive your keys shorting out the switch?
