Tuna Melt Mac and Cheese MUKBANG w/ Fresh Tomato + Ritz Cracker Crust | Recipe + Hack!

- So excited to be back cooking for you guys! Today, we've got another mac and cheese vid and another mac and cheese HACK! This time, we're doing it tuna melt-style, because who doesn't LOVE a good tuna sandwich/tuna melt?! I sure as heck do! It's so nostalgic for me, and this certainly did not disappoint. I'm fairly obsessed with it! Recipe below!
Ingredients:
6 oz extra sharp cheddar (I used Cracker Barrel and kept in block form)
6 oz American cheese (block if you can find, it's just easier)
1 lb shell pasta
2 3/4 C chicken bone broth
1 3/4 C whole milk
14 oz canned tuna, drained
10 oz cottage cheese, blended
1 tsp celery seed (or to taste)
1 tsp paprika (or to taste)
kosher salt + black pepper
3-4 fresh Campari tomatoes, sliced thin
~10 Ritz crackers, crushed
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Add blocks of cheddar and American to center of a baking dish, then add dry pasta, bone broth, milk, tuna, blended cottage cheese, a few large pinches of salt and a healthy does of fresh black pepper to the outside. Stick a spoon in there to move the pasta around a bit.
3. Bake at 350 for 55 min, taking it out halfway through to stir around the edges.
4. Once it comes out of the oven, stir everything up until it's well combined, then top with your slices of tomato and crushed Ritz crackers and serve!
So easy, lower in fat and way higher in protein than most of my mac and cheeses, and SO delicious!! And, if you don't like tuna, you can always sub it out for chicken!

DAYUM. Amazing to even think of this! I’d probably do Velveeta since I don’t trust cheddar melting and maybe that’s a skosh more liquid than I prefer, but incredible recipe! Looks so good.
Edited to add: I put thinly sliced celery into my spaghetti sauce and my hot chicken salad so you totally could add celery to a hot dish,

@@TheHungerDiaries i just made chick pea mac n cheese. Banza is pretty good. I dont eat it often though, I have diabetes. So I am very careful about eating any carb as I am not good at portions or self control lol

I was wondering what kind of tuna you use. Looks different.
So, I’m ashamed to say this isn’t pole/line caught. It’s chicken of the sea. I’ve had it in my pantry for a while now and I need to make sure it’s not wasted. From now on I’ll only be buying pole/line caught tuna. 😊

Girl I hope you see this but you need to try edamame spaghetti!! Its my favorite high protein pasta and it would be neat to see you make it and add in your own toppings and such 😊 they sell it at most grocery stores like sprouts, kroger, Meijer. Its so good! Different but good 😋

I definitely wouldn't have taken that liquid out. The pasta would have soaked that up and made it less dry. But that's my personal opinion ❤️❤️
Right.👍 Once it cooks down, all that liquid will meld together. The cracker topping would have helped too!
You’re def right! It was good both ways! I ended up adding a little more chicken broth to heat my leftovers last night and it worked great, so either way works!

I also can’t STAND tomatoes in any solid or original form. There are a few things that if they exist in a dish takes over the entire dish,is all I taste and is 🤮. Tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, celery, raw bell peppers and cilantro. Glad to hear someone else is like this, most people I know think I’m crazy. 🤤thanks for the vid and recipe, this is one I will be trying.
