The way to do Space 220 is the lounge. We just did it in April. The menu has the apps from the lunch/dinner menu plus other items such as sliders (which are really good). We got the cauliflower, sliders and deviled eggs (also very good!). You get the experience, plus good food for a small portion of what you would pay for lunch or dinner and still have stomach room to hit the booths for whatever festival is running at Epcot at the time. Win-win-win-win
Great advice. I learned from experience at another park that eating a huge meal at a sitdown restaurant however great it may be can leave you feeling very full and lethargic making it harder to eat more snacks that day.
What an in depth and candid review! You four as a quartet gave a great glimpse into the overall value, atmosphere and expectations of the venue. Great to see Kylie along again; Ryno, Craig and Erika are my favs since they all have different tastes and speak to them succinctly. Love when Ryno makes a "mistake" when speaking but always hilariously or eloquently quips back. Like you Ryno (sorry Craig) I too have that other voice in my head making comments as I plod along in life! You all make me smile! Thanks for your hard work putting us there during the meh and sometimes fantastic feasts! 🎉🎉
Back in July I was trying to get reservations for last September and eventually I was like “do I even want anything on the menu or am I just interested in the layout?” Turns out I really didn’t care for neither so I stopped trying.
Hi Dis! You may have already done this but it would be cool to see reviews of just the bars and/ or their lounges. Special drinks at the bars or bar crawls. For example, I would love to know your experience only sitting in the lounge at Space 220. Meet the bartenders, what food do they offer at the bar or lounge. Stuff like that. Thank for the review. I loved Space 220 but the cost is pricey. I think the next time I go there I will only try the lounge.
I loved when Ryno said “perm your hair?” Then said “as no one should,” As an old woman who all through out her young life had perms, I totally agree 😂❤
The bathroom voice says something along the lines of (basically) “the atmosphere in the bathroom is like that on earth so poop normally”…but in a more technical way. Basically it’s a gag that even tho you’re in space you don’t have to use a bathroom like they do in space, it functions as a normal earth toilet
Love the DIS keep up the good work. Great to see everyone on this review. It looks like the food is just good enough to keep you from complaining and the real draw is the theme and decor of the restaurant.
My wife and I ate there today. Our comments pretty much align with all of yours. It was disappointing. Cauliflower was by far the best thing we had. Calamari was tough/chewy. When our entrees finally arrived they were cold. Ambience wonderful. Service okay food meh. It was our first time visiting. I don’t think we’ll be back for awhile.
It’s my first time watching your channel and I love how critical you all are. It’s refreshing not to hear yes comments all the time. Will watch more for sure xd
We had dinner there last month. The server said they use higher quality beef and fish for dinner. And wow! The best filet we ever had. It melted in your mouth! Service was fantastic. Even tho it was an expensive meal for our family of 5, my husband said it’s a must do next time. 😊
Thanks for this review. I had lunch at Space 220 about 5 months ago and it was the single worst meal I've ever had in a Disney park, and it seems like they're getting better but still don't have it all together. I order the steak and frites, and similarly was underwhelmed by the massive pile of theme park fries. My steak that time (also ordered med rare) was undercooked and had a massive tendon running through it that was literally inedible. I said something to the server when he cleared the plates and he said, "Yeah...that didn't look great when it came out of the kitchen." But he didn't offer to make it right, and they still charged me full price for it. I actually went back to the restaurant about an hour later and asked to speak with a manager. I told her what had happened, she was apologetic and offered a round of drinks or desserts for my entire party later that evening. I said thank you, but we ended up not going back. I wouldn't ever return to Space 220 unless I were to see that it's getting an overhaul, new menu, new chef, new management.
We went last week and everything was either undercooked or overcooked, and definitely under-seasoned, with the pad thai having no taste to it at all. The calamari's pink sauce was great but the tomato sauce tasted like watery mashed tomato with no seasoning. The salmon and the kids' meals were the only winners, and by winners, I mean, at least met the bare minimum expectations of a meal at any non-Disney restaurant.
This is the ultimate one and done restaurant - I 100% recommend people to go as the experience is cool and the food is good enough, but it's not something I *need* to repeat and the food is good but not good enough to justify the price point. The buffalo cauliflower is really good though. Thanks for the review
I don't even know if it's worth the first time. I've been struggling with that since being there. Is it better being a mystery someday spot rather than going and being disappointed.d
The same way you feel about the chairs in space 220 I feel about details like hinges on the closets in the Star Wars hotel. There are no hinges in the star wars universe the closet doors should slide or roll. Ceramic toilets are also a no!
@@DISUnlimited I honestly don’t think that is necessary because the menu isn’t that worthwhile. I was recommending for those that want to experience Space 220 but don’t want to spend $80 a person. Definitely doesn’t seem to be worth that cost.
If that calamari was tough for you Erica ...it would be way too tough for my over 50 teeth! I also agree about Ryno's thoughts about the esthetic of this restaurant not going the extra mile
We just at here yesterday and it was delicious! I have seem so many so so reviews that I was sure to find an issue. We didn't. We couldn't have enjoyed more.
I just got back from WDW and had a reservation for Space 220 but canceled. I had a reservation for 30 mins before the dinner menu, and wasn’t sure if I was going to have to pay lunch price or by the time I get to my table I was going to be hand a dinner menu. And for the cost and the items on the menu I wasn’t excited so ended up cancelling. Hopefully next time
I love watching all of your dining reviews and how honest you are about the food. Is there any way you can please share what the kids menu is like. I have four kiddos and two of them are picky eaters. I would like to see if it is something I would be able to take them to as well.
Great review team! Good to see Kylie! Ryno, I could listen to your funny comments all day. Greg had a few funnies as well. Erica is such an asset to the team. This restaurant reminds me of New York City’s Mars 2112. Food wise, it was underwhelming. It has been closed for many years.
Be aware though that if you are in a large group and sat at a round table, one or two of you will be facing the wall and not looking out into "space". I had a wonderful view of the wall and the entry/exit to the kitchen. We were a party of 5.
Craig, 1) Why isn’t your wife part of the Diz team, she is so fresh and natural on camera, Chef’s Kiss! (And this is coming from a gay guy!). Get this lovely lady in more of your vids! Now I want her, Erica and Jackie, as well as you, Rhino and Pete, at Victoria & Albert’s! I’m sure Vicky A’s won’t kick you out if Pete isn’t in Tie & Tales. 2) what I take from this review is to ask them if they will let you do two aps and a dessert for lunch instead of an ap and a main. All of your aps except Erica’s looked pretty amazing! Imagine choosing any two you loved (like that cauliflower!) plus that carrot cake or cheese cake! It sounded like their were amazing dishes, but also not amazing dishes so just get only amazing dishes next time (would love to see Pete, Jackie there for dinner.) 3) I, like your wife, love a good chocolate and fruit combination (milk chocolate covered strawberries, white chocolate covered cherries, dark chocolate covered oranges or raspberries). We might need to stage an intervention with you. LoL 4) you guys should invite Steve Porter back to guest in a review the next time he’s on this coast! He popped into the comments a few reviews back when you mentioned he was still the Mac n cheese champ!
I took my space obsessed son for his bday. I got the steak frites and asked if I could sub the fries for the potato wedges which they let me do at no extra charge... I didn't want to be paying that much for classic disney fries which I can get back at ASM. I wasn't impressed.. steak was chewy and not much of the sauce.. However, my son is 14, he's autistic and the only protein he eats is chicken tenders. Our kind server allowed him to get the kids chicken tenders at the kids menu price (he won't eat any of the appetizers, not even the fries that come with his meal.. I thought he'd eat the chocolate cupcake but he didn't like that one) so I'm glad I didn't have to pay the adult menu price for him. Of course I'm taking him back next month but this time we got a reservation for the lounge so he can have the kids meal anyway regardless of age and mommy can have an overpriced drink instead. Eta: the kids chicken tenders was more than enough.. it came with 4 chicken tenders.. not 2 which is usually consistent with kids meals.
I have to say I'm kinda shocked at how (a) pedestrian the bad puns in the menu names are and (b) how ordinary and tiny the food/portions are. Is Patina still doing the food, or have they now knocked it down once Disney took over? Either way, I'd love a comparison between what you had and what was premiered when the restaurant opened--it seems, to use one of those puns, a WORLD away from what it was.
That's so cool!!! Looks like it's fun and educational which is perfect for parents and kids to both enjoy keep up the great work and stay awesome ❤️ 👌 👏 👍
We’ve done dinner twice. The filet is very good. It was a fun experience for my first time Disney world guests and our food was very good. I would go back for special occasion
We saw the original Craig and Deni media event and thought it looked a one and done but like Ryno says the prix fixe menu was way too much. I managed to snag a lounge reservation for an early lunch, food was meh but the lounge seating is higher and you get a great view (especially the lightsaber battle!). The best bit is the space lift (elevator), would i go back, maybe but only the lounge.
We do the lounge only too. The apps are great and the drinks are fun. Now that they take reservations for the lounge part we take advantage of that. Have not had any interest in the full dinner as there are better places to eat at Epcot obviously.
Just ate there last night. The main pint of eating here is for the ambianc, which was not working. The worst part, was the food. We tried non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. The non were meh at best. Apps and entrees are average. The desserts (the thing you remember most) were awful. I got carrot cake it was gross. Others got cheesecake and didn’t like it. Kids got Ice cream which is the safest bet. For the price to eat here, I’d say the menu needs a re work.
I loved the deviled eggs they had- may have only been available in the lounge area (they had weird rules when they opened). The food and experience was more of a one and done for me- it's been a while so I may try again next trip. The projections were not as interesting as I thought it would be- I remember chuckling at a scene with two astronauts at least. It just didn't look authentic to space- it felt very fantasy. Bravo to them for doing something different- I loved the lettuce growing section too! :)
Wife and I ate here last summer. Experience was cool, my son loved it. Food completely mediocre. We also got shrimp added to our entrees, and I’m pretty sure they just steamed it plain and served it…no seasoning, legitimately tasted like hot water.
Great review. I’d still like to try it but eat in the bar and get the cauliflower and carrot cake. I’ve tasted some great vegan food and wonder is this for real? I do like a thin vegan burger cuz hate gristle in the real meat.
I love your videos - just a little editing tip, when you have Erica talk about how much she loved Ryno's dish, as a viewer, it would be a much more cohesive watching experience to have the next shot then be Ryno showing his meal, rather than the steak frites, which didn't "follow the story". Or maybe put the steak frites section just before Erica's. Thank you for all your hard work, love these dining reviews :)
Set a MouseDining, Stakeout, Touring Plans, etc. alert for your trip days. More often than not, some people who made those way far in advance reservations will cancel within 2 days of their date. You can luck into prime reservation times just by checking those availability calendars.
I basically look at dining reservations once a day for restaurants I know we want to review and I finally found something for this after months of trying.
How awesome would it be if .....occasionally..they had the Empire attack this place? Picture Vader and some stormtroopers randomly appearing? You own the IP disney....
Thank you for trying this so I don't have to! J/k 😂 it seems overpriced for the food you get and the experience seems meh. I'll try it when it's no longer prix fixe
I remember I was very excited for this restaurant but the decor is sort of down themed and the menu is pretty unremarkable especially for the pricing. The space elevator in the big windows and all that looks great but it really does remind me of the coral reef restaurant and I used to work there. Also the names for the food on the menu are pretty lame. You can tell that the imagineers have been kept out of a lot of things over the last several years at least only allowed minimal input and it certainly wasn't for the food and the names. The watermelon mozzarella salad did look phenomenal though. Calamari when fried is usually tough it's just not the way to prepare it. Also the carpet is hideous. The whole place already looks like it needs an update LOL the fried portion on the steak was ridiculous as was the broccoli non portion LOL no sit-down restaurant at Disney should make you think meh about the food but clearly that's what happened here.... that certainly was not Pad Thai by any stretch of the imagination it actually looks more like a stir-fried lo mein
Loved the review! I totally agree with you all- we went here in January and enjoyed our appetizers and dessert, but found that the main dish fell short of our expectations. Decided this was a one and done restaurant- although maybe the lounge would be a different experience.
Definitely try the Lounge, especially for lunch! You get the option of appetizers and desserts from the prix fixe menu PLUS lighter entrees (like the sliders, which we thought were wonderful). And because you're not doing prix fixe, you can save money by sharing things. You still get the wonderful space ambience, plus even more food options, and can end up with a less expensive meal that way.
She's allergic to shellfish and no one had that. She can be around the things she's allergic too, unless its a vapor from cooking like Teppan Edo, as long as people don't push her to eat it.
The way to do Space 220 is the lounge. We just did it in April. The menu has the apps from the lunch/dinner menu plus other items such as sliders (which are really good). “In space, no one uses seasoning.” 😂
Well played Craig.😂
The fact that clouds block the backstage areas of EPCOT during the trip up amuses me 😊
The outro music and "yummy yummy" sound bite were fantastic!

FYI, you cannot have, nor do you want tuna that is fresh. All tuna is frozen right after catching and before being taken to market.

Thank you for trying this so I don't have to! J/k 😂 it seems overpriced for the food you get and the experience seems meh. I'll try it when it's no longer prix fixe
Wood catches fire in space?
You can just have a drink at the bar? Dinner reservation isn’t necessary?
"We didn't really look around at the restaurant" haha you guys are getting really wacky.
Thanks all -- well there is now another thing not on my list for Epcot -- not sure there is much for me at Epcot anymore.
If the calamari is tough it’s over cooked. Not good.
Too bad about the calamari, they must have cooked your serving too much. We were there last June and liked the calamari so much we ordered a second.
Ryno, you sound really jaded, like nothing amazes you anymore. That's very sad.
How did ya’ll even get reservations? Like I’ve been trying forever.
It's been a slow couple weeks here and I think I just chose the right day to keep refreshing what was open.
@@DISUnlimited ugh I’m gonna try and get one for my bday (2 weeks from today yaaay)
IMO...dark chocolate and raspberry were made to be together.
I feel like this restaurant would have bern better appreciated in Tomorrowland. Magic Kingdom's options are not as good as Epcot.
Why is Space 220, so much better than the $5,000 Space-Hotel Dining Experience?
How is Kylie at the table with seafood when she's so allergic? Good to see her though.
She's allergic to shellfish and no one had that. She can be around the things she's allergic too, unless its a vapor from cooking like Teppan Edo, as long as people don't push her to eat it.
This isn’t a Disney restaurant
Delaware north owns and operates it
Hence it being meh
Those fries look pitiful for an upscale steak frites.....can't do some fresh garlic parm fries or something ?
One and done restaurant. Overpriced. Eat in the lounge and save money.
Wonderful theming with not as good food
