My old piece did not come out easily..in fact when I squeezed it to try to get it out it shot out of the pliers and inside the door ...the door has about 8 or 10 screws to hold it together....I just took them out, got the door apart, removed the loose stuff from inside, and the other latch that was on the other side .......I was fooling with getting the old one out for almost an hour...once I decided to take the door apart, it took less than 10 minutes...very poorly made and bad design

1st time mine broke I ended up taking the door apart to move the unused latch to the other side, it was a pita. 2nd time it broke the center came out easy making getting the outer out pretty easy too.
From what I've seen the sizes aren't held very precise.
