  • Diamond Pro Tech is the new kid on the block so to speak when it comes to coatings. They are nano diamond and polymer composite coatings and not ceramic. Diamond Body is an 18 month coating. I chose it for the fact that my Camaro is a garaged vehicle. It will exceed the claimed longevity as it is not used as often.
    The car was polished with Dr. Beasley's NSP 95 and then two layers of Diamond Body was applied.
    This video goes over the application of the coating which is user friendly along with a walk around and a demonstration of the hydrophobic behavior with the infamous spray bottle.

    Hey Mike. I'm rewatching this video again (youtube suggested it to me for some reason).
    You mentioned smeariness during the walk-around...I'm really starting to think that you might've been running into compatibility issues with the NSP. I know you've had good luck with NSP and other coatings, but those were all ceramic based (even the graphene ones are primarily ceramic). Since the Diamond Protech coatings are composite nano-diamond and PHPS (no SIO2 except for Quick Body), I think you might've had different results if you had used DPT's prep spray (same goes for your glass and wheel coatings).
    The Rag Company did a video called "How to Eliminate High Spots from Ceramic Coatings" where they tested DB36 with different prep sprays and it was really noticeable how different the coating behaved based on what prep was used. I've applied Diamond Body a couple times, and it flashes quite fast (much faster than what you were seeing). I never ran into any smeary spots like you mentioned.
    I haven't seen the Diamond Body coatings since I've applied them, but I haven't heard anything negative either (friend's vehicles). The DB36 I applied to my personal vehicle is performing to my expectations so far, though I've only washed it once. I'll let you know if I run into any issues.

    Great video. I just placed an order for two Coating Caddys thank you. My Charger is white but I was able to coat outside in the sun when it was cool out. Yeah white vehicles are very different to see the flashing than with dark vehicles.

    Looks like some other pro coating company's might have to up their game. I recently used MOHS Evo and does it flash quick it was 81degrees and 50% humidity but it was a great coating overall. This coating looks great and will be interesting to see the durability over time. I love those tight beads. Not much change in SunMatch 4 vs the the 3rd version. I do love my diffuser cap to check a coating. Looking forward to see your long term thoughts and hope others in colder climates like Ohio will do long term reviews Great review as always Mike.

    I tend to be septic from brands with massive claims like scratch resistant, 142 degree angle, stable across whole PH scale I mean c'mon. Hopefully we get more real world review for body36 in the next few months or I'm sticking with mohs Evo in the spring.

  • @larrysing
    @larrysing Рік тому +1

    My experience exactly. It smears madly & the longer you leave it, the harder it is to get them off. I started with the recommendation of 10-15 minutes but then ended up with just 2-3 minutes as the setup time before starting the wipe off. And not slick after. Does seem like a thick coating. But also on dark paint, it will easily show micro-scratches from towel touches afterward. Still trying to figure out if I like the coating or not.

    Couple questions for ya. If you have an existing coating on your car, do you need to polish it completely off before applying a new coating? or, is just claying it good enough? thanks

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому +1

      Bes to polish the old coating and start fresh with this one. Claying is not guaranteed to remove the older coating and you will probably have clay marring. My recommendation would be to polish off the older coating, panel wipe it with the Diamond Body Prep and apply Diamond Body.
      Can you apply it after claying? Sure but the possibility of it not lasting that long is there. I would also recommend purchasing their dedicated panel prep.

    Are you suggesting that the Body 36 offers higher gloss levels than the Body coating on this car? Looks so good!

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому

      I have not used DB36. Diamond Body does look great. You could put different coatings on white and one would not be able to discern a difference between them.

    Mike, I have found NSP polishes to be grabby. Any chance that affects the slickness potential of the Diamond coating?
    I would think the coating would mask the properties that a primer polish left behind. 🤔

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому

      I’m going to try it on another panel but I don’t think that plays a factor. Gyeon Mohs Evo’s slickness was not impacted like that. Everyone has a different description of slickness. Maybe this is what the Swiss consider slick

    I’ve been thinking, these non ceramic coatings(diamond pro, some GYEON), is it bad to top or maintain with ceramic products?

    • @MikeGDetailing
      @MikeGDetailing  Рік тому +1

      It is not bad. Diamond Protech states their is no need for a constant topper. But folks loves touching their paint that I suspect they will be coming out with some sort of product to use as a drying aid.
